Open Thread – Nowhere Ma’am

I do not know how I missed this. The fact that it has had less than 600 views is a crime! It was put up on YouTube last year at this time. Hilarious!

That one was also hilarious! There are some might clever people out there. Can’t wait for the next goodies from flyinureye and lynnrockets.

Several of the places to find pet antiobiotics in the southeast are Tractor Supply, Southern States, and Rural King. Along with antibiotics, we can get all the immunizations for cats and dogs, with the exception of the rabies shots. You can even get intravenous fluids at some of them. One of my Chihuahuas was puny and sickly from birth and has respiratory problems. The vet recommended that I use my human nebulizer with albuterol (at a distance of about 1 foot from his face) when he is in distress.

I suppose they could stand up for our nation, together – each with their own views and voice. Very democratic.

    Yeah.. I like that.

It’s a wet cold day here. I’ve been out skipping around reading many comments this morning
These are two that made me laugh

Poor Rush! He won’t just go quietly into the night.

Courtesy of Gryphen’s website, here is Rush’s latest statement, blaming us *libruls*: Just another scare tactic from another nut.

According to an account by ESPN, Limbaugh said on air Wednesday: “This is not about the NFL. It’s not about the St. Louis Rams. It’s not about me. This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democratic party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative. Therefore, this is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we’re going to have.”

Somebody has reviewed a Book ( in their own mind I guess? ) that they have never seen and is not even out yet but they know what is IN it…? Remarkable!
I guess you need a VIVID imagination to do THAT.
SNL’s Seth and Amy would say ” Ohh REALLY? ”

“Flawless, lucid, flowing language pours from each page in the Governor’s stunning rags-to-riches account of her remarkable life. As a prose stylist, clearly she has few peers.”

” Flawless, lucid, flowing language “….Hmm?
Obviously this Mr. Larson never saw the Quitter speech by the Lake.
The Jokes write themself…. just like Michael Steele of yesterday. Too funny.

    Ryan H. Says:

    @ Ziggy

Did you see the disclaimer at the bottom?

Charles R. Larson is Professor of Literature at American University, in Washington, D.C.

Disclaimer: The review was written before he read the book.

    This was my favorite part:
What a pleasure to read a writer who can quote Nietzsche, Foucault, Derrida, and Reinhold Niebuhr with such ease and apply their wisdom to her own life. I suspect that this book will soon be taught in American schools alongside the works of Benjamin Franklin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Henry David Thoreau, other classic accounts of what it means to be an American.

    Bye Kiddies

  19. 69
    GreatGranny2B Says:

RE: Going Rogue review – It is possible that Mr. Larson was one of those who acquired an advance copy and has actually read it, were it not for his disclaimer at the end of the article.

Referencing this statement of his: “As a prose stylist, clearly she has few peers. William Safire immediately comes to mind but also Carlyle and Addison and Steele. ” – well, the style ought to be fairly decent, given that Lynn Vincent was her ghostwriter, so the praise should be going to Ms. Vincent, no Ms. Palin. Even though Ms. Vincent may be a good writer, I think it is a bit of a stretch to place her in the same category with Safire, Carlyle, Addison, and Steele.

Another of his comments: “More startling— is the speed with which Governor Palin wrote her autobiography, which can only be the product of the well-organized mind of a genuinely talented writer. ” Good grief, Mr. Lawson must not have EVER heard or read any of her earlier speeches that she actually wrote. He’s another who can’t seem to understand she should be referred to as ex-Governor or former governor. Not having completed her term of office due to her own choice of quitting, does not entitle her to use the term, such as Governor Howard Dean is entitled to.

I certainly have to chuckle at her having a “well-organized mind” – spare me! As to the speed with which she completed it, one shouldn’t be surprised if all she had to do was rattle off her random and scatter-brained thoughts for Lynn Vincent to pull together. She also undoubtedly started on the book well before her resignation. Wasn’t there some question about her not being able to be involved in publishing a book and still hold her governorship?

