Gingrich to Palin and Pawlenty – Go Sit in the Corner

27 10 2009

“You don’t strengthen yourself by having a purge.”   So said Newt Gingrich to Fox’s Greta Van Susteren.  What does he think about ex-governor Sarah Palin, Governor Tim Pawlenty and Teabag organizer Dick Armey lining up behind the obscure independent and very conservative candidate in New York state’s District 23?   Not very much.

Well, I just find it fascinating that my many friends who claim to be against Washington having too much power, they claim to be in favor of the 10th Amendment giving states back their rights, they claim to favor local control and local authority, now they suddenly get local control and local authority in upstate New York, they don’t like the outcome.

There were four Republican meetings. In all four meetings, State Representative Dede Scozzafava came in first. In all four meetings, Mr. Hoffman, the independent, came in either last or certainly not in the top three. He doesn’t live in the district…[snip]

So I say to my many conservative friends who suddenly decided that whether they’re from Minnesota or Alaska or Texas, they know more than the upstate New York Republicans? I don’t think so. And I don’t think it’s a good precedent. And I think if this third party candidate takes away just enough votes to elect the Democrat, then we will have strengthened Nancy Pelosi by the divisiveness. We will not have strengthened the conservative movement.

I have only one thing to say about that.

ewwww….I hear that long, wet kiss that Greta is delivering to palin

Did you see how taken aback Greta was when Gingrich said Hoffman wasn’t even from the district.
Now we know why Greta quit lawerying, you gotta do your homework.

She seemed to be…errr….confused about the fact that she wasn’t at the head of the ticket. I could see that she thought SHE was the Presidential candidate from early on in the race.

Can anyone say narcissistic personality disorder? I can!

I absolutely love the graphic … the JiffyPop … I don’t know how you did it, but it is great. Buffalogal, I just don’t know how to say this because I can’t believe it myself: I knew the GOP was going to implode, but everytime I think they have sunk as low as it can go, (like when Sanford WALKED OFF THE JOB to see his mistress) wham! They surprise me with a new low. This infighting is amazing to watch. They should start digging the hole, because I think it is going to go all the way to ?

I live in this district and have had a lot of interesting pamphlets in the mail. Yesterday was one with the NRA endorsing Scozzafava and also one from the SEIU United Healthcare Workers saying Scozzafava is out of touch with health care needs.

But my favorite one so far has been one with a picture of Joe Wilson, Limbaugh and Palin in carictature, including Palin holding a tea tray with cake and tea cups. This one was put out by the democratic committee and simply says “On nov. 3rd make sure the obstructionists stay out of the way”

I have to say I’m kind of enjoying the attention since NY is completely ignored during the general election.

p.s thanks AKM for the snail mail…my first smile of the day!

I think the only way to settle this is to have a debate between Newt and winky.
Newt wouldn’t let her get away with any crap like Joe Biden did either.

I don’t watch the “debates” the lack of ligit debate format makes me want to chew the carpet.

What they should have done is hold her time for her, as in, let the clock tick away while everybody just looks at her and waits for her to do something.

then you’ve got out takes kind of like Duuuuhbya on 9/11.

If I recall correctly, wasn’t she the one who bitterly complained about others (like the federal government) coming in and having ANY kind of influence in Alaska? After all, since they didn’t live there, they should mind their own business and leave Alaska to Alaskans who know better what they need than any ‘outsider’ possibly could.

So suddenly, it’s okay for HER to stick her nose into local NYS politics? So when did she move to NY State????????

Oh, sorry, I forgot. The rules are for everyone ELSE, not Miss Quittypants.

    Claw Washout Palin Says:

Palin makes her money by allowing her name and face to used. She doesn’t have to write, attend debates about issues that she find controversal or listen to anyone. The biggest mistakes was allowing Palin to use her facebook for the serious issues that we are being faced with today. Info have to be verified and be investigated; that is part of a true journalist’s job. The supposedly person responsible is not known or seen. That person is not Palin. Palin’s name is receiving alot of recognition and free publicity.

