This is my brain on Rogue. Any questions?
I have finished Chapter 5 of Going Rogue, also known as The Thumpin’. I feel like my entire central nervous system has had a thumpin’. And the digestive system too. Also. I cannot bring myself to proofread my post tonight, so it will go up tomorrow morning.
For those of you kind souls who have been commenting and emailing notes of support and concern, I believe that if I have survived the hideous caustic poison confabulation that is Chapter Five, I can probably survive anything. So, consider me out of the woods. After this, it’s teeny Chapter six, the Epilogue and the Acknowledgements. And then I’m free! Free I tell you!

Oh gosh! I thought this tripe was only supposed to be 4 chapters. Take is as you can AKM, we are contented to wait so that we don’t have to read it ourselves. You deserve a medal!!!!
Thanks for taking one for the team…
There was no way i was going to read it.
I think I speak for everyone when I say thanks for the Cliffs Notes & that we’re so relieved that you survived the ordeal. Although I expected her book to be be an exercise in revenge & revisionism, after reading your posts I was struck by the level to which she had sunk in excoriating her enemies (real or perceived).
I have seen so many comments from people who say that her so-called base will find out what a petty person she really is after reading her book. However, unfortunately those people seem to revel in pettiness and will cheer her as they read every snide remark and insult she wrote. It is repulsive and I am glad that Alaskans who have information are coming out to expose her lies. Thanks again AKM but I’m afraid that my curiosity has also gotten the best of me so I have to find someone in the valley who has a copy of the book that I can borrow. I refuse to contribute to her & Todd’s new hanger project so I may have to (gulp) ask one of my Paliban neighbors.
You are a tougher one that I, Gunga Din
I hope you are sleeping soundly and that healing wonders are happening for you. I have happily romped through “Going Rouge” twice! Once for learning, and then one more time for the sheer delight of reading.
There was a squib in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch this morning about how some people are confused about the similarity of the two books. Heh, heh, heh.

