Boots on the Ground – Notes from Sarah Palin’s Appearance in Wisconsin
Tonight Sarah Palin was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin addressing Wisconsin Right to Life. And yes, a “boots on the ground” Mudflatter was present at the event. I’d like to give a big thank you to the intrepid Mudflatter E, and Spouse E who drove to the event, plopped down their cash, and took one for the team so that we might know what went on in the super-secret “no cameras, no recordings, no laptops, etc.” event.
Strangely, the following comment appeared on CBS News’ website earlier in the day:
“Former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be speaking at an event hosted by the group Wisconsin Right to Life this evening.”
AHA! So, it WAS the Palin-McCain ticket after all.

Here are my notes from tonight’s event. I had it all worked out to sneak in my recorder (fit perfectly in my boot!) but I had to abandon it before going through security because they were using metal detectors! However, I do know that the event was successfully videotaped by a rogue member of the audience who was far more resourceful than I, so I’m sure that video will make its way into the media in short order.
I apologize for my notes in advance. I’m either a slow writer or SP is a fast talker, because you’ll notice that it jumps around a bit even more than her usual speeches tend to do. I tried to get down the most salient parts, and while it’s by no means an exact transcription, it should be enough to give you and Mudflats’ readers an idea of how the evening went and what Sarah covered in her speech. Insert a few “also, too”s along the way, and voila! Word salad. However, I must say that her speech seemed much more coherent than it usually is. Because of coaching? Or maybe because it’s a subject near to her heart and one that she knows quite a bit about? I’m not sure…just an observation.
She wore a red suit with pearls, and what, from my vantage point, looked like strappy shoes not dissimilar from the weird red patent leather ones she was so fond of throughout the summer. She looks much paler and pinker on television…she’s either been tanning or is using some different makeup, but she looks more orange in person. Also, just an observation.
Charlie Sykes: (Wisconsin’s answer to Rush Limbaugh)
Sarah Palin really needs no introduction. Want to test it? What’s the difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom? (crowd) Lipstick!Priorities – fiscal restraint, limiting the size of government. She didn’t learn about energy at a Harvard seminar, She lived them and made them happen.
Sara Palin chose life, chose to stand up, which made her enemies.
Palin:
“How many are protectors of right to be here, defenders of our right to assemble? If you served in the military to defend our rights, raise your hand.We’re going to honor you and have a moment of silence for those killed at Fort Hood. You’ll be our symbol. Stand up and I’d ask for a moment of silence. I’ll be praying.
I have Wisconsin connections. My grandmother was born in Chippewa Falls. And this is a stretch. My dad came from Idaho and was a teammate of Jerry Cramer. Long story about how Sarah’s dad told her a football story about Jerry and asked if she remembered it and she said, “I don’t even think I was born.”
Greta Van Sustern (applause) Fox News Anchor talks about WI every time she interviews me. She’s from here and loves you guys.
She tells a story about a gold dollar coin. My friend asks me what’s missing. I looked at it for a long time and then compareed it to another original coin and noticed that the words “In God We Trust” are pushed to the side, off to the very edge. Who makes a decision like that? It may be irrelevant to lots of people, but it’s a sign of a disturbing trend to me. It worries me in my simple little world and my simple way of speaking. Because it is in God we trust. That’s the basis of our country.
More and more of us are realizing the sanctity of life.
Wisconsin Right to Life is known across the country for your efforts. The world needs to hear this message.
There are still some politicians who wish to see these babies die.
Thank you for protecting freedom of speech and public education efforts to reduce abortion.
Thanks for walking the walk and not just talking about it.
Here’s a change we can believe in. A majority of Americans now identify as Pro-Life.
Those who believed in the sanctity of life were told to sit down and shut up. Well, Wisconsin, you went rogue!
Women who are protectors – protectors of the womb – you can’t just get over it and sit down and shut up. You’re changing hearts and changing minds.
We’re dealing with the truth. The gift of knowledge lets us see truth with life. John 16:13 “spirit of truth”
Spirit of truth is being poured out on the country today and people are getting it.
A child in a womb is a statement about all of us. Those who agree are compelled to confront the lie of abortion.
The trend is clearly on the side of life.
Prolife grassroots reaction to Supreme Court decision. We became the anti-freedom and liberty.
We’re pro-children and pro-babies. Is there anything better to be in favor of?
Let me speak in some simple terms here. When I say “simple terms” those on the other side, their heads start spinning – especially the liberal media.
Quote from Laura Ingraham: “What’s the most promising and precious ingredient that we have in this world? It’s a child.” That’s where our potential is. That’s where America’s promise is.
We’re not against anything. We’re for the very best thing in life.
Sometimes the best things in life aren’t planned.
Talks about successful ads from the 90s. Those ads reminded us that pro-lifers are for something beautiful…brought babies back into the picture. (and with improvements in ultrasounds) babies in the womb could no longer be dismissed as protoplasm or blobs of tissue.
(These things) reminded us that pro lifers are for something beautiful.
We’ve been called extremists. We’re not. A baby is a baby regardless of the circumstances of conception.
Two years ago I had an ultra sound. I was 12 weeks along. The technician said she saw boy parts. I was like, yes, what could be better than a little baby boy? Then she said the baby’s neck was thicker than usual. I was like yes, that’s great. Then I thought, oh oh. I recall the fear, knowing what a thick neck may mean. More tests. My baby had Down Syndrome. What is amazing is who this child is. My family’s life is so much richer because of this beautiful baby boy named Trig. He’s awesome! Groups like this affirm the value of every life.
That is what I had to hold onto – that seed of faith—when I was afraid.
We know that 80-90% of Down Syndrome babies are aborted. They’re aborted because they live in a society of some people’s idea of perfection, not God’s.
Talks about Bristol and how she’s faced challenges as well, but chose life.
Today I thank God for all of these circumstances. I never thought I’d be asked to walk the walk. It took me a while to get there through my pregnancy. I asked God and I asked Todd, “Why us?” Todd said, “Why not us?”
I want to help you help people to be less afraid and make this world more welcoming for every baby.
This is not a political issue. Talks about partial birth abortion legislation. I call it like I see it – it’s killing a baby. If someone can believe otherwise, they’d have to be able to believe the earth is flat. Those politicians (who supported partial birth abortion) were either cold-hearted extremists or attached to the abortion lobby. One of them is now in the White House.
Ending a baby’s life isn’t health care and shouldn’t be part of health care reform. Representative Bart Stupak from Michigan is pushing hard to get Federal funding for abortion out of the health care reform bill.
They haven’t told us how we’re going to pay for this health care reform – this government takeover.
Pelosi must be held accountable…must let it come to a vote on Federal funding of abortion.
And we should ask ourselves, those who have this fundamental belief that a baby in the womb is not so special, then what are they thinking about the elderly?
Think about it, in order to save the government money, health care is going to have to be rationed…elderly will be first in line for rationed health care…utilitarian values…panel of health care bureaucrats making decisions about health care.
Selfless, ordinary men and women like you have been building the culture of life, brick by brick, life by life.
Earliest feminist women were pro life. (lists early feminists – Anthony, Stanton, etc). “Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women.” – Alice Paul quote.
The culture of life empowers women by offering them real choice.
Pope John Paul II…came to believe life is precious…(talks about how he witnessed atrocities of WWII) and that evil can only be overcome by love. He understood life is precious because it’s created in the image of god. Pope John Paul II Quote: “Building an authentic civilization of love must include a massive effort to educate consciences in the moral truths that sustain respect for life in the face of every threat against it.”
I believe if we walk the walk we will become a more blessed country and world.
We can’t look to the government to walk the walk. Don’t say, “Here government, take care of these people, take my money, raise my taxes.”
You know, life happens. Although not ideal, beautiful, cherished life can come from these circumstances. I know that now too.
Preciousness of every unborn child…sanctity of life. Help when the baby is born and care for our elders. That’s the change we need.
So, I say to you, come in from the edge if you feel you’re being pushed out. Know you’re not alone. Be bold. Be generous with your time, your donations, your energy.
And don’t ever let anyone tell you to sit down and shut up.”
The evening ended with a giant check presentation of $1,000 from Sarah to the Wisconsin Right to Life Education Fund. People were encouraged to fill out pledge form and match Sarah’s $1,000 donation to become a member of “Sarah’s Rogues” and receive an autographed copy of Going Rogue.
Driving back to Madison from Milwaukee, I asked my husband to transcribe my notes for me. Part-way through the first page, he groaned. I asked him what was wrong. “This is punishment,” he said. “It’s like I’m having to relive the whole thing all over again.”
************End of submission**************************
So she’s back at it with the rationed health care, and the rest of it. Death Panel Theatre strikes again.
And the Health Care bill that goes to the floor tomorrow will not have any federal money funding abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother’s life is at risk. Incidentally, the Hyde Amendment has been in place since 1976 providing that there will be no federal funding for abortions unless under the circumstances mentioned above.
The Hyde Amendment is reauthorized each year under appropriations bills for the Department of Labor and the Department of Health and Human Services. The current restrictive version of the Hyde Amendment does not provide coverage for abortions in cases of fetal abnormalities, or health exceptions apart from life-threatening conditions.
So there you have it.
Will we have a rogue video up on YouTube? (Did she really call the $1000 Club ”Sarah’s Rogues?”) Are they the same patent leather strappy red patent leather cork soled shoes we’ve come to know so well? Stay tuned for more.
And thanks again so much to our hardy team of Mudflatters in the field! We salute you. Any Mudflatters out there who are having your home turf turned into “Palin Country” and want to be a Boots on the Ground blogger, just email me at akmuckraker(at)yahoo(dot)com.

Mudflatter E,
Thanks for your efforts, HQ has been notified and there will be a bonus in your packet next week.
I was hoping she would reveal the secrets of holding her knees together for hours and hours while in labor on a jet.
