Ah, craiglist in Alaska – always a good fun time!
AKM knows I am quite the craigslist addict..
While I’m here..
Just in case y’all had not seen this on the forums –
can I ask everyone to drop over and have a read of our new rules regarding financial assistance and donations
- these rules will apply here on the blog and in the blog comments area as well as on the forums and in the live chat area so it is important that you are aware of them.
Click here to see the new rules
Thanks everyone!

Don’t forget to vote for Mudflats – Best political blog & best photography blog 2009! Click on “blogger’s choice awards” in the righthand margin.
Thanks Lani! Be sure to click on the one that says “This blog has been nominated for…etc.” just to the right of this comment. Somehow both this blog and the old blog which is no longer active both got nominated. The old one is ahead, so I want to make sure this one gets the votes! Thanks all!
Some people should not be allowed to own guns…or a computer
Placed my votes for The Mudflats..Goodluck..
Only in Alaska.
At least he Subaru only back fires.
As for the weapon, if it’s traded for a car, then that’s one less weapon in the hands of an idiot. Just my opinion. Why would anyone need a weapon like that unless they expect to get an invitation to hunt wolves from airplanes?
Tried and tried and tried to vote for blogger’s choice awards….
Site does not want to know…is it beacause I am in Australia ?
If I had a 90′s Subaru I trade just to get the gun away from this nuthead.
In my morning email from TechRepublic was a section on 10 Free Programs From Microsoft. A couple of them are worth sharing.
For digital photo buffs, Microsoft mow offers free image editing software called paint.net – a project began by two students at Washington State who were subsequently hired by MS to continue development.
Google paint.net for more info.
Another one has my inner astronomy geek scowling at my satellite modem and the limited bandwidth that comes with it. From the Microsoft website …
Before your inner astronomy geek downloads WWT while you watch helplessly, investigate the system requirements just below the Install Windows Client – and bear in mind that this program requires downloading large amounts of data during use to create the scenes. I think a DSL or cable connection is a prerequisite to really enjoy the program.

Don’t forget that Snos also said “we would request that you do not post about it on the forums or in the blog comment area.
The best location for any discussion would be via private message or in the chat room.”
Having breakfast and reading the Juneau Empire online… this story correction made me smile:
“An A1 story in Sunday’s Juneau Empire about a climate change rally Saturday at the University of Alaska Southeast incorrectly suggested that 350 people participated in visually forming the number “350.” About 30 people and a dog participated. “
I’d love to have a Subaru Legacy. Good car. I still wish I had my 1988 Subaru Justy. I would if it hadn’t started down that path of needing some pricey repairs.
I was watching Rachel last night and she talked about the latest Tea Party Express tour. They are headed my way apparently, so I looked at the schedule. On their list it says they’ll be in Tacoma this Friday. However, when I looked for the actual location, they will be in Puyallup at the Fair. (I’m guessing they listed Tacoma because it has more name recognition. But they really aren’t the same city. Anyone driving around Tacoma won’t just stumble on them.)
They probably picked the Fair because it’s so large, but if they only had 150 in Bakersfield, CA, they might wish they’d picked some place where their numbers would be more impressive – like a city park. Guess they are in the Expo Hall, but nothing else is going on that day at the fair grounds. They might be a little lonely, but I guess they won’t have any trouble finding parking.
I sent them an email about the location – we’ll see what I get back.
I hadn’t seen the behind the scenes Vanity Fair video of Levi……quite cute how they discuss the Play Girl magazine. I have a feeling it’s going to be good, lol. Levi seems very comfortable with modeling and camera’s. Good for him.

