Palin Heckled at Book Signing Event.
It’s like a political Frankenstein movie. Sarah Palin has helped to create the atmosphere of incivility and the shouting, heckling, teabagger town hall interrupting, “You lie!” shouting, teeming masses of malcontents that has taken over the national discourse.
And now they have turned on their creator… Chants of “Quitter!” and “Sign Our Books!” are heard. Can torches and pitchforks be far behind?
See HERE for some comments on Palin’s own Facebook page from those who are less than pleased with Dr. Palinstein. Here are a couple samples:
Jordan Harris I just spent 9 hours of my day, $40 of my hard earned money on two of your books, and took the whole day off work to watch you jump on a bus and throw a half-heated wave to the crowd you were avoiding.
I have never felt so disrespected. How can you claim that you are different? You aren’t. You are just as selfish as everyone else in Washington. It breaks my heart. I thought you might be the answer to the turmoil this country is under but you aren’t. You just slapped hundreds of Hoosiers in the face. The hard working type of people that you claim to represent.
You say in your book that you chose to sleep well over eating well. At the end of the day I know that you don’t care that you wasted the whole day of some 20 year old college student who lives on their own. I understand that all that matters is that I spent my money on two of your books. I’m sure your eating well. You certainly have no reason to be sleeping well.
Julie Beightler Doll Went to the book signing in Noblesville, IN. Waited three hours in the cold to get a wristband to reserve my spot at the book signing tonight. We were told she would sign book for the first 1000 people. Not so. The event ended promptly at 9:00pm, though there were still at least 150 people left. Wasted my day, wasted money on a babysitter, and wasted my money on this book.
Linda Lewey My family (wife, 3year old, and 10 year old) and I waited for 6 hours to get a book signed by Sarah Palin tonight. She left 300 folks standing in the rain and cold without explanation or even an address at exit. That is 1800 hours of voters lives sacrificed for nothing due to lack of concern by another politician for… our time, money and effort to see a cause through. She could have invested 45 minutes and not received the boos, or sign my book chants. I know that the majority of the folks that were chanting go Palin now are returning her books tomorrow morning. What a disappointment. It is time that politicians follow through on the detail and not just be concerned with their own time. The country requires hard working Americans (that vote) to change the political landscape. I thought Sarah turning Rogue was a good thing. Following your steps to a road to success being on the cutting edge. I guess it is just in the name of her book not the fabric of her handlers.

What is sad about these comments is that these people have given up on all politicians and now just group her into the whole pack that they don’t respect. We know $arah doesn’t really care about the average person. She just wants to be one of the super rich elite that say they care about the average person while stabbing us in the back- cutting their taxes while saying they are cutting ours, etc. Too bad these folks don’t see who really cares for them and represents their interests- the Democratic party.
Gosh, Sarah quit before her term of book signing was up. Who would have guessed?
It was predictable that she would grow tired of this tour…after all, she doesn’t seem to finish anything. Of course she’ll have to rest up for her “performances at Fort Bragg and Fort Hood.
“the media whore of babble-on.”
I read that on Firedog Lake blog.
If nothing else, people will have fun with the names.
Greed cause this.
Two books for 1 plus a$1.
Anything to boost numbers of sales.
Well…
What goes around, comes around.
How soon before we hear that the tour is cancelled for any appearances after Thanksgiving?
Before Palin’s book tour, this guy didn’t have too many great things to say about her. Oh how times have changed:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-11-20/the-unsinkable-sarah-palin/?cid=hp:blogunit1
I wish someone would have chucked their book at the bus.
I have a suggestion for the people who are discontented with uncaring politicians.
How about supporting a President who ran on and continues to deliver on CHANGING the national discourse. Someone who actually cares about real people and works to make America a better place for ALL of us – not just the rich.
How about getting behind President Obama. There’s a reason millions of people recognized that he was by far the best candidate in the race, and the best suited to actually governing as President – not just spouting bumper sticker slogans.
The video and sentiments would make a nice ad, don’t ya think?
Lots of people selling their personally autographed copies of Going Rogue already on eBay, complete with hard luck stories about how they waited in line for hours to get the book autographed. 91 auctions so far!
Well, that’s one way to insure not having to answer any questions from any inquiring fans.
cold sore anyone?
GreatGranny2C, I aint taking that bet! My guess is she wont finish the tour, or it will be abbreviated, or or or….also too,.
I’m sure she’ll blame that cold sore on Todd
Signing books must have turned out to be too much work for the amount of ‘love’ she is being shown in the small venues. She wants to be on the TV. She wants to be back on Oprah.
After watching this clip I can’t help but wonder if she’s feeling a little like Robespierre?
I wonder who she is going to blame for her departure? Scheduling conflict? Librul media? Jews? Mooslums? (apologies to all moose) Convenient staff member?
When a phony plays for morons the result is always entertaining.
It is soo boring keeping your agreements.
Well…well
Looks like the folks who bought into “Sarah the wonderful” got their eyes opened to the “real” Sarah who can’t be bothered with the unwashed masses.
Only the poor people who believed in her *greatness* were suprised at her actions and now have to admit she is just a shallow shell of a woman out to make a buck..also, too.
She’s just a classless, rude, stupid, shallow woman and it’s going to bite her back really hard.
Now, won’t that be fun to watch?
I feel a strange mixture of giddiness and a peaceful calm coming over me…it’s the best I’ve felt in a week. Thanks, Quitty, I knew you’d come through eventually!
They’ve been trained by the GOP to vote against their economic interests: What’s the Matter with Kansas by Thomas Frank
http://firedoglake.com/2009/05/18/fdl-movie-night-whats-the-matter-with-kansas/
I used to visit my grandmother every summer in the small town of Hiawatha Kansas, population 5,000, and county seat of Brown County. There was a lot of pride in being from Kansas in that small town. My grandmother would tell me Kansas’s history could be summed up in “needing, bleeding, leading”: How the territory needed help from the government to fight the Indians, the bleeding referred to John Brown and the fight to become a free state before the Civil War, and how Kansas was now leading in grain production. She would say:
We are the breadbasket of the world
then fret about the price of soybeans and corn dropping, and worry if there was hail, or no rain. My grandfather had been a farmer, and though she moved to town when he died in a tractor accident, she still owned land, which was farmed.
There was a lot of pride in Eisenhower having come from Kansas, and everyone my grandmother knew of all ages was Republican and went to church. There were many churches, and for some reason she didn’t go to the one across the street because it wasn’t her church… hey isn’t God everywhere? That baffled me.
What’s the Matter with Kansas — based on the best-selling book by Thomas Frank–fascinated me because it showed a deeper side than I had seen in my visits–which concluded when I was 15 when my grandmother moved into a rest home.
———
This book was made into a film … farming is a very tough gig, and unfortunately is subsidized to be stupid by our tax dollars.
Ha ha! I said a couple days ago she’d quit between Rochester and Roanoke…can’t wait to see if she shows up tomorrow! I knew it was going to be too much like work for her.
I knew Sarah was crazy, but what about the guy who had his 3 year old wait in line “six hours” to get a book signed??? I would only make my kids stand in line that long to save their lives, treat a major medical problem.