When will the Palins or the Birthers et al learn that operatives are everywhere!
Mudflatter E, great report and thanks to you and your hubby for spending your precious time and money in a place you’d rather not have been, esp. on a Friday night.
The problem with these right to lifers is, they want to tell you that you can’t have an abortion and that every life is precious, no matter your circumstances, But the minute the baby is born, it’s no longer precious to them. They aren’t willing to raise their taxes to help all those babie get good schooling and medical care and become productive members of society. Ohhhh no. Once these babies are born, they want nothing to do with helping these “precious lives” reach their full potential. They don’t care what kind of squalor thes babies are born into, just as long as they are born. Then they’ll punish the mom for daring to be a single mom. they’ll badmouth her and her “welfare” babies.
Hypocrites is what they are.
Heartfelt thanks to Mudflatter E and hubby for taking on this task! Although she may have polished up her manner of speaking, she did nothing about her rhetoric, and was probably as boring as ever.
Did M/E get an estimated number in attendance?
Did it appear that many were pulling out their checkbooks and getting copies of her book?
I wonder if the group will make back even a small part of what they had to pay out to rent the hall, security, etc., plus Palin’s fee.
Although I am not in favor of abortion just *any old time*, I firmly believe it is a woman’s right and they need to keep their noses out of everyone’s business. Had the rightwingers been more willing for sex education to be taught in schools, and for birth control to be more readily available, and not have the hang-ups about sex in general………we might not be at such a point where abortion is so common.
She’s certainly going to play on the *rogue* until we all start gagging every time we see or read the word.
BTW – good catch on the headline! How many times did she refer to it as the Palin-McCain ticket during the campaign?
As ‘ stupid and ignorant ‘ as she was in her decision to use the word ‘ Rogue ‘
to describe herself…. she now wants everybody else to join ” The Stupid Club ” along with her.
And you know what…. Her people will be lining up to do it.
They really are proud of their ignorance. It must be contagious. She has infected them. Please stay far…. far away from me.
Sarah Palin is afraid to confront President Obama and accuse him of supporting partial-birth abortions to his face.
Why?
Because she is lying.
http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/blog/2008/09/25/nrlc-born-alive-obama-infant-protections-attacks
Nobody stood up and yelled “you lie”?
BRAVA Mudpup E and Hubby. What brave folks you are.
Mmmmhhh, makes ya wonder how many more might have been in that audience “under cover”… well, we will find out when the secret tapings turn up.
Thanks Mud-E and spouse for your sacrifice! I don’t know if I could stomach having to listen to her tripe in person (let alone paying for the privilege). I’m surprised she didn’t blame Obama for that “disturbing trend” on the gold coins.
The Sarah’s Rogues thing would put me over the edge for sure. How generous of Madame Rogue to donate $1,000 out of her $100,000 speakers fee, in honor of herself. I wonder what she’ll be charging for an autographed copy of her book at the book signings? Maybe she can collect for the legal defense fund there too also. I’m sure it could use some topping up.
Great notes by the way. Did you get any strange looks from people wondering why you were writing everything down?
Was it Frank Schaeffer who mentioned that intelligence is a sign of Satan to religious extremists? That it’s much better for believers to live in blissful ignorance so they can be better “sheep”? I’m sure I’m paraphrasing, but if so, Sarah’s handlers have been guiding her career perfectly from T-minus ten seconds–she’s like verbal crack to her followers and it’s only going to get worse, I fear. They’re hell-bent (no pun intended) on setting women back 100 years and increasing their ranks. And, IMHO, the $1000 donation seems a bit chinzy from today’s Tammy Faye.
I would love to know if any of these proud-n-loud, life-loving Roguebots would adopt an unwanted baby? Yeah–uh, huh . . .
Thanks, Mudflatter E, for taking one for the team! Sairy dear, please come to NY or PA–I’d love to be “Bootsie” on the ground and infiltrate the crowd!
Also surprised that Sarah’s goon squad wasn’t scanning the audience to see if anyone was writing anything down. Weren’t they supposed to confiscate sharp objects like pads, felt-tip pens and crayons at the door?
Thanks Mud E. Whew to you for sitting through!
Yes, the baby is precious until it’s born, then helping care for it is a sin.
She’s obviously nuts, what more can I say?
Isn’t it true that the abortions that are allowed, are only for first trimester fetuses? Gee whiz, how many women skip a period, and beknownst to them, they could have been a month pregnant. What about those “babies” ? Do they count, I mean, do we have to have memorial services or some honored bestowed for every miscarriage? I think one of the problems here is “marketing” – those right wingers took the motto- “pro-life” – and it quite effective. “Pro-choice” isn’t as compelling. The whole debate is so hypocritical, these are the same people who have no problem bombing innocent children in other countries. Michael Moore may be able to weigh in on this topic objectively/factually with a movie.
Thank you for attending. . . my stomach is flipping as I read this crazy crap ….and she’s still wearing the titles, like a pageant banner, oh wait, she doesn’t need titles. . . I’m gonna “go rogue” at CBS when I’m done here. . .
even as we see more and more crazeees “going rogue” in our great America. . . . .it has become acceptable to do the unthinkable…this is a very simple example as Snarah may say. . . I was in the local health food store and out of the corner of my eye, I saw another customer come in, I heard a pounding on a shelf near the store entrance, parallel to the register at which was the store owner. . . .next I heard the store owner say, without a word from this shelf pounding, customer, “I’ll have it in on Monday”…at hearing that the customer gave the owner a nasty look, turned on her heels and stomped out of the store. . .other customers were saying, “wtf was that ” the rudeness and nastiness that was apparently okay for this woman to bring into the store, without her uttering a word…the owner said “the crazees are out” and that more and more of this kind of craziness is happening every day in his little health food store, and it’s apparently “okay ” . …if people act like this over something small, you can bet your sweet bippee that they will “go more rogue” over other things…..like killing people who disagree with their opinion, yes by all means, “go rogue” no matter what else “go rogue” don’t ever let anyone tell you to sit down and shut up…do whatever you need to do to get your point across and yes,
“go rogue” let’s forget about all human life to get our point across. . . .
Very simply put “going rogue” has become acceptable over even minor things like a store not having something you want ….even if it’ll be in on Monday
With the glenny beckers of the world, rush baby rush Limbag, michele bachmann encouraging “going rogue” it’s okay to do or say anything you want. . . . .but I believe we have to speak up(obviously, it must be done with your safety in mind) and let others know it’s NOT okay to “go rogue” … and that sometimes you do have to “sit down and shut up” this may be something you learn in Public Speaking 101(Snarah probably failed this class…made several attempts to pass this class in her communications major but went “rogue” and never made it) and of course she isn’t part of the Harvard elite where they teach Public Discourse and where you learn to speak in civil manners and still get your point across. . . .
Plain and simple, Snarah is a COMMUNIST, yes I’m “going rogue” here, we can only do and say what is acceptable to her in her simple world, everything is so simple, black and white , simple, DO AS I SAY AND THE WORLD IS OKAY, THIS IS NOT COMMUNIST CHINA, AND YES, STAY OUT OF MY UTERUS, YOU COMMIE ! !
Thanks, I’m not sure I feel any better after “going rogue”. . off to work. . . I vow to stand up for one thing today, I’m not sure what will come my way. . .but I’m sure one of these “rogue” people will cross my path. . .
Yes, lack of education, lack of common decency and respect for all Americans whether you’re from the “real” America or not, these are just some of things Snarah wears on her pageant banner. . . . .
Compare and contrast:
http://www.conservatives4palin.com/2009/11/gov-palin-in-wi-dont-let-anyone-tell.html
(Full disclosure: I visit C4P for the same reason that CIA would watch to see who was in the reviewing stands (and where they were standing) for May Day parades in the Soviet Union and China.)
She pretty much says that a little baby boy is better than a little baby girl.
One reason some suffragists were opposed to abortion was that, at the time, it often resulted in infections, infertility and death of the mother.
I wish I quit her.

Mudflatter E & husband went above & beyond the call of duty! What a great report & what great fortitude. Far braver and way better at taking notes than me! Thank you both so much!
Thanks to Mudflatter E and wonderful Husband who took one for the team.
Im sorry it was so rough on you and hopefully your husband can purge the sound of that voice from his head.
Thanks for Going Rogue for us……
Thanks AKM-
Nasty as it is, we have to keep an ear out for what whatzername is up to…
And Mudflatter E and spouse-
Thank you . Don’t know what else to say that could come close to being enough for what you did… thank you.
Have I missed something here, along the way, – Sarah’s Rogues?
Have to admit I’ve been doing a lot of my reading about whatzername , as we work up to the book blitz, with one eye, peering through my hand across my eyes…
Sarah’s Rogues?
Lyin’ Sarah is forming another zombie pack?
Personally, I am pro-life. Yet, I had a dear friend who did had an abortion, so, I’ve seen both sides of the matter. But, over the years I have tried to understand what the true motives of these right-to-lifers really are. They talk about the sanctity of life, and the importance of a baby being our future, blah, blah, blah. Sounds so nice, but like posters have said, they care nothing for the quality of life for these babies.
If they cared for the continued quality of life, they’d be passionate about health care reform presented by President Obama, and wouldn’t block this bill. If they really cared about the millions of children, they’d support this immediately. The stress levels of the unemployed, displayed this week in Florida…..stress on people without health insurance, turns society into a depressed unproductive one. Families despair, and some who have no one to turn to are disregarded like old rags. Their babies are suffering because of the selfish greedy conservatives who don’t want their taxes raised an iota. Talk about christian.
This makes me so mad. And, Sarah like her crowd, would support the death penalty. That is so contradictive to “sanctity of life”. That criminal is still someone’s cherished son or daughter. What about forgiveness? Do these people really believe they are righteous in God’s eyes because they value life at birth but not at death? Hypocrites. And, what galls me is her quoting scripture…..the Spirit of truth. Her idea of truth is not scriptures truth. It says not to lie, cheat, steal, Sarah.