As to the publication date being pushed up – Murdoch probably thought he had a cash-cow and political-puppet when he first signed her up, then discovered she isn’t quite up to snuff and wanted to cash in on what few sales could be made before all the other books about her came out, and before further troubles fall on her head.

“raised in the outbacks of Alaska”……… When I hear “outback”, I think of Australia, or at least the Delta region of Alaska. Can the area around Anchorage and Wasilla truly be called the outback?

I nearly spit out my coffee as I read this line about her “university years”: “At each university, I sought out the finest minds, the most demanding professors in order to probe their intellects for decoding the major philosophical questions that mankind has been concerned with since time immemorial.”
Those words did NOT come out of Palin’s mouth! Also, she went to two COLLEGES and two universities – not to demean colleges, but there is a bit of a difference, isn’t there?

“Once she had taken courses from the most distinguished professors at an institution, then she moved on to another university where the process would begin all over again.”
Who’s leg does she think she’s pulling with this?

On hunting: “How can one not be thrilled by scoping with one’s rifle bear, caribou, crocodiles?” she asks.
CROCODILES IN ALASKA? What happened to all the moose (meese) and wolves that she shoots?

What poll was she looking at when she referred to this?
“Governor Palin is fully cognizant of Americans’ desire that she be the next President of the United States.”

I would love to hear how current residents of Alaska respond to this gem: “Governor Palin writes that her decision not to serve her full term as the governor of Alaska was prompted by her realization that she had already accomplished all that was needed for the state. There was nothing left for her to do.”

OMG! “More startlingly, she states that if elected President of the United States, she will probably not serve the full eight years. “If I can do for my country as a whole what I did for Alaska in less than a full term, why would I want to stay in the position for such a lengthy time? To stay longer would be a waste of my talents. I’ll move on to something more challenging—the United Nations, for example, or even the Supreme Court—places where I have long realized I can contribute even more.”

OKAY FOLKS – READY??? You really MUST read this.
    http://www.counterpunch.org/larson03202009.html

Charles Larson is behind one of the numerous movements to impeach President Obama. Here is one of the statements from that insane article:

Obama’s appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” an utterly frivolous event, so insignificant that not one American even watched the show, resulting in the network’s poorest ratings in more than a decade. So outraged was Arizona’s Senator Jon Kyl (R) when he learned about the scheduled broadcast that he ordered the President to cancel his appearance and address the AIG controversy instead.

I beg to differ – there were millions of Americans who watched the show and ratings went through the roof. And who is JUNIOR Senator Kyl to ORDER the POTUS to do anything.

Bottom line – Larson is a retired Navy Admiral and if I didn’t know better I’d think he was writing satire.

Yup Ryan – you got us going, but in a humorous way!
I personally take it as a compliment to be called a Pollyanna.
Pollyanna Principle – bias towards the positive.
Yup again, that’s me, I’d rather think positive and find something good in each minute of the day.

    GreatGranny2B Says:

Okay Ryan – You got me! I initially thought it was satire, then I looked at titles and reviews from his other writings and they were serious pieces. In reading his bio, it stated he was a Democrat and I was trying to reconcile his pro-Palin/anti-Obama stance in my mind. All the other smarties on this forum caught on quicker than I, whilst I was off reading and writing and not paying attention to new posts! However, it surely helped me to pass a long and dreary afternoon with the rain beating on the windows. Only problem is I got so wrapped up in this issue that I forgot the brownies in the oven and they are good for nothing but chicken feed now. lol

    terpsichore Says:

Gramiam@67, I followed the link and read the linked article from CNN.

This gem is about 2/3 of the way down.

“”She will be coming here to campaign sometime after the first of the year once she is done with her book tour,” said Perry spokesman Mark Miner.

Palin’s spokesman Meg Stapleton did not respond to inquiries seeking to confirm the visit.”

Excellent! This means there is every chance she won’t show up!