Ditto ♥
Apparently the poll numbers for SP have risen dramatically. mid 40′s. sorry about that.
Tina Brown, bless her, says that people respond to her vitality, even if it’s based on ignorance, and that Sarah Palin is becoming the leader of the party of “we’ve been stiffed.” I thought that was the head of the Democratic party in Alaska
Oh wait, I guess the party of “we’ve been stiffed” would actually be the entire state of Alaska, and the National Republican Party.
I can’t wait for her to run for the Republican nomination for President, when the first candidate actually says bad things about her on stage at a debate. tee hee.
i must reiterate how grateful i am to you for doing this. no way would i spend a dime on palin and i seriously, seriously doubt that i could stomach reading her screed any other way. yet i am glued to your posts, as well as every other review, commentary, presentation of facts, etc. i couldn’t watch oprah and i couldn’t watch walters and i wouldn’t watch hannity, but i just can’t seem to stop reading about it all. it’s like a train wreck, but also a warning of things to come. through all this there must be a way to penetrate the ignorance of her fans and actually effect some REAL progress in this country. if palin gains real power – i don’t know, we’ll be hyperthrust back into the dark ages. unthinkable.
OT: still waiting to watch the “palin’s death panel” video?? thank you AKM!!!
You have suffered doubly….first you had to read it and take notes and then you had to rewrite for all of us here the “crap” that you were able to glean from the heaping pile of “CRAP” that is this “?book”? Take all the time you need to regain your inner peace. We understand how difficult this has been for a person who writes so wonderfully well. We all “heart” you, AKM.
I can only bring myself to reading small excerpts at a time, it is so revolting, like a scary movie, I have to hide my eyes. Thank you for breaking it down for us, and thank you for being our eyes up north.
Keep it up. I appreciate your work.
Thanks for slogging through this crud, AKM, so we wouldn’t have to.
Everyone should remember, though, that Hit ler had proportionately the same level of support for his ideas back in Germany in the 20s; it took a while, and I know this isn’t Germany, but there are a lot of disaffected people out here, just like the “good Germans” of that era. Even though people talk about a “third party” (or parties), the fact remains that the 2 party system prevails, and people will still take the D or R side in every election, and we know where the “Tea Party” types will wind up, since their leaders really are Republicans (Dick Armey, former majority leader, anyone?). We simply can’t underestimate how they will capitalize on the discontent around the joblessness numbers, foreclosures, and every other factor, including the perception that Pres Obama is favoring Wall St., not Main St.
AKM, thanks again for all that you suffer through for us!
Too bad there is not a way to wash the ick off your brain after slogging through that sewer of a book.
Hopefully a good night sleep will help you shake off some of the nastiness you have endured.
I thought of you when I read Frank Rich’s op-ed piece in the NY Times. He said “You don’t actually have to read Sarah Palin’s book, to have an opinion about it,” and he gave Liz Cheney (Fox) and Ana Maire Cox (Air America) as examples. I expect a lot of people who went to the trouble and expense of buying the book, won’t ever get around to reading it.
I applaud your devotion to accuracy and fair play. You really do have to read the book to crticize it. And it takes real dedication to slog through this ungodly mess masquerading as a memoir. Most of us couldn’t get through a single paragraph without throwing the dang thing across the room.
As an aside, a couple days ago, the Wilmington NC morning news anchor said that Sarah Palin would be in Ft. Bragg signing copies of “her novel.” Obviously one of the writers at Channel 6 believes that SP has indeed written a work of fiction.
Sarah Palin, making Danielle Steele appear literary!
When you have completed the world salad wedged between two covers I highly recommend a very hot bubble bath with a ton of epson salts and your favorite mind candy reading (even if it is an Archie comic book), after soaking, use the mitts and scrub all dead skin off, stand up, lather rinse condition hair and step out of shower … do not dry off … use your favorite oil and lotion in combo – slather all over body and put on fresh jammies …. light a sage stick and wave it around (perhaps use it to start o fire with the book) and I think you will be purged and purified of having had to read the “book”.
Thank you for doing this for all of us!!! You are a strong person : )
“Free at last, Free at last..Thank God Almighty, Free at last” …ok, ALMOST free
…
My sister-in-law is a Palinista in Fla (OP area), who recently wrote on her blog how Thankful she was about her family, cuz her in-laws were going to be punished by God for the way they’ve acted since my mother’s death…I was struck by the similarities of her thinking and Palin’s…. It’s someone else’s fault, Revenge by GAWD for those who object to their greed and disagree on how things should be…( my brother and she couldn’t WAIT to rifle thru the house and take what they wanted….it’s one of THOSE type of estate issues, woman wasn’t even removed from the house before they were clamoring for certain items) … for somone who claims to have Christian Values, Palin’s greed and willingness to throw other’s under the bus , there are many out there that think the same way ….and have become her base…
My fellow Americans,
Do you all remember how embarrassing it was for the rest of the world to see our fearless and brainless leader, Dubya, the Poke of Crawford, George the Second?
It was a horrifying and humiliating eight year long exercise.
And now this. This stupid ass book.
Yesterday, I got my regular email from the Democratic National Committee and, brace yourselves, the OFFICIAL party line on health care reform is to counter what “Sarah Palin is saying on talk radio, interviews and book tour.” Great. Now they are taking her seriously. In all of the hundreds of DNC emails (the standard ones the DNC emails to donors or those who just want to receive one) I have NEVER seen the organizers mention Palin. Now they seem to take her seriously after the death panel B.S.
May she be the nominee.
May Obama supporters rally again.
May she just GO AWAY!
Dude, you’re gonna need a bathtub filled with chocolate after this ordeal. Trust me.

