President Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace prize 2009

I’ve been so busy I didn’t even notice it’s Friday. So glad that it is, though. What a beautiful little dewy gift this morning, akm.
Our President just won the Nobel Peace Prize!! Glad there are some people out there noticing what he’s doing. Rather nice news to replace the “Barack Obama has so little respect he can’t even get the Olympics for us” snickers.
Obama is quite the phenomenon, isn’t he? We all knew it and now it seems that the world is acknowledging this, as well. Sweden rules!
What an incredible day this will be! I still hadn’t fallen asleep and it is 3 in the morning here. I guess there was a reason for my insomnia.
It appears that I will now be awake to see how the moon reacts to all of this. Also, I might just have to watch a bit of Fox news to see how they handle this one. Did I just say that? Ewwwww….
How exciting that our President has won the Nobel Peace Prize ….hip hip hooray
Going to congratulate him on his selection
I’m sure the rethugs will have something cruel to say about this
Love all your photos AKM, I have been extremely busy but have taken quick glances to try and keep up with the news
I have a new person in my office and I opened my computer and showed her where I go for the news…she got a kick out of the fact that I go to an Alaskan website to keep upon events…..I think she’s a convert, maybe a new mudpuppy
WOW – what a great thing to wake up to! Here I sit in my fuzzy slippers and pj’s with a silly grin on my face at 6:30 in the morning!
AHHHH, Life is good. Congratulations President Obama!
I saw the headlines as I was about to go to sleep. Now the sound of rightwing heads exploding is keeping me awake. Guess I’ll stay up and celebrate by watching nasa.gov/ntv!
After all the GOP insanity, I hope the NPP will boost Obama and make him feel obligated to go forth with all that s good and fair, despite the crazies.
Sarah gets a ghost writer to produce a book, that guy who pals around with Ayres gets the Nobel Peace Prize… Sarah must be tearing her hair extensions out.
I think it’s very exciting that President Obama won the Peace Prize. He is being recognized for his efforts to make a change in the world. I’m sure his opponents will only be critical though. Will be interesting to hear what they have to say.
And the deadline for nominations for the NPP was February 1st! So somebody nominated him anticipating that he would work for diplomacy and that would be clear by the time the voting happened.
Not even 50 years old and he’s the POTUS, is working to fix a tanked economy, bring health care to all Americans, bring the US back to a place of respect in the eyes of the rest of the world, working to begin a real green movement that will help to begin a healing of the environment, making strides to bring comprimise and perhaps eventual peace in the Middle East, weighing the very, very heavy decision about 2 wars that were disasterously mismanaged AND he is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize …..
and yet the world of twisted wingnuts is going to be all over him today with conspiracy theories about the award and somehow it will drive home the truth of him being a commiesocialistnazidicatator bent on the destruction of America and God.
Well I for one respect his efforts and give him credit for not having fled DC, screaming and heading for the hills.
***Even if she doesn’t run, she’ll have an impact, and it will be a negative impact on the Republican Party. She has two constituencies: the Christian right and lovers of comedy. ***
Why does Sarah’s hair always look so dirty? I was looking at Keatley’s pictures and she just looks like she needs a good shower and clean up. The phrase “rode hard and put away wet” comes to mind.
Peeked at the pictures. Looks like Palin gained some weight -or got a boob job?Wereherboobsthat big before? Anyway, blah on Palin. GoBama! The wingers are screaming already. No radio for me today.
Here’s Mud in your eye TeebagingRepoTalibaningNaziconzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
To mis quote some one I read lately.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHaaaaaaaaaaaaaw! (Which I think is a corruption of Gee and Haw, the equine version of Port and Starboard).
And Haaaaawt Daaaiem!
You gota love this.
Toooooo Sweeet. Rich as Blackstrauhp Molassaes. (Allusion intended.) Put that on your French Toast Teabaggers.
If the Rethugs condemn this, and they will, they will drive a huge stake into the heart of their “patriotism” mantra.
I just can’s stop laughing.
Every once in a while the Nobel Prize committee makes a political statement. Gore and Obama as well as Mandela and many others are examples. But they make their statement on an international level.
This is an incredibly powerful, overt, deliberate slap down of the Republican party and its yapping media puppets.
The rest of the world supports Obama and his outlook. This President of the United States has put us back in a world leadership role that was destroyed by the Bushies.
Hey All – Anchorage is having a support rally for the National Equality March (for LGBT Rights) this Saturday at 36th & Denali (in front of the Library.) Please join us!
‘Nother great pic AKM. I am assuming that is the ubiquitous dandlion. I know most people want them dead but they are a wonderfully adaptable survivor with pretty leaves (makes good tea) and blooms and one of the few really pretty seed heads.

Probably that initial bump was bulk buying by various Repub and ReligioRight groups.
As many mudpuppies have already foreseen, probably most of her sales will be at political functions, where they will either be prizes, or used as money raisers.
I am sure that most conservative net sites are going to sell her.
Obama finally received his “3 AM call”…………lol

Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
The award appeared to be a slap at President George W. Bush from a committee that harshly criticized Obama’s predecessor for his largely unilateral military action in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
The Nobel committee praised Obama’s creation of “a new climate in international politics” and said he had returned multilateral diplomacy and institutions like the U.N. to the center of the world stage.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, who won the prize in 1984, said Obama’s award shows great things are expected from him in coming years.
“It’s an award coming near the beginning of the first term of office of a relatively young president that anticipates an even greater contribution towards making our world a safer place for all,” Tutu said. “It is an award that speaks to the promise of President Obama’s message of hope.”
Until seconds before the award, speculation had focused on a wide variety of candidates besides Obama: Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, a Colombian senator, a Chinese dissident and an Afghan woman’s rights activist, among others.
The Nobel committee received a record 205 nominations for this year’s prize, though it was not immediately apparent who nominated Obama.
“The exciting and important thing about this prize is that it’s given to someone … who has the power to contribute to peace,” Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said.
Obama is the third sitting U.S. president to win the award: President Theodore Roosevelt won in 1906 and President Woodrow Wilson was awarded the prize in 1919.
The Nobel committee chairman said after awarding the 2002 prize to former Democratic President Jimmy Carter, for his mediation in international conflicts, that it should be seen as a “kick in the leg” to the Bush administration’s hard line in the buildup to the Iraq war.
Five years later, the committee honored Bush’s adversary in the 2000 presidential election, Al Gore, for his campaign to raise awareness about global warming.
Obama was to meet with his top advisers on the Afghan war on Friday to consider a request by Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, to send as many as 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan as the U.S war there enters its ninth year.

Right after they were gloating about how the world hated America/Obama because “he was denied the Olympics” ( very juvenile comprehension of that process apparently) — he wins Nobel Friggin’ Peace Prize!!!
I am so proud of him and of this country for electing him!
There is Change- plenty of it- and very important change. Change with global implications.
The right will either accuse the Nobel Committee of being leftists commies or say that Peace is somehow bad…but we already know that they don’t like peace, and that they are not in line with the views of the Nobel Committee. That is exactly why we didn’t elect them this go around. So, their complaints will merely be reiterations of their horrifically immature policies that caused so much grief in the world…as well as a reminder of why they need to stay out of office.
Cheers!!!
ps Palin does look weird in her new pictures…and I imagine that she will now try to get an award like this for herself….you know how she copies Obama every chance she can! Maybe she’ll have the NRA give her an award for Most Hawkish Warlike Holy Terror of the World.
President Obama has taken enormous strides in returning the United States
to the table of international diplomacy. His commitment to eliminating the nuclear arsenal has clearly been heard by the rest of the world, as has his
commitment to work globally on the threat presented by climate change. He
continues to use his diplomatic skills in brokering peace between Israel and Palestine, in confronting Iran for it’s nuclear weapon aspirations, in re-establishing a working relationship with Cuba, and in returning some measure of hope to a broken world. Congratulations, Mr. President.
Regarding President Obama being awarded the Nobel Peace prize. The Chairman of that committee was being interviewed by Daine Sawyer this morning on GMA. When it was announced who won the prize lots of eyebrows went up and jaws dropped.
The Chairman told Diane the committe does not want to hear ANY questions or rumors about who recieved this award as it was a UNANIMOUS (sp?) decision.
WAY TO GO PRESIDENT OBAMA!!! WAY TO GO NOBEL PEACE PRIZE COMMITTEE!!!
Misfit in Tx: wow– that was a slap in the face to the Teabagging right! How embarrassing for them- the entire world knows what racist clowns they are, and anticipated their negative reaction to this great news for our country and the world.
Oooohhh… regressing into childhood… eine Puste Blume………… pfhhhhhtttt!
If it were dry, this beauty would now be disbursed into the air, because I would have blown my breath upon it. Even all these decades later, I still do it and marvel at the wonder of it all.
Now I am contemplating another wonder… and the news blew me away as if I were a dry dandelion seed head… Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Obama!
My thoughts are scattered all over the world in anticipation of the different reactions to this inspiring news.
And now, back to the reality of being bombarded with Pretzel Logic.
Oh, well, I’ve had my moment of exultation!
What will this do to the RepoTaliban idea of impeachment?
Assuming they can even find a legitimate legal basis that would stand above the obscenities of the Bush Presidency.
How would it make the US look if it impeached, or even kept talking about impeachment, when the whole world just voted their target as the Best Person In The World.
And, as they love to point out, (Voice of God sound effects) IN A TIME OF WAR.

