Open Thread – Lost in Translation
25 10 2009Every once in a while something appears on the internet as if from another galaxy where they speak some sort of language that approximates English, but isn’t. It’s generally the work of some kind of automatic translator that strings together oddly literal, and yet completely off the mark versions of the original into a foreign language and back again.
I don’t know exactly why or how this happens, but I hate to look a humor gift horse in the mouth. In the past, I’ve found translations of my own posts, and translations of some of the comments that have left me in pain from laughing so hard.
This time, it’s someone writing about one of my posts from back in March. It has to do with Rep. Mike Doogan (D) who took it upon himself to utilize his state e-newsletter and legislative mailing list to out my identity. Why this one popped up now, I have no idea except that news may take a while to reach other galaxies.

Unbelievable narration here. Microphone Doogan an AK Province Representative, apparently with nil better to make, holds took to investigate not our governor but the individuality of a blogger he differs with. He things it she should n’t be able to state what she desires anonymously. So he outed her.
I make n’t concur with most of what is indited in the Mudflats but I make prise her passionateness and penning and right to privateness. Microphone Doogan makes not. He is a province representative not a dissatisfied adolescent.
What a also-ran. I desire his components vote him out of office.
Netmail him to allow him cognize how you experience.
I’ve read that about five times now and it still makes me laugh. And you know, I also desire Microphone Doogan’s components vote him out of office. So, if you or anyone you know wants to be a Spenard Province Representative, and not a dissatisfied adolescent, drop me a line!

#45 Enjay in E.MT., I always figured she didn’t answer the question because if she was honest she would have to say People Magazine, TV guide and the National Enquirer. Looked at some comments over at faux nation regarding
Newt vs simple sarah on the NY congressional endorsements. Looks like about 80-20 for winky. I have absolutely no respect for newt but I do think he has a brain. It’s as if the right wing has started a campaign against intelligent thought or something, I guess I shouldn’t complain, splitting a party that has been on a losing streak isn’t a winning strategy.

Speaking of dithering POTUS. Remember how decisive Duhbya was during the 2000-2002 recession?
How decisive he was on 9/11?
(He was very decisive about the presence of WMD, and biological weapons, and nuclear weapons.)
How decisive he was after the huge tsunami in the Indian Ocean?
How decisive he was before Katrina, during Katrina, after Katrina, and Rita?
(He was very decisive, however, about the levies overtopping and not breaching or vice versa.)
How decisive he was in 2008 – 2009 as the stock market crashed again for the second time in his administration?
( He was decisive about giving trillions of dollars to failed banks with no oversight as to how the money would be used.)
No ditherer there. He was the Decider Guy. He just decided to not decide.

Why is it when the public identifies something and comments on what it is, as in the case of sarah palin the right instantly perceives it to be some sort of conspiracy?
There are very few things I enjoy about the RepoTaliban, but for at least 20 years their PR machine has consistently accused their opposition of doing and being what they do and are themselves.
I think it is part of conservative think that everyone thinks and acts like I do so if I hate, lie, steal, then so do they. If I act like Hitler, so must they,. If I try to destroy freedom, and the Constitution so must they be trying to do the same thing.
It makes their logic in many cases very transparent. That’s the part I enjoy. That they can’t see that and stop behaving so badly is the part I can’t enjoy.

I don’t know if this will work….This is sort of an ‘ experiment ‘ because I have never used Flicker and am trying to figure out how you can add, post and create the viewing Sets to share.
AKM had a pic of her Blue Jay last week. I tried to get some shots of the Jay in my backyard as he poses. {Fingers crossed here. }

That Dunn piece is really amazing when he calls out those who use Facebook and Twitter for their attacks. Odd….it sounds like he is describing Sarah who only hides behind Facebook and Twitter for her attacks.
Geez, at least bloggers are honest enough to write their own material.

I’ve been waiting to hear what McCain says about Scarah’s going rogue on the Republican Party platform that he invited her onto. I was imagining his bad temper getting the best of him, lol. Do you think he expressed a few choice words in the privacy of his home? I do!
Has anyone seen or read his public reaction? Has Megan said anything? I missed the Sunday morning talk shows.
Also, too. Don’t forget Levi is on tomorrow a.m. AND Scarah’s 90 days after QUITTING 2009 disclosure forms are DUE, ding ding ding, times up. It should be an interesting day. I could be wrong but this form will show the 09 Arctic Cat info, how much she milked Alaskans for working at home, any family travel deductions and gifts received.
When do you think her Aug. 3, 09 Juneteenth bribery charge lawsuit will be dealt with? Anybody have a clue?
Also on the Curcic magazine/newspaper/book question, she didn’t dare be honest and say, all the Right Wing Extreme stuff Katie. Also too, the whacked out Dominionist church stuff, Dobson, Joyce Meyers, Dr. Laura, Rush and oh and all things NRA related and anything redneck, racist, I love the homophobic hate stuff too. I was sort of browsing through some Folders looking for the Sports Illustrated story because I thought it was saved somewhere… never found it.
I did find this link saved by myself and this story was posted 9-1-08. Within a day of two of being selected by McCain. It sort of goes with the J.R. Dunn story also of this morning when J.R. thought people were picking on ‘ Poor Sarah’.
The headline was …
” Todd Palin : Arrested for DUI ”
“Seriously, did John McCain and his staff investigate the background of Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin for 20 minutes?
Or do you think they took a whole half hour?”

The story pointed out some possible additional ‘ problems as well.
So…. Mr. Dunn…. many people were asking some ‘ questions ‘ even just 1DAY after ‘ Poor Sarah’ was selected. ( selected… NOT vetted )
This was well before those ” layabouts ” were able to organize into those groups and mobilize that campaign you speak of…. ( the ONE in Your Mind )
History shows us the Facts…. Opinions, not nearly so much.

Me too – it’s one of the increasingly rare occasions that I’ve agreed with him since early 2008.
I’ve noticed that the angle that George Will leans to the right on Sunday morning seems to be directly related to his choice of tie style for that day:
Regular tie = 45-53 degree slant
Bowtie = damn near horizontal

The “translation” is hilarious and I rather like the language. Lol! I tried to pick my favorite part, and decided the whole thing is worthy of being faved.