Quite a few states are asking for citizen gun owners to, voluntarily, trade in their weapons. A sale like described above can be dangerous. Maybe the law officials need to be aware of this transaction.
Read the new rule Snos, it makes sense to have it in place, thank you.
Also, too……when voting for AKM’s blog, be sure to select the .net blog which is @ 70 votes, not the .com which is @ 12.
If I’m wrong about this, somebody please correct me, lol.
Zim, I don’t know if being in Australia makes a difference when voting, seems like it shouldn’t, but I do remember it was kinda funny getting around the web site and that some had a hard time registering at first.
Yes, make sure it’s “themudflats.net” not the old wordpress site. Thanks everyone!
AKM
Scarah has weighed in on facebook again, I can’t believe she’s doing this behind the scene and out of sight, lol, cracks me up. She’s so independent and rogue and chicken sh*t.
She’s begging for donations to a Republican Governor’s ‘Come Back’ fund, lol, is she trying to get herself out of hot water with the Republican Party? Is this her peace offering for endorsing Hoffman?
She says she’s writing her facebook entry while watching freshman girls basketball, I’m assuming Willow’s team. She reminds me of the parents who show up for their kids, but not really, obsessed with their own thoughts and issues, there but not there, lol.
Did she file her disclosure forms yesterday? She’s got a bad habit of being delinquent. She really should work on that.
“There are big political races on the East Coast that are coming down to the wire – the results of which will impact policies and political actions that touch all of us in every state. Like other independent Americans, I don’t always see eye-to-eye with Republican political committees, so when I tell you that the Republican Governors Association has my complete support and confidence in its campaign efforts back East, know that I really mean it.”
You know I own an AR-15. In response to the person that said you only need the gun to hunt wolves out of airplanes.
Do you know why I have it. It’s fun to shoot, its a low recoil gun. It’s fun to shoot. That is all, I don’t have to to protect myself, I don’t have it to shoot wolves. I’m not a hard core republican by any means. Just like some of you I’m sure enjoy snowshoeing or x country skiing. You don’t need to newest and best equipment do you.. no, but sometimes something exotic can be fun. It’s all about having fun.
We seem to have a cold north wind blowing today.
It reminded me of YBG. I hope she and the people of Eagle were able to batten down everything and they are snug and ready for Winter.
Maybe someone close to Her and the situation can give us an update if they have one.

Sarah Palin reported in financial disclosures out this morning that she received $1.25 million from publisher HarperCollins as “retainer for book.”
The report doesn’t give a date for when Palin received the money. But the disclosures cover money that Palin received during her final seven months as governor, from Jan. 1 to July 26.

“PARIS – A Paris court on Tuesday convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than half a million euros — but stopped short of banning the group as requested by prosecutors.”
Thanks BuffaloGal! …….headed there to check it out.
Just saw this posted at twitter:
*** from ResEuropa: picking up rumours that the Bushes are paving the way for Palin to launch a new political career in Texas. She could divide the GOP further ***
I’m going to drop a line to see if I can find out what they’re hearing. Their website is focused on Euro political news. Worth watching the radar for.
Say NO @18 – excellent news about the Scientology verdict. At least it’s forward movement.
Wow AKM, you’re so good, even your old, unused blog is nominated!
Good grief……. those whack jobs are holding an auction to raise funds for legal defense of the guy who shot and murdered the doc last summer. The things they are auctioning off are disgusting, hateful anti abortion items! It’s like they are proud of these people who have bombed clinics and killed doctors, they think that type of behavior is okay? I don’t understand it. These are angry mob mentality people.
Rachel did a show on the auction idea. my computer is acting up, the video freezes so I can’t watch it all. I do love Rachel.

just saw this at Kansas City .com, I’m trying to find more info on the gross auction story.
Thought this may be helpful to some mudpups….the dates don’t work for me, dang.
Southwest Airlines launched an air fare sale today in which some flights cost the same as what other carriers charge to check a bag.
Dallas-based Southwest announced one-way travel as low as $25, based on the length of the flight.
The discount carrier says fares are $25 for travel up to 375 miles. The price is $50 for travel between 375 and 549 miles, and $75 for flights between 550 and 999 miles.
A one-way fare of more than 1,000 miles costs $100.
The fares are available for purchase through Thursday, for travel between Dec. 2 and Dec. 16, or between Jan. 5 and Feb. 10. Other restrictions apply.
Editor’s note: Just checked, and yes, there are flights from Kansas City to Denver for $25. Plus taxes and fees — so about $71.20 roundtrip.
Say NO @22 – I found myself unable to click on the link to the auction article. My body and brain just wouldn’t let me do it. I do believe I’ve hit critical mass on the crazy hate people info.
I think I need a cookie.
And a vacation.
It looks like Sarah’s Handlers have loosened the reins on the old gray Mare and she has gotten all ‘ Mavericky ‘ again.
Bree Palin is reporting about her most recent Blackberry messages she has posted on her FaceBook last night.
According to her … she did these notes ” As I stand here in a H.S. gymnasium watching freshman Girls basketball games”
{ comments posted by some Alaskans point out that basketball games have NOT started yet- according to the schedule}
Oops…? Just a little ‘ white Lie ‘ to make the story or post sound a little more interesting- Journalistic flourishes…. beef it up a little…. sort of set the mood for the next round of the Fundraising. ( Give to Sarah Funds )
Maybe Journalism Majors are taught how to do this…. stretch the Truth…. make stuff up.
She’s could be using these ‘ talents ‘ … she could be writing at POX News.
I take it the ‘ story ‘ is created/FABRICATED to point out that she is still a hockey/basketball Mom AND she is writing ( multi-tasking ) about what we must do to make things right for our.. ” free nation “. ( Her words )
AKM… what is a “free nation”..? I’m no wordsmith like Sarah Palin.
You are doing fine HiG!
Ha, I didn’t realise that the timing was out. Who exactly are her handlers?
Well, all I’ve got to say is Bill Allen should write a tell all book, it would sell better than Scarahs. I bet you he’s got some doosy stories. He can leave out the sordid underage sex stories. It sounds like he may not be out of hot water yet. I would hope there will be more charges filed against him.
BTW, NEVER turn over documents with out copying first and taking pictures of evidence relinquished. If documents the FBI have go missing, I’d be wondering about how squeaky clean is the Alaska FBI dept.? Remember how they made a most unusual public statement covering Scarah’s rear saying she was not under investigation. Things that make ya go, hmmm.
http://www.adn.com/news/politics/veco/story/988339.html?commentSort=RecommendationsDescending&pageNum=1
“One of the investigators, Anchorage Police Sgt. Kevin Vandegriff, said the Allen sexual abuse case remains active but wouldn’t comment further.”
[....]
“She told Vandegriff she documented the relationship in her diary and saved copies of credit card receipts, plane tickets that Allen bought for her and her family, and other evidence. One of the trips was designed by Allen to get her out of state so she couldn’t testify in an unrelated criminal case, but which could have revealed her relationship with him, she told Vandegriff.”
[....]
“In January 2008, when he re-opened the case, Vandegriff got back in touch with that woman and asked her where the evidence was. She told him she turned it over during another interview with federal authorities in 2004 and never got it back. Vandegriff checked with an assistant U.S. Attorney who remembered getting documents from the woman in 2004 and thought they were turned over to the FBI.
There was nothing in the Kott file to indicate the documents had been found.”
She got $1.25 mil for her book retainer……
For Blumenthal fans – Max will be on MSNBC today at 430-5 discussing NY-23 GOP split. I’m sure he’ll have some really good insights into the religious conservative fueling behind all of this. Wish I had cable! I’ll have to wait until it posts online.
Yesterday on Morning Edition (NPR) there was a report on Rogue and Rouge. I was shocked but Steve Inskeep actually called both $arah’s book and the parody book “Going RogUE.” Did anyone else hear that or do my ears need cleaning? Anyway, there was also a poll. Right now 25% will buy Rouge, 65% will buy Rogue, and 10% will buy neither. I am convinced that the people taking the poll were confused too.