Pssssth on Palin. Way to go Obama. The world is tired of haters like her. Now maybe he can get some work done!
“Why would they want to embrace a national message that goes backward as opposed to forward?” asked veteran GOP strategist Chris LaCivita, referring to last year’s presidential campaign. “She could be more of a liability than a positive. That’s not a criticism about her persona, but just the dynamics of these races.”

I am right there with you on that. I have one question for you though,
Do you still make a wish each time you blow those wisps into the wind?
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the award confirmed “America’s return to the hearts of the people of the world”.
After so many years with Bush, and now these screaming, ranting, right wing loonies, I was glad to be reminded that most Americans, and most of the global community, is sane, rational, good, embraces hope and yearns for peace.
Take a stand Obama, the world has got your back. How cool is that?
Great Granny – they must have already removed it. I re-visited the site a minute ago, and got the same thing you did. I wondered at the time how that worked – does he own the pix? Does Sarah have to give permission for him to use them on the internet? Interesting. . . . . .
First, why does everyone keep calling her governor? She’s the gov of nothing.
Second, let’s face it, Palin is on her way down the mountain. She is poison for the GOP. Fodder for the left and late night TV. Her book will not be number one. Her speaking schedule will stay mostly open. In another year people will be asking, Sarah who? Oh, yeah, hahah, saw her on SNL. “All you plumbers in the house pull your pants up….”
Congrats to our Pres. Obama! Good for him!
But this moon thing? WTF is wrong with our country? How is this justified? We are so in debt, why is this allowed? Why? What a giant waste of money just so a bunch of boys can play with their expensive toys. We don’t have the funds to pay for anything but they have a blank check to play in space. How about the great minds at NASA do something for mankind like find a cure for cancer? I just don’t get it. End of rant.

Thank you. Nobel Committee from the all the peace loving citizens of the world.
Dear President Obama,
This morning I am so very proud of you! You are inspiring my sons and grandsons so much. I am doing the “Obama” this day. Which means that I will remain calm, cool and collected as I go through this day accomplishing all that I have to do. Perhaps it would be good if the Republicans try to do an “Obama” and just cool out. Again, congratulations Mr. President!

