Meet Sarah Palin’s Death Panel.

Tonight I attended the taping of Moore Up North, and what an interesting evening it was. All I have to say is tune in on Saturday (KYES Channel 5 at 4pm) and buckle your seat belts. If your couch did not come with seat belts you have two days to get some, and install them.
One of the hazards in writing a bunch of untrue and mean things about people in a book is that those people will decide that maybe they don’t like it very much. And maybe when they have an opportunity to tell their stories, and say what they think of you, they will.
The panelists were part of the Under the Bus crowd that got slammed by Sarah Palin in her new book Going Rogue. Andrew Halcro “the effete young chap” who ran against her for governor in 2006 was there, and told us that “under the bus” is the new “on the bus.” Insightful and hilariously funny, Halcro fans will not be disappointed.
Anne Kilkenny, known in the book as “the Wasilla town crank” and a “Birkenstock-granola” type with a flower behind her ear was there too. Kilkenny was the author of the email about Sarah Palin that went viral in the first days after her nomination. Delightfully self-effacing, and with a great sense of humor, Ann showed up with a bag of granola, a flower behind her ear… and a crank.
And finally, the coup de grace from the Death Panel is John Bitney, long time close friend of Palin and a member of the inner circle until they had a falling out. Palin eviscerates him in the book and describes him as “not being able to keep food off his tie,” and addicted to Blackberry games. He talked about how Sarah Palin had potential and squandered it. This is someone who is coming from a place of a very personal sense of betrayal. He had a powerful moment when he said, “I have had enough. The rules of engagement have changed.” His commentary throughout the show is remarkable. You won’t want to miss it.
And of course, Shannyn Moore was wonderfully funny and guided the show with great skill, right down to the last segment which included questions on index cards from the audience. One of the questions – “Is Sarah Palin sane?” You’ll have to tune in for the answers from the panel.

Well…full disclosure…I’m biased. But…tonight’s show was phenomenal. There were several clips that could make the national networks. To see these panelists…having their turn. One word…PRICELESS…I can’t wait to see the finished product-Saturday at 4pm on KYES Anchorage!!!

In an obvious reference to her infamous response to CBS anchor Katie Couric during the Presidential campaign, Hannity asked her what she actually reads. Palin replied – “I read Newsmax and the Frontiersman and Wall Street Journal and everything online. I absorb the news via many, many sources.” “I still think she reads Highlights, but just won’t admit it. “

Tonight I tweeted a link to Halcro’s latest blog post “on AGIA & Palin’s common sense re: economy: ‘it’s commonly known Palin doesn’t possess any’” — my tweets also update my FB status & a strange contact of mine immediately commented, “I watched his little “reading” of her book, and at this point all the man is doing is name-calling and finger-pointing like some schoolyard bully. She stepped down, and is moving on with her life. Why isn’t he?”
[Gaping in awe at this characterization; coming to self-awareness & closing mouth before I start drooling all over my chest.]
Uh… who called who “effete”? And… she’s “getting on with her life”? How? By becoming a professional vindictive victim?
Then in a second comment, she claimed he was a jackass & had been one since birth.
Whoa. Someone drank the koolaid. And what’s really confusing is that this person otherwise gives evidence of being relatively liberal, pro-LGBTQ equal rights, etc.
This person has done this whining on my FB wall about people continuing to criticize Palin before — she apparently thinks that once Palin ceased being gov, that she should be off-limits no matter the crazy politics she still spouts. But tonight I got fed up. First person I’ve ever blocked in FB.
A certain conservative who also commented on my wall tonight with the criticism that some liberal blogs automatically think all liberals are right & all conservatives are wrong (this in reference to Shannyn’s & Mudflats posts about the Wheeler report) might be happy to know that I have a great deal of respect for Halcro. And that so do these same liberal blogs he was critical of.

I was starting to get McCain/Pain stuff when I happened upon Anne’s email so I immediately sent it out. THANK YOU ANNE! My liberal friends loved it & I haven’t heard from the conservatives since. I’m starting to think we should do the same with Palin. All that she has done so far is repeat GOP daily talking points memo. She hasn’t done a decent interview since getting taped. She is a quitter. She is rather stupid.

Thanks AKM, for telling us about this show. Wish I could get it on TV, but will have to wait for the tubes. I’ve been reading Mr. Halco’s blog for a while and enjoyed it. He seems very smart and I love his wit in the readings. He is also very handsome. Anne and John seem like people it would be nice to know. What S’error said about John and food on his shirt reminds me of one of my best friends. One of my best friends and I went on a trip recently and the first meal we had he got on his shirt (a normal occurrence). He was fussing about it, and I asked him if he remembered to bring a shirt for every meal. He laughed so hard I thought we’re get kicked out of the restaurant. This friend is very, very smart, successful and witty.

I am begging for someone in Alaska to get that on YouTube. I’m a political blogger myself and it sounds like to watch this would be ‘Christmas come early”. I’m a faithful follower of the Mudflats (found you the week Sarah got the nod for V.P. and have been an avid fan ever since).
I considered her interview with Oprah a fluff piece so I’m waiting to see what comes of the 20/20 interview tonight. The name of the show suggests a clear vision of the subject. I needed a damned seeing eye dog after watching Oprah.
Please let us know when it is on YouTube. I check in to AK sites several times a day. My friend bought me S’error’s book of lies, yet I have not cracked it yet. I have read your cliff notes, great stuff, and all the puppies comments.

I would love to debate Sarah Palin and have an interview with her. I am a real American andnot a celebrity show host. She would get the real deal! I read Anne’s letter again. It was interesting to read the comments. Most people said Anne’s letter rang true after watching SP’s speech at the Rep. Convention. Some folks lashed out that Anne was jealous, etc. But, I was impressed with the majority that was supportive and thanked her for the information.

This is a Dream Team, not a Death Panel. It’s nice to see Bittney finally coming to the table. It is somewhat admirable that he stayed quiet this long out of (however misplaced) loyalty to his long-time friend. But spill the beans John, it isn’t about you or her anymore, the fate of this nation’s discourse could be in your hands.
I think people should revisit the Gubernatorial race where suitable candidates such as Knowles and Halcro had to lower themselves and suffer Sarah’s juvenile, confusing and challenging tactics.

Caribou Barbie does not seem to be dealing with the adverse consequences of her book full of bitterness very well.
Maybe she will learn that passing judgment on your fellow human beings leaves her open to having her life judged. What a sad and lonely life she must lead.
I am concerned about all of her kids, because they will bear the brunt of CB’s peevishness over the trashing she’s taking, but it’s Piper that I worry about the most. It was clear during the campaign, especially toward the end, that Palin was exposing that poor child to stuff that no kind her age should have to deal with and expecting from her the kind of support that a mother should be providing a child, not the other way around.
Bristol would do well to get herself and her child out of there ASAP, and take Piper with her, if she can.
As far as John Bittney and food on his shirt – my daughter calls that “Feeding my clothes!” Hope that helps! Hee, hee!
