Boots on the Ground – Palin in Rochester, NY
24 11 2009Here’s a quick “boots on the ground” report from Mudflatter barracuda78 who attended the demonstration outside the Sarah Palin book signing event in Rochester, NY. Anyone else out there attending an event, don’t forget to email pictures and write-ups! Thanks barracuda78! Now that’s a barracuda we can believe in! *wink* More to come soon.
*********************
We never saw Sarah. She musta snuck in the back door.
Some of the chants by protesters:
Keep your rosaries off my ovaries; Keep your theology off my biology!
Women must decide their fate; not the church! not the state!
Racist, sexist, anti-gay; right wing bigots go away!
RACIST ,SEXIST, ANTI GAY, SARAH PALIN GO AWAY!
There were probably, if we use Fox News’ method of numbers present 1.25 billion people. Did I say billion? I mean 125 protesters.
Alot of the demonstrators were elitist college students from University of Rochester where they conduct medical research using the dreaded fruit fly(remember SP”S press conference about the fruit fly)and Rochester Institute of Technology. I was quite happy with the protest…
There were words thrown between the two crowds that were separated by police on foot and on horses. We were also told to stand in certain areas. After leaving the demonstration, I drove around the corner to the back of a gas station. Still no bus, but plenty of police cars.
I mentioned Mudflats and told them wonderful stories about the Alaskan Bloggers.
There were a few palinistas who came over to the demonstrators and we had a few discussions where I demanded that they give exact examples of what they were talking about…one said if we cut taxes everyone would be able to afford health care..I said what taxes are you going to cut…he stumbled could give no tax cutting examples, I said are you gonna cut taxes to keep our roads safe, etc., etc., etc..?
One Palinista thought we should stop helping students go to college…I said oh so we can’t compete in the world…we are already behind other countries as far as college education….I told this Palinista that I run my own business and cannot afford health insurance. . I was a little p.o.’ed

GreatGranny2C…I sent my email to Fort Hood (saying that insulting the Commander in Chief of the US military should not earn (unpatriotic) Palin the right to sell her books and promote herself at Ft. Hood)…I also attached the Soltz article.

great job Barracuda78! If she did mistakenly let slip that she would be running she is a politician and should not be let on the base she is no longer a private citizen.Wonder how long before she throws her religion under the bus and goes with Greta’s that think they come from people who long ago came to earth from other planets. She is using people any way she can.despite what van whatever his name is she does not seem to be setting the record straight with the truth but with a 7th grade mean girl tell all with bits of truth amongst the lies.

Fabulous report, barracuda! Great to see the pushback on Palin!
RE: OMG #44 and trisha #13……Palin’s comments about PO’s “lack of acknowledgment of our troops’ efforts” are sickening. I would just like to add my appeal to yours that other Mudpups read Jon Soltz’s column and pass it along. Palin has gone way past the joke stage…..She’s virulent and septic for our country because of her lies about anything connected with PO. Stop laughing and push back on this ignorant liar!
November 24th, 2009 at 4:00 PM
Palin is so far right with any luck she will BE left…behind….so far behind she’ll actually THINK she’s in front……without even a view up the lead dog’s tail end……..where she belongs. I for one would like to never see her or anything about her on the front page of my newspaper EVER AGAIN!

Trisha #31 and lee323 # 51
Great article, with some references of Obama’s record regarding the troops. It also has a link to an article published in 2008 about the shaby treatment of returning troops in Alaska, SP cannot brag about this one.

Listening to that ignoranus(sic) on the Greta/Fox video made me feel sick, but a detail struck me, she talked about having recently won the Artic Cat complaint. I wasn’t aware of this, and as I have technical difficulties leaving a comment on Diva’s site, could someone update me here on it ? Thanks

Did any of you get on the dish with Andrew Sullivan? Has a video of Quitter Palin with baby doing an interview on the bus. Watch the BS. The people in the lower 48 wouldn’t know what to do without good ole Sarah.