First, why does everyone keep calling her governor? She’s the gov of nothing.
She’s not even a retired Gov. Ex Gov is the best she deserves. She didn’t earn Former Governor Palin honors.
She probably does get full retirement and life time benifits though. Sigh.
Poor Alaskans will be stuck socialismly supporting her and her family for a long long time, expecially as the baby will be a “dependant” for his entire life time.
NBC White House Correspondent Chuck Todd concurred that the prize posed problems for Obama.
“You’re right, will he go to Stockholm to pick it up?
What does he do with the money? You get a million dollars.
You get over a million dollars for winning this.” (The prize is actually given in Oslo. There is a banquet in Stockholm.)
But Todd was confident that Obama would survive the crisis.
“Mark’s probably right,” he said. “He’ll figure out some way of accepting this in another form, not on his own behalf.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chuck Todd a “journalist” and “Whitehouse correspondent”, does not know the difference between Sweden and Norway!!
THEN he goes on to report that Obama winning the Nobel Prize as a crisis??
THIS is “the press” that is supposed to be keeping the public informed.
He makes Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh look intelligent.
We have had discussions on here before that many believe either Palin, or one of her supporters, monitors this blog. It seems even more probable given that her photos have already been removed from that site. Usually, photos are owned by the photographer – I think the term Intellectual Property applies, unless the contract says differently. Case in point was the recent problems Annie Liebowitz experienced with her photos versus her massive debts. So the publisher, Palin, or even Murdoch may have the rights. However, I’m sure the photographer knew whether or not he could legally post them, so I think it was pressure from someone to remove them.
Palin is known for her vindictiveness and threats to sue, shut down, and otherwise damage anyone who opposes her. I hope none of the comments and opinions posted on here cause her to target this site again. AKM doesn’t need any more grief than she’s experienced in the past from that direction.
Each time I’ve gone into the forum lately, I’ve noticed there are often a large number of “guests” – I will think positive that they are sensible people who will join up and share their thoughts, and aren’t trolls or troublemakers.
Silverfox67 @65 – “I am doing the “Obama” this day. Which means that I will remain calm, cool and collected as I go through this day accomplishing all that I have to do.”
I like that thought! I’m also making a promise to myself that I’m not going to read all the negative garbage today, and what little I read – I’m NOT going to let it get to me! I’m determined to find something to laugh about in each idiotic story that I do bother to read.
I am surprised that Politico actually said negative things about Palin, they are very right-wing and like to Obama-bash whenever they can. Their most recent attempt was to tie Obama to Roman Polanski, simply because some of Polanski’s Hollywood friends were Obama donors.
I am glad Bill Ayres got one over on the righties when he punked them with his sarcasm that they just didn’t get. He was stopped at the airport and asked if he had ghost-written one of Obama’s books and he said yes, that Michele had asked him to. Good for him – payback can be fun.
I’m off to drop off celebration cake to my hubby. Just one piece, though. Last week he wore an Obama t-shirt to work and it literally caused a fight! This award makes me feel so much better about…well, everything! Yeah!
The Nobel Peace Prize, bestowed by a foreign country (socialist no less) will not impress the idiots that think President Obama is not American. They will just fight harder to prove it. The more the president is loved or respected, the harder the fall for him and the commie lefties that support him.
I would LOVE to have seen Orly’s face when she heard.
Oh frabjus day! I burst into tears when I heard the news this morning that MY PRESIDENT won the Nobel Peace Prize. We were in Paris during the anti-Bush protests several years ago. It was alarming to see such strong sentiments against our government. The previous administration squandered every bit of good will we had garnered in the global community and our POTUS is working carefully and deliberately to restore our “face” in the world.
And, since we all know that a certain ex-quitty governor tries to emulate our president at every turn, I am wondering how she will top this? : )
Today it will be raining here in New York, but in my heart, the sun is shining!
I am so proud of our president. Let’s hope that this does encourage him and help sustain him in these troubling times. He has an incredibly difficult job to do.
Narcissist Sarah will have to do something today to thrust herself into the fading spotlight to counter the Nobel Prize. Another Facebook posting attacking Obama sent from her undisclosed location? What a loser.
Oh happy days! Our wonderful president has won the Nobel Peace Prize. The wack-a-doodles are being their typical bitter , hateful selves. They should think about a few things;President gets the NPP, bush got shoes thrown at him. President Obama has kept us safe longer than the bush/darth vader administration. Simple sarah has been rejected by two fairly low on the totem pole repubs, nobody wants to book her for a speech and her book sales are on the down swing. The only thing wrong with today is that I came too late to see yucky pictures of the nitwit. Any mud pups savvy enough to retrieve them for GreatGranny2B and me?
Fresh off his commerical for nuts, Levi decides to pose naked for Playgirl. Which will sell more copies, Sarah’s book, or Levi’s spread? You be the judge:
President Obama’s speech was humble and gracious. Very nicely done. Said he didn’t feel he deserved it. Talked of things to come, coming together as a nation and with the rest of the world.
I just want this man to have enough time to move things forward. He’s been in office only 8 months and has so much that needs to be dealt with. He’s got my support and respect.
I don’t disagree, we Mud puppies don’t want to put AKM or the site in jeopardy.
But the Sarah’s of the world live in a different legal reality than most of the rest of us.
Within the bounds of reason, AKM is not liable for what her commenters write. Yes we are monitored and occasionally censored, but our words and thoughts are our own, not AKM’s.
That is not to say that Sarah and her ilk do not want to loom large as a threat to free speech.
I do not doubt that AKM has sought and received advice for experts, including the contract limitations explicit in the sights Mudflats uses.
AKM does occasionally admonish us to calm down.
I think we can trust to AKM and the monitors to use due diligence, to protect the blog.
When one of us gets a slap down, it just means we need to take a few deep breaths and a step back.
People who choose to be public figures, by law, have given up a lot of the privacy and liable/slander protections the rest of us have. Public figures who live off of their disrespect of others are going to have a difficult time claiming legal injury ,with out exposing themselves to legal backlash.
Where exactly bloggers, especially in open sites like Mudflats lie on the legal spectrum is probably still being figured out.
If you look at what Rush, and others get away with, we are all pretty tame in comparison.
When Sarah wants that privacy and protection back she can have it by giving up the mic and the stage.
Amen, BuffaloGal! I also heard that President Obama will travel to Oslo for the Award Ceremony on December 10. I have every confidence that he will use this honor in a very positive way to “progress” the cause of peace and prosperity in the world. We did good electing him!!
I cast my “yes” vote on whether I thought Obama deserved the prize. He has done so much more than his critics claim–he has restored the image of the US as a leader in the quest for a peaceful world. More has already been done to restore world diplomacy in his short time in office than in the previous eight years and the world respects him for it. If you listen to the speech from the Nobel committee that granted the President this honor, it is obvious that they did not make this decision frivolously–President Barrack Obama brings hope for a new world direction that should be celebrated.
(Unfortunately the wingnuts are again attempting to destroy anything positive that results from this president, embarrassing their country in the process.)
I cast my vote on MSNBC. Please everyone go do the same, there are way too many negative votes. I am very proud of President Obama. It’s very heartening to see that the Nobel committee sees what he is attempting to do. The world has renewed hope. Let’s all work together for peace. I’m sick of the people that are trying to tear everything down. What on earth are they hoping to gain? One thing for sure, Palin will never be nominated for the Nobel Peace prize. She’s campaigning to continue the war in Afghanistan, she has to keep her “dinner” buddy in business! Yuck on Scarah.
Way to go President Obama!
President Obama started the world peace dialogue again. That is huge. Who could have gotten most all the countries together again? This is an unprecedented accomplishment and the Repubs are jealous. They choose to pick at Obama, not recognizing the magnitude of this national honor for America. They are the same ones who spewed lies during the campaign. Sore losers and very uneducated people. Someone posted the other day, that the folks who pre-ordered Palin’s book on Amazon, did not purchase books before. That is very telling of the IQ factor and/or low interest in being open to well rounded knowledge of the Repubs.
Toothache help! A filling cracked recently and I just now chewed on that side. Pain that nearly made my eyes bleed went shooting in to my brain. I popped a few advil and then swabbed the gum with vodka. Besides deciding to actually drink the vodka at noon, does anyone know of a really good remedy for a raw dental nerve? (dentist is not an option unless it’s dire. no $$) Also can’t do Orajel (gel?) because I’m sensitive to it. (but gawd, i’m open to just about anything else at the moment !)
I blame POTUS because I was watching the speech and not paying attention to chewing. I’m willing to forgive tho. It’s the liberal in me. But dayam, I’m sweating it’s so painful. gak!
I am so proud for the President; maybe even more for his speech today. He accepted graciously and with great diplomacy. He recognized the gesture as hope and inspiration, not necessarily the accomplishment of world peace.
As of noonish eastern time (8am Alaska time, I think) those pics are not found. I have to wonder who is scrubbing Sarah’s pictures almost as soon as they are posted on progressive blogs. Must take up every minute of their day.
Buffalo Gal: The pharmacies have a new product. It’s a kit costing about maybe $6. It’s a temporary filling that you can apply on your tooth, in case a filling comes out. Or it can be used on a cavity temporarily until you see a dentist. I don’t know the name, but they have them in the Rite-Aid stores.
How exciting….the rest of the world is thumbing their noses at the rignt wing crazies. Obama is only the third US President to receive this award. The other two Teddy Roosevelt (1906) & Woodrow Willson (1916), that’s pretty good company to be in.
A special thanks to AKM & all the other Alaskan bloggers for their vigilance is keepiing Quitty in the public eye. It appears to be working. She is a toxic person & her likes could destroy this country. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Pres Obama has attempted more in his 10 months than (for example) Bush did in his entire life! Obama can’t help and probably wasn’t prepared for this war against him by his own Congress. I’m ashamed of the house & senate for this disgusting behavior in our government! …their reasons for bucking him are obviously personal, extremely ignorant, and a self-serving act! … an un-American, inexplicable fear, in my opinion.
@92, 92 & 94 – Good call on the temp filling! Forgot about those. Am going to send my son up to Rite Aid. SameOld, I know I’ll eventually have to go but I have no upfront cash and the dentists that I can get to locally today won’t deal with you otherwise. So! ice compress and temp filling it is! Thanks much.
BuffaloGal – It might be worth seeing if you can do payment arrangements with a dentist. You don’t want to end up with bad decay under that cracked filling.
Meanwhile, though, you could try oil of cloves, which is an old time anesthetic remedy that might help.
GA Peach a/k/a Lance the Boil aka Crust Scramblesays:
Yes, mom used cloves on us as kids when we couldn’t go to the dentist. Also take something for the pain. She also rubbed whiskey on our gums too, it helps the cloves to penetrate. Best to you, Buffalo Gal, I know what you mean about the dentists wanting money before they do any work. They need emergency rooms for dental patients!
The DNC has responded quite sharply to the repub’s rants about the Nobel Peace Prize. Thanks, DNC!
“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize. Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim. “
I hope this award offers the Democratic Party a swift reminder that voters -and the world at large, still await great things from Obama and that weareall behind him rooting forhim to bring those promises to fuition.
Marnie @84 – Thanks for bringing me up to speed! I’m new to the blog-world and I have every confidence that AKM will keep us in line if we cross over it. Rush and those others surely do say hateful things and I don’t know how they get away with, except that their money talks.
“Oh, and the call girl outfits, and hooker boots”
LOL – you forgot the red monkey shoes!
Please everyone, don’t honor some kind of poll as to whether President Obama “deserves” this award by casting a vote. Even initiating a poll like that indicates that someone thinks he does not deserve it. And the first ones to vote of course will be the people who are angry and mean and say he should not have been given the award. I think I read one comment that indicates that the Nobel Committee has made a statement that they do not want their decision to be questioned; it was unanimous. What happened to respect and civility? The Committee made their decision; they gave the award to the person they feel deserves it. Hope lives on (if not here in these United States) in the world.
Buffalo, go out and by a little bottle of oil of cloves, and use a qtip and apply to your tooth. That will stop the pain until you can get to a dentist.
What happened to respect and civility?
daisy dem, I am afraid the GOP doesn’t know those words.
BG- From the mayo clinic:Self-care tips
Until you can see your dentist, try these self-care tips for a toothache:
Rinse your mouth with warm water.
Use dental floss to remove any food particles wedged between your teeth.
Take an over-the-counter (OTC) pain reliever to dull the ache.
Apply an OTC antiseptic containing benzocaine directly to the irritated tooth and gum to temporarily relieve pain. Direct application of oil of cloves (eugenol) also may help. Don’t place aspirin or another painkiller directly against your gums, as it may burn your gum tissue.
Swelling, pain when you bite, a foul-tasting discharge and gum redness indicate infection. See your dentist as soon as possible.
Call your dentist if:
The pain persists for more than a day or two
You have fever with the toothache
You have trouble breathing or swallowing
Pawlenty: The ‘appropriate response’ to Obama winning the Nobel is to say ‘congratulations.’
Will Rush demean him today and will he apologize tomorrow?
Here is POTUS’ comment – a true gentleman, eh?
“I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but a recognition of the role of American leadership” in the world, Obama said in remarks moments ago. “To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures” who won in the past, he added. “I will accept this award as a call to action, a call to all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st Century.”
beautiful dandelion akm. looks real enough to touch.
i am very happy this morning for president Obama.
yes we can. yes we did. my feet are an inch off the ground. so happy
I don’t generally get into what Sarah looks like or baby gate speculations. Though I do enjoy to shark her. She is just such an easy target.
But to me she looks more like 55 than 45. She has had a tough year and that puts age on you. She appears anorexic as well. But to me, and I’ve been there already, she is looking post menopausal-ish.
I can sympathize with the wild mood swings of menopause (not everybody get them, I know). But like PMS you have to approach your emotions intellectually, realizing where some of them may be coming from.
I have absolutely no sympathy for a person who spreads lies about death panels and consorting with terrorist, and encouraging, however tacitly, death threats against a political opponent –
but if she has been going through early menopause and trying to run for VP and learning how to be Gov, and dealing with an special needs baby and a pregnant amoral daughter all at the same time, it easy to see how she could be so wacko, especially since she seems pretty well programed that way to start with.
But we do have a choice to grow old with as much dignity as we can or to grow old uglyly. And we know which choice Sarah as made so far.
Isn’t it amazing (and embarrassing) that world leaders celebrate for Obama and here in the good ol’ USA the GOP trash talks the President and questions the honor given to him. I am just shaking my head.
Something has gone terribly wrong in this country, and I think we all know what it is…..G…O….P.
President Obama could solve all of our problems and the world’s problems, and the GOP would still criticize him about like, Gee, he doesn’t like mustard—how unAmerican. He must be some kind of nazi, Muslim, Communist, Marxist, Socialist. They are crazy.
I find it funny that those Palin photos are gone. I looked at them this morning and some were really dorky and unattractive. I was wondering how long it would take for terror-Palin to demand they come down.