I wonder if her ‘agent’ will negotiate a price for her services to the Texas Gov.? I wonder if her contract rider will specify lodging only at five-star hotels? Only red and blue M&Ms in the candy bowl in the Green Rooms? A mini-fridge stocked with diet Dr. Pepper and champaign? Wonder if she’ll unbag and don some of the RNC campaign clothing from last year?

I can hardly wait … oh, yeah, I really can. After all, we gotta get ourselves through her book release next month and this apparent ‘tour’ first. I really hope she is not scheduled to be anywhere near Miami, but then, I can’t imagine the people here in So. Fla. being particularly interested in her book. (Actually, I can’t imagine ANYONE being interested in her book).

    We may be spared.

Now that the red has receded from my face, I tender my sincere apologies for allowing myself to be punked and then going on a rant!

Born in a bungalow down in Idaho
Land of bigots and the low potato(e)
Raised in the woods so’d she know’d ev’ry tree
Moved to Alaska when she was only three,
Sar…ah… Sarah Palin, Queen of the Wild Frontier.

She went off to Juneau and served a spell
Cookin’ up the books and her house as well (wink, wink…)
Took over Anchorage, so I heard tell
And she raised her perdiem so’d she live quite well
Sar…ah… Sarah Palin, seeing Russia clear

#73 GreatGranny2B, Yep since it’s in Colorado I’m following it. I hope it’s a hoax instead of the other possibility. The parents saw the videos as the media got involved & didn’t mention that part of the balloon, like the basket, was missing? It’s all very strange, the parents are storm chasers and have also appeared on some reality show, swap my wife or some such foolishness. Like I said, I hope it was a hoax for attention or that the little boy is hiding…They’re now searching a mile swath downwind from the house where the balloon initially took off.

the bill is gonna be steep for the parents. helicopter, ambulances, cops…

the best case scenario is the kid is hiding somewhere……….cause if there really was a basket that came off or he fell out — well, that would be incredibly sad.

Mudpups………before anyone ever orders a free trial of something for just the shipping cost or $3.95 or whatever, do it this way so you don’t get scammed and so you save yourself a lot of aggravation. Always be careful ordering these type offers. They all do the same thing.

Our daughter learned the hard way, sigh. It happens.

    http://www.complaintsboard.com/news-stories/credit-card-companies-hiking-rates-before-2010-changes.html

Credit Card Companies Hiking Rates Before 2010 Changes

“Consumers who have a credit card outside of Discover and Bank of America are encouraged to stay on top of their monthly statements and continue to analyze them for any changes that are being made. Budgeting for a higher credit card payment may be a good idea even if an increase does not go into effect in order to pay the card off faster. Even consumers who have an excellent credit and payment history with a card company may be subjected to rate hikes, penalties, and doubled monthly minimum payments.”

  32. 82
    justafarmer Says:

    SayNo @81:
Discover & BoA did freeze rates on my accounts. BoA also lowered the minimum payment.

Chase, OTOH, more than doubled my interest rate for no other reason than because they could, so I called to “opt out”, thus keeping my 8% interest rate and closing the account. Way to run a business and keep customers. Idiots.

JustaFarmer, If I had ANY charges with Chase I’d be transferring them to Discover or Bank of American, lickity split.

GG2b, I made an incubator box for our wee 3 week old pups out of a clear plastic storage container, oxygen in one hole, with an air hole out the other side, we’d lift the lid to stick the nebulizer with albuterol in there. That was a 24/7 week I could have done without, the hubby and I took turns staying up all night, but we saved 5 out of 6 pups. I can’t remember if we got the albuterol from the vet or vet supply store. We went through a ridiculous number of oxygen tanks and expense. But we learned a lot.

I’m off to make homemade chicken and noodles, it’s perfect for a cold wet dreary gray day, brrrr, we’re on our 7th day in a row of 20* colder than normal temps, dang, it’s supposed to be 70* not 50*. I’m desperate for sunshine too. agh.
