Palin Pourri – Destruction of the Publishing Industry, Todd’s Fortress of Solitude, Gettin’ Hucked and More!

Going Rogue!  Now for the Low Low Price of…

$8.99 and free shipping from Walmart?  I think I have found my source for Palin’s memoir.  Yes, I’m buying it and I’m going to read it all, so you don’t have to.  I shouldn’t be so quick to say I’ll buy it.  By the time November 17 rolls around, they may be actually paying people to read it.

In a battle to the death to see who can drop the price low enough to reflect the book’s actual value, Walmart and Amazon are in a price war.  Yes, Sarah Palin can now add the entire publishing industry to the list of things she has completely messed up.

Critics of this business practice argue that by making best-selling books available for so little, it detracts buyers from paying the $24 for a lesser known new book. When books start to become available for under $10, people have a hard time forking over cash for books that are over $10. It is also making it more difficult for independent booksellers to compete.

Goin’ Milwaukee

We’re less than a month away from the day that her memoir ”Going Rogue” hits the shelves.  I fear the worst; a giant media frenzy that will mean all Palin, all the time.  Kind of like last fall, come to think of it.

In the meantime, what’s an ex-governor to do with the down time in between “writing” the book, and its worldwide release?  She’s got to be flooded with requests from every corner of the nation.  She has apparently whittled down the choices and made a couple decisions.  That’s right, get your tickets now.  First stop, Wisconsin Right to Life.

Officials say no tickets will be sold at the door of the Nov. 6 event at Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park in West Allis, Wis.

General admission tickets are $30 with a limit of four per order.

If thirty bucks is a little too much to part with, how about her next scheduled appearance at…

Hard Work U?  Oh, the Irony…

Don’t think she’s a one-issue wonder, or that she can’t hold her own at institutes of higher learning.  On December 2nd, at the height of her book tour, she will be speaking at the prelude to the community convocation of…. (drumroll please)… the College of the Ozarks.  Yes, the ex-gov will be sharing her musings on patriotism, citizenship and civic engagement.

A local asks the question:  “Maybe Sarah Palin can teach the young folks at ‘Hard-Work-U’ the value of getting themselves in over their heads in a job they’re totally unqualified for and then quitting halfway before their job is finished in order to seek a more powerful job for which they are even more totally unqualified?”

If any of the young folks at Hard Work U are Mudflatters, I hope they will take good notes and their flip camera.  Tickets are free.

Meanwhile, Back at the Castle…

What is it?  An undisclosed location next door?  Todd’s Fortress of Solitude?  A giant walk-in closet?  I think we can officially call  the Palin’s residence a compound.  They are busy constructing a new building next door to their home on Wasilla’s Lake Lucille.  Check out all the details HERE.

Ex-Governor for Hire

Know anyone looking for seasonal help?  Sarah Palin has posted her resume on line!  No, not on Twitter, although I bet she could make it fit, and not on her more than 140 characters venue Facebook.  She’s got it up on LinkedIn, the social networking site for professionals on the move.  For the sake of brevity, she’s trimmed off all those colleges that came before the one she graduated from.  Why is she there?

She’s Hucked.

The latest from Rasmussen doesn’t look good for Palin.

Republican voters were asked about the same three candidates in July and the Huckabee finished a close third at 22%, with Romney (25%) and Palin (24%) in a virtual tie.

Rasmussen Reports notes: “It’s noteworthy that Huckabee’s gains since July are matched almost precisely by Palin’s decline.”

Both Romney and Huckabee easily topped Palin in head-to-head comparisons.

The Last Laugh

Remember that hilarious bumper sticker I posted the other day?  I’ve been seeing it pop up all over the tubes since then.  And not surprisingly, it turns out that some people out there don’t get the joke.  I’m guessing it’s probably the same people who don’t realize that The Colbert Report is something called “satire.”  Jef Beatty of Madison, Wisconsin is the humorist behind the sticker.

But some who buy his bumperstickers don’t quite get it. He says he was selling the stickers at a Madison art fair and, of the $12 worth he sold, “About 1/3 … told me I was crazy or got angry; another 1/3 laughed and the last third gave me thumbs up. One person who bought one was clearly unhappy when I disparaged Michele to someone near him.”