I looked at the photos as well this morning, but it never occurred to me to save them.
Someone must have demanded that he take them down. When I looked there were six comments about the photos, presumably from other photographers. They were discussing the lighting and which photograph that they liked best.
This would be a big deal for a photographer, taking pics of Palin would ensure they got their name out. I cannot see why he would willingly take the pics off his blog.
From a poster on IM:
“The Nobel Peace Prize is an award presented to either an individual or an organization in accordance with Alfred Nobel’s living will. Alfred Nobel, creator of the five Nobel Prizes, was a Swedish inventor and industrialist. He disposed the Nobel Peace Prize in his will to be awarded to “the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.” The Nobel Peace Prize differs from the Nobel Prizes in literature, physics, chemistry, and medicine or physiology in that it may be presented not only to individuals, but also to organizations that are actively engaged in a process or effort that intends to promote world peace. The prize can be awarded for current efforts, rather than for having accomplished a goal or resolved an issue.”
Everyone needs to read and understand the spirit in which this award was given. Pass it on.
Obama’s election and foreign policy moves caused a dramatic improvement in the image of the U.S. around the world. A 25-nation poll of 27,000 people released in July by the Pew Global Attitudes Project found double-digit boosts to the percentage of people viewing the U.S. favorably in countries around the world. That indicator had plunged across the world under President George W. Bush.
For 8 years the US has been a baby crying on its back in its crib, periodically vomiting on those who came near. With Obama we have regained adult status in the world. Basic respect for our world partners and a desire to work together to make a better world for ALL its inhabitants is what comes through when Obama engages others at the national level. We can dismiss the domestic naysayers who because of politics want Obama to fail so their party can once again pillage the world. The relief and hope for the future of the world is clear in this award. With him or not- he has already made an incalculable difference in the hope and aspirations for the US and the world.
Am glad for President Obama. Why do reporters have to start immediately speculating on everything, and naysaying this great news, before he even accepts the honor and prize?
IMO, PO has shown his peaceful nature in how he copes, and how he reacts to things. He keeps a very cool head, gives the world and questionable leaders the benefit of the doubt. He knows when to say little, and when to speak out.
#134 : The question is, once Levi whips out his Johnston, will his credibility be enhanced, or shrink?
I agree that in their quest for publicity and money, without regard to dignity, Sarah and Levi really are two peas in a pod. They should combine their acts.
Well… it looks like the World Community values our American ideas and values more highly than the RepugNuts.
The GOP RepugNuts response to this Award have escaped the criticism of Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert until Monday ,BUT… I am sure that Bill Maher has just added some material for his Show tonight.
Also about Letterman :He has a regular segment on his Show now
called ” Things I would rather be doing instead of reading Sarah Palin’s new book”. They show a clip of people doing very stupid or painful things.
Just like he did with all those Bush clips about ” Famous Moments in Presidential History ”
I’m sure there are many more of these to come down the road. Nov. 17th won’t come soon enough for SP.
Also Jimmy Kimmel is using SP in his jokes as well. SP = Joke these days.
He told some joke about these high odds 45,000 to 1. Then explained in the joke that things have now changed ( gone up ) and the odds are now about 100,000 to 1.
Punch line: The chance of you winning with those odds is about as likely as Sarah Palin winning the Presidency in 2012 .
Wait till the Comedians get hold of her book. Her name will be EVERYWHERE!
I agree except Quitty is in her 40′s & Levi’s just a kid. I must say, I’m beginning to question if Levi is getting good advice. Seems like Tank & Rex are wanting a pretty good size piece of the pie.
The news regarding Obama is starting to really annoy me. MSM is like having Eeyore around all the time. They are like a little black cloud everywhere you go…don’t be happy….don’t feel good….don’t be proud of your president. I hate MSM they are such a downer. Love their choice of people to interview regarding the award. Think I’ll watch the President’s Cup & feel good about the Prez. If they can’t be better Americans than …. them.
My take on the Levi issue is simple. It is my understanding that the photo will be from behind. Reaction? I bust out in giggles every time I think about it. My grandson Aaron is the same age and I’m afraid I would be reminded of changing diapers every time I saw such a picture. Now if it was Sean Connery……………
Levi has a lot of good will. He’s a good looking kid and is just cashing in on what he has while he has the chance. He can make some money and plan some sort of future the Palins can’t mess with. As Kinky Friedman used to say … when the Lord closes a door, he opens a little window. I expect he’s having a lot of fun and Sarah isn’t. Bristol chose mommy. Too bad!
Phoebe #140 True, there is a substantial difference in chronological age, but in emotional maturity Sarah is about 15 and Levi is 19, so they are pretty close in age. What’s the age of consent in AK?
Yesterday, I had this searing, bleeding out the eyeballs pain just under my chin. It was so bad, I almost cried out of frustration and just had to walk around the house quietly to get a grip on the pain. It was horrific. Felt like a badly pulled muscle, but spasming.
Even considered going to emergency. It was an ebb and flow kind of thing… 5 minutes of relative comfort followed by 20 minutes of intense pain. Just awful.
Popped a bunch of tylenol like every 1/2 hour and got some relief. Took a tylenol PM and got a good night’s rest.
Today, the pain has moved from below my chin to a lower tooth. My chin is practically pain free and now my tooth is troubling me.
This is similar to what I had back in March. I ended up with anti-biotics and then had a broken tooth (way in the back, not noticeable at all) removed because it couldn’t be saved. There was a huge pocket of infection there. Relief was almost immediate, though, and I don’t regret the extraction for a minute.
I’m terrified that I’ll have to go through that kind of pain again (I waited as long as possible to see a dentist, trying home remedies, etc.).
Please! Find a way to see a dentist ASAP!
I think ER’s have to treat you regardless of insurance, so you might try that as well. I’m thinking of that route and dealing with money later. Not even naughty girls should have to experience the kind of pain I had yesterday and that I feel returning today (although the locale is a bit different).
Best as you muddle through this. I hope it’s not as bad as mine.
On a lighter note: Do we have the coolest President EVER, or WHAT? He’s definitely cooler than even JFK! Many happy thoughts on a well deserved award and humble speech following the news.
What a class act!
And I’m VERY proud to be a voting American today!!!
For me, one of the most frustrating things about the Bush presidency (and there were MANY!) was the change in how the world saw the US during those years. After 9/11, 90% of the world was united with us and felt a strong connection with Americans. In the next 7 1/2 years, Bush squandered that support and managed to turn even our allies against us.
How exciting to have our new President make such a dramatic turnaround in the world’s perception of us in the short time he’s been in office. How exciting to think of how much he can accomplish in the next 3 (or 7) years!
I hope all of the small loose objects are removed from within Sarahs reach today because she is not having a good weekend. They may have to tie her down to a chair… Again. { Would love to be a fly on the wall in THAT room}
Her personal ‘ perceived ‘ Arch-Enemy Rivals are receiving Awards today.
that is their ONLY function…drooling over attractive, conservative women.
ie: Pat Buchanan, Chris Matthews, John McCain, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly…even Glenn Beck, Donald Trump, and every Repub member of Congress caught with their infidelity pants down! …it’s a definite theme to that side. sure, the argument would be that men in general (even Dems), but COME ON…doesn’t anybody else see this consistency on the Repub side??? …the Bible-thumping, religious preaching, hypocritical side?!?!!!
It makes me feel better that the repubs are unraveling, thank goodness. They are now infighting amongst themselves, as it should be. I apologize if this has been posted already, I am way behind reading.
The moral Repubs are standing up to the crazies with the crazy hate agenda, it’s about time.
Penquin Books announced that it is moving up the publication date of The Persecution of Sarah Palin by Matthew Continetti from next February to November 12, 2009 to coincide with the publication of Palin’s controversial memoir.
The book is subtitled: How the Elite Media Tried to Bring Down a Rising Star.
Ok, based on the pictures from the link UK Lady posted, I don’t think Palin has gone under the scalpel…at least not for those pictures. The crepy skin is still under the eyes, the nasal labial folds are still deep, and she has that little tell tale crease in her chin you get after a certain age. Her skin tone does look good…must come from a diet high in fish oils. Looking at the photo of her in the orange shirt…those look suspiciously like some c-cup implants. I seem to recall her being rather flat chested? Sorry – I’m being shallow
nswfmCA: Thanks for the sympathies. Yes, Detroit needs an end to bad news! First, a bad call may have cost us the World Series and now we have a broken Wing. If there’s one thing we do well, it’s celebrate sports success. And we NEED something to celebrate. A broken Wing just puts us further behind in the party planning.
A jump start (lookie there! a PUN!) to the auto industry would cheer us up immensely as well. We need to BUILD something. It’s what we DO here! We’re a patient and sturdy lot, but we’ve been waiting a long time for turnaround. I guess we’ll wait just a bit longer.
The formal portrait of SP is terrible! The others just look stupid. Her teeth and boobs seem different, but I’m not doing a side-by-side comparison, so I could be wrong.
Can’t believe that Limbaugh is supposed to judge a beauty contest! Then again, isn’t he all for the objectification of women?
He had some pretty inflammatory monologue today… he’s siding with the Taliban that our President “doesn’t deserve” the NPP. Who is HE to say? Since when does HE sit on the committee? And, has he even read the (for lack of better term) “mission statement” of the prize? It is not only for accomplishment, but for a vision and action towards the vision. Rachel is citing many other recipients who hadn’t yet achieved, but had the wheels in motion to accomplish something for the greater good of the world.
NO… he should NOT turn it down!!!
Finally, can’t believe that you are ALL neglecting the REAL importance of this day… BO THE PUPPY turned ONE YEAR OLD today!!! Happy Birthday to BO!
No excuse.
Happy Friday, congratulations to our President, and health and peace to all.
I’m looking at the keatley site, and I don’t see any plastic surgery, just some caps on her teef. The portrait of her is bad, her nose looks huge and she looks like she aged a bunch in the last year.
AKM and Alaskans. I posted this on the other thread.
The Newspaper, the ADN , did not even cover the Nobel Peace Prize story.
There is no story on the Politics Page. I would call the Newspaper and ask them WHY? http://www.adn.com/news/politics/
I don’t think the Sheriff ( Phx, AZ) is looking into, nothing. If you have been following Sheriff Arpaio who would know he doesn’t have a heart but have pink cuffs.
“This is a complete disgrace and gross act towards our president,” said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, “My deputies are looking into all avenues of the incident, and it is a top priority.”
Is it any wonder The Taliban, in the US and abroad, have denounced Obama’s prize.The Taliban in Afghanistan want us out and of course the fascist US Taliban, the republican party as it now stands would denounce it for anyone not one of their own. LOL. The very religious right that think only they are right are destroying the once proud GOP. It is no longer the GOP. I really don’t know what name you could give these people that want war at any cost and violence at any cost.IMO the moderates don’t know where to turn. JMO
Thanks to the people who put up the definition of why the award was given .it sure helped me.I saved it to word pad so I could use it when the naysayers started as I knew they would. One other comment was would palin give the money earned from her book to0 charity? I don’t think so. Do governors get pensions for life even when they quit before their terms are up.I hope Alaska fights that one.
I’ve been so busy I didn’t even notice it’s Friday. So glad that it is, though. What a beautiful little dewy gift this morning, akm.
Our President just won the Nobel Peace Prize!! Glad there are some people out there noticing what he’s doing. Rather nice news to replace the “Barack Obama has so little respect he can’t even get the Olympics for us” snickers.
Pres. Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize! The world is sending the US a grateful thank-you. Take that Sarah, Rush, Hannity, and Glenn Beck!
What an incredible day this will be! I still hadn’t fallen asleep and it is 3 in the morning here. I guess there was a reason for my insomnia.
It appears that I will now be awake to see how the moon reacts to all of this. Also, I might just have to watch a bit of Fox news to see how they handle this one. Did I just say that? Ewwwww….
How exciting that our President has won the Nobel Peace Prize ….hip hip hooray
Going to congratulate him on his selection
I’m sure the rethugs will have something cruel to say about this
Love all your photos AKM, I have been extremely busy but have taken quick glances to try and keep up with the news
I have a new person in my office and I opened my computer and showed her where I go for the news…she got a kick out of the fact that I go to an Alaskan website to keep upon events…..I think she’s a convert, maybe a new mudpuppy
Just saw that about the President winning the Nobel Peace Prize. What a shocker…a happy shocker, but still?
Wonder how the right is going to react to this news. Should be fun to watch.
I love the photo, AKM.
WOW – what a great thing to wake up to! Here I sit in my fuzzy slippers and pj’s with a silly grin on my face at 6:30 in the morning!
AHHHH, Life is good. Congratulations President Obama!
The funny thing is that the haters will use this as fuel to their fire – because they hate peace!
I saw the headlines as I was about to go to sleep. Now the sound of rightwing heads exploding is keeping me awake. Guess I’ll stay up and celebrate by watching nasa.gov/ntv!
After all the GOP insanity, I hope the NPP will boost Obama and make him feel obligated to go forth with all that s good and fair, despite the crazies.
Sarah gets a ghost writer to produce a book, that guy who pals around with Ayres gets the Nobel Peace Prize… Sarah must be tearing her hair extensions out.
What a happy Friday!
I think it’s very exciting that President Obama won the Peace Prize. He is being recognized for his efforts to make a change in the world. I’m sure his opponents will only be critical though. Will be interesting to hear what they have to say.
Beautiful photo. Good Morning!
Not even 50 years old and he’s the POTUS, is working to fix a tanked economy, bring health care to all Americans, bring the US back to a place of respect in the eyes of the rest of the world, working to begin a real green movement that will help to begin a healing of the environment, making strides to bring comprimise and perhaps eventual peace in the Middle East, weighing the very, very heavy decision about 2 wars that were disasterously mismanaged AND he is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize …..
and yet the world of twisted wingnuts is going to be all over him today with conspiracy theories about the award and somehow it will drive home the truth of him being a commiesocialistnazidicatator bent on the destruction of America and God.
Well I for one respect his efforts and give him credit for not having fled DC, screaming and heading for the hills.
Why does Sarah’s hair always look so dirty? I was looking at Keatley’s pictures and she just looks like she needs a good shower and clean up. The phrase “rode hard and put away wet” comes to mind.
Every once in a while the Nobel Prize committee makes a political statement. Gore and Obama as well as Mandela and many others are examples. But they make their statement on an international level.
This is an incredibly powerful, overt, deliberate slap down of the Republican party and its yapping media puppets.
The rest of the world supports Obama and his outlook. This President of the United States has put us back in a world leadership role that was destroyed by the Bushies.
Probably that initial bump was bulk buying by various Repub and ReligioRight groups.
As many mudpuppies have already foreseen, probably most of her sales will be at political functions, where they will either be prizes, or used as money raisers.
I am sure that most conservative net sites are going to sell her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Funny comment on HuffPo about $P:
“This has to be the political equivalent of a one night stand for Palin. The GOP had its way and now never calls.”
Can you picture her rabidly checking her BlackBerries?
Oh, I just got word- they’re claiming Obama won because it was “affirmative action”.
Oh, my god.
They have ZERO class.
Great news to wake up to. Way to go President Obama! We’re proud of you.