ADN has the story about her APOC release of financial docs.
http://community.adn.com/adn/node/144603
—————-
Bree had posted some additional links that show the actual pdf of the Legal doc.
Adobe Acrobat is acting up for me and freezing.
The first page was filled out with her scribbling….Uh… isn’t that what you would want your TEAM of lawyers to do ( fill out these Official Forms )…. you know the Fleabag guy. Very ‘ professional ‘…NOT! Watching those pennies maybe..?
And does this form show the Yankees tickets included for 3… so that she can say Willow was there? There is a price you must pay for the Lies you spread with the corroborating back-up info to support them.
The devil is in the details.
Artic Cat discounts were listed. Not the REAL ones I don’t think. About $3200.00… PLEEEEZZZZ….seems wayyyyy off to me.
Get an IRS Agent…. someone is fudging the figures.
BuffaloGal @ 20 – Please say it ain’t so!
*Quandry Alert*
Can’t decide which is more sick -
a person trading a weapon for a vehicle
altho I feel much better with them having a vehicle
or Levi “baring it all, frontally no less”
decisions decisions decisions…..
txindygirl @32 – They said they were “picking up rumors” ( re post @20 ) about it. Don’t know what to make of it . His mini bio says :
*** Director for European Affairs at Bell Pottinger Public Affairs and I have over 12 years experience in UK and EU political communications and and public affairs***
Seemed worthwhile to take notice of. Hope it’s not true!!
Levi speaks……
Someone on Palingates mentioned that the taped interview ( to be aired tomorrow ) has some of the transcripts that has been released to the Press, the Washington Post. Levi quote :
——————
“Well now I’ve heard all the things she’s said. You know, the Sarah Palin I knew before, it was — it was her putting on a front, it was her being fake to me and now that everything’s slowly coming out and I’m hearing more things, you know, and things she’s said and done, you know, I see the real Palin,” Levi responds, before stepping through the looking glass: ”
This might get REAL interesting…get more popcorn.