RaRaRochester!! You ROCK! After growing up in Brockport, NY and spending most of teen years hanging out in Rochester I’m so proud to see such an educated protest!!!!!! Palin wouldn’t know what hit her at UR, RIT or any other college in that area!!!!! PROUD TO SAY THAT IS MY HOMETOWN AREA. Barracuda78…AWESOME JOB!!!!!
November 24th, 2009 at 5:04 PM
My brother lives in W. Henrietta and Rochester, you’ve done me proud! I tried to get him to go and protest, but he would have none of it. Ah well, looks like it was a good turn out- the best yet. Wonder why she chose that town?

I, too, sent my email to Col. Danner about Palin’s visit to Ft. Hood. Aren’t they suffering enough right now? To bring this woman upon them?

GreatGranny2C Says:
November 24th, 2009 at 3:20 PM
“In the meantime, please send messages to the Public Affairs Officer at Fort Hood. Explain why you feel she should not be allowed to appear there – including her admission to Greta, her negative comments about POTUS, as well as her latest lies, and include any links to stories that show and tell what she’s been saying, such as the latest HuffPost linked in this thread.
Here is the PAO’s email:
benton.danner@us.army.mil
——————————————————-
Thanks for the link, GG2C. Here’s what I sent:
” To whom it may concern:
Ft. Hood is still recovering from an unspeakable tragedy. I’m shocked that you would allow a disruptive and divisive politician such as Mrs. Palin to bring her political circus to a place of mourning. Just today in an interview with Fox’s Greta Van Sustern, Palin accused the military’s Commander in Chief, President Obama, of not acknowledging or caring for the fighting troops. Absolutely false and inflammatory statement!!
For a military personnel’s take on her comments, I invite you to read Captain Jon Soltz’s excellent post in which he elaborates the many ways that PO indeed has the welfare of our troops as a main priority: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-soltz/what-color-is-the-sky-in_b_369522.html
In a time of war, does the military really think it’s in the best interests of the troops and the nation to appear to give support to a “political sniper” against our Commander in Chief by allowing her to conduct her borderline-treasonous political shenanigans on our bases???”
November 24th, 2009 at 5:20 PM
That video with baby on lap and book in hand pretending to read to him………OMG………fake, fake, fake. She even holds that baby like a prop. There is no emotional connection between Palin and Trig. The way she occasionally flips through that book? FAKE.
Besides, as someone on another post mentioned, that bus is moving. Shouldn’t that child be in a car seat?
November 24th, 2009 at 5:23 PM
Lee, most excellent!!!!!!! I’m on it now.
Really good point about criticizing the President in a time of war. Remember the Bush years and the Dixie Chicks….and anyone else criticizing him…for that matter.
November 24th, 2009 at 5:28 PM
This is all John McCain’s fault. Sarah President? People should think twice. If people from the other side will decide to stay home, instead of going to the voting booth, then just know that the stupid will slide in that chair.
Result of that, expect world war 3, because SP had already said she will go to war with Russia, over Georgia, when she was running fo GOP VP. She will attack Iran, May be who knows what next, as she claims with her religion witches that she is God sent. 2012 will be the end of the world.
I gota start packing my bags.
AKM you can come with me. I will not leave you behind.

Thank you Lee323 I haven’t been able to get my e-mail,outlook express, working since my old computer went down so I had to copy and paste a lot to get it sent but get it sent I did.
November 24th, 2009 at 6:14 PM
Many, many thanks to all who have sent emails……and that was a fantastic letter Lee! I just hope they do reconsider. If you know of others who don’t follow this blog, but believe in treating our POTUS (and soldiers) fairly, you might want to encourage them to also send letters.
Maybe we need to start sending messages to McCain and give him plenty of links. I really don’t believe he read Sarah’s book and I’m not surprised that he refuses to say anything against her. I do believe he realizes what a huge mistake he made, but whether he’ll ever admit it, or simply tell her to STFU, is questionable.
Keith played a clip on Palin’s religion, the rapture, Israel, Billy Graham visit, and so forth. I think Howard Dean is covering it shortly also.
Again – thanks for the letters!