So, the Taliban and the GOP will denounce it, while the rest of the world celebrates the choice. Ironic, what a “pair.”
She is OVER. No one wants her “help”

Oooohhh… regressing into childhood… eine Puste Blume………… pfhhhhhtttt!
If it were dry, this beauty would now be disbursed into the air, because I would have blown my breath upon it. Even all these decades later, I still do it and marvel at the wonder of it all……………………….
——————————————————
I am right there with you on that. I have one question for you though,
Do you still make a wish each time you blow those wisps into the wind?
I do.
I especially like this quote from the BBC report:
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the award confirmed “America’s return to the hearts of the people of the world”.
After so many years with Bush, and now these screaming, ranting, right wing loonies, I was glad to be reminded that most Americans, and most of the global community, is sane, rational, good, embraces hope and yearns for peace.
Take a stand Obama, the world has got your back. How cool is that?
Uh-oh……. Tried several times http://www.keatleyphoto.com/blog/archives/2970
I get a Not Found message.
Did they take it down already because Palin didn’t like the pictures or comments?
AKM – Amazing photo – such an eye for nature’s beauty!
Kudos to POTUS – no matter what junk the righties try to throw out today, this Prize will keep us all on a natural high.
MSNBC has a poll up whether Obama is deserving, the No’s are winning right now.
Let’s show em.
Go vote.

But, everybody’s ancestors were Black Africans. Why do the Repos hate themselves so much?
Here is the link to cast your vote on the Obama poll:
http://www.newsvine.com/_question/2009/10/09/3364945-is-president-obama-deserving-of-the-nobel-peace-prize
Current tally is only 26% yes to 60% no
Great Granny – they must have already removed it.

Yep, Palin’s pictures are gone from that site.
Seems that the Republicans have decided that Sarah Palin is poison.