Arrrggh. I need an aspirin! LOL
WOW ! Great report !!..Your husband deserves a Special Thanks for having to go thru that speech so soon after hearing it !! I feel the need for asprin after just reading the report ! ….hhhmmm. She must be slipping tho’ – looks like she left out the standard line about the Great State of Alaska and being all Mavricky !! hehehhe!! and Todd, also too.
More mush from the Idiot, for the idiots.
Thanks to our spy for risking valuable brain cells on this mission!
How does she expect normal people to handle the enormous expense of disabled and special needs babies without healthcare reform?
If she really cared about women and babies she would be fighting for affordable access to healthcare for every American.
i be there are many families that terminated because they just couldn’t see how they could afford to quit jobs and/or hire daily care for a damaged child.
Unless she starts fighting for at least, a special healthcare fund for DS and other problem babiesm then she is a FRAUD.
Rebekka, you always say what I meant to say and then didn’t get there!
Rant on!
Sarah is you are pro-life, let’s talk about how we can care for babies and children who are already born…whose parents can’t afford child care, formula, diapers, food, and clothing. Oh, no wait, according to you are your ilk, that would be welfare.
$1.000?? That’s it form a woman who made over $1.5 mill so far this year, and is building a new Castle on the Lake? Let’s send all the pregnant teens In Alaska to Sarah’s!
Oh yes, in Scarah’s simple mind everything is simple. Of course.
Thanks for braving the event and crowd. You deserve a drink, shower and zen moments. I’m not sure I could sit through something like this without expressing my disgust, which would show I was a spy, lol.
Charlie Sykes: (Wisconsin’s answer to Rush Limbaugh)
Sarah Palin really needs no introduction. Want to test it? What’s the difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom? (crowd) Lipstick!
My guess:
“Most” Pitbulls are good with children?
This is going to sound really cold, buy having a down’s syndrom child is the best thing that happened to that woman…..politicially speaking. It’s almost too good to be an accident. She get’s to play out the part of the loving mother (cough, cough) and be the hero to her rabid fans.
Just saying………………
Gee, I wonder if my Congressman Stup[id]ak(D) is going to invite Ms. P.(R) for tea at C Street? Bet all the alums would show up, drooling. Time for another Dear I’m Paying Your Salary letter.
Metal detectors??? LOL!! Thats a little overboard…but here’s a hint for next time that will work in any “working class–blue collar” area of the country…go with a man and put it in HIS boot…just make sure he wears steel-toed work boots(yes there are parts of the country and wisc. is one of them, where many loggers, constr. workers, or miners wear them all the time..when it goes off by your feet..the guy just says..Oh I’ve got my steel-toed work boots on and they let you through…I will not divudge where my husband and I used this tactic, but it works
There are tens of thousand of people, including babies that die every year do to lack of affordable health care or an Insurance Corporation denying coverage. Under SCHIP Pres Obama has saved more lives than Sarah ever will. Citizens would have more say in a Gov run health care system, because we elect our Gov officials. The Insurance Corporation are immune from anti-trust laws and the citizens have no say in how this businesses run. If one has pre-exiting health problems, you can’t switch provider, as no other Insurer will cover you.
The Gov provides health care to all Native Alaskans. It is pretty good care! We didn’t hear her as Governor saying Native Alaskans receive poor or inadequate health care.
Freedom which $arah is so fond of, is not possible when others force his/her religious beliefs and faith on others. Freedom is a woman’s right to choose.
Ask Palin if the Gov has a right to limit gun ownership and use because of all the killings they cause, either intentional or accidental. And watch her head spin. By the way, it is pretty common for children to kill his/herself or a friend in AK, while playing with or misusing a gun.
Thanks to Mudflatter E & Spouse for keeping an eye on the quitter.
I hope to see a video soon of the part of her speech talking about the ultra sound she had when Trig was 12 weeks along. Riiight. Let’s just see how that one plays out in the future.
Metal detectors at the door!! Sheesh.. AKM was not far when she was joking about a pat-down before you entered the event. All that is pure projection, from that side of the political spectrum. As much as I hope SP is behind bars where she belongs, I wish the woman no physical harm.
Her whole “every life is precious” is pure hokum.
AKM, she wasn’t in Madison, she was in West Allis, a suburb of Milwaukee. Madison is a liberal college town and she would never speak there.
People were encouraged to fill out pledge form and match Sarah’s $1,000 donation to become a member of “Sarah’s Rogues” and receive an autographed copy of Going Rogue.
Well, that answers one question re: sales volume! SP is buying her own book in bulk, not to mention a few other groups.
Doesn’t she realize that by buying her book, she’s not going to net any money??? Even if she pays cost only, the out of pocket is netted against the ‘sale’ amount, leaving $0 income.
PS: to “E” and significant other – thanks for taking one for Team Mudflats! I have a headache reading your transcribed items. I can only imagine the eardrum ache you had listening to it live!
As a 20+ year special educator of multi-handicapped children, I saw first hand what having a special needs child does to some families. I can’t tell you how many of my students no longer lived with their bio parents. The number of students who lived with the Grandparents. The number of children who lived in Foster care. The number of students whose fathers were absent. The majority of Mothers were stressed out, depressed. Few had outside interests because of lack of time. It takes an enormous amount of time and energy to not only physically care for a special needs child, but to be their advocate. I have been privy to many many stories of the red tape and hoop jumping parents must do day in day out for the LIFE of their child. You have to develop tenecity to be a parent. Many people just can not cope. Several had nervous breakdowns, many were on medication. These are good people who love their children. Many have been honest and told me if they had of known what was in store for their child or themselves, they would have ended their pregnancies. Some of these children will never progress beyond the infant stage, will have to have painful therapies, numerous hospitalizations. I won’t even go into how much this costs.
I loved my job, the kids, and the parents. BUT, I could go home at the end of the day. It makes me livid to know there are people who want to take away the right to have an abortion. It is no ones business but yours
One correction AK – Palin was in the Milwaukee area last night – not Madison (which is the state capital and where Obama was in the last week). They are two quite different communities. While wingnuts are everywhere, I can’t see her going to Madison any time soon.
She gave $1000; gee, could she afford it??? That’s petty cash when you’re making six figures a speech, not to mention the book advance. Not really a sacrifice, was it, Paylin? She makes my skin crawl.
work on the catholic vote – check
Governor Palin spoke at length about the Pope, John Paul II. Pope John Paul II had a real passion for life. Wisconsin is pretty heavily Catholic and the crowd went nuts each time she referenced some of the passionate words the Pope spoke in on the issue of life.
I couldn’t read the whole thing. But I just want to say this to all of you mudflatters out there:
The so-called “partial birth abortion” that she rails against is something unfortunately I am familiar with. I belong to a website for women who have had abortions for medical reasons. We run the gamut. But late term abortions are very rare. And 99.9 percent of them happen because the fetus is very, very sick. And the reason that fetus is still in the womb at that late date is because he or she was a very, very wanted baby. The women who have late-term abortions agonize to make the decision that is right for them and the baby inside them. And what I hear again and again from these women is that they made the choice so that their babies wouldn’t suffer. Sarah Palin doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
I’ve said this many, many times: Life changing personal decisions are not the business of anyone other than those living them out.
Hey Sarah, how about you put your money where your mouth is. How about donating all of your book proceeds to feeding starving babies and children.
Just imagine how many lives could have been saved had she donated the money in her three lake front homes into feeding children.
Her tax form disclosures in the Presidential election, showed that Tod & her don’t do charitable donations.
So she’s a millionaire who is building a 2nd home , complete with turret and airplane hanger, but she only dontates $1K but THEN asks her middle class audience to pony up and match her donation ?? Classy , as always.
And it’s no wonder that her “marketing” businesses haven’t gotten off the ground. $’arah SUX with clever word play. “Rogue” was bad enough but “Sarah’s Rogues ” ??? Not only does it bring to mind a marauding band of zombie pirates ,hell bent on pillage and plunder, but it doesn’t exactly trip of the tongue, does it ?
Ok, and she did seem to be lobbing out the word “extremist” quite a bit, didn’t she? Gee. I wonder what the plan is there?
And the pregnancy story has changed, yet again. Can’t wait to hear how it ends up playing out in the book. I won’t be the least bit surprised if the story is now that the news of the Downs Syndrome was actually delivered to her by way of the Angel Gabriel.
Thank you Mudflatter E ( And Hub E !) . You’ve offered us really great insight. Sure hope you’re signed up for the Christmas Swap in the forum!
i have to go read this again. Part way through I slipped in to ” mental health scan ” mode. Had to start only reading every 2nd, 3rd word. She’s so very painful.
Brava to Mudflatter E and spouse! Being in Madison also, too, I had considered making the venture to West Allis to attend this word salad/speech, but don’t think that I could have kept my cool (or if forced to listen would have been puking in the aisles).
I am curious as to how many people shelled out the $30 fee to sit and listen to her nails-on-a-chalkboard screechy voice going on about this topic. I was also, too, hoping to hear that there were protesters outside … quite simply because protesting anything that Bible Spice Palin is for is something that I could get down with.
Mudflatter E and spouse, words cannot express my deepest condolences to you in this time of extraordinary service to your countrymen. How painful that must have been. Just reading it makes me lose my appetite. Well done, oh victorious Mudpuppy. Well done.
$P is a freak. Just sayin’.
OH! And I forgot the bit about the metal detectors. She and her Rogues are the very people who think it’s ok to come armed to town hall meetings and community picnics???
