Love this one – and although I don’t know what God is calling Sarah Palin to, I’m a little suspicious of that higher calling also (though I don’t doubt that God is calling each of us to something higher than we currently live!)
Two pieces of cognitive dissonance are really getting to me the last couple of days:
1) The people who Don’t Want Government Involved in Health Care have managed to further restrict the ability of a poor woman to get a legal abortion.
2) The people who are going to join Joe Lieberman in screaming that “this is the worst terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11″ think it’s perfectly okay to bring guns to see the president because, you know, it’s their right to carry arms wherever they want to. We should apparently have recognized sooner that this guy might have said some suspicious things, but it’s okay to call the President of the United States the spawn of satan.
Oh – forgot this little piece of contradiction, from Rachel last night – Joe L. said that little bit about terrorism on American soil just 6 seconds after he said we mustn’t jump to conclusions about the motive for Hassan’s attack. As usual, he means ‘everybody who doesn’t agree with me mustn’t jump to conclusions,” or alternatively, “I couldn’t possibly jump to conclusions, so this doesn’t apply to me.”

I grew up about 20 miles from Adams/North Adams and still have a few relatives in that area. They also are glad the SBA home is being restored but aren’t happy that small and vocal groups keep interfering in their “live and let live” way of life. Locals are welcome to differing points of view, and respect one another’s rights for those differences, but are sick to death as many are, of those we term as *flatlanders* (anyone not a local who comes in and tries to determine what is best for everyone according to their viewpoints).
I try to catch a few minutes of CNN each morning and have been noticing that Dana Bash is leaning more and more right in her reporting. Her choices of words, certain nuances, the emphasis on some phrases – there is nothing unbiased about her of late and it isn’t surprising given the fact that she is married to John King. I absolutely refuse to watch him on Sunday mornings – he’s so far right he’s he might as well move into C Street.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) has placed a hold on a major veterans benefits bill because he wants to use unspent stimulus dollars to fund it. Today, Democratic senators who are advocates of the bill will hold a press conference to highlight Coburn’s obstructionism and call on him to lift his hold: Sens. Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii), Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Mark Begich (D-Alaska) will hold a press conference Monday to rally support for the measure. [...]
In a floor statement Friday, Begich called on Coburn to lift his hold. Other Democratic Senators made similar appeals, but Begich took the rare step of naming Coburn on the Senate floor.
“I am disappointed that my Senate colleague does not feel this same sense of duty and responsibility to our nation’s heroes, who have sacrificed so much for our very right to stand in this body and debate this matter,” Begich said. “There is no good reason or rationale for a hold to be placed on this legislation and I call on my colleague to remove his hold.”
I have a question: Is it legal for someone, anyone, to place an item of, let’s say, paper, that may or may not consist of yellow boots and a website address into the pages of S’P's book if it happens to be on a shelf at a bookstore as one might happen by it? Or possibly something far more cryptic, but perhaps done on a national scale by random, anonymoose individuals, that only those people would really know had happened?

Heard on the news this morning, Scarah will be at Border Books in Springfield, MO Dec. 2, didn’t catch the time. Yuck. The same day she gives a night time speech at Christian University of the Ozarks.
Carrie Prejean (sp) was on to ‘explain’ her side of the sex video, I didn’t catch all of it, but did hear her whiney girl claim that she and every other conservative woman is being Palinized and what a double standard it is, gah, lol.
Who has a double standard Carrie? Grow up, if you do things and you are a public figure, yeah, you’re going to get criticized. And if you happen to claim a holier than thou existence who has a higher calling, then yeah, you’re going to get double whammyed. What’s so hard to understand here?
Oh and this: I just now had this thought. S’arah will not be in Harpo studios. I bet money that she’ll appear on Oprah “live via satellite” from Alaska. It would not be the first time that a talk show host said they were going to have someone “on” the show and it was via satellite. For instance, Letterman advertised that he’d have Michelle Obama on… she was there “via satellite”.
My prediction: $P “live” on Oprah via satellite. No audience, no protests, no nothing. Fluff for Oprah.
If she is not live, she can have her ghost writers and Van Flea furiously prepping cue cards and giving her had signals to assist her with her thoughtful and articulate responses. I will be very disappointed if Oprah lets her off the hook with a long distance appearance by Skype.