Obamanos Says: the OFFICIAL party line on health care reform is to counter what “Sarah Palin is saying on talk radio, interviews and book tour.” Great.
*************************
Nah, they just hope that Palin will motivate the faithful to give money because they have been very tight since the Democrats went all right wing over health care. I won’t give any of the party apparatus a dime until they clean house and come to grips with the fact that abortion IS a health issue. I am not alone on this issue. It isn’t going away.
Love these wedge issues in funbd raising!
AKM – you have one stiff spine!
Remember to detox after reading!
AKM at least you’ll have a day to recup before Thanksgiving…wouldn’t want ya to regurg your delicious holiday meal…now that this is behind you, you’ll enjoy your feast all the more. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Thank God you’re done with that stupid book!
I strongly urge my fellow mudpuppies to scroll to the top right hand side of this page and click on the donate to Mudflats button. If you believe, as I do, that AKM has truly “taken one for the team” please donate what you wish to a “Spa” day for AKM” Our girl needs some SERIOUS pampering!!
Read the following from the AP on Palin’s book sales. Note two things,
(1)the “official” who gave them the sales figures was not authorized to do so, and asked not to be identified. (2) This would not be sales at the booksellers level, but sales to booksellers from the publisher. If bookstores loaded up on Palin’s book expecting big sales it doesn’t mean they will sell them.
How many of these books were purchased by Rupert’s Newsmax as give-aways?
If the person was not “authorized” to give out this information, how do we know that it’s even accurate? Sounds to me like they are “leaking” big numbers to try and push the idea that this book is HOT!
From the AP,
“Going Rogue” sold 700,000 copies — a number that includes pre-orders — in its first week of release, according to a publishing official close to the former Alaska governor. The official was not authorized to release the sales figure and asked not to be identified.
AKM, you are a saint. I couldn’t even imagine reading this tripe. I’d probably have to gouge my eyes out. I hope you find something soothing to reward yourself with. I’ve said it before, I knew this piece of trash would be filled w/petty vindictiveness and lies. But I am truly astonished that she would promote, with a smile no less, something that makes her look SO bad. We are really living in upside down world…
Also, about AP story,
It states that it is one of the best non-fiction book (first week sales) in history compared to Clinton’s 900,000 first week. However, those numbers for Palin’s book include 2 months of pre-release sales.
However, they forget to mention that the book has been deeply discounted—even before it’s release, and has been a free giveaway for over a month now by Newsmax. The hardcover of Clinton’s book, My Life, is still $25 on Amazon after all this time (2004).
When it’s free, or dirt cheap, they are going to sell a lot more of them.
I am sure there are more gumballs sold every year than Ferrari’s.
I wouldn’t say that 700,000 books (wholesale) is all that hot. They still have to actually be sold (or pawned off) to someone at the retail level.
OT, but fair on an open thread….
((On Soapbox)))
Below is my letter to CafePress and their response about the selling of Psalms 109:8 material. I still can’t believe they used a poll to determine what course of action they would take!
I will no longer order ANYTHING from ANY vendor through CafePress.
Because your site allows Obama Psalm 109:8 materials, I can no longer
have ANY of my money going to you. I was an Obama supporter, as
I voted for George W. Bush — i don’t care who the President is,
this type of hate speech and wishing for the President’s death is
inexcusable and I refuse to support any group or vendor
(including you as the site host) who allows and implicitly supports
this type of “call to action”.
Sorry to be sending you no more money and sorry that you did not
exercise better judgment.
Bear Woman
And the response:
Thank you for contacting CafePress.com!
On November 20, 2009 we made the decision to remove all
Psalms 109:8 designs from CafePress.
The public debate started with questioning if the design was
simply intended to be criticism of the President or something
much worse. The discourse was surprisingly civil online, given
the heated nature of the topic. Given that, and the positions of
groups like the ACLU and the Anti-Defamation League, we
decided to let the dialogue play out publicly before making a
final decision.
Last night we posted a poll on our blog, read through the emails
we’ve received and weighed the nature of the calls we’ve received
on the topic. In the process we also learned that many of the original
designers of the Psalm 109:8 designs had already decided to remove
them on their own.
General consensus has proven that the design does point to a
broader interpretation of the Psalm and thus has been deemed
inappropriate for sale at CafePress.
We try to create an atmosphere of self-expression. Many of the
things we encounter are not black and white, but grey. When the
dialogue is civil, we want to let the larger community work things
out rather than making an uninformed ruling. The dialogue has
played out and common sentiment has reached agreement – this
merchandise is not appropriate.
Thank you all for your input.
If I see someone wearing 109:8 material, I will ask them what it means. Depending on their answer, I will then ask them if I can wear and do the same thing when I disagree with a President they choose…. It will be interesting to see the look and answer you get.
Of course most will say “their” president is okay, mine wasn’t.
Folks — we have to meet the hatred head on. Not with equal hatred but by getting people to think about what they are saying and asking if it’s okay for them, then it will be okay for me if I disagree with their choice.
(((Off soapbox)))
From ADN yesterday. I’ll get link.
Former Gov. Sarah Palin’s book, “Going Rogue,” blames her first legislative director for moves early in her term that helped poison her relationship with state lawmakers. But the ex-aide, John Bitney, calls Palin’s account a fabrication and said he wishes his former boss would leave him alone.
Reading her book sounds like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer: It feel will so good when it stops.
Free at last!
We owe you a debt of gratitude AKM. I hope you have a very rested thanksgiving weekend – Palin free!

Hasn’t she thrown enough Alakan’s under the bus with this book to make them angry enough to get her emails released?
This too will end!
in case I’m too busy tomorrow…
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my fellow Mudpups!
Have a wonderful holiday.
Don’t worry about the proofreading AKM, you have done more than enough for us.
But, Lainey, Tomorrow is Wednesday! Don’t rush the big day on us too soon. I almost had a panic attack! hahahaha
I would like to wish all of you wonder mudpups a Happy Thankgiving too!
SP really has put her foot in it this time. This will take awhile to get the stinky “stuff” of her red monkey heels.
She is like the anti-Oz, no brain, no heart, and no courage and no desire to find them.
Would someone take that baby away from her. Could that interview with trig on her lap “reading a book” been more awkward. Good Grief.
In case you missed it, a good read from none other that the WSJ!