And as far as referencing the Pope – I can’t even believe that !!! What a blatant hypocrite! I’m not sure what the posting rules are about religious talk so I won’t get in to it but ARGH! How dare she sweet talk the Catholics when the group she’s with believes they are not a viable religion and are influenced by Satan. They think the Blessed Mother is demonic, for goodness sake.
And she kept forgetting that it’s “sit down and shut the EFF up”. The “eff” is very important.
Big thanks for going and reporting back. Hope you enjoyed some adult beverages and/or chocolate afterwords.
The problem with much of the anti-choice crowd is that they also want to ban many of the most effective means of birth control. The pill and IUD both work because they prevent a fertilized egg from implanting. So in their minds this is abortion. Last year they had a initiative on the ballot in CO and now the dark forces are trying to get a measure on the FL ballot.
Up until 1972 we did not have the absolute right in all states to get birth control if unmarried. No I’m not making this up if you’re younger. For more on this history of birth control and contraceptive devices read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griswold_v._Connecticut
I think that the national conversation needs a new direction. That direction should be how do we make sure everyone who wants birth control has access. If everyone, including teenagers, has easy access to effective birth control then there would be much less need for abortion.
I think that Progressive women need to remind everyone of how hard it can be to get pregnancy prevention devices. Most men are still unaware that health insurance does not pay for prescription methods. I wonder if the Public Option will? Or have the anti-choicers forced this out?
OK, a little google and I’ve answered my own question.
From The Nation:
http://www.thenation.com/doc/20091116/lerner
“Yet the voting on the amendment went exactly along pro- and anti-choice lines. The amendment passed by just one vote, with all the committee’s Republicans as well as Pennsylvania Senator Robert Casey, an anti-abortion Democrat, voting against it. The committee’s discussion of the amendment was dominated by Republicans’ worry about the possibility of government money winding up in the hands of Planned Parenthood. Since there is no similar language included in the just-released House bill, the only hope for requiring full coverage for these essential services now lies with the Senate.
While some within the anti-abortion movement have long opposed birth control, there is still widespread support for it among the general public, with virtually all women of childbearing age who have had sex using contraception. So why would senators treat birth control and other basic women’s health services as a proxy for abortion? “People equate family planning services with Planned Parenthood, and they equate Planned Parenthood with abortion,” says Adam Sonfield, an expert on funding for reproductive health services at the Guttmacher Institute. The senators who turned Mikulski’s language into a referendum on abortion “either misunderstood or purposely distorted the amendment.”
Either way, the irony of letting anti-abortion sentiment undercut the coverage of birth control is that it will likely lead to more abortions.”
It’s time for a new PR campaign on Family Planning to make sure folks understand the real issue is not abortion but access to contraception for all.
Mudflatter E and hubby are very, very brave souls indeed I wouldn’t have made it to the car just thinking about having to listen to that bs. You guys should have passed out adoption papers and sat back and listened to the moans and groans coming from the pro lifers then Or better yet give them a list of orphanages and foster families in the area and invite them to visit the children that nobody wants. Fat chance that would ever happen. Conservatives and reality do not go hand in hand.

What this tells me is that they didn’t make quite enough money from the sale of seats to cover their costs, including being short on their fees to $P. So she decided to take a cut in fee (99,000) and turn that into a fundraising tool so that she would get at least that much.
I think the Hockey Mom doth “project” too much. We certianly know we can elect good and bad, competent and the incompetent. Sometimes, we don’t what we thought we were voting for.
Why would she ever think our Gov intentionally kill citizens? Could it be that as Gov, she did nothing to help rural Alaskans, as their children were starving and freezing, while the State sat of over $ 50 billion in the bank? When asked what she personally or officially as Gov had done to help rural Alaskans, she refused to answer. As far as we know, all she did was hand out a batch of Sarah cookies.
(((((JRC))))))) You are very brave and I am so sorry for the tragic events you experienced.
thank you for your efforts. there is no way I could have sat through that without slitting my wrists.
I’ve had a weird feeling lately when hearing/seeing the wacko politicians and teabaggers. I feel like I am being transported back in time, or to another time. they just don’t seem to be relevant in today’s world.
I have always had a very simple philosophy towards abortion.
If you do not believe in abortion, don’t have one. Why is this so
difficult for the anti-choice crowd to comprehend?
In the book “Freakonomics” by Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt
they have an interesting theory on the decline of crime nationally
in the 90′s. They believe it was because abortion became legal
in 1973.
Talk about inflaming the Whack-A-Doodles!
DD
Oh my goodness, E & ESpouse, I hope you have plenty of brain bleach on hand to cleanse your grey matter after polluting it with XINO’s mavericky word salad.
THANKS for taking one for the team!!
These ‘pro-life’ idiots who are against health care reform infuriate me. They care not one bit for ‘lives’ outside the womb! Just get them born, and then they can live in poverty and die for lack of access to medical care. The hypocrisy is SICKENING!
So after all that, she donates a measly GRAND? Un-flipping-believable. Thanks, MudflatterE and hubby for your efforts. The only way I could have survived it was with a generous supply of Immodium-AD in a boda bag…..
Isn’t early amniocentesis associated with higher risk of spontaneous abortion? In fact, isn’t amniocentesis in general risky? Why would someone who believes abortion is murder do such a thing?
I love how these people can sit around and decry government money for abortions, but they support using government money for our “heroes” to kill people on the other side of the world.
if babies really were as special as they claim, they would be opposed to war as well, because war kills babies. such double standards.
A fan from CA Says:
The pill and IUD both work because they prevent a fertilized egg from implanting.
WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/index.htm
This is directly from the Planned Parenthood link above:
How Do Birth Control Pills Work?
It’s pretty common for people to be confused about how birth control pills work. Here’s what it boils down to: birth control pills are made of hormones. Hormones are chemicals made in our bodies. They control how different parts of our bodies work.
Some birth control pills contain two hormones — estrogen and progestin. These are called combination pills. Some are progestin-only pills. Most women on the pill take combination pills.
The hormones in the pill work by keeping a woman’s ovaries from releasing eggs — ovulation. Pregnancy cannot happen if there is no egg to join with sperm. The hormones in the pill also prevent pregnancy by thickening a woman’s cervical mucus. The mucus blocks sperm and keeps it from joining with an egg.
The hormones also thin the lining of the uterus. In theory, this could prevent pregnancy by keeping a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus.
This is how an IUD works, from the same website:
How Does an IUD Work?
Both the ParaGard and the Mirena IUDs affect the way sperm move, preventing them from joining with an egg. If sperm cannot join with an egg, pregnancy cannot happen. Both types also alter the lining of the uterus. Some people say that this keeps a fertilized egg from attaching to the lining of the uterus. But there is no proof that this actually happens.
The progestin in the Mirena IUD helps prevent pregnancy. Progestin works by keeping a woman’s ovaries from releasing eggs — ovulation. Pregnancy cannot happen if there is no egg to join with sperm. Progestin also prevents pregnancy by thickening a woman’s cervical mucus. The mucus blocks sperm and keeps it from joining with an egg.
Slightly OT, but since Quittypants brought it up , I hope ALL Mudflatters are calling their Congresspeople today to demand they pass the health care reform bill!

They need to hear from us and not just the lunatic teabaggers and Palinistas.
Ms. Winky Doesn’t want the stuff she says recorded so that she can refute it later. Maybe someone can post to Oprah about her many different versions of her Pregnancy with(?) Trig. Ask if Toad did or did not know as she stated before. If Oprah won’t then Barbara will. She may walk off the stage.
I used to work as a child protective caseworker, and I can tell you there are MANY, MANY children in foster care who came from horrible home situations. Until each and every person who advocates banning abortions is willing to adopt a child, and care for that child year after year, no matter what–then NO ONE has the right to dictate whether a woman should be forced to have a baby. It’s as simple as that.
Can I ask what seems an obvious question on the whole pro-life thing?
If these conservatives are all hysterical about government growth and intervention in our daily lives… WHY is is OK, even demanded, that the government to intervene in someone’s womb?
Does anyone point out this contradiction to those waving a ‘Socialism is Evil’ sign in one hand and a ‘Make Abortion Illegal’ sign in the other?
oh feck!
Pro life and pro death penalty, also, too?
More evidence that Palin doesn’t know what she’s talking about when it comes to partial-birth abortion and President Obama. When I first heard about this last year, I did some digging and found that it refers to his vote on a bill introduced in the Illinois State Legislature. Obama voted the way he did because the bill, as it was written, would have created a conflict with Roe v. Wade. Palin must not have anyone on her staff who is capable of fully researching a topic. I noticed the same thing happened when McCain/Palin brought up the issue of Obama voting present on some issues in the Illinois State Legislature instead of casting a vote. All it means is that an Illinois legislator makes a choice to not impede a bill moving through the legislature and needs more time to consider his/her vote. They tried to make it seem as if Obama was shirking his duties/responsibilities in making decisions, and paint him as being indecisive and a coward, unable to answer that 3:00 AM call, which had nothing to do with the issue. Just because Palin doesn’t know (or care to know) what a particular state legislature’s procedural rules are doesn’t give her license to lie and smear the president, but of course, I’m talking about Palin, and she has never met a lie that she wouldn’t tell to make herself look good.
I wish these folks would spend their energy toward PREVENTING the problem of teen pregnancy of which s’arah knows first hand, instead of being totally hypocrital on gov’t health care except when it comes to abortion.
This is all she has? A hollow turret on a dead lake.
Same old same old. She certainly is a one trick pony. A THOUSAND DOLLAR CHECK FROM SARAH….WOW!
I have to say, Sarah gives WAAAAY too much information. First we had to hear about her “leaking fluids” and picture that whole thing. Now we know all about her gyno appt. and amnio details. It’s a sign of deceit when someone gives unnecessary detail to prove they are truthful, but she also seems to show some kind of weird personal boundary issues. Meanwhile, those of us who did not remain pregnant under, as she pronounces it, “less than eye-dill circumstances”, are supposed to remain silent and ashamed. Put a lid on it, Sarah.
emrysa, AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess they are only concerned about “good ol’ American babies”. It seems they believe that babies in other countries that are killed in war are not
“God’s children” anyway, so big deal.