Just went to her facebook page and did not see these comments. Did they scrap them?
Nanny nanny boo boo… although there will be someone else to blame…
What kind of IDIOT does a book tour in a bus with daily stops far flung from one another requiring an inflexible schedule that guarantees leaving disappointed and angry former fans behind?
Oh, right.
It’s OK if comments are scrubbed, they are all over the place on many blogs… Yikes Sarah, bummer…
“Going Sour” is more like it! Oh my god I would just die laughing if the bus were subject to some fun graffiti You could paint some moose with naughty monkey shoes on that huge bus and all sorts of great things. Prominently on the front and back, paint a HUGE pair of pants on fire with crowds in the background choking on the black smoke.
There’s another one: “Going Up in Smoke”. Hmmmmm….sounds familiar? Burn, Baby Burn!
To sign 1000 books in a 3 hour period (and some people had more than one) she has to sign one every 20 seconds non-stop. This is not feasible. Whoever planned this tour intended it to go badly and didn’t care. But he/she/it may not have thought the crowd would protest.
When will they learn, she is only about money.
This woman is a disgrace to all human kind. I have been following all the excerpts published and for the life of me, I do not understand what “god” she is referring to in regards to her christian beliefs. She lies about her own personal performance and slanders anyone who disagrees with her. Her babbling is based on what she herself calls “foundational untruths.”
Q: How can you tell when Sarah Palin is lying?
A: Her eyes are open.
Maybe she “profiled” someone in the line and decided to cut and run?
God could of made her “profile” someone ya know…
Q: How do you positively know that Sarah Palin used a ghostwriter?
A: There is a “g” at the end of Going in the title.
Well Gawd dang , seeing that big ass bus and hearing that diesel clatter reminded me of this country nugget. sarah is even sportin’ sh*tty hair to go with the song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx8x3LCnYZw
Let’s wait for the blame-game-express in 3-2-1
Does this mean they will have to up her meds to give her that peaceful feeling again, or will we see the meltdown Sarah we all viewed when she quit. She can’t handle it when she is not idolized.
All I can think of is Madonna singing, “You must love me” from Evita.
Quitty’s FB page is def scrubbed. All that remains are the comments from her adoring fans.
i sorta feel sorry for these folks. they really wanted to believe. course, all they had to do was pay attention. seems to me the narcissism was obvious.
Don’t cry for me Indiana………….the truth is I never left you…………
Gee, I don’t arrange book tours for a living, and even I could have told you the schedule was too tight, and she needs more time at the venues – isn’t there a guideline to scheduling? Always assume things will take longer than you actually think they will?
She will of course ‘apologize’ to her fans all while blaming on the publishing company. Actually, in part she may be right. The tour schedule is too hectic, it’s already taking a toll on her, as it would anyone. But she probably had a hand in organizing it, and apparently approved of it so …. yeah, her fault for not puttng her foot down and saying “This is Nuts!”
But apparently she approved of of SO MUCH she thought it would be a piece of cake for Trig too – and don’t get me started. I probably have the least maternal instinct of any female on the planet. Even I thought how she held that boy all the pictures I saw was just weird, and did not see what I felt to be ‘true affection’ for him. These latest “Photo-op off the bus, then pass the prop back to the Stage Hands” is making me cringe. I’ve got more, but I’d better hold my virtual tongue for the moment.
I too doubt the tour will add anymore stops (I never thought it would) so that after Thanksgiving that will pretty much be it.
I expect one or two cancellations from the current schedule.
I still don’t get a “book signing” on a military base. Or has it been done before?
Hey Sarah! Welcome to the Real World! This is what the McCain campaign was trying to save you from when they wouldn’t let you do what you wanted! Seems they were right to me. You owe a lot of someone’s a lot of apologies.
Maybe these people will understand why walking out on Alaska WAS a big deal. How do they think the people. who supported and campaigned for her, felt when she just up and quit.
Oh wait, I’m expecting too much from them. That would mean that they are insightful—–which, I am doubting.
My guess, Palin will blame her tour handlers and all will be forgiven within a day. Sad, but true.
Am I crazy, I have been following this for the last week. I am exhausted!
To those people who are trying to sell copies of the book on E-bay: it is going to cost you a lot more money to ship the book to the sucker who buys it then what he/she will be willing to bid for it. Good luck.
Went to Costco today (looking for lamps for our office) and saw the huge display of Palin’s book. No one was gathered in front; so I stood and watched for a few minutes. Nearly everyone passed on by; no lookers, no takers. Then two men in jeans, jackets, hats (kind of middle aged, white) – not profiling here, but looking like two men who might vote for her stopped and picked up a copy (just one, not one each). So I sidled up beside them and picked up a copy as though to look at it. They turned to the pics immediately, looked for maybe 10 seconds, put the book down. I grinned, “not going to buy it?” I asked in a very friendly tone. The man who had actually held the book, said, “uh, no. I uh realize .. she … needs to make money … .uh well, no.” The he said something like, “I’m tired of her … them all …” and walked away. I put the copy I was holding back on the stack, grinned and met up with my husband who saw the interaction but hung back of deference to me.
Even Sister Sarah, the Great and Powerful Ooze, can’t keep the act up forever–it’s especially hard when you’re REQUIRED to meet the icky, tacky little peasants who are idolizing you. Nice that Toto is finally beginning to yank on that curtain . . .
There are minor children in that bus!!!! Time to ship the little ones home, Sarah.
This is too funny, it made my day! Ms. Quittypants can hurl insults at everyone else, but can’t handle it when they are sent her way! She may as well take herself and her naughty monkey shoes and go home. I don’t think she intended to complete the tour to begin with. Keep it up people, let her know what we rteally think of her! Go back to Alaska, Scarah, stay there and STFU!
There’s one copy on ebay going for $100 with 16 bidders! Expensive toilet paper!
Poor little Sarah. She needs someone to write her Facebook posts, her speeches and her book. From the problem in Noblesville, she needs a ghost autographer to help with the volume. It isn’t her fault. Her Dad should have given her the name No Go and it would not take her so long to sign her name. Cut out the winks and Betchas, Buttercup and sign the damn books. Most of those folks in the line would gladly substitute Piper’s signature if they didn’t have to wait in the line.
If I were Barnes and Noble I’d be pissed that I had to refund the money to 300 people. They brought the book on the premise of a signed copy so I don’t think they can refuse a refund. Sarah keeps on showing how unpolished she is and how unwilling she is to learn the ropes of being either a politician or a celebrity, both for her is an epic fail. Just look at the difference between her and Huckabee who also did a book signing but was savvy enough to have signed books in advance at the bookstore just in case he ran out of time so people could trade in their book for a signed one. Not as good as meeting him and having him sign it of course but at least they got what they came for.
daisydem, hilarious.
I can just hear Palin screaming, Get this G.D. bus outta here, they are going to roll it. Who the F is responsible for this? Your head is gonna roll. Get me my
cold sore cream….I feel an eruption comin’ on.
Borders has it for $9.99 in Burlington VT and 40% off in Plattsburgh,NY
If 1000 people came to see me I would sign every single book and apologize to the people in the next town.