She needs to be called out. No more facebook. She have something to say; she needs to be able to face the person and say it. I would never take an endorsement from a facebook or acknowledge a word such as death panel or allow a court statement regarding her support for the death panel to be done on a FACEBOOK.

We are allowing her name and invisible person to make decisions that are critical to ALL our lives. A four year old could be writing in the book!!

    Paul Richard Strange, Sr. Says:

Governor Palin is on to something very necessary for the Conservative Movement, and Newt is out to lunch.

Look where the GOP has come by catering to the Dem-Lite wing of the Party? Newt is a great speaker about the Constitution, but his smug moral pragmatism almost ALWAYS leads him to oppose consistent Conservatives when it’s critical! He hates Ron Paul, for example. When Paul won his current seat in the House, Speaker Gingrich spent about 1million in GOP Congressional funds to help a newly converted Clinton Democrat who had voted in the 90’s for the Clinton tax bill, and tried to stop Ron Paul.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, for any of her supposedly “divisive” faults, has a fundamental loyalty to principle which can withstand the criticism of the inside-the-Beltway elite!

Sarah is being completely consistent with her past positions.

Remember, when she ran for VP, she had no problem with the Republican campaign operatives coming in and basically taking over the Governor’s office. She doesn’t mind that a bit, as long as it is her own party doing it.

As usual, it is not about policy, not about principle….it is only about Palin.

So, Newt warned of the 3rd party deal back april 4 of this year, at the very same College where Scarah quitty pants is going to speak in Dec. Do you think back in April is when she decided to seize the moment, made a decision to quit and go for a 3 party, her door to plow through? this endorsement is the first real push?

    http://www.wowowow.com/politics/gingrich-warns-third-party-rise-2012-257110

“Republican Newt Gingrich, the former house speaker who has suddenly found himself in the spotlight again, warned this week that a third party could change the nation’s political game come 2012. Addressing students at the College of the Ozarks, Mr. Gingrich insisted the Republican Party’s right-wing status could pave the way for a new party’s ascension: “If the Republicans can’t break out of being the right-wing party of government, then I think you would see a third-party movement in 2012.” The government’s so “sick,” he said, that voters may launch an electoral revolution in the polls.”

    beth Says:

Our own AKM gets mighty het up over some issues (and rightfully so!) but I’ve never known her {read her} to be anything less than absolutely manner-full in her comments. She has a way of putting the screws to someone in such a kind and polite way, that decorum is always maintained. (My Gran Scotland would’ve heartily approved of the consistently honorable tone of our own AKM. She, too, was a right Lady, my Gran.)

So, imagine my surprise when I finished reading the [above posted] article! And here’s why: Our own AKM concludes article’s text with: “I have only one thing to say about that.” Eagerly anticipating what it was our own AKM had to “say”, I saw on my rather-smallish screen what looked like a large, upside-down “U”. I was “yowza-ed”, to say the least!

“Good heavens,” [and I cleaned that up, you betcha] “AKM must really be ticked [cleaned that one up, too] that ol’ Newt is warning neo-cons of the dangers of a 3rd party to their agenda of getting rid of Pelosi et.al. And at him giving Ms. Quitty-Pants a ‘heads up’ that she’s walking on some mighty thin ice by going all rogue-y (or is it rouge-y?) on the GOP. AKM probably figures any and all gaffes from Her Sarahness are welcome…the more divisive the Wasilla Woman can be to the GOP, the better.”

Yup, that’s what I thought to myself; and I was giving AKM mad props for another great post about Ms. Word Salad’s shenanigans in politics (and life, in general) and for providing a waaaaaay out of the ordinary visual to emphasize those feelings.

    And then I scrolled down…

…only to discover the large, upside-down “U” was the tip-end of a jiffy-pop popcorn handle…NOT, as I had assumed, the tip-end of a middle finger giving ol’ Newt the “one-finger salute” for pointing out to ex-Gov the obvious.

Yeah, just goes to prove, once more, the old adage about people who assume things… beth.

(Even though it wasn’t a middle finger tip, I’m sure Gran Scotland would’ve approved had it been. Even she, proper Lady that she was, recognized that some things just call for a one-finger salute. Things SP-related very frequently seem to be one of those things. Also, too. b.)