Y’know, I try to appreciate $P for the comic relief, but she really is a revolting individual (and I SO hope she’s reading this morning). She’s not done one thing since she quit her office to benefit anyone but herself. I’ve said it before, her “higher calling” is to a higher tax bracket. She actually does have a following and she could use this attention to raise money for special needs kids, a foundation for research, financial asst. for families in need, but NO. That is what I find most offensive about her, she has NO compassion for anyone. Oh, and BTW, if memory serves, families of the disabled receive SSI checks every month…are you turning down that gov’t hand-out, Paylin? Thought not.

I just read this article in the WaPo on Scozzafava. It’s a great read and I recommend it. Here are 2 quotes that I think pretty much sums up the simmering resentment among moderate Republicans against the Palin/Beck-led Conservatives:
“How can Sarah Palin come out and endorse someone who can’t answer some basic questions,” Scozzafava asked. “Do these people even know who they are endorsing?”
and
“There is a lot of us who consider ourselves Republicans, of the Party of Lincoln,” she said, her face now flush. “If they don’t want us with them, we’re going to work against them.”
The thing that struck me most was how Palin never changes. Whether it’s Alaska or upstate NY – Sarah stops at nothing to get the 2 things she values above all: Money & Power. Glenn Beck and Dick Armey may think they are part of the “movement” – but our Sarah will throw them under the bus as soon as they are no longer useful to her.
I feel for Dede. She is a human being – one thing that Palin seems to conveniently forget as she trashes a woman she barely knows. My heart went to Dede as I read of her struggles. These are real people who are passionate about their work, their district and the people they represent. And here comes Palin – who abandoned the state who elected her and the people she was supposed to represent – spreading nasty lies about Dede, JUST because they shared different views.
I hope the day will come soon that Sarah Palin is shown to the world for who she really truly is – a grasping greedy power hungry demagogue.
I’d already read about Sister Sarah repeating a clearly incorrect “conspiracy theory”. Is there no one on Team Sarah that do ANY research before their head honcho opens her mouth? I mean, geez, it’s embarrassing. Allowing someone who is already thought of by the majority of the country as a Dithering Moron to further prove that point is really just falling down on the job.
Can Sarah not afford people with brains to advise her? Maybe some of that book advance money should be re-directed from the “Lake Lucille Renovation Fund” and “Sarah’s Roguey Shopping Fund” to hiring some decent staff.

Love this one Fly! It has special impact on me this morning because the last hour or so of dreamtime was Palin! A few mudpups were there. We were posing as media and got invited to a “book launch / political campaign” shindig at her home/compound. It was winter and she was showing off her snowmachine skills. Everyone, save for the mudpups, were uber impressed. At one point I got hold of an audio book version of her memoirs and she was doing the reading. It was absolute TORTURE!
Towards the end of the dream she caught me whispering to someone and she gave me this steely look and said, “You don’t understand me and that’s why you’ll never win. You need to know what makes me tick”.
Was VERY happy to wake from that one. And here’s the really weird thing – When I walked my daughter to the bus stop as she was heading to work, I see a box sitting at the drop off door for the thrift shop. Sitting right on top were two books – “The Believer’s Guide to Spiritual Warfare” and “Spiritual Warfare for Every Christian – How to Live in Victory and Retake the Land”.
Ok – c’mon! What are the chances??? I considered grabbing them but then figured that stealing “spiritual warrior” books from the Salvation Army would look none too good on my karmic record. I decided there was little chance someone was going to snag them before I could get back with my $1.07.
( i just opened up one of the books to a random page and read, ” Make no mistake. You and those around you are either in the Kingdom of God’s Son or you are in the kingdom of evil and darkness.” This is gonna be a fun read!)
WE didn’t palinize her, we merely mocked the poorly articulated ‘opposite marriage’ statement (ask 100 people who know nothing about her what ‘opposite marriage’ is and 98 of them would answer, “Ummm… divorce?” and the other 2 would say, “Ummm… staying single?”!).