Disgusting hypocrites.
Suzi, you are so right. Conservatives want “less government” unless it has to do with what people do in the privacy of their bedroom. They are obsessed with gay rights and taking away women’s rights.
They don’t want government help for sick or hungry children (no socialism, right?) but they want Big Brother to peer into our bedroom windows and control our sex lives.
Suzy, I’ve wondered the same thing. It seems like a RAGING inconsistency with their platform, doesn’t it? If not outright hypocrisy.
But, given that many of these same people also put great stock in the Bible -a book riddled with holes of logic big enough that you could drive a Buick through them- I think inconsistency and hypocrisy are things they are very comfortable with.
“The culture of life empowers women by offering them real choice.”
What is she talking about? The choice between a vaginal birth or a C-section?
Also, I like how she continues to state that she and Bristol made the right choice about having their babies in the very speech that glorifies taking that choice away from everyone else. What is wrong with her??
For the sake of all the babies- and all of us, call your Congressfolks. Thanks for the link for the Capital Switchboard, but it’s been busy (at least for me.) Quick way to find all gov’t phone numbers- http://www.usa.gov
My guy Baird said this AM he is voting no. I have been calling and writing. His reasoning is based on not seeing the CBO report on this.
I am listening to MSNBC and when did this turn into “all about abortion” again? Is that why Sarah decided to speak and actually show up? How un-Christian to not do whatever you can for the least of your brothers. How can self-professed Christians NOT want to help people, but work so hard to protect companies.
Thanks Mudflatter E and partner in crime for attending. Fired me up even more. Back to the phone calling…
It wouldn’t be surprising if she is working towards a higher calling…. to be chosen to be the next Pope.
Of course everything that $arah does is ‘ hypocritical ‘ but one point that
these new found ‘ rogues’ oh her’s may fail to realize is this.
Sarah gave $1000 to their cause. That $1000 probably was paid by or through SarahPac. So in reality she gave then a $1000 of THEIR money back to them and then turned around and asked them to donate MORE like her.
In ‘ Grifter 101′ I think this is called ” seed money ” to get the Marks wallets open and to gain their trust.
And as any Grifter will…. adds that little touch of guilt into the equation to make them feel bad if they don’t. You are not a good person if you don’t follow my lead. She is good at ONE thing…. being a Grifter. Everything else… not so much.
My rep is voting No. I have sent a furious email and phone call stating that he will certainly NOT be getting another vote from me! Oh, I am so angry! I’ve called and emailed so much I was starting to think we were BFF. What an insult. He lists all the reasons he can’t vote for this bill but all the reasons he lists are already in the bill! And the CBO says it will save money in the long run. What a wuss. Do I understand this?
While I was at it, I wrote to Dede Scozzafava and thanked her for having the courage of her convictions and putting the welfare of her constituents over political ideology! Good woman. I hope to hear more from her in the future.
Someone help me if they know the details: Sarah did an interview after being tapped for (I think) Lady’s Home Journal which she said that when she was told she was carrying a Down’s baby, she contemplated terminating the pregnancy! Yes, she admitted that she reviewed her legal, rightful CHOICES, like every woman should be able to.
That article and her quotes need to be revealed every time she spouts her BS. If she were such a purist pro-lifer, she would not have considered any option besides life.
Also, when was Trig born? Although I think he’s probably Sarah’s just because women over 40 are at higher risk for Downs, could her secrecy have been because Trig is not Todd’s? Was he off IronDogging or Fishing when Sarah got pregnant and did she try to hide it for so long to confuse everyone on the timelines? Just sayin’….
Oh and to add to my earlier comment, cynical though it sounds, those “giant” cheques are not real. They are just props. Wonder if she remembered to write a real one?
And big thanks to Mud-E and Mr. E!
Two brave souls entered the gate of he’ll and paid to hear her shrilly voice.
They deserve a big hug, a nice hot sweat for mental wonders and a bit of humor for their wonderful souls…

How about right to life AFTER one is born, especially if it is in another country that we’re taking families lives away from…most right to lifers are the ultimate hypocrits who advocate for right to life and then drop interest at birth, for health, education and a decent living. And how ’bout the right to life of other creatures? Polar Bears and Walrus and Whales should count for something too…but NOOOO….ultimately these people, through their ignorance, worship at the throne of a death culture.
Great Work – Mudflatter E & partner
MsQuitty is very lucky she doesn’t live in the real world and have to face real life problems. She has had some type of health insurance her entire life. She has had a very supportive family. She has not struggled with buying food or paying the heating bill because she’s only making min. wage. Bet she’s never had her utilities cut off for non-payment, and then they want a $400-700 deposit before turning them back on.

Wow, Mudflatter E & E-Spouse both deserve a medal! What agony it must have been to listen to that. Thanks for the report! Aside from the point someone here made that the $1000 “contribution” was probably really SarahPac $$, if she believes SO strongly about this, wouldn’t you think it would be worth it to her to fork over a lot more than just $1000? The sad thing is, there were probably several people there who don’t have much $$ who DID actually fork over contributions of their own because “Sarah told them to.” Probably people who have children that could have benefitted from it a lot more for things like, oh, I don’t know, say clothing and food to name a couple. Of course, Sarah knows this and counts on it as she clicks her heels together and heads back to the “compound.” Pathetic.
People want to be Right-To-Life, fine. But this unrelenting daily onslaught of presidential back-seat-driving is driving me bananas.
Can they not have a meeting and discuss the business of stopping abortions, without calling up the name of the President of the United States?
It seems to me that this country used to go about its business, while the president and policy makers went about their business. If you had an issue, you took it up, you made an effort, you went to Washington.
Now, if sales are down – it’s the goverment’s fault. If interest rates change – it’s the president’s fault. If inflation is a problem – it’s Congress’s fault. If your new car is a lemon – the government should do something. Somebody, somewhere, is supposed to help you with your naughty kid. Isn’t the school supposed to do something?
We’ve become a country of armchair quarterbacks, when none of us actually play football.
So you Wisconsin folks, and all the other anti-abortion folks, here’s the deal. Get into the trenches. Focus on your group of people. Stop abortions from happening in your family, your church, your teenagers.
At the next meeting, and tomorrow at church, look to your left and look to your right. See all the women and teenage girls? Got a husband and a teenage boy? One in five, folks. That’s right. IN YOUR group.
Those women sitting in that meeting know dirty secrets; they had a secret abortion last year, Sally had one 5 years ago, Mary drove her daughter to Minneapolis last month.
Offer real resources to those people. Get invested. Provide food, shelter, transportation, and education to YOUR people that are pregnant. Long-term. Each of those mommas and each of the subsequent offspring need to be provided for, for at least the next 18 years. That’s gonna take a lot of resources. Don’t hand them a government form for welfare – YOU do it.
Start with paying the hospital bill for each of those unwanted pregnancies when they give birth. Don’t ask the goverment to – you write the checks.
Who they are, lifestyle choices, ethnicity, doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter if you like them or think they’re worthy. Right?
Get over there and start paying the bills. Right now. Today. Then, when you’ve got all the needs in your own group covered, you can start on mine.
Sarah, I think it’s going to take more than $1,000.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH and, SHUT UP
“Thank you for protecting FREEDOM OF SPEECH and public education efforts to reduce abortion.
Thanks for walking the walk and not just talking about it.
Those who believed in the sanctity of life were told to Sit down and

I am dubious about the ultrasound being able at 12 weeks to determine “boy parts”.
If I remember correctly, you can’t really tell until about 16 weeks. Am I wrong?
AKM, it was held in West Allis, suburb of Milwaukee, not in Madison. An hour and a half away if you speed, two hours if you don’t.
Politico was there also, too. Here’s from their report:
…..In addition to the suggestion that government officials would consider hastening the death of the infirm or handicapped, she began her remarks with a puzzling commentary on the design of newly minted dollar coints.
Noting that there had been a lot of “change” of late, Palin recalled a recent conversation with a friend about how the phrase “In God We Trust” had been moved to the edge of the new coins.
“Who calls a shot like that?” she demanded. “Who makes a decision like that?”
She added: “It’s a disturbing trend.”
Unsaid but implied was that the new Democratic White House was behind such a move to secularize the nation’s currency.
But the new coins – concerns over which apparently stemmed from an email chain letter widely circulated among conservatives – were commissioned by the Republican-led Congress in 2005 and approved by President Bush……

$arah gave a measly $1,000? Pathetic. She is raking in millions and this is her platform…..$1,000? Chump change to her. I am sure it came out of one of her funds, you know “other people’s money.”
As for the early amnio , Dr. Cathy Baldwin Johnson does not seem to be the sharpest tack on the wall. Why would she risk the life of that baby by doing it so early? Later, she does not tell $arah to go to an emergency room after her water broke in Texas? Reckless, to say the least.
Pro children and pro babies.
But not so much pro teens or pro adults.
And you better be a healthy baby and a healthy child because the GOP does is cutting back on any sort of health care support from the government.
And if you’re a teen or adult you better be damned healthy and stay that way.
Oh yes. And it wouldn’t hurt to be white, male and have lots of money.
Seagull Junker Palin…I just read the Politico post. The “coin” reference is not only nutty, I can’t figure out why she was yapping about it in a right to life speech?
Her constant reference to elderly people losing their lives because of health care reform is beyond irresponsible–it’s too bad a lawsuit couldn’t be brought against her for her slanderous outbursts. She would have been right up there with Reagan when he opposed the passage of Medicare but now she and the GOP are acting like they are the great saviors of care for the elderly! The hypocrisy is amazing.
