# 37: Inkberries, you don’t have to go as far as Alaska to see the northern lights. I saw them growing up in North Dakota and on trips across the border into Canada. They are the most amazing natural art show, absolutely beautiful and free
—————–
Thanks. We were afraid it was too hit and miss in a lot of the more “southern” areas we looked into, so figured better to plan for a place with a better chance of seeing them further north. One of these days!
let me clarify a bit, sorry – faith based government employees and politicians should act according to their conscience and what they believe in. However – I think overall, it is dangerous for legislation that affect an entire country to be determined on religious grounds especially considering the Religious Right in this country and their penchant for Big Business with No Government Oversight. It clearly hasn’t worked.
On social issues, I think it’s important to vote your conscience however – seeing what has come out of the healthcare and immigration debate – it’s clear that people can twist all manner of lies and distortions into something that is “from God”. Further proving that something as subjective and personal as religious belief should not be a part of governing a country.
It was a very ‘ busy & interesting ‘ Day yesterday at CNN.
Lou Dobb’s leaving immediately….I guess when you ratings keep you in 4th Place the public has spoken and you should be listening to them.
Just 2 hours later Missy Carrie Prejean has a hissy fit when she goes on Larry King to shill her book. She said her publicist had arranged the interview for her and she would not be taking caller questions. She got miffed. A caller, who was gay, got through and posed the question ( paraphrasing here )… Since there are so many gay people who worked with You backstage/behind the scenes ala hair and make-up to help you win the pageant and look good… don’t you think you are being sort of a hypocrite? ( She was not happy )
I think at this point was where she started taking off the mic and was ready to walk off the set. ( She’s learned from Sarah well…. same MO… I have rules)
Gee… She just doesn’t like to answer questions..? First Perez Hilton… and now these Callers…?
I don’t watch CNN, But I tuned in to see what the controversy was because the story was on the internet and they repeat 2 hours later on the West Coast.
The BEST part….which might have even been better was that A Cooper talked about Carrie’s temper tantrum on his Show with Erica Hill.
They sort of asked each other ” What was going on there ?” and then discussed it between themselves… showing parts of Larry King and Carrie and the partial clips. They pretty much said she acted like a ‘ spoiled child ‘ and the looks on their faces told the story as well. They got a little snarky there. They reported that Carrie kept telling Larry King MORE than once… ” You are being inappropriate ” ,directed at L King. And they emphasized ” inappropriate ” with some voice inflection. ( Asking a question… but without asking… What does THAT mean?) And she was refusing to answer the questions directed to her.
And Anderson posed the question to Erica…” At least she was SMILING the whole time ?” ( sarcasm )…. and then followed it up with “The smile had sort of turned into a frown there at the end… sort of a half smile”
Maybe the A. Cooper and Erica Hill discussion/segment will be on YouTube or on CNN. I really enjoyed it. They showed everybody the REAL Carrie Prejean.
Carrie and Sarah look at interviews the same way. If they don’t like the questions…. they feel they shouldn’t have to answer them…. or whine.
I wonder if Carrie will be doing a Book tour signing…. LIKE Sarah’s.
Since the discussion lately has been about Books… and very LAME ones that are out there here is a natural tie-in.
I saw these two ladies on Jimmy Kimmel last night. They happen to both be Librarians and they were very lively, perky and fun. They were a hoot. They gave out their website at the end of the Show.
The whole premise is that they encourage people to send them actual books that they come across in their travels that are very stupid weird or lame. And people do. Jimmy had about ten of them that they brought along and discussed on the show. It was a funny bit. Amazing what gets into print and published.
( that means you Harper Collins as well- encouraging such bad behavior)
So if you want some light-hearted humor to go along with your day check out Holly and Mary on their webpage and read about some silly book stories. http://awfullibrarybooks.wordpress.com/
But it IS November 12th, I would think you folks up in Alaska EXPECT snow by now….in fact, might have been expecting it a few weeks ago, hm? Do you consider snow by Nov. 12th to actually be a little late?