Did you know Vanessa Williams received death threats and racist hate mail while she was Miss America? That was BEFORE the (unauthorized!) art photos of her surfaced.
If she does appear “live via satellite ” on Oprah can you just see it? Oprah asks her a question and she suddenly runs over to a 3′ stack of notecards and ruffles through them. Finally says “I’ll try find you some and bring em to ya.”
Recently read regarding her “In God We Trust” on the edge of coins spiel. “At least we know she’s reading all them coins, any they put in front of her.”
Prejean really does live down to the old stereotype of dumbarse blonde. It was painful listening to her interview on The Today Show this morning but these things sometimes need to be done just to the rest of the day can be seen as less than dull.
The Today Show should stop trying to titillate the masses and just keep on moving beyond the Prejeans of this country… “move along now, there’s nothing to be seen here.”
When Sarah (and John McCain) lost a year ago, I thought that was the sound of a door being slammed in Sarah’s face. Since then, everything that she has done has the appearance of being all about the money and not about that higher-calling-stuff. I’ve come to a conclusion about Sarah; it’s not the message, it’s the money. To make that picture complete, I see a shower of coins and dollar bills falling from the hand onto Sarah.
I haven’t read all the previous posts yet, but, I heard that Levi was on ET and Inside Edition. Does anyone have the video? He suggests to Scarah they call a truce. Does Scarah do truces? I don’t think so, lol.
Hmmm, what will Scarah do, who will she listen to? her inner rogue self or others. My bet is herself, her gut, which I think wants to tear Levi to bits right now, she must be seeing red.
And one has to wonder, will a scandal about Scarah come out in the next day or two to ‘capture’ headlines help promote her book and the ‘unjustness of media prejudice against conservative women’? seriously, this seems to becoming a pattern.
And, I find it SO hypocritical that Prejean is spinning this all away from her, when it was SHE who signed a contract while knowing she was lying. She tries to make this ALL about her marriage statement, when it is NOT. This is how she ‘owns’ what she did? These people are psychologically delusional! She was a fool to sue knowing she had things in her past that would come out. Unless it was all a publicity stunt to sell books.
This is why I expect something now from Scarah. Can she pull it off as well as Prejean. Can you Scarah? I can’t wait for her scandal to come out. Why did she really resign?

An excellent review of Palin by David Frum (A conservative or at least a member of the GOP) http://www.frumforum.com/the-palin-fantasy . Of course, he’s now deemed a traitor to the cause just like all members of the GOP that do not jump to Palin’s defense. The review is refreshing but when you read through some of the comments your blood pressure will surely rise. Many of the posters agree with his assessment of Madame Palin but when you get to posts written by her rabid fans, fear will strike–how can these idiots believe what they’re writing?!
I’m hoping that the country will soon see clearly, once and for all, what a fraud Palin really is. I don’t know how that’s going to happen but my fingers remain tightly crossed that is happens asap.

It was funny that someone thought David Frum was a no-name…….hmmmm…….I’ve known of him and read his material for many years prior to Palin ever coming on the scene – to me the slam at him shows the low level of intellect and awareness of that commenter.

Do we need Bill Clinton in here to explain why it’s not a good idea to split hairs on what is or isn’t a sexual act?”

GreatGranny2C…By Jove…I think you’re right! I would think that Reagan would be aghast to think that people compare Palin to him. Like him or hate him, Reagan at least studied and worked on policy issues for decades before running for office. He also completed two full terms as governor of California (which, even then, had a population the size of a small country) before running for President. It’s important to note here that no matter what mean things people said about him, he did not quite. I wish Nancy Reagan would come out and tell people to stop comparing her husband to the fraud Sarah Palin.

Having said that, I doubt either Oprah or Barbara will ask them; they are after all looking for ratings, not information.

