Quit Makin’ Things Up – Palin Gets Called Out by the Democratic Party

28 10 2009

I get lots of email from political organizations on both sides of the aisle. I like to know what we’re up to. And I like to know what THOSE guys are up to. I can’t read all of them, and they know this. So they try to capture my attention with catchy subject lines like “100,000 Calls to Congress!” and “Olbermann vs. Harry Reid.” And sometimes they try to be all mysterious so you just can’t stand it and HAVE to read it to figure out the meaning of the one that just says “350″ or “Nada” or “The Awful Truth.”

Well, I’m glad I read this one from the Democratic Party.

A lot of folks use Facebook to stay in touch with friends and family. For Sarah Palin, it’s a great way to spread lies about health insurance reform.

A few months back, Palin took to Facebook to declare that health reform would create “death panels,” and drive private insurers out of business — and nonpartisan factcheck sites and the independent Congressional Budget Office debunked those lies.

But that didn’t stop Sarah Palin. She’s back with a new Facebook note claiming that reform will raise costs on families and drive up deficits. Unfortunately for her, even the conservative “Tax Foundation” says those claims are false.

So, this week, we’re calling out Sarah Palin and taking to Facebook to debunk her lies on the very same pages she’s using to spread them.

Call ‘em out: Sarah Palin. Watch the video, make a call, spread the word on Facebook:

http://www.democrats.org/CallOutPalin

We’ve put together a short Facebook note cataloging just some of Sarah Palin’s many distortions and the facts that prove her wrong. But we need your help to “share” the note and make sure she doesn’t get away with her outrageous lies.

If Sarah Palin wants to spread lies on Facebook, we’ll call her out in the very same place. And when thousands of folks share our note and expose her lies, it will be clear that those who lie about reform will be held accountable — no matter where they spread their misinformation. The more we push back with the truth, the more Sarah Palin and others like her will have to think twice before they promote lies, and the less they’ll be able to derail progress.

Even if you don’t have a Facebook account, you can still help us call out Sarah Palin. Visit Call ‘em Out: Sarah Palin to watch our video detailing her lies and to call Palin’s political organization and say, “stop lying.”

Rising health care costs are crushing American families and squeezing small businesses. Reform will reign in costs and cut the deficit in the long run — that’s why it’s so important, and why Sarah Palin’s lies are so malicious.

We’re not letting it stand. We’re calling Sarah Palin out:

http://www.democrats.org/CallOutPalin

Keep up the fight,

Jen

No one wants Sarah Care…. Alaska children freezing and starving in rural villages. Alaskan elderly dying due to lack of medical care and follow up. Prison guards demand Palin’s appointees resign due to hazardous conditions of guarding prisoners who do not receive proper and adequate medical care. Rape victims charged for rape test kits. Inadequate teaching in High Schools leading to unwanted pregnancies.

    Wolf…
I like that “Sarah Care” (or Scarah Care.) Good list and a nice way to define what she has stood for in health care- in practice, not theory.

Change happens! Have we, collective, been simply too polite in avoiding calling a lying liar a liar? I’m glad the fact checkers are checking and that there are people in place to recognize having an opinion does not forgive a bald-faced garbage-mouth lie when actual facts are pretty much available to all.

It is a good day because it is not a fictional 1984 world. Thanks for the video and link. Religionists lying liars have a lot to be forgiven for; do we pity the fool? Should we?

I can’t believe this: A new CNN poll says 64 percent of those questioned feel Sarah Palin is a good role model for women. (They polled 1000+ people around the country.) = Too bad, thousands of people who know about the real Palin, can’t move to right wing territories, infiltrate the communities and open up these people’s eyes. I really don’t know what else to do.

Ok, I linked to my FB page. Boy, keeping some of these politicians honest is a full-time job. Thank you AKM for your faithful and vigilant watch. I don’t know what will happen if my business ever picks up again and I don’t have the time to check up on stuff. With this slow economy I have much more time to get informed. I bet the politicians wish things would get back to “normal” so they could get away with more. Whew!

