I saw the Biography show on Sarah Palin last night on TV. I wonder who advised her to talk "tough"? It's quite phony. Lord help us if she gets to the White House. I wonder if she is buddies with Russ Limbaugh? She knows how to talk the talk for the audience she's trying to reach. Scarey, very, very scarey.

"Despite what CNN reported, decisions about not allowing cameras at the event were the prerogative of the sponsors of the event, and I, of course, respected their decision.

I am about to set out on my book tour, where media will no doubt join us at many spots. In the meantime, I ask our friends in the media once again: please quit making things up."
* ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** *
Found this on Bree Palin's website and ran it through my new Mac Sarah Palin "What I Really Meant" filter program. Here's what I got::

'Despite what every news channel reported because it was the actual truth, decisions about not allowing cameras at the event were the prerogative of the sponsors of the event, and I, of course, didn't actually know that ahead of time, but was perfectly fine with it because I do not want just anybody taking pictures of me or, God forbid, recording what I've said so they can confront me with the truth of what I've purported later."

AND ...

"I am about to set out on my freakishly small book tour, where local media who rarely get a chance to meet a celebrity of my calibre will no doubt join us at many spots, and if they don't I will be royally cheesed off. In the meantime, I ask our friends in the media once again: please only ask me easy, happy, friendly questions that have been pre-approved ahead of time by my publisher/spokesperson and quit making a big deal about things that I have so obviously made up, such as the story of the circumstances surrounding the pre-birth and birth of Trig, for which there are now at least three differing and completely incompatible stories not from bloggers but from my own interviews and speeches."

curiouser@32 "I just read that the CBO forecasts that premiums for the public insurance would be higher than private insurance. I haven’t read or heard any other discussion of this and am wondering what’s up. Have they structured this thing so the only people going to the public option will be high risk?"

* ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** *
There are certainly some unanswered questions around these issues, ones I'd prefer could be substantively answered. For starters, I'm wondering if these lawmakers know what the word 'affordable' actually means.

However, I thought what I read about the CBO forecasts was that both the current option and even the GOP 'reform-lite' version would lower health insurance costs, though not by what seemed to be very much.

The formula for the cost of Public Option health care (last I heard) was to be tied to medicare costs.

But the premise is, if all things were equal, a not-for-profit health insurance option (public option) is going to be less expensive than a for-profit health insurance option providing exactly the same coverage, simply because it does not have to charge extra for that pesky little thing the shareholders want: A profit.

I know all about this because I am a Billionaire for Wealthcare. I own stock in companies such as Aetna and I don't want to see my profits shrink just because you lot don't like things the way they are now. Like we say, If I ain't broke, don't fix it!

Now, I've heard that in some countries, they actually think it is evil to make a profit off someone being sick. There are lots of countries that do not have a for-profit health industry at all! Can you believe it? Now, granted, the people who do the actual work - doctors, nurses, administrators - still get paid, and paid relatively well. Lots of people make lots of money working for non-profits. But what we at Billionaires for Wealthcare are trying to do is simply protect our God-given right to keep making money by being shareholders in for-profit health care industries.

Thus, a Public Option is a clear threat, so we thank people like Michelle Bachmann and pretty much all Republican senators and congresspeople, and every single real American who has called their federal representative to urge them to vote against this bill, because the longer we wait to enact reform, the more money I'll make!