Yesterday I wrote an e-mail to DeDe (NY 23) thanking her for her service and said I was sorry she had to go through what she did. She had to really make some hard choices, and outside people got way too involved. That really wasn’t fair. Told her good luck with future endeavors.

So cool. My students thought I was too geeky for writing it to begin with, but even the most disengaged of them thought it was pretty cool I got a response. It made her more real to them.
And a shout out to Boehner, too, for making such a screw up as to quote the Declaration of the Independence as the Preamble. How nice he could become a lesson plan. Several of them noted that not one of the people standing behind him seemed to know the difference either.
You know we had this discussion about “evil” money several years ago in Homer, Alaska (just to show you what Alaska is REALLY like in February). Seems some of the local church folks objected to a painting in the post office because it depicted a pyramid. As you all know, this is a sign of the devil! It also appears on the back of the one dollar bill. Anyway, after much ado and many letters to the editor, a civic minded citizen solved the problem. He offered to take all of the offending dollar bills, all you had to do was mail them to him.

Two pieces of cognitive dissonance are really getting to me the last couple of days:
1) The people who Don’t Want Government Involved in Health Care have managed to further restrict the ability of a poor woman to get a legal abortion.
2) The people who are going to join Joe Lieberman in screaming that “this is the worst terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11″ think it’s perfectly okay to bring guns to see the president because, you know, it’s their right to carry arms wherever they want to. We should apparently have recognized sooner that this guy might have said some suspicious things, but it’s okay to call the President of the United States the spawn of satan.
Very large sigh.
Oh – forgot this little piece of contradiction, from Rachel last night – Joe L. said that little bit about terrorism on American soil just 6 seconds after he said we mustn’t jump to conclusions about the motive for Hassan’s attack. As usual, he means ‘everybody who doesn’t agree with me mustn’t jump to conclusions,” or alternatively, “I couldn’t possibly jump to conclusions, so this doesn’t apply to me.”

I grew up about 20 miles from Adams/North Adams and still have a few relatives in that area. They also are glad the SBA home is being restored but aren’t happy that small and vocal groups keep interfering in their “live and let live” way of life. Locals are welcome to differing points of view, and respect one another’s rights for those differences, but are sick to death as many are, of those we term as *flatlanders* (anyone not a local who comes in and tries to determine what is best for everyone according to their viewpoints).
I try to catch a few minutes of CNN each morning and have been noticing that Dana Bash is leaning more and more right in her reporting. Her choices of words, certain nuances, the emphasis on some phrases – there is nothing unbiased about her of late and it isn’t surprising given the fact that she is married to John King. I absolutely refuse to watch him on Sunday mornings – he’s so far right he’s he might as well move into C Street.

I have a question: Is it legal for someone, anyone, to place an item of, let’s say, paper, that may or may not consist of yellow boots and a website address into the pages of S’P's book if it happens to be on a shelf at a bookstore as one might happen by it? Or possibly something far more cryptic, but perhaps done on a national scale by random, anonymoose individuals, that only those people would really know had happened?

Heard on the news this morning, Scarah will be at Border Books in Springfield, MO Dec. 2, didn’t catch the time. Yuck. The same day she gives a night time speech at Christian University of the Ozarks.
Carrie Prejean (sp) was on to ‘explain’ her side of the sex video, I didn’t catch all of it, but did hear her whiney girl claim that she and every other conservative woman is being Palinized and what a double standard it is, gah, lol.
Who has a double standard Carrie? Grow up, if you do things and you are a public figure, yeah, you’re going to get criticized. And if you happen to claim a holier than thou existence who has a higher calling, then yeah, you’re going to get double whammyed. What’s so hard to understand here?

Oh and this: I just now had this thought. S’arah will not be in Harpo studios. I bet money that she’ll appear on Oprah “live via satellite” from Alaska. It would not be the first time that a talk show host said they were going to have someone “on” the show and it was via satellite. For instance, Letterman advertised that he’d have Michelle Obama on… she was there “via satellite”.
My prediction: $P “live” on Oprah via satellite. No audience, no protests, no nothing. Fluff for Oprah.