This is a very informative thread. Thank you AKM and all posters! I actually learned something about IUDs and late-term abortions.

As others have stated, my response to these pro-life fanatics (not the reasonable pro-lifers who see the gray between the black and white), is: 1) offer to adopt unwanted children/babies, and 2) support children’s needs: medical, education, food and shelter, if you’re so darned “pro-life”… oh and working for peace instead of marching to war would help, too. Unfortunately these fanatics don’t see or want to see the whole picture. One wonders what happened to their brains and the reasoning power it should enable.

andrew sullivan did sort of a “series” a few months ago where he published letters from people who had to make the decision whether or not to have a late-term abortion because of health reasons. it was very interesting to read from people who actually had this experience.
it definitely shows how those people who rail on late term abortions know nothing of what they’re talking about. they always try to make it out like this is some casual decision, that someone was lazy and waited too long to get an abortion. so far from the truth. so far.

Some thoughts on maverick and rogue.
In Sarah’s mind, they’re the same thing.
She’s stopped using maverick because of it’s association with John McCain.
She needed another trademark. Hence the rogue. She’s embracing a new label and she’ll define it however she wishes. And she’s trying to define it as “maverick” but not that old white loser from Arizona.
How unfortunate for her that so early in her campaign it’s been twisted into rouge. And even Faux Noise mistook Going Rouge for Going Rogue.
So we need to keep hammering at the rogue to prevent it’s definition from being twisted to Sarah’s purpose.
I’m sure David Letterman will be doing his part.
Sorry if I missed it above, but out of curiosity, the hall’s advertised capacity is 5,400. How full was the hall?
Molly @78–I also, too seem to recall that “boy parts” aren’t visible at 12 weeks. Can anyone with a medical background confirm that ?
Regarding SP’s new and different remarks about her alleged ultrasound (really? HERS? Not someone else’s who has the initials BP?), particularly the part about where the tech said something about “the baby’s neck being thicker than usual” — directly to Palin, if we are to believe SP.
(I crossposted this at Palingates and IM, also)
I know a lot of us have had various x-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, etc. — and in NONE of those exams will the tech actually doing the procedure say anything about the results IF THEY’RE ANYTHING BUT BLESSEDLY NORMAL…and even then, if all looks “normal”, most are cautious about what they say, if they say anything at all.
My experience has been, even back in the days before HIPAA, that not only will the tech not say anything, she/he will say a definitive report won’t be available until the specialist/radiologist reviews the scan/x-ray etc., and dictates his report. But the specialist doesn’t report to YOU, the patient.
The report goes to your personal health care provider (doctor, nurse practitioner), who THEN either calls you and reports the good news, or calls you to make an appointment to discuss the not-normal news.
SP is so full of sh!t. And her devoted followers are so stupid, they believe anything she says, even if it’s so far beyond the pale of proper HIPAA restrictions and medical care, that the tech who administered her alleged ultrasound should be fired, and prosecuted.
OK. I just read this post and went over to check out Crooks and Liars and what did I see? A Video mash-up of the GOP objecting to the comments of 40 Democratic women in Congress trying to get their voices heard. Essentially telling these women to sit down and shut up…
Which I thought was incredibly ironic that I had just read the Sarah Palin had just told a group of right to lifers NOT to sit down and shut up.
Too bad that they cannot afford the Women in Congress the same courtesy.
tallimat @69–Help us understand what life is like in Wasilla. Why is it dangerous to speak up? It’s hard for us to understand the dynamics.
haha–SP said NOT to sit down and shut up! so please Wasilla and Palmer, please stand up and speak out.
No-one has mentioned dear, precious, Trig and who is raising him. I don’t think its Sarah.
It looks like $arah wants to expand Her ” Rogues’ Gallery ” and the word has caught on. Of course… not in a good way.
Remember that story about the Rep. from Illinois that NOW wants SP’s endorsement. His GOP challenger has come up with a commercial using his own words… AND $arah’s to be used against Him.
Called….”Mark Kirk Going Rogue…on Himself.”
The Huffpo story pointed out that both the Left and the Right are attacking Kirk about his ‘ Flip-Flops ‘.
Keep up the ” rogue act ” $arah… it’s working great. Go ahead and paint it across the side of that Tour Bus you have lined up as well…..
” Go Rogue “….. and don’t ” Go Greyhound “.

LisanX-In reference to why people are afraid to speak up here….Palin was widely known for her vindictivness…cross her and she would fire you and demote you or trash your reputation. Unfortunately our new Governor did not replace any of her Commissioners, so those same thugs are all still in place.
“As for $arah talking about the new gold coin where “In God We Trust” has been moved over to the side, and implying the Obama administration did this…..actually this was a decision the Congress decided on in 2005……under GEORGE BUSH. $arah , sweetie, you need to do your homework. You are so great at re-writing history. Too bad for you, we are all watching now.
12 weeks Really, Sarah, you need to stop sayin’ that – you’re giving yourself away.
No, amnio isn’t done at 12 weeks. CVS is. Ultrasound is. Ultrasound in early pregnancy is typically done for DATING, not identifying birth defects. Or “boy parts”.
Trisomies are routinely screened for with a blood test that reveals markers, which in turn leads to CVS/amniocentesis for a confirmed diagnosis and assessment of medical status and risk.
The significance of 12 weeks – terminating a pregnancy in Alaska is legal up to 12 weeks. Then, no go. No abortion. It’s a dead giveaway that Sarah was planning for an abortion.
Wisconsin has outlawed abortion.
Wisconsin law declares that a fetus is a human being from the time of conception, and described abortion as a procedure meant to “kill a child”. The vague wording of the law could be applied to most abortion procedures. There is no exception for the health of the woman. The exception to save the woman’s life requires that “there is no other medical procedure that would suffice for that purpose”. Even if an abortion was the best medical choice to save a woman’s life, a doctor could not choose it if there was any alternative, even a less effective one. The law is called the “1997 Wisconsin Act 219″.
~~~
Alaska Abortion Ban
AFTER 12 WEEKS
Alaska’s unconstitutional and unenforceable ban outlaws abortions performed as early as twelve weeks. Alaska Stat. § 18.16.050 (Enacted 1997).
A court held that Alaska’s ban is unconstitutional under the state constitution because the ban is “void for vagueness” and has issued a permanent injunction prohibiting its enforcement. Planned Parenthood of Alaska, Inc. v. State, No. 3AN-97 6019 CIV (Alaska Super. Ct. Mar. 13, 1998), appeal dismissed, No. S-08610 (Alaska July 17, 2000). The U.S. Supreme Court held that a similar ban that lacks an exception to protect a woman’s health and that bans more than one procedure places an undue burden on a woman’s right to choose and is unconstitutional. Stenberg v. Carhart, 530 U.S. 914 (2000).
Alaska’s unconstitutional and unenforceable ban makes the performance of any abortion procedure that falls within a broad definition a felony, unless it is necessary to preserve the life of a woman endangered by a physical disorder, illness, or injury and no other medical procedure will suffice. Alaska Stat. § 18.16.050 (Enacted 1997).
There is also a Federal Abortion Ban, which applies nationwide regardless of state law. The federal ban prohibits the performance of certain second trimester abortions and does not contain an exception for a woman’s health. In April 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the ban, making it the first time since Roe v. Wade that the Court has upheld a ban on a previability abortion procedure.
… abd i thank you, emrysa@50:
If she didn’t say she knew at 12 weeks when abortion was still legal in Alaska, her story about CHOICE wouldn’t fly as well, if she were past the point of choice. But I guess she could go to Seattle or somewhere else, like NYC?
I wonder if the Shakespearean phrase applies here, Me thinks she doth protest too much. Maybe she DID have an abortion and that is why the clue we got was something about Tripp was Trig before he was Tripp?
I was pg at 44 and I had a CVS test at 11 weeks because we were one of the 90% of couples who terminate a DS fetus, so I wanted to know ASAP.
If you would never consider terminating, then you would wait until amnio is safest, after 16 weeks.
CVS is the least safe, still safe with a very experienced doctor and it does take a specialist, you do not let some doctor, like CBJ do this. I went to the guy who perfected the procedure, but I live in NYC so that was easy to find.
Some people defy odds on some things, but she defies the odds on everything about her baby story:
12 weeks Really, Sarah, you need to stop sayin’ that – you’re giving yourself away.
______
That’s an excellent point. Most states that allow abortion on demand have made the cut-off time at 12 weeks. She was allegedly traveling in another state when she considered an abortion b/c ‘no one’ knew her there… wonder which state that was??
Somebody needs to ask sarah and co who will pay for all these babies and future children if all women were made to carry all these babies to term and then put up for adoption.
Because don’t you think that at least 1/2 these women would opt for adoption?
How many of us know women who have made this difficult choice?
I know 4, and they had abortions because the fetus had conditions that were incompatible with life.
$1000.00 was all that palin could contribute. Wow. From a wealthy person who is getting millions.
I guess she does not put her money where her mouth is.
Has it occured to anybody that the 12 week ultrasound, it’s VERY difficult to ‘read’ the sex of the baby? Even at 18 weeks it’s not yet a certainty….
Well, she was in Louisiana. Where it’s a crime to perform abortions.
Louisiana Abortion law
LA R.S. 14:87A. (1) Abortion is the performance of any of the following acts, with the specific intent of terminating a pregnancy:
(a) Administering or prescribing any drug, potion, medicine or any other substance to a female; or
(b) Using any instrument or external force whatsoever on a female.
(2) This Section shall not apply to the female who has an abortion.
B. It shall not be unlawful for a physician to perform any of the acts described in Subsection A of this Section if performed under the following circumstances:
(1) The physician terminates the pregnancy in order to preserve the life or health of the unborn child or to remove a stillborn child.