Thanks everyone for your comments of support…And thanks to AKM for putting this out there…
I had a client tell me today that she heard on CNN that the Ms Palin’s book tour has changed things up due to the Rochester protests. I also heard there was some egg-throwin’ going on inside the event The story about covering up SP’s books at the store is great…we can all do little things like that, I thought about knocking some on the floor, there was no one around it would’ve been real easy to go rogue…time to turn the tables on the Queen.
I found this protest by googling “protest for SP’s book signing in Rochester ny”…so this may help you if there’s a book signing near you…there are also anti-SP facebook pages
I quess I’m feeling a sense of frustration and loss in a lackof national leaders coming out and pushing back against SP…where are the Gloria Steinems, ,Jesse Jackson’s of the world?
I have to catch up on all the other craziness everyone is talking about. Have a good evening and a Happy Thanksgiving

I just came from an out of town Costco today. There were lots ( and I mean a bonfire’s worth) of Palin books there along with Glen Beck’s book. Actually, there were also boxes and boxes of them. Nobody was looking at them, however. I stood there observing for a bit and watched quite a few carts go by. Nope, no Palin or Beck books in the carts. When I finally went to check out, I checked the people in my line and nearby lines. Nope no Palin or Beck books. Finally, one elderly lady came up with Palin’s book in her cart. One. Yep, that was it. One.

As someone who studied at the University of Rochester, I give a big digital (pun intended) high five to all those socialist, liberal, hippie students. I wish there were more protesters like them. I know that many people advocate simply ignoring Palin, but in the absence of dissenting views, the crowds of brain-dead sheeple appear to be more significant statistically than they actually are. If Palin and her attendant media faced such crowds at every stop, she would begin to seem even sillier and more unimportant to everyone.
Students at both those schools would be far too smart to be taken in by Palin’s imbecilic platitudes. How any sentient being with a fully functioning frontal lobe could find her even remotely credible is beyond me.
November 24th, 2009 at 8:48 PM
@wake up America
I did the same thing at my very own Costco in Anchorage on Dimond. I appeared to be shopping for cameras, but I was really monitoring the giant box that had Sarah’s books piled up high. No takers during my 30 minute “camera shopping” experience. Three days later the pile of books was still as high as ever.
Costco shoppers are far too savvy for Sarah.

Easily a Billlllliiiiionnnn protestors. (Little finger to the lip). Possibly Eeevilll protestors? Were any of them wearing lasers?
Stop. Stop.
Delighted to to see some upchuck from Rochester, which I have always considered to be sort of a reality-based area. Hmm, “upchuck”, as in, perhaps “Shut Up, Chuck”?
You know, I think I may be decohering. Sorry. Bye.

I just finished writing a note to the PAO’s e-mail address. Also hope to get some friends to do the same. She does not deserve the Welcome Mat.
One happy note—-Katie Couric (sp) was invited to the State Dinner at the white house tonight. I am sure this will make MS P happy!!!!!!! Ha ha ha ha!!

Lee323…great letter to Danner!
I looked on Politico this morning to see if they added any comments from Jon Soltz under their coverage about Palin’s claims against Obama’s military support. Nothing! In their story, they do quote a rep. of the DNC but it’s not nearly as effective as Stoltz’s article.
November 25th, 2009 at 3:40 AM
From the article on the Roanoke book signing .. “Any fears of a similar incident in Roanoke soon proved unfounded: Palin arrived early for her 10 a.m. book-signing at Barnes & Noble, and over three and a half hours she worked her way through every one of the nearly 1,750 people who waited in line for her autograph.”
I call BS … 8 signatures per minute for 3.5 hours straight? One signature every 7 seconds?

PA~john @75 – good Catch! That is in “Palin speak” – you know how they like to stretccccccchhhhhhhhhh things!
Today I am blogging and crossing my fingers Winky gets dissed off the next base. I fear that Alaska is going to become the militia cess pool of the world – will she ever stop violating this state? United We Stand Americans and Alaskans. She is pulling the “fear” card out and using it shamelessly. Just when you freaking think you’ve heard it all.
It’s like being sucked into a dirty endless sleezy whirlpool. And, to top this off, it looks like the Governor may share the same religious and independence principles as Winky. Peckin’ Aye