Sarah has been forgiven. She made it up to her supporters by giving them a gunny sack and sending them off to hunt snipes. They seemed pleased.
I have always said, one day her crazed fans will actually expect something from her as payback for their support, and Palin will have to deliver.
Up until now, it’s been like a love affair with someone who lives on the other side of the world. You write love letters, you whisper sweet nothings over the phone…it’s all easy….it’s all good. No expections, no disapointments, all good, all fantasy. Until you meet and reality sets in.
So much for her “executive” experience. What Sarah really needs in order to understand “her” public is customer service.
Fail.
Why is this a surprise for her supporters? She quit half way thru a book signing? Gee, you don’t say, that has NEVER happened before…..oh wait.
*rolls eyes*
I do feel sorry for them though…..waiting so long and being turned away.
But how much does it reveal about her supporters that at the FIRST sign of imperfection they are already this steamed? Fair weather friends indeed.
In the end – you reap what you sow. Sarah Palin made all these “friends” by lying, manipulating and being petty. So what she got in return were…..petty friends who got mean when she didn’t deliver. *shrugs*
Talk about timing! On the news, they just announced a teaser about “how Palin’s most diehard fans turn on her! coming after this… ” and on to a commercial.
This just goes to show ya. Let someone “be themselves” long enough, and the cracks in the veneer become more and more unmistakeable.
How to win friends and influence people, indeed. Way to go, Ms Palin. Keep up the good work.
LOVE this blog entry… just love it.
I had a friend say to me something about Palin… I don’t recall what it was, but it was not nice. I then took the opportunity to tell her allllll about our little princess. She kept saying, “Really? Really?” when I told her about all the “gates”. People will know her, and in knowing her will dislike her just as much as I.
I think it’s particularly sad that these people were so blinded that they thought Sarah actually cared about anyone but herself. But as a few of you guys already mentioned, what’s worse is that these people thought SHE was the answer to “all the other awful, lying, terrible politicians” in the world. I’d like to remind them that a) someone put the bad politicians in office in the first place, and b) if you educated yourself even a little bit, you’d see that there are plenty of politicians with good intentions who actually DO care about the people they represent (and those people are a far, FAR cry from SP).
As Maya Angelou (sp?) would say “when people show you who they are believe them”.
She’s Prof. Harold Hill
Thanks, Suckers
Love,
Sarah
The scoop is hitting the fan! The busses’ wheels are going round and round, ouch! Her fans get thrown under the bus.
I wonder if the reason she brought her baby with her was for this very purpose. So that if she suddenly felt blue, and tired of her subjects, she could wave her hand, and voila. She felt they’d understand her for leaving early because she had a baby on board.
I can just see that bus screech out of there like a bat out of h#ll on two wheels.
Seriously though you guys – I am sure this is but a (glorious) glitch. As much as I want to believe the tide is turning against her, I am sure the sheeple will be lulled back into obedience before Sunday.
I am sure she will come out with a facebook that is fawning and blames someone else for the Indiana debacle. It’s oh-so-expected now =)
We’ll see – hopefully SP proves me wrong =)
OH, boy….She’s just beginning to reap what she’s sown. But her fans should know that none of this is her fault! It was the opposition research that made her leave. Really. And late, too. Also. Darn libruls!
shadow’s heart……..good one.
In fact, you are all hilarious. I’m getting a good laugh out of all of your comments.
I am sure it will be short lived as Palin will blame someone else and they will kiss and make up. But for now, fun, fun, fun. Happy Friday. It’s time for some vino and a good laugh.
i had a lovely chat with a major at Fort Bragg this afternoon. as we spoke i managed to tell him about palins’ base and the psalm 109 bumper stickers and t-shirts. he was amazed and concerned. i told him that the f.b.i and secret service had been notified. he explained that it is common now a days to have guest speakers, authors, poets and musicians come to the p.x. at least twice a month and that ms palin would be considered just another guest. i thanked him for his service and he thanked me for thanking him. altogether a gentleman and a soldier.
Maybe Rupert will ask for his advance back lol
These people that took off work and waited in line for her deserved what they got.
(((((shadows heart)))))))))
many times i have heard Mother Angelou’s voice saying those very words in deep in my being. that wisdom, once i learned it by heart, has stayed with me for many years and saved me a lot of heartache.
MORANS!!!!!!!!!
What, no facebook response from the Quitter Queen to her faithful. Man, she must be having a hard time coming up with the next lie, lol.
Scarah, you are one piece of sh*tty pathetic work. Please do the world a favor, go home. You QUIT. AND, the ethics complaints were not filed to bankrupt you. They were legitimate! Especially Arctic Cat, you money grubbing quitter, who blames the bloggers for why she quit. Wrong.
The Quitter From Wasilla is the gift that keeps on giving. I was glad I was sitting down and not holding my coffee in my hand when I opened my browser earlier this evening. My chin literally hit the desk when I read about what happened in Indiana.
There’s a post over at TPM about an article in the AP’s in-house newsletter describing the effort they made to be the first to review Caribou Barbie’s book.
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/11/ap-details-literary-treasure-hunt.php?ref=mp
If I were so lucky (gag ) to have Quitty visit my town for a book signing I would look her in the eye and say thanks but no thanks and rip up the page she signed and then ask were is the trash can for the rest of the book.
If these people aren’t careful they may find themselves being the object of ridicule in her next book. Possibly a whole chapter too.
She will certainly come up with an excuse to give to her previously adoring fans. You betcha it will be someone else’s fault.. A dose of Reality was just administered to the delusional.
I would like to see advocates for the diabled weigh in on her use of Trig- holding him up like he is the Stanley Cup at each stop, then passing him off to an assistant. The travel, crowds and lights can’t be good for someone who needs therapy. I would think parents of special need kids would be appalled.
Saw clip of Palin on Hannity. He asked about Fort Hood tragedy. Her answer was flip, void of any facts, and then went ahead and predicted how the media, the liberals, are gonna ‘clobber’ her, and that “their heads will be spinning. This makes them crazy”. (Who started that spinning heads thing? was it Rush? ‘Cause I see it all over in blog responses).
No, we are not turning into Linda Blair from the Exorcist. We’re just calling it like we see it. But really, you’re going to Fort Hood after saying we should be ‘profiling’? I sure hope (actually, I expect) all our non-Christian soldiers will be far kinder to you than it seems you would be to them if God Forbid you were ever their Commander-in-Cheif.
If its Dr. Palinstein. then is it Megor for her lab assistant?
Scarah’s FB response:
The response on this book tour has been overwhelming. We are truly humbled, and I thank you.
I’ve been told that yesterday there were supporters in Noblesville who stood in long lines for hours in the cold and rain, and the book signing event ended without a chance to say hello to everyone who showed up. I am so sorry. We are working on a solution for those who were left behind.
I apologize.
- Sarah Palin
Of course the problems of the lines and not enough time for signing are all somebody else’s fault. It was her choice to stay and finish or go.
She chose to go.
betcha she sends em all cookies…..
And for some comic relief:
http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/cspanjunkie/parasailin-sarah-palin
Maybe now some of the sheeple are beginning to open their eyes and regain control of their frontal lobes which have sat dormant for so long due to the endless cranial mushification at the hands of Limbaugh and FauxNews.