    @Polly:

I’d love to know who they contacted- does not sound like a statistically randomized poll. Many pollsters still rely on calling land lines (I have one), but most young adults only have cell phones. That skews the numbers.

    @10 Polly, @12 COan:

If I’m reading it correctly, the sample size was 1038, of which 462 were Republicans. I have no idea how they managed that in a theoretically random survey, but there you are.

It’s still kinda scary, because that means that at least 35% of the non-Republicans feel she’s a good role model for women.

Maybe her ‘ Pie Spy ‘ will become her new way to stay in touch with Fans.

And this story just may stick in her craw as well…. cough… cough…

Sarah wants to endorse Gov. Rick Perry and volunteered to go down there with the Election. Huffpo is reporting that Her ‘ other Friend ‘ Dick Cheney has endorsed K.Baily Huchison and will be going there to support here.
AND… he will be there on the SAME day Sarah’s ‘ Ghostwriters Book ‘ will be released. Does this mean ‘ Dickie ‘ may be stealing the headlines that day and she looses the message for the day in the Press…? Awwwwww.
***Message just released by Meg: #@&*%$# Y&$#@*&^… and $#@*&%$
Couldn’t happen to a nicer Grifter.
Will Sarah refuse to take the former VP’s calls from now on…..
They don’t seem to be on the same team here.

“AUSTIN, Texas — Former Vice President Dick Cheney will throw his support behind U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s campaign for Texas governor.

Hutchison’s campaign confirmed Wednesday that Cheney will endorse the Texas Republican’s March primary challenge of Gov. Rick Perry at a fundraiser next month.” ( he will appear Nov. 17th)

Hip hip hooray for people finally getting the courage to call people out! But this is too mild! Her lies and the truth need to be shouted from the roof top and sent Prime Time! Too many people are so gullible and need to be fed the truth the way these people feed them lies.

All well and good..however..there is No..short-cut..to sweating out the conversations..snippet at a time..with ..both those we live around, pass by in townships, and ‘talk with’..on web sites. Those..we who try to work our way through..information..and arrive at..Truth..need to remember that..like picking away the soil and grit from around a fossilized bone..deeply embedded in shale and sandstone..it takes..’Chipping away’..endless..chipping away..before the full subject..is seen..first by us..then..those for whom creative-intensive sluething..has never been a tool..put to use. Since joining this board..I sometimes wonder if those who repeat what they are told..grew up in authoritarian family structures..and were simply never afforded the chance..to do evaluations..discover..newness? This board..abounds in thinkers, in the main..who are unafraid of new material. That film bit..is fine..but nothing we can do..is going to work-wonders. It remains for each of us..to ‘drip-light’..upon those we come in contact with..drip, drip,….drip… yeah folks..thats the ticket…. :)

I would have liked the video if it had more then just a couple of examples. She’s lied on so many issues but they were only able to paste together a 1:10 minute video? At least it is a start. More people need to call out her lies.

I posted the link to my facebook. The very first reply, written just minutes later, was, “How strange. I believe every word she says. Misinformation? I don’t think so. Forget it Democratic Party.”

Other than joining the Alan Grayson page, and the ‘Petition to Remove the Communist Regime of B. Hussein Obama’ (<- ???) and 'Lets END puppy mills!!!!' groups, the woman apparently does nothing except play 'Yo-ville' (<- ???)

I bit my tongue and counted to 10 before responding. Then I counted 10 more and erased what I typed.

What do I say, people? I mean, at least she wrote 'DemocratIC Party'!

I just posted it and a comment about how messed up our health insurance system is when there is a for-profit industry standing between each of us and our access to healthcare. I know my Republican friends and family will have a fit about this post, but I feel so passionate about speaking up for healthcare to be available for EVERYONE. We all need healthcare at one time or another, so this is one topic that I just never shut up about. I even made myself a button that I wear almost everywhere that says: HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM NOW!