And what does he plan to do with the profits?

“I’ll save up my $1 apiece to fund my move to Canada if they actually make the ticket.”

A man after my own heart.  And he’s in Wisconsin!  Maybe he ought to set up a booth outside Palin’s event there on November 7th.  Maybe nobody will notice!

I’ve been wondering why Walmart is selling her book so cheap? Do they sell other first time out books so cheaply to create the interest or make it look like a fake top of the list best seller? My connect the dots theory is this – would Murdock make a deal behind the scenes with Walmart to sell the book so cheaply so that (a) looks like it actually is a best seller when if it was sold for the $24. price then it would be a failure (b) the more books that get into people’s hands, he hopes that would raise her popularity (c) there hasn’t been enough pre sales so Walmart will have too many books on their floor. I find it strange that there would be a price war between Walmart and Amazon – does this kind of thing happen often?

Sarah’s speech to college students and real Americans:

I’m so happy to be here with you today so I can tell you that I am YOU.

I’m just a hockey mom representing Main Street USA…..except I don’t live on Main Street, I live in a turret…..on my compound….on a lake….where I can see Russia. Where I can look down on all the little people who give me money so I don’t have to work and can live the life of luxury. God Bless you all.

Also too, I have millions…just like all you real American’s livin’ on Main Street. Oh wait….what’s that? The average American isn’t worth millions, they don’t have a plane, they don’t have several houses on a lake? They can’t just quit their jobs, and then beg the public to pay their legal bills?

    Hmmmm, shame.

In any case……. I know what it’s like to work hard. When I quit my job as governor, that was hard work. Moving all my designer clothes and moose knick-knacks outta that house wasn’t easy.
I also worked hard on my education. I worked so hard, I had to go to 5 colleges and it took many, many years, but I finally convinced some college professors to give me passing grades so I could get my degree. Whew…all that “winking” and “convincing” WAS hard work.

So, I’m hear to tell you today that I represent YOU and all you real American’s. Well, O.K., I represent a small minority who are worth millions, and the few who have been able to utilize their mean-spirit and good looks to progress them forward into a life paid for by others. But, that aside…..

There for too….America is great! I say we stand up for our Nation….and me! Give generously and God Bless.

    You made my day. Hilarious.

One thing I noticed when looking at all those close ups of her photo. Did they enhance her cleavage for her book cover? The real book, not the photoshopped ones.

Look how high it is…errr….. “shadowed”. Her chest is not that big that she would have cleavage that high on her chest. It’s showing above the zipper on her jacket. It’s unaturally high. I hadn’t seen a close up version before this, but it looks like they were trying to pump up her sex appeal….for Jesus, I’m sure. Take a look and see what you think.

Wow. Quite an “expansion of the mansion” you might say? Built with $$ from the Hong Kong visit? It sounds like her prices are sinking fast everywhere. It reminds me of a line from that Bette Midler/Danny DeVito movie (I believe it was “Ruthless People?” Unrelated circumstances of course, but the line is still funny) where Bette is held for ransom and her husband DeVito who doesn’t want her back won’t pay the asking price, and so the kidnappers lower the price. She says “I’m being marked down by K Mart!!??

    rebekkah Says:

Wonder if all her legal bills are paid off? I suppose now that is not open for public record. But you’d think that she or her lawyer would reassure donors that the fees have finally been paid, put to rest. She could at least make a public statement to thank all her precious donors, and provide details, a receipt?

Shouldn’t there be time deadlines about sending donations for a specific reason with Trust Funds? After all, it could be 10 years later, and people would still think this average hockey mom from Wasilla might still owe thousands because of bogus ethics complaints about her.

Meantime, she could be sitting on a beach on her own island in the Pacific, and grandma would be thinking she was doing poor persecuted Sarah a service, by eating a can of cat food until the next pension check arrives.

“Keep sending those dollars, folks, even if it’s $5″, says the schuster.

I know these schusters know there is a God. It says, “Even the demons tremble” when they hear his name.

Some of the commenters on the other site are in favor of the new house because it will provide for privacy of world leaders who want to visit SP. They can fly in, hide in the hangar, and stay upstairs with no one seeing them.

I’m wondering if the turret will have gun slits. That would be handy for a lakeward invasion.