Those enlightened sheeple are catching on to the fact that Palin is simply trying to fleece them and keep her own hopes alive for some future POTUS campaign, to which, of course, she will expect them to contribute. She doesn’t give a fat rat’s rump about all those “real Americans.” What she cares about are their real American dollars.
Why does none of this surprise me? If Palin is peeling off the faithful in 2009, how does the POTUS run in 2012 become a reality?
She has never done any kind of long term planning. It is all shoot from the hip. As a native Hoosier, when I saw that she was allowing only 3 hours to get from Ft. Wayne to Noblesville by bus, I was certain that she’d not planned well (big surprise). Under ideal circumstances this might be reasonable, but during a bus tour where lots of stuff is likely to go wrong, I knew it would be a fuster cluck. If she can’t manage a measly little bus tour, why should I be sanguine about her managing healthcare, the economy, the Middle East, or OUR NUCLEAR ARSENAL?
I want the press to cover this inarticulate, bumbling clod. The more the public sees how dishonest, incompetent, and arrogant this woman is, the less likely it is that she will ever be a serious contender for any other elected office.
What is really sad to me is that, through it all, these zealots have stood by her. All the lies, insults, petty behavior, atrocious and neglectful parenting, mean girl behavior, “miscarriages” and trash talking the President of our Country were acceptable to them, but the mere fact that she didn’t sign their damn book is enough to turn on her. Unbelievable.
Perhaps this has already been covered, but I read that CafePress has decided not to carry the Psalm 109:8 merchandise after all.
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/11/20/806414/-CafePress-out-Hoffmans-HoffmanReversing-Reversal-on-Psalm-109:8
I just sent this to CafePress, expressing my thanks:
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Earlier today, I had intended to write to you about my concern that you had decided to continue to carry the controversial Psalm 109:8 products. I was going to tell you that I had done some Christmas shopping with you last year, but would not this year. Then I read on the Internet your remarkably written communication that you had thoughtfully considered the matter in depth and would not be carrying these items after all. “That is excellent,” I thought, and went on with my day, making a mental note to shop on your site again this Christmas, and no longer feeling the need to write you.
But this afternoon, I heard something that changed my mind. I picked my daughter up from her large Denver metro area high school. There was an assembly today at which Craig Scott spoke. His sister, Rachel, was one of the students killed in the Columbine massacre ten years ago. Craig was in the school library that day, and witnessed the murders of two of his friends, Isaiah Shoels and Matt Kechter.
What we all know all too well in the Denver area is that in retrospect, much was learned about all the warning signs that the killers Klebold and Harris were troubled and escalating. Yet no one acted on any of it in any effective way.
Isaiah Shoels, one of Craig’s friends, was African American. Harris and Klebold made hateful racial comments to him before they shot him. Most believe the reason he was one of those targeted was simply because he was black.
I am moved to write you about this because of what Craig told my daughter and her classmates today that I cannot get out of my head and my heart. Isaiah’s last words were, “I want my mom.”
There is a dark and escalating undercurrent of clear intent for harm to come to President Barack Obama, and I believe for some this is simply because he is black. And there is a LOT of denial about this, and people are looking the other way.
Today, you, as a company, decided to face this head on and you made a considered and wise decision to be proactive and responsible citizens and do your part to deal with this ugliness and not provide a place for it all to escalate. We all would be well advised to follow your example and all do our part, as well.
Bravo! I truly appreciate this and I thank you from my heavy heart.
Best regards,
….
The Palinistas are upset now. But, they’ll get over it… Linda Lewy still doesn’t get it.
“I guess it is just in the name of her book not the fabric of her handlers.”
It will always be someone else’s fault, you call her aliar, she calls you a liar. she doesn’t have to explain her so called Conservative chriatian Republican credentials ever it seems. I do everytime I say a word about Sarah ‘Whack Job’ Palin.
THX
….Sarah again will dodge the bullet of accountability for her own words and deeds.
What can possibly open peoples eye would be IRS Issues or criminal prosecution. That may not even do it.
I’m trying to imagine the busdriver’s face, how it compares to him/her trying to drive through a crowd of happy folks. Bet he’s glad he’s got a job…
Palin fans going rogue is the top story on huffingtonpost with over a thousand comments already!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com
The guy who writes the children’s best-sellers “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” recently had a book-signing in southern California and signed 4,000 books. He ran over his alloted time. He didn’t stop.
If she won’t keep a promise to sign books, would she keep a campaign promise? On the other hand, why is anyone surprised?
It is all so tiresome . . . nothing but Sarah and Beck on the network news, in the newspapers, in the blogs . . . gawd, has the whole world turned into the 6th grade?
Well, I guess that means there’ll be about 150 fewer autographed books that will hit eBay tomorrow
Sarah tells her fans,
Gee, I’m sorry. I could see you all standing in the cold rain from my warm, dry bus, but I really really didn’t want to stay any longer. But hey, Dead fish go with the flow and Sh*t happens..
P.S., as long as I have your ear, send me more money.
hee hee….oh my does our idol have feets of clay?…
Syrin (and all) – they have already determined it is NOT her fault. sigh.
OK, the fans are now SURE that the angry people were “Libruls” and the event was “staged!”
“………looks to be a staged event by some liberals to somehow prove some sort of point,…….”
http://jammiewearingfool.blogspot.com/2009/11/roguish-liberal-behavior.html
I think most of the “NOISE” around this book and signing tour has been hype. In reality, 1,500 people showing up is not a lot. Plus, books are just sitting on the shelf in stores. Where’s the mad rush to buy her book?
I heard that 300,000 have been sold. That’s it?
Since when is 300,000 considered a “best seller” as the media keeps describing it? Considering that most of those were almost free and/or part of a bulk conservative buy, I just don’t see why this is considered a success.
Sign our books! (Kiss My ass) Sign our books! (Kiss My ass) Sign our books! (Kiss My ass) Sign our books! (Kiss My ass). you betcha, also too.
Oh ya, BTW, I live in red, red, red Utah and there has been No mention of Palin or her book this week. No hype about it’s release…nada….not even from the local Fox channel.
This is a nice vid from a news station in IN.
http://www.mefeedia.com/news/25815332
Apparently someone thought it was an acceptable substitution to hand out to the people who didn’t get their books signed a note card with her autograph on it!
Now, if they had those ready, doesn’t that mean they EXPECTED THIS and Sarah knew AHEAD OF TIME that this could happen? And NOW she is so sorry?
I don’t know what other solutions there are except canceling one or more venues, and that’s going to disappoint fans in the areas she cancels on and cheese off the bookstore that have already bought 3 palettes of her book (I presume HC would buy the all back!) I thought the schedule was WAY too tight (I don’t even schedule book tours for a living, and I could easily see how fan disappointment from this tour was inevitable).
I’ll be more generous to her over this mistake if she a) doesn’t try to pass blame; and b) manages not to repeat this mistake (or make new ones) on the rest of the tour that leave her fans disappointed.
continuing from my post @4:02 – IF there are any palinbots who will not buy into the “fact” that the video was “staged by the libruls,” they are free to choose option #2: Palin HAD to leave because the tired workers at the bookstore wanted to get home to their families.