Damn, another set of pictures scrubbed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chuck Todd a “journalist” and “Whitehouse correspondent”, does not know the difference between Sweden and Norway!!
THEN he goes on to report that Obama winning the Nobel Prize as a crisis??
THIS is “the press” that is supposed to be keeping the public informed.
He makes Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh look intelligent.
We have had discussions on here before that many believe either Palin, or one of her supporters, monitors this blog. It seems even more probable given that her photos have already been removed from that site. Usually, photos are owned by the photographer – I think the term Intellectual Property applies, unless the contract says differently. Case in point was the recent problems Annie Liebowitz experienced with her photos versus her massive debts. So the publisher, Palin, or even Murdoch may have the rights. However, I’m sure the photographer knew whether or not he could legally post them, so I think it was pressure from someone to remove them.
Palin is known for her vindictiveness and threats to sue, shut down, and otherwise damage anyone who opposes her. I hope none of the comments and opinions posted on here cause her to target this site again. AKM doesn’t need any more grief than she’s experienced in the past from that direction.
Each time I’ve gone into the forum lately, I’ve noticed there are often a large number of “guests” – I will think positive that they are sensible people who will join up and share their thoughts, and aren’t trolls or troublemakers.
Silverfox67 @65 – “I am doing the “Obama” this day. Which means that I will remain calm, cool and collected as I go through this day accomplishing all that I have to do.”
I like that thought! I’m also making a promise to myself that I’m not going to read all the negative garbage today, and what little I read – I’m NOT going to let it get to me! I’m determined to find something to laugh about in each idiotic story that I do bother to read.
I am surprised that Politico actually said negative things about Palin, they are very right-wing and like to Obama-bash whenever they can. Their most recent attempt was to tie Obama to Roman Polanski, simply because some of Polanski’s Hollywood friends were Obama donors.
I am glad Bill Ayres got one over on the righties when he punked them with his sarcasm that they just didn’t get. He was stopped at the airport and asked if he had ghost-written one of Obama’s books and he said yes, that Michele had asked him to. Good for him – payback can be fun.
GreatGranny- We’ll just let Palin enjoy her “power” because it’s running out fast. That bunnies symbols ‘ll be stopping very soon.
Obama is the man of the hour. She’s just mad they stopped talking about her #1, I mean #2, I mean #3 (or is it #4 already) book.
I’m off to drop off celebration cake to my hubby. Just one piece, though. Last week he wore an Obama t-shirt to work and it literally caused a fight! This award makes me feel so much better about…well, everything! Yeah!
The Nobel Peace Prize, bestowed by a foreign country (socialist no less) will not impress the idiots that think President Obama is not American. They will just fight harder to prove it. The more the president is loved or respected, the harder the fall for him and the commie lefties that support him.
I would LOVE to have seen Orly’s face when she heard.
Oh frabjus day! I burst into tears when I heard the news this morning that MY PRESIDENT won the Nobel Peace Prize. We were in Paris during the anti-Bush protests several years ago. It was alarming to see such strong sentiments against our government. The previous administration squandered every bit of good will we had garnered in the global community and our POTUS is working carefully and deliberately to restore our “face” in the world.
And, since we all know that a certain ex-quitty governor tries to emulate our president at every turn, I am wondering how she will top this? : )
Today it will be raining here in New York, but in my heart, the sun is shining!
I am so proud of our president. Let’s hope that this does encourage him and help sustain him in these troubling times. He has an incredibly difficult job to do.
Narcissist Sarah will have to do something today to thrust herself into the fading spotlight to counter the Nobel Prize. Another Facebook posting attacking Obama sent from her undisclosed location? What a loser.
Oh happy days! Our wonderful president has won the Nobel Peace Prize. The wack-a-doodles are being their typical bitter , hateful selves. They should think about a few things;President gets the NPP, bush got shoes thrown at him. President Obama has kept us safe longer than the bush/darth vader administration. Simple sarah has been rejected by two fairly low on the totem pole repubs, nobody wants to book her for a speech and her book sales are on the down swing. The only thing wrong with today is that I came too late to see yucky pictures of the nitwit. Any mud pups savvy enough to retrieve them for GreatGranny2B and me?
President Obama’s speech was humble and gracious. Very nicely done. Said he didn’t feel he deserved it. Talked of things to come, coming together as a nation and with the rest of the world.
I just want this man to have enough time to move things forward. He’s been in office only 8 months and has so much that needs to be dealt with. He’s got my support and respect.
I don’t disagree, we Mud puppies don’t want to put AKM or the site in jeopardy.
But the Sarah’s of the world live in a different legal reality than most of the rest of us.
Within the bounds of reason, AKM is not liable for what her commenters write. Yes we are monitored and occasionally censored, but our words and thoughts are our own, not AKM’s.
That is not to say that Sarah and her ilk do not want to loom large as a threat to free speech.
I do not doubt that AKM has sought and received advice for experts, including the contract limitations explicit in the sights Mudflats uses.
AKM does occasionally admonish us to calm down.
I think we can trust to AKM and the monitors to use due diligence, to protect the blog.
When one of us gets a slap down, it just means we need to take a few deep breaths and a step back.
People who choose to be public figures, by law, have given up a lot of the privacy and liable/slander protections the rest of us have. Public figures who live off of their disrespect of others are going to have a difficult time claiming legal injury ,with out exposing themselves to legal backlash.
Where exactly bloggers, especially in open sites like Mudflats lie on the legal spectrum is probably still being figured out.
If you look at what Rush, and others get away with, we are all pretty tame in comparison.
When Sarah wants that privacy and protection back she can have it by giving up the mic and the stage.
Oh, and the call girl outfits, and hooker boots.
Amen, BuffaloGal! I also heard that President Obama will travel to Oslo for the Award Ceremony on December 10. I have every confidence that he will use this honor in a very positive way to “progress” the cause of peace and prosperity in the world. We did good electing him!!
I cast my “yes” vote on whether I thought Obama deserved the prize. He has done so much more than his critics claim–he has restored the image of the US as a leader in the quest for a peaceful world. More has already been done to restore world diplomacy in his short time in office than in the previous eight years and the world respects him for it. If you listen to the speech from the Nobel committee that granted the President this honor, it is obvious that they did not make this decision frivolously–President Barrack Obama brings hope for a new world direction that should be celebrated.
(Unfortunately the wingnuts are again attempting to destroy anything positive that results from this president, embarrassing their country in the process.)
I cast my vote on MSNBC. Please everyone go do the same, there are way too many negative votes. I am very proud of President Obama. It’s very heartening to see that the Nobel committee sees what he is attempting to do. The world has renewed hope. Let’s all work together for peace. I’m sick of the people that are trying to tear everything down. What on earth are they hoping to gain? One thing for sure, Palin will never be nominated for the Nobel Peace prize. She’s campaigning to continue the war in Afghanistan, she has to keep her “dinner” buddy in business! Yuck on Scarah.
Way to go President Obama!
President Obama started the world peace dialogue again. That is huge. Who could have gotten most all the countries together again? This is an unprecedented accomplishment and the Repubs are jealous. They choose to pick at Obama, not recognizing the magnitude of this national honor for America. They are the same ones who spewed lies during the campaign. Sore losers and very uneducated people. Someone posted the other day, that the folks who pre-ordered Palin’s book on Amazon, did not purchase books before. That is very telling of the IQ factor and/or low interest in being open to well rounded knowledge of the Repubs.
Toothache help! A filling cracked recently and I just now chewed on that side. Pain that nearly made my eyes bleed went shooting in to my brain. I popped a few advil and then swabbed the gum with vodka. Besides deciding to actually drink the vodka at noon, does anyone know of a really good remedy for a raw dental nerve? (dentist is not an option unless it’s dire. no $$) Also can’t do Orajel (gel?) because I’m sensitive to it. (but gawd, i’m open to just about anything else at the moment !)
I blame POTUS because I was watching the speech and not paying attention to chewing. I’m willing to forgive tho. It’s the liberal in me. But dayam, I’m sweating it’s so painful. gak!
I am so proud for the President; maybe even more for his speech today. He accepted graciously and with great diplomacy. He recognized the gesture as hope and inspiration, not necessarily the accomplishment of world peace.
@pantsonfire 2:49am
As of noonish eastern time (8am Alaska time, I think) those pics are not found. I have to wonder who is scrubbing Sarah’s pictures almost as soon as they are posted on progressive blogs. Must take up every minute of their day.
Buffalo Gal: The pharmacies have a new product. It’s a kit costing about maybe $6. It’s a temporary filling that you can apply on your tooth, in case a filling comes out. Or it can be used on a cavity temporarily until you see a dentist. I don’t know the name, but they have them in the Rite-Aid stores.
BG, I’m so sorry! The drug store has temporary fillers for that kind of problem. I’ve seen them, but haven’t used them- in the toothbrush section! Go!
BuffaloGal … it’s dire. Abyss time. Put cold on it cause that slows the blood flow. Get the filling replaced before you lose the tooth.
Does anyone think that winning the NPP will have an influence on Pres. Obama’s decision to send more troops to Afghanistan or not? I am curious…
How exciting….the rest of the world is thumbing their noses at the rignt wing crazies. Obama is only the third US President to receive this award. The other two Teddy Roosevelt (1906) & Woodrow Willson (1916), that’s pretty good company to be in.
A special thanks to AKM & all the other Alaskan bloggers for their vigilance is keepiing Quitty in the public eye. It appears to be working. She is a toxic person & her likes could destroy this country. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Pres Obama has attempted more in his 10 months than (for example) Bush did in his entire life! Obama can’t help and probably wasn’t prepared for this war against him by his own Congress. I’m ashamed of the house & senate for this disgusting behavior in our government! …their reasons for bucking him are obviously personal, extremely ignorant, and a self-serving act! … an un-American, inexplicable fear, in my opinion.
@92, 92 & 94 – Good call on the temp filling! Forgot about those. Am going to send my son up to Rite Aid. SameOld, I know I’ll eventually have to go but I have no upfront cash and the dentists that I can get to locally today won’t deal with you otherwise. So! ice compress and temp filling it is! Thanks much.
BuffaloGal – It might be worth seeing if you can do payment arrangements with a dentist. You don’t want to end up with bad decay under that cracked filling.
Meanwhile, though, you could try oil of cloves, which is an old time anesthetic remedy that might help.
BG, you might see if there is a free clinic in your area.
http://www.freeclinics.us/freeclinic.php
The one near me (35 miles) has a dentist that is a big supporter.
Clove oil does work, btw.
Yes, mom used cloves on us as kids when we couldn’t go to the dentist. Also take something for the pain. She also rubbed whiskey on our gums too, it helps the cloves to penetrate. Best to you, Buffalo Gal, I know what you mean about the dentists wanting money before they do any work. They need emergency rooms for dental patients!
The DNC has responded quite sharply to the repub’s rants about the Nobel Peace Prize. Thanks, DNC!
“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize. Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim. “
Ooh Lani, thanks for that quote. That tells it like it is.
It sure is nice that America is starting to be seen by the world as something other than dog $hit to be wiped off the bottom of its shoe.
I was just going to paste the same thing Lani.
I hope this award offers the Democratic Party a swift reminder that voters -and the world at large, still await great things from Obama and that weareall behind him rooting forhim to bring those promises to fuition.
Is a new day dawning?
Marnie @84 – Thanks for bringing me up to speed! I’m new to the blog-world and I have every confidence that AKM will keep us in line if we cross over it. Rush and those others surely do say hateful things and I don’t know how they get away with, except that their money talks.
“Oh, and the call girl outfits, and hooker boots”
LOL – you forgot the red monkey shoes!
We should all be proud of our POTUS. Being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize is an incredible honor for this country.
And, I love that photo AKM.
Eastern Montana got its first “dusting” of snow this week — balmy 21 degrees out there BRRRR
