The Shannyn Moore Show – Live Blogging

7 11 2009

It’s Saturday once again, and the imprisoned public airwaves of poor poor KBYR get their time out of the Big House, and into the Yard for some fresh air and recreation.  Ahhhhhh…..  Sanity.

Lots to talk about this week. What’s on your mind? Health care, that Don Young compares to “bobbing for apples in an outhouse?” Michele Bachmann calling for Revolution on the steps of the Capitol? Mark Begich pointing out that Alaska has great government-run health care that works just fine? Sarah Palin sinking the GOP ship in NY’s district 23? The Great Levi Twitter debacle?

You know the drill:

Live Stream it HERE.

Time:  5-7pm Alaska time, 6-8pm Pacific, and 9-11pm Eastern.

Give a call, and live blog it in the comments!

Going to a well deserved rest tonight—I need to do brunch for 8 in the morning—kids will do that to you.

I leave you with this about the Congressional vote: I was singularly unimpressed with MOST of the Republican speakers tonight…no passion, no position, nothing but poison. At least the Democrats had humor, passion, and a proposal.

Kurt Vonnegut said that the most disappointing thing about turning sixty (many years ago) was that the world was being run by people you went to high school with.

I hope Michelle Bachmann’s lei has begun to wilt…and that Sarah’s star will soon fade.

Very funny but risque video featuring a s*x toy playing the part of our dear Sarah! Good for laughs after a stressful evening watching the health care debate.

All in all, this has been a pretty good day. We had a Mudstock here, the party ended with a rainbow, Boodog was not involved in the accidents on the way home (thankfully), and we have hope of health care of all (truly, maybe most?). BTW, it was great to “meet” some the the AK mudpups online – sorry our camera did not work. Slipstream, you look great in blue :) Thanks Jaime for making this work for us. And thanks AKM for popping in before we had to disband our small Mudstock. We had both Brenda and Brian, good snacks, and a fun time. We watched some of CSPAN when we liked the speaker and turned the sound down and booed when Joe “you lie” appeared!

I just want to say thanks to all the mudpups and to AKM in particular for making this a place to laugh, enjoy one another, and to see great pictures!

The NY Times has a great interactive map with the votes from tonight. I checked the votes and wrote one Thank-you email to my rep, Jim Cooper, and one Shame on you email to a rep in a neighboring district. The map is on the front page tonight. They usually keep the these maps on the Politics page for awhile.

Thought some might like a good source of information for that target list. Do we have three more votes to go? I think it’s the Senate vote next. Then they reconcile the two bills and they go back to both for final votes.

Here is the breakdown of the vote on Health Care Reform in the House. I am proud to to say that all five of the Arizona Democrats , despite initial negative reaction in a couple of the “blue dogs”. all voted FOR the bill’s passage. Mitchell and Giffords were both initially opposed to the bill, but listened to their constituents when we demanded the reform. Grivalja led the caucus of 65 House members who were consistent in their demand for a Public option, and my own Representative, Ed Pastor, who was a member of that caucus from the beginning. Kilpatrick said nothing until she had listened carefully and weighed all sides of the issue, and committed herself to the bill once she was sure. The breakdown of the other state’s representatives is at the URL below. Not all have what states they represent, but It is a start to tell you whether praise or censure is in order.

Gramiam, I am stuck with Shadegg. Did you see his idiot self using his grand daughter Mattie as a prop? He’s got to go. Along with Kyl and McCain, of course.

@208 Poolman — Not his granddaughter. He actually started out by saying she isn’t. Nobody knows where he got the kid.

Poolman, the baby belongs to one of his staffers. How low is that!! You have any decent Democratic candidates who plan to oppose him?
As for McCain. I am on my knees nightly praying for a teabagger move to unseat McCain. All we need is a bunch of crazies to go after Johnny Maverick and stand back and watch the fun! Then get the Democrat up front to look all intelligent. As for Kyl, we are stuck with him until 2012. I voted for his opponent in 2006 but too many voted for him. All we can do for the moment is make him lonesome!! My names for the remaining Republican Congresscritters? Huey, Dewey and Flakey!