ANYTHING but scarah’s fault – ANYTHING!
I am stunned she did not say “her” baby was sniffling and NEEDED her NOW.
Missed opportunity – does not yet know all the uses of prop.
Ooopsie! Wrong video link, tho’ I hope you were edified by the Dunkin’ Donuts story.

terpsichore, but now her crazed fans believe it was the fault of liberals and a set up. But hey, I’m sure they believe in unicorns and magic elves livin’ in trees who bake cookies, but that’s not real either.
Sheesh.
A quote that I have always thought, when used at the proper time and place, was brilliant is: “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”
I have a feeling that this crowd, and all of the good people from Alaska who are starting to flex their muscles, believe that too.
I wonder who she will blame for getting Iran and Iraq confused during the Hannity interview?
I really didn’t know people were this stupid, or at least so easily duped. It depresses me.
lettersfromeurope: Sad thing is, she won’t even have to blame anyone since her fans don’t care. I was on Huffpo and a bunch of Palin supporters were saying, so what if she mixed them up …Obama said 57 states.
I kid you not.
They don’t care that she is stupid.
@lettersfromeurope – Hannity will be blamed cause she’s perfect doncha know.
Can the Mudflatters that are near to these book non-sihnings make a little money on the side by selling torches to those waiting in line?
Another Palin lie…She said, I’ve been told that “yesterday” there were supporters in Noblesville who stood in long lines for hours in the cold and rain, and the book signing event ………
I’m sorry. Does she want us to believe that she DIDN’T see that mob of people standing outside and she couldn’t hear them chanting? The door was open on that bus for a bit, so she knew full well, at the time, that they were pulling out and leaving people without their books signed.
Oh my….I just found out right now. Give me a break. Also too, on that other video, she greets the audience, “Welcome Patriots”. HUH? If you “believe” in Sarah, you are a patriot? In not, your are not a real American?
LOL, Lame Scarah, “I’ve been told”, ho ho ho, that’s the best you can do? ……..they are NOT going to buy that. You were there, they were talking to you! outside your bus. Don’t pretend you didn’t hear. Do you really think they are going to believe that? NO. Why did you do this to them? It was YOUR choice to leave EARLY.
How about why. Cook up a “why you screwed them over” lie. They waited for long hours, they had wrist bands. You failed them. You f*cked up. You QUIT on them.
They want to know WHY? Even though it’s too late, so sad, so sorry, the damage is done greedy girl, you created your monster, you feed it.
A lame *ss apology is not going to cut it. Seriously, are you that dumb? and arrogant?
Who is going under the bus this time? Can’t wait to find out.
I am feeling truly sad about poor Trig. In the photos of her carrying him off the bus in his green and black striped shirt, he just doesn’t look good. She isn’t supporting his back and he appears to be dazed or, as has been suggested in the past, blind. He deserves better than to be dragged around like Paris Hilton’s chihuahua.
Anyone keeping track of her *friends* number on Facebook?
Are the numbers going up or down?
cool…it’s about D**M time!
oops…D**N
Trisha@108, “Oh my….I just found out right now. Give me a break. Also too, on that other video, she greets the audience, “Welcome Patriots”. HUH? If you “believe” in Sarah, you are a patriot? In not, your are not a real American?”
Yes, she’s been doing this and it is starting to gall me no end, mostly because she doesn’t know what else to say (limited vocabulary of buzz words and talking points), but it does make it sound like “You people who came out are real patriots and those who didn’t, well, they’re not”.
And that’s how the seeds of divisiveness get sown.
She’s such a cretin.

Q: How can you tell when Sarah Palin is lying?
A: Her eyes are open.
******************************************************************************
Martha, please don’t say stuff like this without a “spew” alert! I almost shorted out my keyboard!
Sherry Johnston story up at ADN.
http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/1021703.html
Welllll………………..they froze their butts off………………..but I’m laughing mine off!!
That’s what you get for believing in Palin……….no sympathy from me.
If Sherry Johnston can get 3 years, then surely Sarah should get three times three in the penitentiary. Sarah’s book and tour were likely moved up so Sarah (ha ha) could get some good press before Sherry’s sentencing. Now that Sherry is sentenced, all is fair game!
I especially enjoyed what one of her (formerly) adoring fans, Dawn Hatfield Ament, had to say (emphasis mine):
“TOO BAD I was ‘Palienated’ today in Noblesville. I waited SEVEN hours and never got my book signed. Only 600 of the 1000 promised wrist bands got in the door. Such a HUGE disappointment!”
Any time I can, I am so going to use that term… “Palienated.”
It’s not Sarah’s fault that she left the rally early. She got an emergency call that Katie Couric’s confidence and self esteem was wavering. When she heard that, she decided to drop everything, jump on a plane (after jumping on the bus) and run to her sister Katie’s side. As much as it pained Sarah to abandon her fans like that, the bond of sisterhood shared with Couric is just too strong to ignore.
Go sister power!
I can’t wait to see who Sarah will blame for the book bungle. It’s always somebody’s fault but hers. Let me think of some reasons for leaving early:
The bus driver was honking the horn; he had to get to the gas station for refueling before the station closed.
Her taco wraps were ready at the nearby takeout place.
The kids were having trouble with their homework assignments and she promised to help them with their school work before reading them another bed time story.
Her hand hurt.
Those people were coughing on her.
omg~ watching Lawrence O’donnel sitting in for keith…Watching $arahjump on oprah’s couch (mocking tom cruise) how funny…looks like paylyin’s groupies are turning on her…wnk, wink..
terpsichore, She’s such a cretin.
OMG, Hilarious. It’s so true.
I also heard her say, “You all are so brave for coming out here”.
Say what? Brave for going to the Mall?
Like those people had to cross enemy lines and the liberals would attack them?
Again…..more seeds of divisiveness. Everything she says has a subtle
(or not so subtle) divisive message. Us against them. If you are not with me, you are against America. Errrrrr.
I’ll pay someone with the swine flu to sneeze on her.
And not sure if you noticed, but go see Gryphen’s post about the hearing. He went.
Check out this portion of the interview with Bill O’Reilly. It’s hilarious.
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200911200052
Be sure to watch tonight’s last 2 segments of Countdown with Lawrence O’Donnell when they are available on the MSNBC site – they are hilarious !!
Loved the Jimmy Fallon clip, where he was talking about Sarah calling President Obama “backasswards” – he replied that Sarah was “uckingfunqualified”
She is the biggest laughing stock in America right now, and she doesn’t even have the brains to recognize that fact.
“We are working on a solution for those who were left behind. ”
Anyone else just a tiny bit creeped out by how she worded her Facebook apology? It’s just an odd way of putting it (not that any of us should be surprised since she continually mangles the English language!).
The reference to ‘left behind’ immediately brought to my mind all those books and movies that are so popular with the evangelical crowd. And the whole quote made me think of that scary dominionist/rapture stuff. Maybe I’ve just been reading too many articles about the Glazier/Muthee/Assembly of God movement but we’ve all heard about the hidden messages in what these people say.
