Open Thread – Apples Anyone?

9 11 2009

Ever have one of those days when you don’t laugh much?  One of those days when you think to yourself, “WHEN will this day EVER end?!”  Nothing really devastating, but you just count the time until bed when you can sleep and reboot the system?  I had one of those today, and at about 10:00pm I got an email from Ink & Snow.  The subject line said “Bobbing for Apples with Don Young,” so I was immediately intrigued.  Don Young, in his very Don Young sort of way compared the Health Care Bill that just got passed to “bobbing for apples in an outhouse.”  “The closer you look,” he said, “the more waste you find.”

Well, I clicked on the email and laughed myself silly.  A wonderful gift at the end of a not so wonderful day.

Unless someone is infiltrating $’P’s Facebook ( i mean, other than her ghostwriter, Murdoch, Meg and perhaps Todd) , this looks official. The Palin Twitter Vortex will be opening soon .

The Palin twitterverse has gone mad with the prospect. As of 6:30 EST, a few have even cried.

    o dear.

boodog – $’P in your state for Thanksgiving – Perhaps the wild turkey population will attack ? Can you arrange that ??? ( I like this scenario!)

And speaking of turkeys – Is Palin NOT a chicken ? What a farce to spin “I’ll be showing up in cities that are the heart of America” . Pshaw.

If I could have a tofurkey created in the image if Palin, I swear – I’d go for that this year.

No More Muslims in the U.S. Military
    Date: 11/6/2009 11:52:15 AM

by Bryan Fischer, AFA Director of Issues Analysis

“It became evidently almost immediately that the mass murderer in yesterday’s killing spree at Fort Hood was a Muslim who was motivated by jihadist impulses.

Nidal Malik Hasan had told fellow soldiers that the Muslim who killed two recruiters last summer in Little Rock, Arkansas had done the right thing. He spoke openly of his belief that the Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq should rise up and fight the aggressor, by which he meant the U.S. military of which he inexplicably was a part.

He wrote blog entries urging jihad, entries which six months ago attracted the attention of the FBI. Bizarrely, its investigation was closed, he was allowed to continue serving in the military, and as a result, 11 innocent soldiers are now dead, cut down in cold blood on one of their own bases on U.S. soil.

It it is time, I suggest, to stop the practice of allowing Muslims to serve in the U.S. military. The reason is simple: the more devout a Muslim is, the more of a threat he is to national security. Devout Muslims, who accept the teachings of the Prophet as divinely inspired, believe it is their duty to kill infidels. Yesterday’s massacre is living proof. And yesterday’s incident is not the first fragging incident involving a Muslim taking out his fellow U.S. soldiers.”

Buffalo Gal… just saw the same at HuffPost…

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20091109/us-palin-twitter/

It lists one of the three stops here in FL as just ‘The Villages’… would that include the villages of the damned? Or the Disney villages? Or the villages that are missing their idiots?

I also found her rant about the ‘In God We Trust’ coin-spiracy to be a hoot as well! Who would DO such a thing? Who indeed! Did she not know that the whole commemorative Presidential coin idea was brought by Republican John Sununu? Approved by just about everyone…and signed by GWB… in 2005? It was never really ‘Off’ the coin, just placed along the rim… so there could be more room for the art! They even put it back ON the front starting November of 2008! Or was it that she is just pushing a hissy fit ‘cuz she’ll never be ON one? It’s not like this info isn’t readily available… I had my 10 year old ‘A’ student granddaughter Google it for me, and she found it in about 10 seconds! She’s beautiful AND smart! She could give old Saracuda a run for her money!

On the Stupak Ammendment that passed, both he and his co-sponser Joe Pitts are part of “The Family”

Funny how all GOP voted for the Stupak Ammendment, then against the bill. Note… look at the dems that voted in favor of Stupak ammendment and then against hcr bill.

Great way to make sure to stir up division.

From the few times I have seen a golf tournament on TV they run the commercial for ” The Villages ” a LOT. ( If it is the same place ) It is a very Exclusive Community and you would need a LOT of money to live there. It does NOT sound like the kind of place you would find the typical ‘ Palin Fan ‘. Smart rich people…Hmm… WHY would they want Her book…?

BTW : Note to Sarah .
How exclusive is it..? This community brags about one of their more famous Residents in their commercials as a sales tool. He is ‘ like ‘ The President as well in that he is mixed race. Tiger Woods lives there.
If I remember correctly, I think Tigers house/Mansion is worth about 36 Million. I don’t think Tigers house has turrets though.
And Tiger doesn’t Quit half-way though His Tournaments…

“It became evidently almost immediately that the mass murderer in yesterday’s killing spree at Fort Hood was a Muslim who was motivated by jihadist impulses.”

We can believe he’s a Muslim, but what evidence do you provide that he had ‘jihadist impulses’?

“Nidal Malik Hasan had told fellow soldiers that the Muslim who killed two recruiters last summer in Little Rock, Arkansas had done the right thing. He spoke openly of his belief that the Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq should rise up and fight the aggressor, by which he meant the U.S. military of which he inexplicably was a part.”

And your proof of such assertions is …? You have it on record that … You provide evidence of … ? Nada, zip, zilch, and zero. I hav no more reason to believe what you assert here than what I read in a comic book.

“He wrote blog entries urging jihad, entries which six months ago attracted the attention of the FBI. Bizarrely, its investigation was closed, he was allowed to continue serving in the military, and as a result, 11 innocent soldiers are now dead, cut down in cold blood on one of their own bases on U.S. soil.”

    1) Provide those blog entries as proof; and
    2) If someone knew about this, why wasn’t anything done about it; and
    3) Stop being so coy, what conspiracy are you supposing; and
    4) how on earth do you make the incredible leap that ‘11 innocent soldiers are dead’ because of … the FBI closed an investigation(?) and didn’t kick him out of the military (which, surely, the military could have done without needing the FBI (?)

Did something go wrong here? Yes. Did someone or someones miss something that could have made some sort of difference? Sure. But to place blame squarely and exactly somewhere or on someone I think is premature at best, misguided at worst.

“It it is time, I suggest, to stop the practice of allowing Muslims to serve in the U.S. military. The reason is simple: the more devout a Muslim is, the more of a threat he is to national security. Devout Muslims, who accept the teachings of the Prophet as divinely inspired, believe it is their duty to kill infidels.”

You do realize how wrong that is, in a country that was founded so people could have religious freedom (yes, yes, I know, it was founded so the founders could have freedom of THEIR religion, but it did become, overall, a nation that had far more religious tolerance than a lot of places had at the time. This statement is simple fearmongering.

“Yesterday’s massacre is living proof. And yesterday’s incident is not the first fragging incident involving a Muslim taking out his fellow U.S. soldiers.”

You know you can really respect a writer’s intelligence and integrity when they use the word ‘fragging’ in their sentence.

I’m afraid to run this through my Mac “What I Really Meant” translator because I fear what would come out would be unprintable in polite society and might get me tagged (rightly!) by the FBI.

honestyinGov… I know the area… couple of nice golf courses there near Lady Lakes at Lake Sumter… and it’s not that ‘rich’ a spot… just a better class of a retirement community area. Nice homes, under 190K (they WERE going for over 275K a scant few years ago!)… nice republican area. The REAL $$$ is in Sailfish Point near me, and from Jupiter Island south to Palm Beach. But THOSE people know better than to invlove her ‘ness in anything worthy. Think ‘The Donalds’ Mar Largo… and bungalows that go for 500-800K! We call that ’smart money’ here! Okay, and some just plain ‘old money’ too, also.