Please everyone, don’t honor some kind of poll as to whether President Obama “deserves” this award by casting a vote. Even initiating a poll like that indicates that someone thinks he does not deserve it. And the first ones to vote of course will be the people who are angry and mean and say he should not have been given the award. I think I read one comment that indicates that the Nobel Committee has made a statement that they do not want their decision to be questioned; it was unanimous. What happened to respect and civility? The Committee made their decision; they gave the award to the person they feel deserves it. Hope lives on (if not here in these United States) in the world.
Buffalo, go out and by a little bottle of oil of cloves, and use a qtip and apply to your tooth. That will stop the pain until you can get to a dentist.
BuffaloGal, Also make sure the area is dry before you put the temp in …. I know it hurts but it reduced the chances of abscess.
What happened to respect and civility?
daisy dem, I am afraid the GOP doesn’t know those words.
BG- From the mayo clinic:Self-care tips
Until you can see your dentist, try these self-care tips for a toothache:
Rinse your mouth with warm water.
Use dental floss to remove any food particles wedged between your teeth.
Take an over-the-counter (OTC) pain reliever to dull the ache.
Apply an OTC antiseptic containing benzocaine directly to the irritated tooth and gum to temporarily relieve pain. Direct application of oil of cloves (eugenol) also may help. Don’t place aspirin or another painkiller directly against your gums, as it may burn your gum tissue.
Swelling, pain when you bite, a foul-tasting discharge and gum redness indicate infection. See your dentist as soon as possible.
Call your dentist if:
The pain persists for more than a day or two
You have fever with the toothache
You have trouble breathing or swallowing
About time the DNC grew a pair. Now they need to lean on the blue dogs and make them toe the line. Then maybe Obama *can* get something done.
My sister lives in Buffalo & she has used the clinic at Univ of Buffalo. Good luck…nothing like a painful toothache.
beautiful dandelion akm. looks real enough to touch.
i am very happy this morning for president Obama.
yes we can. yes we did. my feet are an inch off the ground. so happy
I don’t generally get into what Sarah looks like or baby gate speculations. Though I do enjoy to shark her. She is just such an easy target.
But to me she looks more like 55 than 45. She has had a tough year and that puts age on you. She appears anorexic as well. But to me, and I’ve been there already, she is looking post menopausal-ish.
I can sympathize with the wild mood swings of menopause (not everybody get them, I know). But like PMS you have to approach your emotions intellectually, realizing where some of them may be coming from.
I have absolutely no sympathy for a person who spreads lies about death panels and consorting with terrorist, and encouraging, however tacitly, death threats against a political opponent –
but if she has been going through early menopause and trying to run for VP and learning how to be Gov, and dealing with an special needs baby and a pregnant amoral daughter all at the same time, it easy to see how she could be so wacko, especially since she seems pretty well programed that way to start with.
But we do have a choice to grow old with as much dignity as we can or to grow old uglyly. And we know which choice Sarah as made so far.
Isn’t it amazing (and embarrassing) that world leaders celebrate for Obama and here in the good ol’ USA the GOP trash talks the President and questions the honor given to him. I am just shaking my head.
Something has gone terribly wrong in this country, and I think we all know what it is…..G…O….P.
President Obama could solve all of our problems and the world’s problems, and the GOP would still criticize him about like, Gee, he doesn’t like mustard—how unAmerican. He must be some kind of nazi, Muslim, Communist, Marxist, Socialist. They are crazy.
I find it funny that those Palin photos are gone. I looked at them this morning and some were really dorky and unattractive. I was wondering how long it would take for terror-Palin to demand they come down.
I hope some people got screen shots.
Darn sorry to have missed them. Quitty may be a little sensitive to bad photos of herself after the booger photo. I know I would be.
Oh, happy day! Great comments, loved reading them, and I was told the pictures did not exist when I clicked the link, not that I care that much.
I’m just so thrilled for our president and our country for this Nobel honor. Thrilled, I tells ya’, thrilled…searching for a tissue…
Just to throw in another topic.
Democratic Underground and Huff Po have articles
“Some black players won’t play for Rush Limbaugh if he buys Rams.”
Gee, are we surprised?
I looked at the photos as well this morning, but it never occurred to me to save them.
Someone must have demanded that he take them down. When I looked there were six comments about the photos, presumably from other photographers. They were discussing the lighting and which photograph that they liked best.
This would be a big deal for a photographer, taking pics of Palin would ensure they got their name out. I cannot see why he would willingly take the pics off his blog.
An interesting look at Sarah’s book and its handlers…
From a poster on IM:
“The Nobel Peace Prize is an award presented to either an individual or an organization in accordance with Alfred Nobel’s living will. Alfred Nobel, creator of the five Nobel Prizes, was a Swedish inventor and industrialist. He disposed the Nobel Peace Prize in his will to be awarded to “the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.” The Nobel Peace Prize differs from the Nobel Prizes in literature, physics, chemistry, and medicine or physiology in that it may be presented not only to individuals, but also to organizations that are actively engaged in a process or effort that intends to promote world peace. The prize can be awarded for current efforts, rather than for having accomplished a goal or resolved an issue.”
Everyone needs to read and understand the spirit in which this award was given. Pass it on.
From MSNBC:
Obama’s election and foreign policy moves caused a dramatic improvement in the image of the U.S. around the world. A 25-nation poll of 27,000 people released in July by the Pew Global Attitudes Project found double-digit boosts to the percentage of people viewing the U.S. favorably in countries around the world. That indicator had plunged across the world under President George W. Bush.
Let me rephrase this in a printable way. Levi plans to show his pistachios in Playgirl:
http://www.limelife.com/blog-entry/Levi-Johnston-to-Appear-in-Playgirl/22407.html
It’s a fight for the limelight, with Levi nosing ahead of Sarah.
Asking for help campaigning from typhoid sary would be like asking for an anvil whilst drowning.
For 8 years the US has been a baby crying on its back in its crib, periodically vomiting on those who came near. With Obama we have regained adult status in the world. Basic respect for our world partners and a desire to work together to make a better world for ALL its inhabitants is what comes through when Obama engages others at the national level. We can dismiss the domestic naysayers who because of politics want Obama to fail so their party can once again pillage the world. The relief and hope for the future of the world is clear in this award. With him or not- he has already made an incalculable difference in the hope and aspirations for the US and the world.
Am glad for President Obama. Why do reporters have to start immediately speculating on everything, and naysaying this great news, before he even accepts the honor and prize?
IMO, PO has shown his peaceful nature in how he copes, and how he reacts to things. He keeps a very cool head, gives the world and questionable leaders the benefit of the doubt. He knows when to say little, and when to speak out.
#134 : The question is, once Levi whips out his Johnston, will his credibility be enhanced, or shrink?
I agree that in their quest for publicity and money, without regard to dignity, Sarah and Levi really are two peas in a pod. They should combine their acts.
Well… it looks like the World Community values our American ideas and values more highly than the RepugNuts.
The GOP RepugNuts response to this Award have escaped the criticism of Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert until Monday ,BUT… I am sure that Bill Maher has just added some material for his Show tonight.
Also about Letterman :He has a regular segment on his Show now
called ” Things I would rather be doing instead of reading Sarah Palin’s new book”. They show a clip of people doing very stupid or painful things.
Just like he did with all those Bush clips about ” Famous Moments in Presidential History ”
I’m sure there are many more of these to come down the road. Nov. 17th won’t come soon enough for SP.
Also Jimmy Kimmel is using SP in his jokes as well. SP = Joke these days.
He told some joke about these high odds 45,000 to 1. Then explained in the joke that things have now changed ( gone up ) and the odds are now about 100,000 to 1.
Punch line: The chance of you winning with those odds is about as likely as Sarah Palin winning the Presidency in 2012 .
Wait till the Comedians get hold of her book. Her name will be EVERYWHERE!
I agree except Quitty is in her 40′s & Levi’s just a kid. I must say, I’m beginning to question if Levi is getting good advice. Seems like Tank & Rex are wanting a pretty good size piece of the pie.
The news regarding Obama is starting to really annoy me. MSM is like having Eeyore around all the time. They are like a little black cloud everywhere you go…don’t be happy….don’t feel good….don’t be proud of your president. I hate MSM they are such a downer. Love their choice of people to interview regarding the award. Think I’ll watch the President’s Cup & feel good about the Prez. If they can’t be better Americans than …. them.
My take on the Levi issue is simple. It is my understanding that the photo will be from behind. Reaction? I bust out in giggles every time I think about it. My grandson Aaron is the same age and I’m afraid I would be reminded of changing diapers every time I saw such a picture. Now if it was Sean Connery……………
Levi has a lot of good will. He’s a good looking kid and is just cashing in on what he has while he has the chance. He can make some money and plan some sort of future the Palins can’t mess with. As Kinky Friedman used to say … when the Lord closes a door, he opens a little window. I expect he’s having a lot of fun and Sarah isn’t. Bristol chose mommy. Too bad!
Gramian; if it was Sean Connery, I expect all you’d see is prunes.
Phoebe #140 True, there is a substantial difference in chronological age, but in emotional maturity Sarah is about 15 and Levi is 19, so they are pretty close in age. What’s the age of consent in AK?
BuffGal: You and I are two peas in a pod today!
Yesterday, I had this searing, bleeding out the eyeballs pain just under my chin. It was so bad, I almost cried out of frustration and just had to walk around the house quietly to get a grip on the pain. It was horrific. Felt like a badly pulled muscle, but spasming.
Even considered going to emergency. It was an ebb and flow kind of thing… 5 minutes of relative comfort followed by 20 minutes of intense pain. Just awful.
Popped a bunch of tylenol like every 1/2 hour and got some relief. Took a tylenol PM and got a good night’s rest.
Today, the pain has moved from below my chin to a lower tooth. My chin is practically pain free and now my tooth is troubling me.
This is similar to what I had back in March. I ended up with anti-biotics and then had a broken tooth (way in the back, not noticeable at all) removed because it couldn’t be saved. There was a huge pocket of infection there. Relief was almost immediate, though, and I don’t regret the extraction for a minute.
I’m terrified that I’ll have to go through that kind of pain again (I waited as long as possible to see a dentist, trying home remedies, etc.).
Please! Find a way to see a dentist ASAP!
I think ER’s have to treat you regardless of insurance, so you might try that as well. I’m thinking of that route and dealing with money later. Not even naughty girls should have to experience the kind of pain I had yesterday and that I feel returning today (although the locale is a bit different).
Best as you muddle through this. I hope it’s not as bad as mine.
On a lighter note: Do we have the coolest President EVER, or WHAT? He’s definitely cooler than even JFK! Many happy thoughts on a well deserved award and humble speech following the news.
What a class act!
And I’m VERY proud to be a voting American today!!!
Reported at http://www.clickondetroit.com:
President Obama intends to give the $1.4M Nobel Peace Prize Award to charity.
How awesome is THAT?
SP would put it towards her Nordstrom’s charge account!
lol…afraid so
@daisydem
Great post.
Thanks
Is it getting close to the time supporters are going to the court house to show support for the survivors of rape?
I hope a lot of them show up.
Gag reflex…MSNBC reports Rush Limbaugh will be a judge for the 2010 “Miss America” contest.
YUCK!
#133 Paula:
From MSNBC:
Obama’s election and foreign policy moves caused a dramatic improvement in the image of the U.S. around the world…….. double-digit boosts to the percentage of people viewing the U.S. favorably in countries around the world. That indicator had plunged across the world under President George W. Bush.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
For me, one of the most frustrating things about the Bush presidency (and there were MANY!) was the change in how the world saw the US during those years. After 9/11, 90% of the world was united with us and felt a strong connection with Americans. In the next 7 1/2 years, Bush squandered that support and managed to turn even our allies against us.
How exciting to have our new President make such a dramatic turnaround in the world’s perception of us in the short time he’s been in office. How exciting to think of how much he can accomplish in the next 3 (or 7) years!
I hope all of the small loose objects are removed from within Sarahs reach today because she is not having a good weekend. They may have to tie her down to a chair… Again. { Would love to be a fly on the wall in THAT room}
Her personal ‘ perceived ‘ Arch-Enemy Rivals are receiving Awards today.
President Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize.
Katie Couric receives Award for ” Excellence in Media ”
{ And who could forget Tina Fey’s Award as well }