Maybe what she REALLY meant was, “We’ll try and get some signed postcards for all you poor suckers who don’t make it to Alaska at the End of Days when our dear S’Error is elevated to her rightful place as Empress of the World.” Too blatant perhaps???
But the funniest video of the Oprah-Palin interview ever might be the one on “Tonight”!! Don’t miss it!
Evidently the staff for Conan O’Brien (he of the unfortunate fake Levi Johnston Twitter joke) took the original Oprah-Palin interview video and tweaked it a bit…cutting out a bit here, a bit there — and the end result is sidesplitting.

Liar!!!!
I just watched Coundown, I laughed so hard. It really puts her ‘scary’ back into perspective.
“I also heard her say, “You all are so brave for coming out here”.
Say what? Brave for going to the Mall?
Like those people had to cross enemy lines and the liberals would attack them?”
Well, it was probably their first time in a bookstore.
boodog, me too! Those clips were hilarious! All of them were priceless. Apparently they are going to make that an ongoing segment.
I love MSNBC!! So, down in your gut funny! Sarah, you wanted attention and now you are getting it. Watch what your hand call for…..and all that! Teehee!!
I just read a very interesting post over at The Edge of the American West about Caribou Barbie’s misunderstanding of the Seward purchase of Alaska, thought you folks might find it interesting.
http://edgeofthewest.wordpress.com/2009/11/18/palins-folly/
The Tonight Show clip….freakin’ hilarious.
The funny thing is, these events are quite difficult to organize, and it’s no surprise that it’s turned out to be more challenging than she probably thought.
Is the turn out more than they expected? That’s going to start costing them a lot of unexpected expense. How much does it cost for that bus, anyway? If they start needed to add security for crowd management, their costs are going to skyrocket.
I’m betting she’s going to cut the tour short. Quitting, again.
I hate to be a buzzkill, but honestly it doesn’t sound like the whole crowd was chanting. More like a few very vocal people near the camera. I do think that the disappointed facebookers are genuinely disappointed, though, FWIW.
On the O’Riley interview, did you see the way she jetted her jaw out when he said, “Well, Biden has a lot of experience”. Classic Palin.
There was a lot of word salad in there, but I do believe that she just called President Obama spineless. I’ll have to listen to it again, but she was rambling about elitist. The quitter who couldn’t handle bloggers is calling the President of the United States spineless?
She still said she would put her executive experience up against Obama any day….even as a 1/2 term quitter. She names her small town mayor job as proof!!!!!! Delusional.
On another note, she did have work done on her face. It’s become very obvious this week on her TeeVee interviews.

I’m so worried about him.
I’m worried that he’s confused by all the stimulus…..the shouts, the flashes, the frenzy.
I’m worried that he can’t track what is happening when he is displayed and then handed off to someone and withdrawn into the dark bus.
I’m afraid that he will get the flu. I’m afraid that he is not seeing, maybe not hearing clearly.
What kind of sense will he make of all of this? How will he develop without routine, stability, therapies, consistency?
I see my own boy in him: the drooping shoulders and splayed legs from low muscle tone, the baffled expression, the difficulties in understanding the world around him, the need for calm and focus and dedication to make the connection and to experience as much growth as possible in the early part of his life.
I had a baby like Trig. A baby with Down syndrome. What is she doing to her boy?

I live near a large metropolitan area, and I have a friend who runs an independent bookstore. We also have the usual chains, Borders and Barnes and Noble, plus more independents. Every weekend, the newspaper lists all of the books signings and appearances going on around all of the local book stores. We have had Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, movie stars, writers who are also celebrities, and press covering some of the more important people. In all of the years that I can remember, no one misjudged the crowd, failed to supply either enough books or fail to autograph each book and talk to each person. Never. With big names, they have done the wrist band thing, and I have never read of people with wristbands being turned away. Perhaps these smaller town bookstores were not prepared to cope with large crowds. And, who ever drew up the busy bus schedule should have left more time, to allow the book signer time to actually sign the books and smile at each person.
My friend with the book store did suffer the insult of a rather fussy author, who complained that the table the book store supplied for book signing was too small and had a wobbly leg. It is the worst story that has been told about a book signing, just to give you an idea.
trish @ 139, arrogant palin forgets that in 2012, obama will have 4 years as the chief executive of the whole USA. her puny 6 years as a small town mayor (where, as i understand it, the complex infrastructure is managed at the county level) and the one year she spent as gov before she mentally checked out) are frozen in time.

Perhaps this has already been covered, but I read that CafePress has decided not to carry the Psalm 109:8 merchandise after all.
I’ve noticed several blog tonight that have announded they have canceled their CafePress deals.
That’s what’s going to make them change their minds – money. Not decency or respect for the office.
Take a look at this awesome article, that uses much of the rest of 109 and totally reverses the Taliban’s point.

I give her a couple more weeks before she resigns from the book tour and tries to sell the tour bus on eBay.
She needs Daddy along to tape up her fingers so she obviously can’t play flute /sign books.
@95 Lori in Los Angeles
But, IF the event were staged, then Ms. Palin had to have been in on it. How would the libruls know that $arah would be leaving early so they could start their chanting and booing? Just sayin.
barackobama.com is sending out emails…
Right now, Sarah Palin is on a highly publicized, nationwide book tour, attacking President Obama and his plan for health reform at every turn.
It’s dangerous. Remember, this is the person who coined the term “Death Panels” — and opened the flood gates for months of false attacks by special interests and partisan extremists.
Whatever lie comes next will be widely covered by the media, then constantly echoed by right-wing attack groups and others who are trying to defeat reform.
As we approach the final sprint on health reform, we can’t afford more deception and delay. We need to be ready for anything — and have the resources to respond with ads, events, and calls to Congress when the attacks come…
Earlier this month, Palin publicly said that she hopes health reform will be “dead on arrival.” And since then, she’s been working fiercely toward that goal.
On Tuesday, Palin went on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show where she outrageously — and falsely — suggested that Americans could “face jail time as punishment” if they don’t buy insurance.
Palin has many more interviews scheduled on Hannity and other conservative shows in the next few weeks, with more platforms to go after the President. As soon as she does, the rest of our opponents will likely parrot those attacks.
We need to be prepared. And we’re counting on you help.
How did we ever allow our country to reach the stage where pathetic palin becomes a demi-icon? R or D, we need to take our country back from the these blessed extremists.
Word to Rachel Maddow… get rid of Spitzer. A sleazebag like him has no place on a show like yours.
Latest email to me from SarahPac. I signed up and was banned immediately, but inexplicably, I am still getting their mass mailings. LOL! She is begging for $100 donations for a “free” signed copy of the book. I guess those poor folks in Indiana didn’t know about this special deal.
Here is what they are saying: (I preface this paste job with an Oh Gawd!)
Sarah PAC Supporters,
This is just a quick note to let you know the offer of a free signed copy of “Going Rogue: An American Life” with a $100 or more donation to Sarah PAC ends Wednesday, November 25th at 12:00PM EST.

Good point. Can you imagine how embarassing it would be for her to try and compare their experience after Obama’s 4 years as Leader of the Free World.
