The Shannyn Moore Show – Live Blogging

21 11 2009

It’s that time again! Saturday night, when a tiny ray of light shines down on the deep dark horrible place that is normally….conservative talk radio. For the next two hours, you can tune in, call in, live blog and otherwise immerse yourself in The Shannyn Moore Show.

Senator Mark Begich will be calling in from D.C. to talk about health care, and the senate vote today to begin that debate!   Thanks to all of you who called your Senators and made that happen. The vote passed 60-39. We needed every last Dem to do it.   Now if they could only vote like that more often we’d actually be getting things done!

Live Stream it HERE.

Time:  5-7pm Alaska time, 6-8pm Pacific, and 9-11pm Eastern.

Give a call, and live blog it in the comments!

The number is 907.274.5297. The toll free number (in state only) is 866.610 5297

Did anyone just watch Moore Up North on Channel 5?  What did you think of the Under the Bus panel?  Leave a comment!  For those of you anxiously awaiting the YouTube, it’s coming soon!

A comment from someone in Rochester NY today said there was no one of color for the book signing. It was posted on a Rochester local TV station site

Well the last 15 minutes came in without cutting out. Must be because all those that were frustrated gave up and that allowed my feed to run uninterrupted. As far as the callers from the right, I get tired of the same old bs logic used to try to discredit healthcare. Shannyn really tries to listen to them and let them feel they have a legitimate stand. I would have hoped that we would ALL have been educated now as to who the good guys and bad guys are and where we need to take back control. Frustrating! Oh well. I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving!

Folks, I’m going to stand up for the station – give em a break. Shannyn and AKM have become BIG news. Many people are going to try to listen, either via this blog, Gryphen’s or Shannyn’s (I may be missing someone else who linked), but it is “all good” because there’s lots of people who want to tune in. So we suffered one night, they will have it together next time (they better or Shanny – you need a new station!)

    Go Alaskan Bloggers!!!!!

SMR that’s just what the Republicans want the rest of us to give up the fight. It is discouraging,I stopped going to those hate sites stations long ago.I listened for awhile just to be fair but some of the people just amaze me with how they can be shown something is false and still say you are wrong.
I finially went on firefox and at least got the last 15 or so minuets of the broadcast just fine. Will have to remember that for next week.
Why would any army camp want palin there, she is so divisive and she incites people to violence. That’s all they need is another person to go there and encourage violence .my wish for her is that the rapture she believe is coming will come now and take her away, end of problem as far as she is concerned.

I guess that I don’t understand why the first question to this sort of person isn’t “so, why are you calling/listening?” It’s obvious that there are many that call in to spew hate, they have some ulterior non-productive motive, so I just don’t get why Shannyn engages with them. The best defense is offense — you’ve got to keep asking them questions to expose their unintelligent palin/rush/hannity/beck talking points which can be easily refuted.

Good point SMR. I’m surprised there isn’t anyone at the station [producer?] that doesn’t screen the calls, by asking questions….what do you wish to discuss with Shannyn, for instance.

Who needs idiots asking if she’s a communist?
Did the guy just learn the word? Ridiculous, I would have cut that guy off in a flash. It’s her sandbox and no morons, please.

Even lowly sports radio call in shows screen the ‘too drunk and high to speak’ caller, for instance. Or yet another basher.

I think a funny moment was gerald… who was speaking in a low voice and Shannyn asked if it was a 900 caller, before he identified himself as a minister. LOL It was the 1-900 Minister, I jest!

I wouldn’t be thrilled if Shannyn moved to the other station. Don’t feel like downloading Microsoft’s starlight. Feh on microsoft products, thanks. [from a Mac user]

Great show and go Alaskan bloggers, indeed.

But you have to admit it was funny when Shannyn talked about rules and being nice right before she threatened to hand Greg his ass.

Did you catch the part when a man caller, said something about wanting to know two things (radio transmission was erratic, I think that’s what he said), and Shannyn said: “black lace and 5′7″ – There was a moment of silence – lol

OT- Just got back from visiting a friend. She told me on the news tonight, it was reported that Palin’s book sales are the highest ever for a “non-fiction” book. (yuk-if true). AND President Obama has lost almost 20 lbs, which is causing some concern about his health. (disturbing)

Just wanted to share so we can keep those topics on our radar…

    CG Says:

85 – sauerkraut: “Lynn… grew up with Palin. People are so disconnected.”

What was that? Was it a comment from a caller? What was said?
    Or someone that you know?

I have nnot had much time to read this blog or participate much lately. For those who may read AKM and other Alaskan blogs, or who are moaning about health care and why should they have to pay for someone else..yada yada…let me tell you a story.

I am Canadian, as many of the readers here are. My husband and I both have good jobs. We also have health insurance…universal health care. The insurance from our respective employment pays for extra like..chiro..dental…optomotrist…semi and private rooms and meds.

Hubby had heart surgery on Thursday. He came through very well, and is going to be hale and hearty in no time. We had several doctors…all of them we were able to choose.

Our flights to the city where this had to be done…paid..my hotel room…paid…..my meals ….paid….taxis to and from hospital and airport…paid.

Those who argue against health insurance, you do realize this would bankrupt most people with no insurance? Please…think abou this. My taxes may be a little higher than yours, but I know my neighbour will get the same health care I get.

An american that works for the same company as me says he doesn’t even notice the difference in taxes. He and his wife (who is Canadian) are having a baby…..so you can bet, he is greatful for our insurance.

GM from NC. If you get a chance, read Frank Rich’s column (NYT) today about $P “book”; it’s excellent.

And thanks, AKM, for reading the “book” so we don’t have to!

Now, I admit, I’m none too thrilled about the Senate health care bill, and it’s going to be interesting to see how things progress at this point. I’m more for universal health care, and I can tell you, as a Medicare recipient, that having the insurance companies handle the Rx part (D) of it is not thrilling. Those of us who receive a govt subsidy because we’re below a certain amount of SS are being kicked out of many plans because the companies are raising premiums already (even though Bush & the Republican Congress gave them, what was it, $13Billion in subsidies to handle it?). I’m afraid the HCR bill in its final version is going to be just another boondoggle for the insurance companies, who are, in the meantime before 2014 (when it’s first implemented) going to raise premiums, etc. through the roof. They have 5 yrs to do it, and you know they will. If the plan winds up costing more than predicted, we’ll certainly know why. I just can’t see Congress just doing something like health care for the people without enriching the pockets of those who helped write this bill and who in turn contribute to their re-election campaigns.

Pretty much SOP for conservative political books – lots of other books get the same treatment. Plus some retailers are already selling the book at pretty significant discounts.