I’m guessing Todd grabs a beer and retires to the garage this weekend.
Can’t wait for Bill Maher tonight.
samper, I’m sorry for this:

Here’s hoping this is the end of the bad news for Detroit.
that is their ONLY function…drooling over attractive, conservative women.
ie: Pat Buchanan, Chris Matthews, John McCain, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly…even Glenn Beck, Donald Trump, and every Repub member of Congress caught with their infidelity pants down! …it’s a definite theme to that side. sure, the argument would be that men in general (even Dems), but COME ON…doesn’t anybody else see this consistency on the Repub side??? …the Bible-thumping, religious preaching, hypocritical side?!?!!!
oops…forgot the one that got me started on the rant…RUSH LIMBAUGH!!!!
magnificent.
wow, am I ever behind in these threads!
I love the pic AKM!
It makes me feel better that the repubs are unraveling, thank goodness. They are now infighting amongst themselves, as it should be. I apologize if this has been posted already, I am way behind reading.
The moral Repubs are standing up to the crazies with the crazy hate agenda, it’s about time.

Congratulations Mr. President……and America!!
The Audacity of Hope……
Palin’s got another book coming out. Good thing they are upping the publication date as her star is rapidly falling.
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2009/10/09/another_palin_book.html
Penquin Books announced that it is moving up the publication date of The Persecution of Sarah Palin by Matthew Continetti from next February to November 12, 2009 to coincide with the publication of Palin’s controversial memoir.
The book is subtitled: How the Elite Media Tried to Bring Down a Rising Star.
Hey all!, found a google cache of the Palin photo’s

Ok, based on the pictures from the link UK Lady posted, I don’t think Palin has gone under the scalpel…at least not for those pictures. The crepy skin is still under the eyes, the nasal labial folds are still deep, and she has that little tell tale crease in her chin you get after a certain age. Her skin tone does look good…must come from a diet high in fish oils. Looking at the photo of her in the orange shirt…those look suspiciously like some c-cup implants. I seem to recall her being rather flat chested? Sorry – I’m being shallow
Where did she get those thighs?
nswfmCA: Thanks for the sympathies. Yes, Detroit needs an end to bad news! First, a bad call may have cost us the World Series and now we have a broken Wing. If there’s one thing we do well, it’s celebrate sports success. And we NEED something to celebrate. A broken Wing just puts us further behind in the party planning.
A jump start (lookie there! a PUN!) to the auto industry would cheer us up immensely as well. We need to BUILD something. It’s what we DO here! We’re a patient and sturdy lot, but we’ve been waiting a long time for turnaround. I guess we’ll wait just a bit longer.
The formal portrait of SP is terrible! The others just look stupid. Her teeth and boobs seem different, but I’m not doing a side-by-side comparison, so I could be wrong.
Can’t believe that Limbaugh is supposed to judge a beauty contest! Then again, isn’t he all for the objectification of women?
He had some pretty inflammatory monologue today… he’s siding with the Taliban that our President “doesn’t deserve” the NPP. Who is HE to say? Since when does HE sit on the committee? And, has he even read the (for lack of better term) “mission statement” of the prize? It is not only for accomplishment, but for a vision and action towards the vision. Rachel is citing many other recipients who hadn’t yet achieved, but had the wheels in motion to accomplish something for the greater good of the world.
NO… he should NOT turn it down!!!
Finally, can’t believe that you are ALL neglecting the REAL importance of this day… BO THE PUPPY turned ONE YEAR OLD today!!! Happy Birthday to BO!
http://action.foodandwaterwatch.org/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=27967 is the link for telling Secretary Vilsack to get on the ball re hamburger/e. Coli inspections. The top 10 foods for contamination did not include the #1, hamburger, or the #2, eggs, on the list the FDA released this week, because animal products are under the watch of USDA, not the FDA. No excuse.
Happy Friday, congratulations to our President, and health and peace to all.
I’m looking at the keatley site, and I don’t see any plastic surgery, just some caps on her teef. The portrait of her is bad, her nose looks huge and she looks like she aged a bunch in the last year.
My condolences to all the mudpuppies in OK.

AKM and Alaskans. I posted this on the other thread.
The Newspaper, the ADN , did not even cover the Nobel Peace Prize story.
There is no story on the Politics Page. I would call the Newspaper and ask them WHY?

I don’t think the Sheriff ( Phx, AZ) is looking into, nothing. If you have been following Sheriff Arpaio who would know he doesn’t have a heart but have pink cuffs.
“This is a complete disgrace and gross act towards our president,” said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, “My deputies are looking into all avenues of the incident, and it is a top priority.”

Is it any wonder The Taliban, in the US and abroad, have denounced Obama’s prize.The Taliban in Afghanistan want us out and of course the fascist US Taliban, the republican party as it now stands would denounce it for anyone not one of their own. LOL. The very religious right that think only they are right are destroying the once proud GOP. It is no longer the GOP. I really don’t know what name you could give these people that want war at any cost and violence at any cost.IMO the moderates don’t know where to turn. JMO
Thanks to the people who put up the definition of why the award was given .it sure helped me.I saved it to word pad so I could use it when the naysayers started as I knew they would. One other comment was would palin give the money earned from her book to0 charity? I don’t think so. Do governors get pensions for life even when they quit before their terms are up.I hope Alaska fights that one.