Well, gosh golly, I was mayor of a tiny tiny town. Then, I quit my job as governor.
So I went to Barnes and Noble tonight intending to sneak a peak at you-know-who’s book. I couldn’t do it! I wandered the store, found several really nice gifts for nephews, then walked back to where The Book was being kept. I cringed, I reached out my hand, I couldn’t take it off the shelf! It was like if I took it down to look at it, I’d get contaminated! I rifled through the pages with one finger for a second and thought WHAT AM I DOING? YUCK!!
Then i remembered the same thing happens at the library when I see Limbaugh”s books or Beck’s books in the “new books” display. Blecchhhh!
I left disgusted with her, and thankful for AKM’s bravery in reading and summarizing for us.
Then I read this post and felt a warm fuzzy version of schadenfreude.
Thanks AKM!!!
Mother who thinks (141) – you said it. It is very sad.
Kate in Canada (146) So mavericky to have your dad (the coach) help you cheat.
Seattlefan, before you spend $100
It’s now selling for $4.95!!
So, 1000 wristbands were handed out in Noblesville, IN and only 600 people got in to have their books signed. Palin up and quit even though only about 60% of the work was finished.
Who could have seen that coming?
I think that is $ 100 for her signature (very pretty one at that) and the book is included for free. Plus shipping & handling charges.
It’s not her fault that she couldn’t sign all the books. She is just so tootin pretty, qualified, and the rock star of the Republican party. Dogonit! Ya betcha!
$100 is an awful lot for a dart board, (darts sold separately).
I don’t think she wrote the facebook apology either. She must be in melt down, I hate book signing, this is hard, I’m tired, not having fun, I want to quit mode.
Quoting Shannyn Moore, (my shouting) “SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP”.
I could be mistaken, but did I misunderstand the voices on the right?…are they saying the ones who are protesting are the liberals? …talk about no spin or fair and balanced.
for a year subscription to a certain conservative mag ($35), you can get Sarah’s book for free…. hhhmmmm…nope…they’d have to PAY me to get the darn thing to use as a door stop…
This is just like Sarah! Those poor people! Left in the cold inhalin’ diesel fumes in the rain… Missin out on having something to auction on E-Bay in time to buy Christmas Gifts!
Dang-It!
I’m sure Sarah prayed to God, and he told her it was her destiny to quit!. She does have a tight schedule, interviewin on tee vee, with lots of rules while makin up Gov’mint policy on facebook, oh and that beautiful family to care for…
I got home from work and the first story I read is that Palin is being heckled by her OWN supporters!!! This is tooooooo funny! This alone made my day.
I hope someone in the News can interview some of this disgruntled book buyers.
And since we know Sarah likes to take shortcuts based on the past.
Will Bristol be going on tour with her with her ‘ Thank You Note ‘ card signing skills?? They could have a few hundred extra ‘ pre-signed ‘ books already prepared on the bus and they just exchange pre-signed one for those waiting in line.
They don’t get to meet the Author personally like ALL other Authors do it…Oh well. At least it won’t inconvenience Sarah…. because WHO is more important here. Sarah Fans may be finally realizing the answer to THAT question.
Love the way she refers to the people willing to stand out in the rain for hours waiting for her to sign a book as “true patriots”, as well as brave. LOL. Only Sarah has an ego large enough to equate a willingness to buy a book an autographed book about her with being a patriot.
Don’t everyone get cozy with CafePress yet – they still have a number of 109.8 items on site for ordering. Discovered they still have over a dozen items listed for sale.
I did a search for Psalm 109 and a page popped up. Some of the items say they are not available but the tank top and ceramic travel mug is. When I saw the mug was available, I just happened to scroll the page, and at the bottom of that page was about 10 items still available. Clicking on the tank top, I think I revealed about a dozen more.
I don’t recall whether these items had all been listed as Psalm 109 Mug or T-Shirt, I didn’t pay attention. They are presently all called One Term Please but with the Psalm 109.8.
There is another item there of Psalm 109.3. Now I have no idea – is this appropriate?
Psalm 109:3 – They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
I’m making a list of the items I find but there seems to be a number of new ones on each page I’ve clicked on. In fact towards the bottom of the page I just noticed that is says: Psalm 109 designs available on 323 products.
Can someone let me know regarding 109.3.
Thanks.
I’m sick to death of the word ‘patriot’ being thrown around as if you have to be an evangelical to be patriotic and love this country…it’s wrong and I’m tired of it!
Their used to be a old game show on the teevee machine called “What’s my Line” where the operative phrase was ‘Will the real ‘mystery guest’ please stand up?” Where ‘mystery guest’ was the name of the person the panel was trying to guess.
Well, the real Sarah Palin just stood up today in Indiana. She doesn’t give a single crap about any of these people. She’s got their money and that’s all that matters. Pay off the Ghost writer(s)…and start counting the rest… end of story…the rest is all hand waving….
@CW in CO – great letter to Cafe Press. I hope they keep their word and pull all the offending items from their site.
With regard to Quittypants, I just have to laugh. And the notion that the protesters were actually liberals causing trouble is even more funny. They are so delusional.

The Canadian National Post (a conservative rag) flew a reporter to Noblesville. He ended his story when her bus pulled IN. He called it the book-signing and baby-brandishing tour. He was all soppy about a couple who were thrilled that they had a wrist band. Bet he wishes he’s stuck around for the rest of the story.
I took a peek at the signed books on eBay. Two ads have photos of the signature- it’s flamboyant!
“I’m glad you all will get an opportunity to read my words, unvarnished and unfiltered,’ she said.” ~ Sarah schmoozing the Patriots.
(Via Politico article —scratch that— Via Politico Fawning.)
The Fawning is titled: “Sarah Palin embraced in Indiana Republican hub”
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1109/29755.html
Funnily enough, the video accompanying the Fawn has NO disgruntled sounds emanating from the gathered (is it 1,000 or 5,000?) folks. It shows S’arah talking to the assembled fans and then her getting on her bus. As calm, cool, and as collected as can be. And adored, I tell you; simply adored!
Nary a “boo” or a “Sign our book!” chant to be heard.
The blogs on the right are posting this video to show how adored the one they adore is. And, how, obviously, the libruls [ptui!] are “making stuff up.”
I’m a bit confused by the video, though: How quickly does sunlight disappear in Indiana this time of year? The reason I ask is:
The Politico video clearly shows that one minute she’s out there, addressing the crowd (in what I can only assume is a “See you later, Patriots; thanks for comin’ – I’m headin’ off now, but I’ll keep thinkin’ about’cha and what great Patriots ya’ are as I travel across this beautiful land of ours” farewell). Up above her bus, in the background, the sky is a shade of grayish-blue I’d normally associate with, oh, I don’t know, maybe about 5-5:30 pm of a mid-November eve at that latitude. It’s really quite pretty. BUT, the immediate next frames we seamlessly see in the video, is her getting on the bus and the sky is totally, and I mean TOTALLY, black! This complete lack of sunlight happens all within the space of 2 seconds!
So, you can see where this might confuse me. This sunlight deal. For those who live there –or who’ve been there on a visit, or whatever– is this instantaneous nightfall a phenomenon unique to Indiana? beth.
