Big News! Baby Strongheart is on the Way!
Great news! Ann Strongheart, whom many of you know as a strong advocate of Alaska Native issues and the co-founder of the blog Anonymous Bloggers is about to have her baby! Seems that the little one waited for Barack Obama to visit the state before beginning his entrance into the world! I’m in the hangar at Elmendorf AFB waiting for the President to speak, but I will keep you updated!
Just broke the news to Senator Begich who send his best wishes to Ann! He sai that when his wife had Jacob, she didn’t know whether he was a boy or a girl, but he did know! He kept the secret and said to tell Ann that whether it’s a boy or a girl it will be “fantastic!”.
Ethan Berkowiz is here too and he says to say congratulations!
Linda Kellen Biegel is here and said something approximating “woooooooooooooooo!” And don’t forget to breathe!
Shannyn Moore says, “Wonderful! Welcome to the world!”

I’m back from the Obama event now, and according to my email, it sounds like Ann is doing just fine. If she can’t feel all the warm wishes flying across the world to her little spot in Western Alaska, I’d be very surprised. Things are taking a little while, as things like this often do, but all is well. I’m back at Mudflats Central, so I’ll be able to update you with the latest news when I get it!

It’s a beautiful day in Anchorage from what I’ve just heard on KTUU. The sun just popped in Juneau, literally as the CNN coverage ended. There is nothing more amazing than flying into an Alaskan airport on a sunny day. Welcome, President Obama!

Everything calmed down but is still happening. In Vic’s words, this could take some time but Ann is determined to beat the midnight deadline to Friday the 13th.

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a birthday on the 13th. OK, I was born on a Thursday, but I turned 1 and a bunch of other ages on Friday the 13ths…

Neat about the arrival time of the baby – imagine – the day President Obama was in Alaska for the first time!!! I can hardly wait to hear about your experience in seeing and hearing our President. And, I sincerely think that since, our current Governor Sean Parnell, chose NOT to be in attendance to welcome our President to Alaska, that his absence make national news as I think he is truly following in the footsteps of Palin. I am thoroughly disgusted with him and doubt he will be ‘elected’ to the position he is currently holding.

Welcome to the world (soon) (((baby Strongheart))). I’ve been hoping for a boy all along, but whatever the Mother of us all decides will be fine as long as there are twenty little piggly toes and twenty little wiggly fingers and fat pinch-able cheeks. Ah I can see him/her now! Gorgeous.

Sorry OT: Watched Oprah today a she showed a few very short segment of the blogger sarah interview. Palin is in person and was wearing ( your not going to believe this) a long black skirt at least 4 to 5 inches past her knees. black hose,long green jacked, hair down and it looked like to me (not sure) black sensible shoes. Was dressed like a librarian. Who is she trying to fool. Fake LOL
Barack Strongheart would be a good name, and I know you said you and your beloved pick a name already, but it’s still a good one for a boy baby, not so much for a girl bady.

Yup’ik tradition prohibits receiving gifts before a baby is born, but that is it! Ann is living in a tiny community this winter (Ugashik) and I don’t believe there are any other children there. I send up laundered, second hand kid clothes in great condition kind of regulary so Ann can choose what she likes and pass on the rest in NI or wherever. It’s kinda fun! It’s my way of recycling. I expect she’ll let us know if we send too much stuff!

Ann, may you and baby be well! CC is one lucky girl to have such a great mom and coming baby! All the “aunties and uncles” are anxiously awaiting delivery and reminiscing (sp?) about their own deliveries….
At least you are in a good place with good docs! My oldest arrived early (water broke 6 weeks before due date) and my doc was out of town. I didn’t know if he had a replacement in, but was worried that if he didn’t I would have to have the town “quack” for delivery. I told my mom that if it came down to the “quack”, that I preferred she call the vet and let him do the delivery……
Luckily the doc had a replacement and my son decided to hold onto the handlebars so my doc made it back to town!