Yes, I voted Best Blog .NET and .COM
Different Nominations too, not just political
Go AKM !!
Yes, I know BuffaloGal…….it’s a republican theme and I’m sick of it too, it’s wearisome and mentally exhausting, just like Scarah. If you listen to their words, they’re all on the same page. They must have a list of key talking points so they can all brainwash with the same propaganda.
Let’s see:
Americans want……. bla bla bla……
Take back our country.
Save our country.
Reclaim
don’t want out of control spending.
don’t want raised taxes.
don’t want tax burdens.
Enormous debt
Massive generational debt burdening our children and grandchildren.
Values.
Freedoms.
Liberty.
Big government makes people dependent
Republicans give/bring independence
Democrats give/bring dependence
American people are scared (gee wonder why, lol)
States (I think this is going to become a big theme now, give power back to the states)
real America
Independent
founding fathers
The little republican party that said, I think I can, I think I can, but can’t.
Huffpo has picked up the story mentioned in the Wash. Post as well and Levi’s comments.
“Johnston dismisses some Palin remarks as “kind of ridiculous” — a reaction not all that shocking. More interesting is his previewed statement, “If she’s going to go out there and say things to me, about me, I’m going to leak some things on her. I mean that’s just how it is.” ”

Apologies for bending post rules just a tiny bit I’m reposting this from my earlier post for the sake of coherency. I had come across a twitter post this morning that said :
****picking up rumours that the Bushes are paving the way for Palin to launch a new political career in Texas. She could divide the GOP further ****
Thought it was interesting enough to post here so we can keep an eye out. Was not familiar with the name of the person that had posted it on twitter but I dropped him a line asking how legit he felt the rumors were and asked for him to post again if anything came up. (nothing back yet on that )
Decided to find out a bit about this company and found this:
http://www.bppa.co.uk/
They’re pretty big and were hired by the US for 4 months in 2004 to do PR ahead of the handover of power in Iraq. That on its own doesn’t seem too important but the fact that this huge firm is tied to all sorts of different government & politcal avenues leads me to think that any rumors they’re hearing might carry a bit of weight. And why post that on Twitter? They’re not frequent posters. Hmmmm…
At this moment it’s nothing too important but it sure makes your head spin to consider how that might play out. We’d be talking a run on popcorn that would cause near rioting.
To lighten the mood a little bit – I volunteered today at my daughter’s school (k-3) at the book fair and found a book called “Once I was a cardboard box…but now I’m a book about polar bears”. It’s really cute and has some great lessons in it about recycling, global warming and the environment, even mentions native peoples – just in case anyone is looking for something like that for a classroom or holiday gift.
Just in case people did not see my previous comment –
can I ask everyone to drop over to the link below and have a read of our new rules regarding financial assistance and donations
- these rules will apply here on the blog and in the blog comments area as well as on the forums and in the live chat area so it is important that you are aware of them.
Click here to see the new rules
We’ll be in the treehouse (live chat area) tonight if anyone wants to chat
hope to see y’all there. If you don’t know how to get there post a comment and let me know, I’ll post some instructions
Thanks everyone!

AKM: Thanks for the snail mail!! I *love* van Gogh sunflowers. You got my vote! Best political blog, & if there was a category for friendliest chat, you’d get that one, too, also, too. Love, health, and peace.
AKM
Thank you so much for the snail mail!! I was so surprised! And my grandson is named after van Gogh so it made it that much more special! I hope you know how much we appreciate everything you do!
Hugs from here.
The earlier ADN story link about Sarah’s APOC disclosure is getting a LOT of comments. They are up to about 150 now.
I no longer have an active account there… but if you do you may voice an opinion. I saw that Pat Doughterty ( who apparently monitors the ADN comments ) had posted a ‘ warning ‘ of his own as well.
Things must have been getting a little heated there.
Thanks Snos..
Star
Thanks Snos..
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every time I read that nickname, the dog’s voice from that old commercial for Snausages pops into my head!
Just saw this on the ADN website. YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
“That gutsy Aleut private investigator Kate Shugak and her no-so-little dog, Mutt, are closer than ever to sleuthing their way off the pages of the Dana Stabenow mystery novels and onto television screens.
From his state-of-the-art upper Hillside studio in Anchorage, Mike Devlin of Evergreen Films Inc. announced today that the film production company has bought the option to develop the Stabenow series. That means a television show is now officially in the works. And, according to the agreement, it will be filmed in Alaska.”
http://www.adn.com/life/arts/story/988933.html
Just put up a post on that, so comments can go there! Awesome news.
AKM
I also got a surprise snailmail today from AKM: a beautiful Monet postcard.
thanks, AKM!
Just remember all the rumors about where the palins would live,IMO someone puts stuff out to keep the name out their.
AS for Levi with the Heaths and palins cutting him down why should he keep his mouth shut.It is not a case of get even it is a case of protecting ones self.I would imagine Levi knows what extremes the heaths and palins went after palin’s brother-in-law.
Akm got your card today. I was honored to receive it.
felt like i had received a token from a rockstar.
Thank you
Just a reminder – we’re in the chat if you want to drop by!
Thanks AKM for the lovely Monet (Antibes, 1888) postcard. I especially love the stamp. What a thrill! Happy snail mail to you too!
http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/1439344987.html
I like that one a lot too.