(2) The physician terminates a pregnancy for the express purpose of saving the life, preventing the permanent impairment of a life sustaining organ or organs, or to prevent a substantial risk of death of the mother.
(3) The physician terminates a pregnancy by performing a medical procedure necessary in reasonable medical judgment to prevent the death or substantial risk of death due to a physical condition, or to prevent the serious, permanent impairment of a life-sustaining organ of a pregnant woman.
C. As used in this Section, the following words and phrases are defined as follows:
(1) ‘Physician” means any person licensed to practice medicine in this state.
(2) ‘Unborn child” means the unborn offspring of human beings from the moment of fertilization until birth.
D. (1) Whoever commits the crime of abortion shall be imprisoned at hard labor for not less than one nor more than ten years and shall be fined not less than ten thousand dollars nor more than one hundred thousand dollars.
(2) This penalty shall not apply to the female who has an abortion.
Updated June 2009
• In Louisiana, 85,700 of the 973,799 women of reproductive age became pregnant in 2005. 71% of these pregnancies resulted in live births and 13% in induced abortions.
Yeah, I know…right? Not against the law to terminate a pregancy; just to provide services. Clearly, a bunch of Louisiana woman ARE getting pregnant and having abortions.
Wisconsin apparently has a few of its good God-fearing women making a run for the Illinois border:
• In Wisconsin, 96,000 of the 1,150,450 women of reproductive age became pregnant in 2005. 74% of these pregnancies resulted in live births and 10% in induced abortions.
• Abortions in Wisconsin represent 0.8 of all abortions in the United States.
~Even though the problem of unwanted pregnancies in Wisconsin has been solved by outlawing abortion?
Oh my.
I found out some interesting factoids about the $1 gold coin that so bothered SP, specifically her comment about “In God We Trust” being relegated to the rim of the coin.
#1. There are SEVERAL $1 gold coins. The ones she’s complaining about are a minting celebrating the Presidents. The first release of 4 Presidential coins occurred in 2007 (Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison).
http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/$1coin/
and http://www.usmint.gov/downloads/mint_programs/mailer.pdf
#2. The “In God We Trust” on the Sacajawea “Native American” $1 gold coin is the same size as on other types of U.S. coins. It’s on the left side, “behind” the relief of Sacajawea and her baby pictured.
Much ado about nothing = a typical MO for the Quitter.
Mudflatter E and hubby, You did an exceptional job!
Sykes: “Sara Palin chose life, chose to stand up, which made her enemies.”
Jeepers! (And they know absolutely that Prejean lost the Miss USA crown because she opposes gay rights.) So begins the evening of the persecuted, their delusions, disengagement from logic and misrepresentations. Almost every sentence from Sarah’s mouth makes my head spin. Oh, wait a minute (recalling words AKM put in bold font).
Palin: “When I say “simple terms” those on the other side, their heads start spinning…”
Sarah, Simple words do not make my head spin when put together to form logical thought. And I don’t hate you and I’m glad Trig is in the world. You, however, are a quitter, a liar and word-spinner. Of course, I wish you would sit down and shut up with the lies and advocacy for laws that take away civil rights. When you propose something or support something that would actually help solve some problems, I’d be cheering.
#27 Trisha – Hopefully some day, the degree of coldness will be factually confirmed or debunked.
It is striking that Palin seems to have changed the pregnancy story…introducing her ultrasound and distancing from the amnio. And still, she exalts herself with her CHOICE.
Off to call my Repub., no-voting congressman, again.
@79 Seagull Junker Palin
The whining about the placement of In God We Trust on coins is beyond misguided: that phrase only appeared sporadically on coins since the Civil War and wasn’t allowed on paper money until 1957 and it took until the mid60s before it was the norm in printing. So the vast majority of the money in circulation when Palin was born did not have the phrase. Thus for almost 200 years, most of our money was religion free, but Sarah claims that that phrase is the basis of our country.
Yeah, right. (it only got put on then b/c some people felt the need to further differentiate the US from the communist, atheist USSR…much the addition of “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance)
A fan from CA Says:
The pill and IUD both work because they prevent a fertilized egg from implanting.
WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not altogether wrong:
The hormones in birth control pills combine to prevent the body from releasing an egg.
Should an egg be released, the progesterone makes it difficult for the egg to travel down the fallopian tube, and also alters the uterine lining to prevent implantation in the unlikely event of fertilization.
In addition, progesterone thickens cervical mucus, so that sperm have difficulty navigating.
The combination of estrogen and progesterone make pregnancy a challenge, although it can happen.
IUDs or intrauterine devices are a type of birth control method with a high rate of success in preventing unwanted pregnancies.
There are two types present on the market, the standard IUDS are T-shaped devices covered with coiled copper that are inserted directly into the uterus.
The insertion process means dilating the cervix, in a doctor’s office, so that the device can be fitted into the uterus.
It can be an uncomfortable procedure, producing heavier periods thereafter, and runs some risk of pelvic inflammatory disease and of infection. This risk is minimal, and most women tolerate IUDs very well. They are very popular forms of birth control in European countries and in China.
The second type of IUD is sometimes called an intrauterine system or IUS.
The blockage mechanism is approximately the same but the device also releases a steady flow of progestin, which helps to chemically lower chances of pregnancy.
It tends to reduce frequency, length, and heaviness of periods, in contrast to standard or inert IUDs. It does have greater side effect factors and warnings that apply to taking any type of hormonal birth control equally apply to IUDs of this type.
With the first type of IUD, after insertion into the uterus, the presence of the copper around the IUD frame acts as a natural spermicide.
Additionally, IUDs cause the uterus to produce white blood cells (leukocytes), and prostaglandins within the uterus.
These make the uterine environment hostile to sperm and eggs, greatly reducing potential pregnancy.
Over the lifetime of the inert IUD, usually five to ten years, total risk for becoming pregnant is approximately 4%, though for most, there is only a 1% chance of becoming pregnant.
There is a chance that the uterus can expel the IUD, particularly in the first year after insertion, and especially by women who have never had children. Normally, when IUDs stay in place, a physician must remove them, and no one should attempt to remove an IUD on their own. There are two strings that hang from the IUD, which some men do feel during intercourse. If these become problematic, they can be trimmed.
IUDs that release hormones are plastic, and have an interior cylinder that releases hormones at a controlled level. These work for approximately five years, at about a 99% effectiveness rate, but can be removed anytime. Hormonal birth control methods tend to reduce or eliminate ovulation.
Progestin increases uterine mucus, which lowers speed of sperm and makes it very difficult for sperm to reach an egg if and when ovulation does occur. In the event of fertilization of an egg, progestin tends to prevent implantation,
meaning a woman would naturally miscarry a fertilized egg.

Sarah: Here is a question I have always wondered about: Yesterday, you were talking about Pope John Paul Ringo George II. You were originally a Catholic. Why did you you leave the Catholic Church. Do you think you will be damned in hell for this action?
So Sarah Palin didn’t learn nothing from Harvard…
but what exactly did she learn at the school in Idaho?? She sure has a problem stringing 3 words together into a comprehensible sentence or statement. So what has she learned? Or is she proud of the appearance that she seeks and embraces mediocrity?
I would admire these folks if I saw them opening their homes to teenage girls that find themselves pregnant or are adopting rather than having a boatload of their own kids but that just doesn’t happen. People like the Palins squeeze ‘em out left and right and then leave them at home for their older kids to raise.

Wow, I am in awe that anyone would actually believe this liar. I have had many tests done and the tech that is doing the test NEVER tells you the outcome. It is not the proper protocal I am sure. If a tech tell a patience the wrong thing the doctor could have problems. This woman is really and truly a liar. She still hasn’t shown her medical records of Triggs birth. Liar Liar pants is on fire Sarah. You should be ashamed of yourself if you are giving people wrong information. You remember Sarah you may get away with your lying for a while but your god will get you in the end. God doesn’t put up with liars. You should think about that seriously.
Doesn’t the repetition of the Sarah/McCain ticket faux pas seem more than a little creepy?
The Repuglican party’s members have a wonderful habit of letting the truth of what they are really thinking and planning slip out once in a while.
Did some of the party’s elite “expect” Sarah to supercede McCain had he been elected?
cg………loved your rant. very nicely put.
Mudflatter E & Hub E: Thank you, gracias, merci, obrigado, arrigato, grazie!!!! This was service above & beyond the call of duty. If you cared about the “precious babies,” you’d be adopting the unwanted. Yes, feeding, housing, clothing, educating, and caring for them daily for at least 18 years.
London Bridges – I have wondred the same thing about SP having been christened in the Roman Catholic faith. Supposedly, this means her parents were of that church. Wonder how they feel about her present religion.
(((((((((((((((((((JRC))))))))))))))))))))))))
be still, my heart. the palins of this world have not developed multi-dimensional personalities. they operate in a two dimensional reality, using mostly the primitive, reptilian parts of their brains. that’s why we call them monstrosities. they have no more humanity than a lizard or a python.
When Fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross, and inserting an ungloved hand up every woman’s vagina.
-with apologies to Sinclair Lewis
all I have to say is that if Sarah knows anything…it’s simple
When I was growing up in ND, if a person had an unwanted unplanned teen pregnancy they went down to SD where abortion was legal. Before it became legal in SD, I had a sister who had a high school pregnancy (1960′s) who was sent off to some out of state church run home for unwed mothers and gave the child up for adoption, she was still in high school. Sent off alone, no family visits, very secretive, she won’t even talk about today, she’s in her 60′s, it’s not talked about in the family period.
Thing is, these so called Christian homes for unwed, shamed and shunned mothers made big bucks off teen oopsy and even older unwed women’s pregnancies. Today, not so many babies coming their way, the waiting list to adopt a baby is long and can take years.