    Upper West Sider Says:

AKM has the right idea. If nothing else, we can preserve the irony among ourselves. Henceforth, all references to the book, Facebook entries, paid speeches, etc. that suggest that SP had anything to do with their composition must be in quotes. Wrote, penned, authored, author, writer, written, autobiographer, autobiography, etc. are just some of the words that must be in quotes. Even the lowly “by” is included. No longer will it be Going Rouge by Sarah Palin. Instead it will be Going Rouge “by” Sarah Palin.

Molly: There aren’t many, but some admirers call SP’s house the “Northern White House.” No one is complaining about the money being spent. And these are the same people who made donations to SarahPAc whenever they felt the need for retaliation. It’s sort of like the blind men and the elephant.

tamara, maybe they can fly in on Prince’s International Lover? Don’t ask my why this song came to mind when you mentioned the bear skin rug:-) But it’s cheesy and involves flying, so maybe this will be her siren song to the dignitaries:

    “Darlin’, it appears 2 me
That U could use a date tonight
    A body that’ll do U right
Tell me – Am I qualified?
    [I say?] Baby, I know it’s hard 2 believe
But this body here is free tonight
Your very own first class flight
My plane’s parked right outside, baby
    Don’t U wanna go 4 a ride? (yeah)

I’m an international lover, yeah that’s right
Let me take U ’round the world
I’ll buy U diamonds and pearls
    Only if you’re good girl

Darlin’, I know it’s been a long time
    Since you’ve been satisfied
I can tell by the look in your eyes
U need it real bad (real bad), U need it so bad, so bad (real bad)
Baby, maybe if you’re good girl
    I’ll introduce U 2 my ride
    Don’t U wanna come inside?
    C’mon baby, I won’t fly 2 fast, I’ve got so-
    (C’mon baby, I won’t fly 2 fast, I’ve got so much class)”

I’d love to see what the song mistress can do with this one!

Very disappointing that Oprah will promote the greatest proponent of anti-Obama racist hate speech outside of Rush, Glenn Beck and Hannity.

  25. 75
    trisha Says:

I’m not sure Oprah is all that well informed about Palin. After the election, she was speaking as if Palin was a victim of the GOP. She said, “I wonder if she asked herself why she would allow herself to be used that way”.

    Say what?

I was furious. She didn’t understand Palin at all. The GOP didn’t use Palin, Palin used the GOP. Oprah seemed to miss that part that Palin was trying to get into the national spotlight for years and she jumped at the opportunity. She used McCain, more than McCain used her.

If Oprah is soft on her, I will NEVER watch her or buy her magazines again….ever!

I am a pilot and it is my understanding that he needs to have seaplane rating even without taking up a passenger. The only exception I can even imagine is if he is working on his seaplane rating then he can fly the plane by himself. But then again, he has to show evidence that he is getting instruction and is actively working on getting that rating. Without having an instructor, or if there its been a long period without having had instruction along with owning the plane, I would think it would clearly show he is in violation. If he has taken up a passenger, then without a doubt has seriously violated the regulations and would in most cases lose his license for at least some period. His plane only seats two so there is not room for a passenger and instructor.

    Donna in Wisconsin Says:

Hi, I live in West Allis and am trying to figure out whether or not I can attend. If so, I would love to be a “boot on the ground”. I have a small recording device that I would be willing to try and sneak in. I have not yeard heard how or when they are going to make these tickets available. I haven’t heard about any protests or gatherings that might be staged, but I expect to be contacted soon.

West Allis is a town that leans progressive. It is a town that is getting younger, better to balance out the ideological right. I was involved with the election last November and I believe West Allis supported Obama upwards of 60%. However, St. Fair Park is right across the street from Milwaukee which is HEAVILY democratic. I am shocked that she choose us for her first engagement.

When she was here last fall, in Cedarburg, 20-30 minutes North of Milwaukee. Cedarburg is redder than the reddest red state. There were not many groups in support of Obama, or against Palin, at the event because of the time and the fact that Cedarburg is tiny and the narrow streets were tied up very early. There was a small handful of us there anyhow.

It would be very hard to sit through anything she has to say for any length ot time. I am grateful, at least, that however bat-sh*t crazy she is, she is not a windbag.

    Cheers!
