Huckabee is sure to run, so it is good to hear more about him as Governor and then as Presidential candidate. It seems like the Presidential election just happened, ande before we know it, we'll be in the thick of the 2012 campaign.

Angela - thanks for that insight into Huckabee. I can't help but compare him and Romney to SP. Both those men seem to have been good governors, and, I believe, would be more centrist as a president than a right wing wingnut. And, for the life of me, I can't see what all the brough-ha-ha is about when folks bring up that Romney is a Mormon. Having lived through the Kennedy scare, when "if you vote for him, the Pope will rule the US" mentality, I thought we had gotten over that. Now, what does scare me, really, really scare me, is the right-wing conservative Christians.

While I wouldn't vote for Huckabee for President, unless the candidate from the other party were as ignorant as Sarah Palin, I did vote for him as Governor of Arkansas (while also voting for Clinton, Gore and Kerry for Pres).

Mike didn't run the state as a right wingnut. He governed from the center, was well liked and respected. When everyone was picking Clinton's bones clean, Mike wouldn't do it. He was very respectful of Bill and Hillary and thought the matter (affair) should be a personal issue.

The last year or two of his Governorship we began to see a difference in how he governed. I suppose he was getting the idea of a national run and he tried to beef up his right wing support.

In reality though, Mike is not a wingnut, this is a persona he has created for the national spotlight. While he is a minister, has deep religous convictions and beliefs, he didn't govern that way. In fact he ticked the right wing off quite abit in Arkansas.

He gave our state childrens medical coverage, beyond medi-caid, called ARkidsfirst, he pushed it, he sold it and he won it. He tries to run from that fact now. Mike also has always defended illegal immigrants, until his run for Pres.......... It makes me sick he changed his tune on these issues but I know it isn't what he actually believes. I would never vote for him for that reason (I always seem to vote Dem for Pres) but I will say, he is far more compassionate and "real" than Sarah Palin and probably the rest of the men who will be running.

Actually, I would go so far as to say, his convictions are real, not pretended, yes he is pro-life, no he would never deny a child full medical coverage, he wouldn't jail an illegal immigrant, or probably put up a fence on the border.

Well didn't mean to defend him that much, how-ever, there is no comparison between Mike and Sarah Palin, NONE. If there were a choice between them, Mike at least has sense, education, morals, decency, REAL compassion, and some knowledge.

There's been a lot said on this post regarding SP's looks. Made me think about someone who asked "Would we be paying this much attention to SP if she looked like Golda Maier? (Or Madeline Allbright?) Shame on us as a nation for not digging beneath the skin, and seeing only what is on the surface. (Except for us mudpuppies, of course!)

It wasn't too long ago that Huckabee made a sneering remark about President Obama's new church. Being a preacher, he should know that we do have freedom of religion in this country. I wouldn't trust him across the street. Maybe not like Palin, but "slick". Some of the people that he has on his show make me ill.

(*need an edit button-to finish my half-baked thoughts)
@jojobo1
...I believe that those 3, and Palin, by calling educated people elitist would continue and increase the devaluing of intelligence. The current atmosphere has already made the meaning of the word education 'fuzzy.' Political and religious propaganda encourages the changing of word definitions in order to create new and self-serving 'truths' to further political and religious agendas. As the daughter of educators, this is really how I see this 'right' vs. 'left' struggle stacking up. Whenever anyone demeans an educated person as elitist, or a book (for whatever reason), or the arts; or when someone (or a group, or an administration) denies scientific fact, I see red, and I see danger. We have got to support public education and insist that our students be taught to THINK.

I wouldn't trust huckabee as far as I could throw him after his not so funny joke about a gunshot.IMO he would have been the first to hit the floor. I lost all respect for the man after that..Romney has to much money he can buy his way in and we don't need that. I though Pawlenty would be ok till he went with palin and beckmann nut balls.all three of these men want to bring their religion into the whitehouse and IMO make it the religion of choice and there goes freedom of religion

Paula,
I think Tundra Twitter has a snowball's chance in you-know-where of becoming president, but she is so vain that I think she wants it more than anything. To her it is the ultimate beauty pageant, and we all know that she has her fancy pageant walkin' down.

She is definitely motivated by greed, but I think her narcissism trumps her greed. Too bad for her that her stupidity trumps both her greed and her vanity.