They don’t want easy access birth control or abortions, they want the babies. It’s okay for them to sell them, they set up a system to take advantage of young girls and to cash in on the baby product. I see it as legal baby marketing within our own country.
I’m sure it started out perfectly innocent, a way to create a win win situation, but at some point it became business and greed and strong arm tactics for the mother to give up the baby.
I would absolutely love to shake the hands of any ONE person that has EVER told Sarah to sit down and shut up (to her face.) What is it with this expression she keeps using?
This is the demographic going around and shouting down people, trying to prove themselves more Pro-American, Pro-freedom loving, more patriotic and more baby and elderly loving than any of us Mudpups. It’s rediculous.
The marketability and shelf-life Sarah Palin has been and continues to be stupifying.
Oh BTW, we were a God fearing church going middle income family, before some start making judgmental assumptions.
tigerwine—-I read someplace during the election about Sarah’s parents being Catholic when they first went to Alaska, but no longer belong to the church. Think they belong to the same church she belongs to. One of those off the main stream kind of churchs.
I live just outside of Milwaukee and had absolutely no clue that Caribou Barbie was in town. Oh well, no sleep lost here….
here is some of Scarah’s geneology…….I a long time ago followed a rabbit trail about her grandparents but cannot remember all the details and don’t think I kept the links. If I can remember correctly her grandfather was placed in charge of something to do construction wise with containment camps or military outposts, I want to say Idaho, Utah Washington state. I think he is also responsible and given credit for the church built there.
Nothing else is coming to mind. Sorry. It was over a year ago when I was trying to check into her religion roots.
I ‘think’ this is where I got the rabbit trails from, can’t say for sure.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/%7Ebattle/palin.htm
Thanks for the posts about how the pill and IUD really work. I guess I was brainwacked into misinformation. I’ve been following the anti-contraceptive movement a bit and had fallen prey to this bad information.
My Mom was a public health nurse and worked with Sanger in NY for a while. I remember being shocked to learn how illegal contraceptives were and the extent that the government went to arrest and prosecute those who dispensed information and devices.
I was at Lois Capps townhall this summer and remember the moderator, a man, commenting “I don’t understand this question” when someone asked if prescription birth control would be covered under the bill. It’s amazing that we are still fighting in the 21st century to have easy access to birth control.
For any of you wondering more about the women who make the heartbreaking choice to end a much wanted pregnancy, here is a public website that gives voice to our internal ruminations. http://www.aheartbreakingchoice.com/ We published a book not too long ago which we hope can help women who are struggling to make the choice. We don’t advocate anything. But we lend our experience to let other women make their own choices without judgment or pressure–in either direction.
There is a private forum for women who have already made the decision to terminate. If you know of someone who had to make a heartbreaking choice, please let them know about the site. We very carefully vet the people who are allowed in to make sure the crazies can’t infiltrate our private space. But no one who has made the sad choice to terminate a wanted baby is turned away.
Thanks.
There are so many reasons to dislike SP: the vanity, the lying, the abuses of power, the “reach exceeding her grasp” of issues… But for me lately it has boiled down to the simple fact of her not doing her job. When she misquoted Madeleine Albright’s line about “a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women,” she just about summed it up.
No matter how many women (and men) in highly responsible jobs manage to balance work and good parenting, SP’s high-profile, empty boast that she could do it all puts all working women in a bad light. She couldn’t handle the job for –your choice of reasons — then bailed out and left her state in the lurch. But how many bosses and voters are thinking twice again about female candidates with kids as if that’s a deal-breaker: “Jeez if even moose-dresser superwoman Sarah, with all her helpers, couldn’t manage it, I can’t take the risk that this woman will be able to.”
SP has not helped other women by her half-ass job performance. Compound that with her anti-choice demagoguery and she’s moved back the ball for women considerably. It’s as if her whole goal was to prove by example (hers and so far her daughters) that the Dominionist push for stay-at-home babymakers was justified.
@128 Say No to Palin
here’s an article about that very thing http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090914/joyce/1
Fellow mudpups: HusbandE says that your comments have been like balm on his tortured ears. We went home and self-medicated with wine and pizza. Necessary. Very necessary.
And for those who asked, I do think the hall was close to capacity. It’s rumored to hold nearly 5,500, and they might have been able to fit another 500 or so, but likely not a lot more than that. So fun to be part of this community…happy to be able to help out!
All I can add to these great comments (hugs to all) is it appears to me that Sarah Palin took every risk she could think of to lose/endanger the life of this child. She ‘chose’ to follow through rather than have an abortion hoping the baby would die. In my opinion that makes her 100 times worse than a pregnant woman on crack.
It disgusts me that she continues to use the word ‘chose’. It literally means she had and made a choice. And yes (as Suzi? mentioned), she said she had thought about how ‘nobody would know’ in a talk a while back. I think AKM might have posted it. Indiana maybe?
Can’t we start a “Sarah, Sit Down and Shut up” petition? Not even one woman I know of likes her at all. Most are apalled.
Thank you to Mudflatter E and Spouse E, you are brave (o:
1. “Neck a little thicker than usual” WHAT? Aside from the fact that no tech would say that, at 12 weeks the head is still 1/3 of the whole picture. There is no neck — at least not in my ultrasound pix.
2. Thanks to the E’s. I grew up in Milwaukee, but I haven’t lived in WI since 1969. I did not realize how reactionary the state is about reproductive rights. You learn something every day — sometimes things you don’t enjoy.
3. Wisconsin does have some pretty draconian laws on the books, but they are — at the moment — largely unconstitutional and unenforceable.
I see villages from my house. I’d like to see someone stand up to Sarah and say they will NOT sit down and shut up. Some rational and intelligent person who does NOT share Sarah’s world view and has the rhetoric and facts to support their argument and show her for the liar she is.
There’s a reason Sarah’s public appearances and media interviews are as controlled and Fascist as they are. She doesn’t know much but she knows she can’t hold her own in a debate with anyone that actually has a brain and an education. So she shields herself from the possibility.
A gentle question. By focusing so much time and attention on the village clown, are progressives missing the more important conversation about their own accomplishments and where we ought to be going? We have hundreds of millions of dollars of stimulus money pouring into Alaska, the economy is turning around, we are on the verge of a national health care plan, our foreign policy has been totally changed and yet, the majority of the blogologue seems to be about a non-entity. Frankly, we seem to be doing Palin’s public relations for her. Seems like a change in emphasis in our public dialogue might be a good idea?
Sarah is a woman with a vision and it’s very scarey. Who takes care of a DS child once the parent’s can’t? Not everyone has the tender, loving hand of a mother. Abortion should always be a choice.

Well, she was in Louisiana. Where it’s a crime to perform abortions.
_______________________________
Evidently it was legal in 2005 based on the statistics – I’m not so sure about it being “illegal”…I live here and have never heard the law being updated…
I think this explains the LA wishful thinking law making abortion illegal:
NEAR-TOTAL WITH DELAYED EFFECTIVE DATE (“TRIGGER” BAN)
In 2006, Louisiana enacted a near-total ban on abortion, to become effective if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, or if a constitutional amendment is adopted that allows states to ban abortion.
Here’s the link … http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/choice-action-center/in_your_state/who-decides/state-profiles/louisiana.html?templateName=lawdetails&issueID=5&ssumID=2614
Please do some research before making assertions–i.e., cannot determine sex at 12 weeks and neck thickness (actually the thickness of the skin at the neck) not being measured or significant at 12 weeks. A little research online will tell you that sex CAN be determined with a high degree of certainty at 12 weeks and that the thickness of the neck skin at 12 weeks can be a sign of possible Down’s. Making sweeping statements (as we all do at times) undermines credibility and lessens the impact of the legitimate points that are being made.
Of course, the earliest feminist leaders were decidedly pro-women’s health. And the first thing they taught women, as important to them as learning to read, were the available methods of birth control. Their abortion work was necessarily underground, since it was a harsh prison sentence to provide such services. And of course, that is a historical fact. No wonder Sarah was ignorant.
lilybart me too Rebekka, you say it so well.I once tried to tell someone on the ADN that I was pro-life and also pro-choice and the made fun and said it was nor feasible.But just because I could not have a abortion does not mean I should make that decision for someone else. I once talked my ex -sister in law out of having an abortion.She called crying that she had just found out she was with child and could not handle another child,She had a real handful with the three she had.She knew how I felt about the issue because it took me so long to have my youngest who is two months older than her youngest.At any rate she listened to me and he was born two months after mine.I have been to some of these events and Rebekka is right all they do is tell them to go on welfare then complain about welfare or single moms. LOL I also agree that if sex ed was better taught abortion would be much less than it is and of course the use of preventive measures. I just never liked the way some used it to excess instead of using preventive measures.
I believe President Obama had said if we had more birth control being taught there would be less abortions.IMO It goes hand in hand.
Did any one correct CBS I went to CBS.com but could not find a contact page.
Thanks to the mudpup couple who went into the belly of the beast. I think when palin talks and takes notice of writing on a coin it is someone else telling her that stuff.I would bet she doesn’t ever look at coins except to see what they are a dime a nickle ect.
Boy I did not even realize Wi had banned abortions back when my ex and I had something to do with it,his idea,it was back in1985 thru may be 1987 when he when on the 500 club and lied about his girlfriend having and abortion,It took almost 18 years for me to find out he lied about it all and the 500 club did not check his story out they just ran with it, when I think about it now 3 years after our annulement I can’t belief i fell for the whole poor me story
I’m not buying Sarah’s “internal battle” balogna. If she’s pro life, she wouldn’t even bother with Amnio, she’d shut her mouth and accept whatever God sends her. No one would risk fetal distress or worse by taking a plane ride and a long road trip with ruptured membranes. Why hide a pregnancy for so long in the first place?
She evokes Pope John Paul II’s pro-life stance when she left the Catholic Church? No wonder she has all these banned devices when she speaks!