Just curious. All I know is that the cruise ships stopped their Alaska runs in early September.
Hey Mudpups…….look! This is exciting, another Dem may win in a very Red area. And Scarah may pull another support the ‘other’ candidate endorsement. If ya have a few extra bucks, this one is worth supporting. He’s doing really well with veteran support. I think we’ll have another winner. And the fact it’s Rushbos home turf is just too sweet.
A Warrior on a Mission in Rush Limbaugh’s Home District
“Democrats who may be worried about the 2010 congressional races have a long shot hero this Veterans’ Day in a most unlikely place: Rush Limbaugh’s home congressional district, the 8th District of Missouri.
The southeast corner of Missouri reared Rush, but it may be about to redeem itself. This reddest of districts has a realistic chance of turning blue, and the reason is former Green Beret Tommy Sowers.”
Kajo – sometimes it isn’t really snowy here till December, and sometimes snow in late October actually sticks and doesn’t end up melting due to a November rainy spell. There’s a lot of variability to late autumn in Anchorage. It was a bit unusual that it didn’t snow at all in Anchorage till Sunday, and with yesterday’s blizzard-like conditions (the temp was actually a warmish 31f) it really looks like icy & snowy streets till April. It’s unusual for the 1st snow to have durability about it that this years does. I put on my studded tires on Saturday.
This year the last cruiseshp (the Zaandam) hit Juneau on Sept 27.
W o w!! Did everyone know that Carie Prejean had a brother..?
You can be SURE that there will be no pictures of him in her book…..he doesn’t fit the ‘ image ‘ she is trying to sell. Palingates has multiple photos of him and they are a little disturbing. Kind of creepy to me. You be the judge. There is something going on with that family…
Now everybody may have a family member that is a little ‘ different ‘ but when Prejean gets up on her hypocrisy high horse and starts lecturing people about how ‘ pure ‘ she is and about her Family..? Pleeezzz!
Too bad Larry King didn’t ask her about her Brother… that would have REALLY gotten a reaction.
Levi SO has Scarah’s number. And no sh*t Scarah, we KNOW the ‘drama you are not into’ (drama queen) is bad for book sales. Make syrupy nice for the viewers and book sales, when that is over she’ll go in for a kill. Watch out Levi.
“Asked if he could picture Palin calling him family, Johnston replied, “For a show, yeah.”
Based on the limited excerpts released by “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” it’s unclear whether Palin was, indeed, extending a Thanksgiving invitation.
On Wednesday, Johnston and his manager, Tank Jones, said definitively that the former vice presidential nominee has not invited Johnston for the holiday.”
Hey that’s not just termination dust you got there! Some asked, yes it will stay on the ground til, oh, the end of April, then all melt at once (along with all the frozen dog poop).
re: the snippets of the Oprah/palin interview…wow, can you say ‘denial’? palin’s head is so far up her own butt, she can see Russia. what a marroon! hee hee hee hee…I hope she doesn’t think this is the interview that will ’save’ her…it just shows more of the same…how very unenlightened she really is with just about everything! (not that we didn’t know that already, but really)
Just watched the President’s speech at Elmendorf AFB. He was wonderful to the troops and acknowledged the civilians, including the Lt. Governor who showed up. Parnell the Puny got punked! Had a chance to get some credit and blew it. We need to school this Governor wannabe! Go President Obama. All the men and women in uniform may not agree with your politics, but they respect you. They do so because you so obviously respect them.
Watched Oprah today and saw a few segments of Blogger sarah’s interview that will air on Monday. She is in person and wearing a past the knee length black skirt and a long green jacket, hair down( did not catch the shoes but from short glance they looked like sensible shoes. To me she was trying very hard to look very grandmotherly/ christian. Wanna be Miss innocent. What a Fake.