Y’know, I try to appreciate $P for the comic relief, but she really is a revolting individual (and I SO hope she’s reading this morning). She’s not done one thing since she quit her office to benefit anyone but herself. I’ve said it before, her “higher calling” is to a higher tax bracket. She actually does have a following and she could use this attention to raise money for special needs kids, a foundation for research, financial asst. for families in need, but NO. That is what I find most offensive about her, she has NO compassion for anyone. Oh, and BTW, if memory serves, families of the disabled receive SSI checks every month…are you turning down that gov’t hand-out, Paylin? Thought not.

I just read this article in the WaPo on Scozzafava. It’s a great read and I recommend it. Here are 2 quotes that I think pretty much sums up the simmering resentment among moderate Republicans against the Palin/Beck-led Conservatives:
“How can Sarah Palin come out and endorse someone who can’t answer some basic questions,” Scozzafava asked. “Do these people even know who they are endorsing?”
and
“There is a lot of us who consider ourselves Republicans, of the Party of Lincoln,” she said, her face now flush. “If they don’t want us with them, we’re going to work against them.”
The thing that struck me most was how Palin never changes. Whether it’s Alaska or upstate NY – Sarah stops at nothing to get the 2 things she values above all: Money & Power. Glenn Beck and Dick Armey may think they are part of the “movement” – but our Sarah will throw them under the bus as soon as they are no longer useful to her.
I feel for Dede. She is a human being – one thing that Palin seems to conveniently forget as she trashes a woman she barely knows. My heart went to Dede as I read of her struggles. These are real people who are passionate about their work, their district and the people they represent. And here comes Palin – who abandoned the state who elected her and the people she was supposed to represent – spreading nasty lies about Dede, JUST because they shared different views.
I hope the day will come soon that Sarah Palin is shown to the world for who she really truly is – a grasping greedy power hungry demagogue.

Love this one Fly! It has special impact on me this morning because the last hour or so of dreamtime was Palin! A few mudpups were there. We were posing as media and got invited to a “book launch / political campaign” shindig at her home/compound. It was winter and she was showing off her snowmachine skills. Everyone, save for the mudpups, were uber impressed. At one point I got hold of an audio book version of her memoirs and she was doing the reading. It was absolute TORTURE!
Towards the end of the dream she caught me whispering to someone and she gave me this steely look and said, “You don’t understand me and that’s why you’ll never win. You need to know what makes me tick”.
Was VERY happy to wake from that one. And here’s the really weird thing – When I walked my daughter to the bus stop as she was heading to work, I see a box sitting at the drop off door for the thrift shop. Sitting right on top were two books – “The Believer’s Guide to Spiritual Warfare” and “Spiritual Warfare for Every Christian – How to Live in Victory and Retake the Land”.
Ok – c’mon! What are the chances??? I considered grabbing them but then figured that stealing “spiritual warrior” books from the Salvation Army would look none too good on my karmic record. I decided there was little chance someone was going to snag them before I could get back with my $1.07.
( i just opened up one of the books to a random page and read, ” Make no mistake. You and those around you are either in the Kingdom of God’s Son or you are in the kingdom of evil and darkness.” This is gonna be a fun read!)

Prejean really does live down to the old stereotype of dumbarse blonde. It was painful listening to her interview on The Today Show this morning but these things sometimes need to be done just to the rest of the day can be seen as less than dull.
The Today Show should stop trying to titillate the masses and just keep on moving beyond the Prejeans of this country… “move along now, there’s nothing to be seen here.”
When Sarah (and John McCain) lost a year ago, I thought that was the sound of a door being slammed in Sarah’s face. Since then, everything that she has done has the appearance of being all about the money and not about that higher-calling-stuff. I’ve come to a conclusion about Sarah; it’s not the message, it’s the money. To make that picture complete, I see a shower of coins and dollar bills falling from the hand onto Sarah.
I haven’t read all the previous posts yet, but, I heard that Levi was on ET and Inside Edition. Does anyone have the video? He suggests to Scarah they call a truce. Does Scarah do truces? I don’t think so, lol.