Those books and signatures for a $100 donation; does a Certificate of Authenticity come with it ?
As many have said, there is no guarantee that Sarah is the one ACTUALLY signing the book when you order it through her PAC.
But we all know she would NEVER do anything dishonest, would she?………..(crickets)…
And sppeaking of that bus – does that say Narcissistic Personality Disorder, or perhaps even Malignant Narcissism ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism
Well, leave it to Sarah to quit one more thing. I remember getting wrist bands to pick up my Harry Potter books at midnight at Borders and at Barnes and Noble. The way the stores work is that if you have your wrist band and you are in line, they stay open till everyone has a copy of the book. So if people didn’t get their signed copy, it’s clear to me that she is the one who quit. Figures.
And the way the crowd turned on her and her fans wrote about it just shows that she has stirred up all that anger. People who are so angry aren’t always particular about where it’s directed – they’ll turn on anyone in a heartbeat, and apparently did.
beth @ 175 I didn’t see SP saying goodbye, thought she didn’t.
Could that be from another location? However, since the book-signing stopped at 9 PM, it certainly would have been dark.
NY Dem @ 177 – Yes, speaking of that bus!! Makes me wonder what that thing costs. I read on Daily Finance.com the other day that was talking about her not really making all that money on this book deal:
minus fees to her literary attorney, Robert Barnett, somewhere between $2.5 million and $5 million.
Looks like he will earn his pay! On top of that she has to pay her ghost writer, whom she does not even have the courtesy of a by line on the cover. Then the cost of this bus!
And I just cringe every time I see her parading that poor baby then quickly handing him off to someone. I guess this might be a “damned if you do, and damned if you don’t” thing. If she left him home, someone would complain she should be there taking care of him. But that’s exactly where he should be, not out in those crowds. Rant over.
That bus is so over the top and really says, Hi, my name is Sarah, I have NPD.
What other authors have paraded around in a bus with their photo larger than life plastered on the side?
They are trying to make a big splash because, honestly, 1,500 is really not that many people. Books are not flying off the shelves. Go to any store and you can see that there are no crowds buying up her book.
Some people waited 8 hours in the cold and rain for Sarah Palin’s autograph. That’s really sad.
Waiting for an autograph for hours with a three year old child? Waiting for an autograph even though some couldn’t even afford it? This is stupidity. Perhaps that is Sarah’s appeal. It reinforces the belief that anyone with luck, narcissistic personality disorder, and a personal saviour can have open doors to riches and fame, and one needn’t sacrifice their prejudices or ignorance in the process.

No, sweets, I didn’t hear her say “ciao” to any of the crowd, either. I was writing about what was shown in the Politico video…her talking, all nice like, and then getting on the bus to a female fan (expressing the feelings of the entire crowd?) yelling “I love you, Sarah”. The impression given by that video is that she makes some sort of nice farewell speech to ‘the Patriots’ *immediately* before she departs from her adoring and happy followers.
The Sarah-love blogs are posting the Politico video to show, proof-positive, there was no crowd ‘grumbling’ when she left the signing…that she’s – again – being smeared by the jealous, libruls; it was a set up by the libruls and librul sites like the Mudflats are posting a video that ISN’T TRUE to make her –dear, beloved, do-no-wrong Sarah– look bad. (See: “Roguish Liberal Behavior” ~ http://jammiewearingfool.blogspot.com/2009/11/roguish-liberal-behavior.html )
In the Politico video, you can’t clearly hear any of what SP is saying. So, in context of the video, I ‘made up’ the gist of what I think Politico is wanting people to think she is saying *just before* she gets on the bus to be whisked off into the night. From other videos of the event, this –her addressing the crowd at *that* point of the evening– is obviously NOT what happened.
I have a feeling Politico (and Sarah-love sites) are hoping no one will notice the difference in the color of the sky in their video: one second, grayish-blue (consistent with 5-5:50pm-ish) and the next, pitch black (consistent with 9-9:30pm-ish). Politico did some not-too-clever video editing and is presenting the video *as if* the time-line for what they’re showing is seamless – that it’s an accurate, second-by-second, video of what happened when she quit signing books and left the mall in Indiana. Fail. beth.
I watched this last night on Countdown and had a good laugh. So she quit early and this is what, like the third stop on the tour? Hilarious. A few more of these and no one will show up. Next stop, she’ll quit with which letter? Also loved the “non” apology. Keep it up Sarah!
i’m sure hoping that the ‘rest’ of America catches on (to what the thinkers in Alaska have long known) at last with this ‘make believe I’m the people’s choice’ bs SP is pushing now. I am SO sick of her, but its kind of like watching a rattle snake…..you don’t like it but there is some level of fascination as to what it will do next. Even tho I know she LIES (or perhaps is only exercising the woman’s perogative and changing her mind on a dime)but I can’t stop listening. I wish she’d just go away, and get off my tv screen, my computer screen, my email, my newspaper, my Facebook, my Twitter, just GO AWAY SARAH PALIN!!
Re: sunset in the midwest: 4:30-ish CST; 5:30-ish EST.
I don’t know if anyone who had a wristband was abandoned, bereft of autograph in GR, Mich the other day. The mall in Kentwood is at least very large, roomy, and covered, so at least people wouldn’t have been wet and angry. Apparently, they book her for two hours at a time, and then all it a day. So either they need to keep people moving, or they should cut the number to 750 from 1000. I dunno. I’d prefer that some of the true believers have their faith shaken at about 10 on the Richter scale.
they should have stacked the books under the bus tires and made her sign them
Thank Gosh I never would give Palin or her cause a dime. The book can be sent to me and it would be a great fire starter for the fire pit on a beautiful evening in Alaska. Wish more people would have seen this in the beginning and stopped her! Good Luck ANYONE who stands up to this woman. She should not get away with smashing so many lives.
Fran:
Not only Sarah. Rick Santorum, using a made-up gravely voice out of some Marines movie from 1943, talked about how our brave troops fought and died in WW II and they stood up and made the ultimate sacrifice and so on. Then said, can you stand up? Can you sign a check for Rick Santorum?
It was a classic.
Here’s the URL. Sarah’s in the right party, all right.

I know that the thread is dead, but I wanted to just show some contrast –
A couple of years ago, Terry Pratchett came to the National Book Festival in DC. We got in line for his autograph with our then 2 year old son (it wasn’t so bad – we were on the National Mall, so my wife & I took turns taking him for walks. He was tired, but not upset by the wait). We were waiting for hours, and every 15 minutes or so, the volunteers came by the lines and told us the rules: one book per person and signatures only – no dedications.
When we finally got to the front of the line about an hour after the signing was supposed to end, Mr. Pratchett had a bag of frozen peas on his wrist, and he still said – “Wait a minute – any kid that young who waited for me that long deserves a dedication”, and he signed my son’s copy of “Where’s My Cow” with “Dear Evan: Here’s your cow. T.P”.
It was a little thing – it took him all of 15 seconds to do. But he did it while in pain at the end of a very long day, for the sake of someone who probably won’t even know who he is for another 5 years. He did it because his fans are important to him.
Would anyone like to take a bet on Palin doing something similar?