1) Her voice is very high pitched – she is nervous, not really comfortable with those questions. Compare to the Ziegler interviews. We’re talking about a major third higher, and that in a speaking voice is a lot. I will tentatively say it’s because she is nervous that everything she says will have to match (and/or nor contradict) what’s in the book, and since she has a habit of having several different versions of stories, she has to really concentrate to remember which one she put in the book.
2) After the book is released, named McCain staffers, if they feel maligned and misrepresented, may come forward with their versions of what really happened.
3) SP has apparently decided not to talk bad about Levi on the tour and in interviews. ‘Cause that’s good PR. It’s possible Rex and Tank advised Levi to ramp up the ‘go to court’ rhetoric just at this point to see if they can get her to blow up and show her true colors or be caught in an outright contradiction with something in print in the book.
4) I had extra memory put in my new Mac, but I don’t think even that is going to be able to handle the volume of Gack I’m going to have to feed into my “Sara Palin What I Really Meant” translation software while she’s on this book tour that is, quite frankly, pathetic. But, HC knows what its got, and where it WON’T sell, and that’s all very telling. I have nothing against Real Americans who shop at Sam’s Club. But if Sarah is so great for America, she should be signing her books in Sam’s Clubs in Muleshoe, Tennessee, IN ADDITION TO large chain bookstores in Boston and San Francisco and other major markets, not IN PLACE OF.
5) Willow and Piper came with you. Really? You had them out of school how long last year, and now, how long will it be this year? Why? WHY? How are their grades? So far, you haven’t had one of five kids graduate from regular old high school. Are you paying attention to Willow’s progress? How are her grades? Will she miss any games for any sports teams she’s on? How can you possibly say you value education when you do something like this? Your children DO NOT need to go on a book tour with you! This book tour is your job (your only job) right now, and Take Your Daughter To Work Day passed months ago. Sounds like you putting your selfishness in front of their best interests to me.
Well today marked my first Healthcare protest in Newport Beach California in front of Cong. Campbell’s office. I wish I had a camera. Hopefully the moveon group will email me some pic’s.
It was a great experience. I would probably never participated in a political movement, but Sarah Palin told me to never sit down and shut up.
So I am not going to Sarah!!!!!
Thank you AKM and all the other bloggers that have exposed Ms. Palin. I knew from her first speech she was not sincere and a Big Fat Liar!!!!
Oh the snow reminds me of my may years living in Squaw Valley, Califoria home of Famous Lake Tahoe and awesome skiing and boarding!!!!!
Tonight while discussing the Palin book tour, Brett Baier on Fox showed the hit book “Going Rouge, An American Nightmare” and not Sarah’s book.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
seattlefan – I do not have a link, but they are all screeching about it in the pee zoo. They said they e-mailed Brett at Fox and he e-mailed several of them back, apologizing. Brett said he will correct the error on air tomorrow night (good, call attention to it AGAIN!). My theory is that Fox is doing this on purpose – just last week, on their website they spelled it “rouge” instead of “rogue” – also, too. Methinks FOX takes their marching orders from Repub Party (and the repubs are NOT happy with “the rogue” right now).
Watch for some more not-so-subtle “slips” on Fixed Noise.
Trying to stay on topic – we are now due for our 4th snow of the season so far…the first was in late September and the one ten days ago was 20+ inches – and we’re in Eastern Colorado! However, unlike the 28 years I spent in Alaska , the Colorado snow comes and goes – I love the 50+ degree days in January and we do have a little more light.
A previous post appears to be trapped in cyberlimbo, so I’ll just repost this part of it re: SP book tour:

Trying to stay on topic – we are now due for our 4th snow of the season so far…the first was in late September and the one ten days ago was 20+ inches – and we’re in Eastern Colorado! However, unlike the 28 years I spent in Alaska , the Colorado snow comes and goes – I love the 50+ degree days in January and we do have a little more light.

A previous post appears to be trapped in cyberlimbo, so I’ll just repost this part of it re: SP book tour:
Must stop before I burst a blood vessel …