And one has to wonder, will a scandal about Scarah come out in the next day or two to ‘capture’ headlines help promote her book and the ‘unjustness of media prejudice against conservative women’? seriously, this seems to becoming a pattern.
And, I find it SO hypocritical that Prejean is spinning this all away from her, when it was SHE who signed a contract while knowing she was lying. She tries to make this ALL about her marriage statement, when it is NOT. This is how she ‘owns’ what she did? These people are psychologically delusional! She was a fool to sue knowing she had things in her past that would come out. Unless it was all a publicity stunt to sell books.
This is why I expect something now from Scarah. Can she pull it off as well as Prejean. Can you Scarah? I can’t wait for her scandal to come out. Why did she really resign?

An excellent review of Palin by David Frum (A conservative or at least a member of the GOP) http://www.frumforum.com/the-palin-fantasy . Of course, he’s now deemed a traitor to the cause just like all members of the GOP that do not jump to Palin’s defense. The review is refreshing but when you read through some of the comments your blood pressure will surely rise. Many of the posters agree with his assessment of Madame Palin but when you get to posts written by her rabid fans, fear will strike–how can these idiots believe what they’re writing?!
I’m hoping that the country will soon see clearly, once and for all, what a fraud Palin really is. I don’t know how that’s going to happen but my fingers remain tightly crossed that is happens asap.

A contract which you apparently signed whilst making false statements about your past. Do we need Bill Clinton in here to explain why it’s not a good idea to split hairs on what is or isn’t a sexual act?”

GreatGranny2C…By Jove…I think you’re right! I would think that Reagan would be aghast to think that people compare Palin to him. Like him or hate him, Reagan at least studied and worked on policy issues for decades before running for office. He also completed two full terms as governor of California (which, even then, had a population the size of a small country) before running for President. It’s important to note here that no matter what mean things people said about him, he did not quite. I wish Nancy Reagan would come out and tell people to stop comparing her husband to the fraud Sarah Palin.

Regarding the Barbara Walters interview. Back in the day, Barbara was a real journalist who would ask hard hitting questions. Today……not so much.
I think being on The View has changed her from a journalist to an entertainer.
Today, she does puff pieces. It’s a shame. I used to like her but in the last few years, she only does these “Hollywood” get-to-know-me interviews that promote the individual rather than hold them accountable.

I tried to come up with ‘serious’ or, as you said, ‘non-bogus’ questions. I believe all of them should be asked and properly answered.
Having said that, I doubt either Oprah or Barbara will ask them; they are after all looking for ratings, not information.
When Sarah has the guts to appear on a real ‘interview’ I might watch … in the meantime, I would feel too insulted to subject myself to Sarah’s world of delusional grandeur.

oops, forgot to tell you I also love “and so it goes” From slaughterhouse five, correct? I miss kurt and “so it goes” has been part of my vocabulary ever since I read that wonderful book many, many moons ago.
Yesterday I wrote an e-mail to DeDe (NY 23) thanking her for her service and said I was sorry she had to go through what she did. She had to really make some hard choices, and outside people got way too involved. That really wasn’t fair. Told her good luck with future endeavors.
Today I got an e-mail reply

So cool. My students thought I was too geeky for writing it to begin with, but even the most disengaged of them thought it was pretty cool I got a response. It made her more real to them.
And a shout out to Boehner, too, for making such a screw up as to quote the Declaration of the Independence as the Preamble. How nice he could become a lesson plan. Several of them noted that not one of the people standing behind him seemed to know the difference either.

You know we had this discussion about “evil” money several years ago in Homer, Alaska (just to show you what Alaska is REALLY like in February). Seems some of the local church folks objected to a painting in the post office because it depicted a pyramid. As you all know, this is a sign of the devil! It also appears on the back of the one dollar bill. Anyway, after much ado and many letters to the editor, a civic minded citizen solved the problem. He offered to take all of the offending dollar bills, all you had to do was mail them to him.
