Gingrich to Palin and Pawlenty – Go Sit in the Corner

“You don’t strengthen yourself by having a purge.”   So said Newt Gingrich to Fox’s Greta Van Susteren.  What does he think about ex-governor Sarah Palin, Governor Tim Pawlenty and Teabag organizer Dick Armey lining up behind the obscure independent and very conservative candidate in New York state’s District 23?   Not very much.

Well, I just find it fascinating that my many friends who claim to be against Washington having too much power, they claim to be in favor of the 10th Amendment giving states back their rights, they claim to favor local control and local authority, now they suddenly get local control and local authority in upstate New York, they don’t like the outcome.

There were four Republican meetings. In all four meetings, State Representative Dede Scozzafava came in first. In all four meetings, Mr. Hoffman, the independent, came in either last or certainly not in the top three. He doesn’t live in the district…[snip]

So I say to my many conservative friends who suddenly decided that whether they’re from Minnesota or Alaska or Texas, they know more than the upstate New York Republicans? I don’t think so. And I don’t think it’s a good precedent. And I think if this third party candidate takes away just enough votes to elect the Democrat, then we will have strengthened Nancy Pelosi by the divisiveness. We will not have strengthened the conservative movement.

I have only one thing to say about that.

I hate to recognize it because Newt Gingrich’s views are very strongly Republican (of course, that’s what he is… Big time), but he is not without intelligence and definitely not without common sense. Why should Palin care about the GOP? Since McCain refused permission for her serf serving concession speech on election night, relations with the GOP have only deteriorated.

The worst thing I could imagine is if Newt was the Republican Chairman. His reputation for knocking a few heads and getting Republicans to tow the party line was legendary when he was leader in the house.

I say, keep on going Sarah. As long as she continues to divide the party then Democrats remain stronger than the Republicans. She has no hope of taking over the party completely and while some Republicans realize that and are trying to seek unity, others are egging her on and controlling the message that comes out of her Facebook. Such as the Susan B. Anthony group that has been behind her support for the third party candidate in NY, causing what might be a Democrat win in a district known as Republican.

Newt, you are, one of the more powerful politicians in the Republican party and you have already lost control of your acolyte. As a leadership test you just failed, as a judge of human value you just joined McCain as being punked by Winkypoo Palin.

I’ll give Winky credit, not too many 45 year old women have her ability to hood wink men, she must drown herself with musk oil perfume.

  46. 46
    TerpsichoreNo Gravatar says:

Wow. Newt answered clearly and succinctly, and made his case. Heck! He even convinced me!

    Points he made:

    1) Repubicans IN THE DISTRICT picked Scozzafava and they did not regard Hoffman very highly (Remember Hoffman was a Republican and decided to run on the other party himself).

    2) With the exception of her abortion and gay rights stance, Scozzafava’s stance on the issues is clearly very Republican, and hardly ‘liberal’.

    3) No candidate will ever please every voter 100%

    4) By extension of number 3 above, a Republican voter who allows those two issues to be the most important issues to them will almost insure that the democratic candidate wins (and LOVED the Pelosi’s reign will therefore be ensured forever threat!

    5) LOVED the “Outsiders” reference. Brilliant. Said, “Y’all complain about people from DC running things? Scozzafava was picked by District 23 Republicans. Hoffman doesn’t live in the district (need to researche that …) and his money all comes from outside. How dare Minnesota, Alaska, Texas republicans tell the District what to do.

I dislike the guy too, but as many have said, he ain’t dumb. Sarah could learn a lot from him … if only she admitted that there’s a lot of stuff she needs to learn if she wants to be in the political arena anymore.

And I WOULD pay money (maybe not much) to watch SP in a debate with the Newtster.

When Paul won his current seat in the House, Speaker Gingrich spent about 1million in GOP Congressional funds to help a newly converted Clinton Democrat who had voted in the 90′s for the Clinton tax bill, and tried to stop Ron Paul.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, for any of her supposedly “divisive” faults, has a fundamental loyalty to principle which can withstand the criticism of the inside-the-Beltway elite!

“Republican Newt Gingrich, the former house speaker who has suddenly found himself in the spotlight again, warned this week that a third party could change the nation’s political game come 2012. Addressing students at the College of the Ozarks, Mr. Gingrich insisted the Republican Party’s right-wing status could pave the way for a new party’s ascension: “If the Republicans can’t break out of being the right-wing party of government, then I think you would see a third-party movement in 2012.” The government’s so “sick,” he said, that voters may launch an electoral revolution in the polls.”

I can’t believe McCain has gotten away with not weighing in on this. He must be hiding in the closet, pulling favors with reporters and staff and other repubs. “Save me.”

I passed McCain’s office on the bus today and flipped him a big fat juicy bird. Didn’t do anything to him, but I felt great!

    Jiffy Pop indeed!

Remember when she lifted his speech a few months ago and he supported her and didn’t throw her under the bus???? Well, I bet he wishes now he did.

This is just getting better and better. Now that Joe the Bummer has become the ultimate traitor I can’t wait to hear what McCain has to say on ALL of this.
    Lol!

    P.S. AKM…Thank you! Love it!

Our own AKM gets mighty het up over some issues (and rightfully so!) but I’ve never known her {read her} to be anything less than absolutely manner-full in her comments. She has a way of putting the screws to someone in such a kind and polite way, that decorum is always maintained. (My Gran Scotland would’ve heartily approved of the consistently honorable tone of our own AKM. She, too, was a right Lady, my Gran.)

So, imagine my surprise when I finished reading the [above posted] article! And here’s why: Our own AKM concludes article’s text with: “I have only one thing to say about that.” Eagerly anticipating what it was our own AKM had to “say”, I saw on my rather-smallish screen what looked like a large, upside-down “U”. I was “yowza-ed”, to say the least!

“Good heavens,” [and I cleaned that up, you betcha] “AKM must really be ticked [cleaned that one up, too] that ol’ Newt is warning neo-cons of the dangers of a 3rd party to their agenda of getting rid of Pelosi et.al. And at him giving Ms. Quitty-Pants a ‘heads up’ that she’s walking on some mighty thin ice by going all rogue-y (or is it rouge-y?) on the GOP. AKM probably figures any and all gaffes from Her Sarahness are welcome…the more divisive the Wasilla Woman can be to the GOP, the better.”

Yup, that’s what I thought to myself; and I was giving AKM mad props for another great post about Ms. Word Salad’s shenanigans in politics (and life, in general) and for providing a waaaaaay out of the ordinary visual to emphasize those feelings.

    And then I scrolled down…

…only to discover the large, upside-down “U” was the tip-end of a jiffy-pop popcorn handle…NOT, as I had assumed, the tip-end of a middle finger giving ol’ Newt the “one-finger salute” for pointing out to ex-Gov the obvious.

Yeah, just goes to prove, once more, the old adage about people who assume things… beth.

(Even though it wasn’t a middle finger tip, I’m sure Gran Scotland would’ve approved had it been. Even she, proper Lady that she was, recognized that some things just call for a one-finger salute. Things SP-related very frequently seem to be one of those things. Also, too. b.)