Since I am neither an US citizen nor a resident anywhere in the US I do very much appreciate your hard work reading and outlining that … uhm .. narrative. It seems to be an intellectual kind of torture. As a German netizen I am amused and scared by the rise of Ms Palin and the likes of her. Imagining her in the White House is a nightmare. So, please, keep up your good and fruitful work for the American public. After all they deserve better ‘politicians’ than SP, BG, RL etc.
BTW thx for ‘friending’ me on Fb.

Only a week ago, pundits were laughing Palin off as a joke and now this:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/23/AR2009112303216.html
The thought of a “President Palin” could never have happened in my parent’s day. Like them or hate them, successful politicians of yesteryear were expected to know something, have thick skin and present ideas that might just work for the betterment of society.
Sarah can’t take the criticism of the media elites or the Washington insiders, she can’t handle it when held to task by members of the Alaska legislature or the citizens of the State of Alaska…can you imagine how she would handle the Iranian leadership calling her as they already see her (which isn’t too complimentary I’m quite sure), or when North Korea doesn’t like US policy, will she refuse to talk to anyone because they’re just a bunch of meanies with their “gotcha’ questions. When the UK press calls her an idiot or the French media calls her something even worse, can you imagine her hissy fit? Or how about Turkish relations (and Sarah I’m not talking about the pardonable ones), can you imagine her negotiating her way around that essential and sometimes difficult relationship with word salad accompanied by flirting and winking? I know she’ll handle everything with her “common sense” approach but what if the rest of the world doesn’t view her vision as anything even remotely likened to “common sense”.
Does the GOP want to win the White House so badly that they are willing to risk the country in order to do so. Can’t they find in their ranks an intelligent representative that doesn’t wink and whine? Or do they expect the world to actually end in 2012 so they think it’s OK to go out with a bang.
“I cannot bring myself to proofread my post tonight, so it will go up tomorrow morning.”
Proofread? Sarah says “We don’t need no stinkin’ proofread”
The WSJ link says page is unavailable. What was the story?
ah ha…….we have a response to Bitney from Scarah via Van Flea. Weak and lame. I imagine at this point there are MANY people she slammed who are consulting with attorneys. Messy Scarah. Did she do this to sell more books, you betchya.
She’s no Christian.
People need to quit covering for her.
http://www.adn.com/palin/story/1025305.html?commentSort=RecommendationsDescending&pageNum=1
” ‘Going Rogue’ is Sarah Palin’s book to set the record straight. It is her right to speak about the events that occurred in her administration and neither Mr. Bitney nor anyone else has the right to stifle that speech,” Van Flein said. “The statements in ‘Going Rogue’ speak for themselves, and it is Sarah Palin’s turn to get the truth out there after a year of misrepresentations, half-truths and dissembling by her critics.”
First, Palin would never be able to make it through the election process (hard work, people sayin’ nasty things). Second, she would never, ever win. Only a minority of Americans bow to her -and as the videos have proved, they probably don’t even vote ’cause they cannot read or write and fill out the voter reg cards, they’re the flaming idiots of the country. Even if she plays the game in 2012, the rest of the GOP will kick her in the teeth. She would assure a loss. First it was Spears, them team Jen or Ang, then Paris, now Palin. She gets and hour instead of 15 minutes, other than collecting greenbacks, she’s just not up for the job, it requires actual work and thought.
WSJ- talking about how her book was nothing but a whining blame game, filled with hate and resentment then mixed with I love America and roast beef. WSJ making fun of Sarah, too funny!

26 Bear Woman,
To let you know of the progression of removal of items from Cafe Press, On Nov 21st, they had listed 323 items under the general search of Psalm 109. Having read your post, I went to the site and again did a general search of Psalm 109 and the number of items show as 173.
I am not making any excuses for CafePress, but I do note on the items that came up on the front page of my search, make reference to Psalm 109.3 and to James 5:1-6. When I did a specific search of Psalm 109.8, it shows it had listed 5 items, but only shows 2, neither of which specifically has ‘Psalm 109.8′ on them.
CafePress has not responded back to my email sent on Saturday and I doubt they will, which included the vendor names, a list of item numbers and descriptions. The items no longer appear.
Zazzle acted on this issue extremely quickly. CafePress didn’t but over the timeframe of under a week, the items appear to be gone. Not everyone works at the same pace or in the way we think they should i.e. CafePress took a poll.
Not everything in life happens instantaneously. I refer to it like credit cards – We want it and we want it know. We are far too impatient about many things. To accomplish some things in under a week – I’d say that was in the end, pretty good – adding in the fact it is online communications.
We now have to be observant doing searches for items like this in general searches and advise so that we may be pro-active.
Mudpups and others, once we were made aware by Rachel Maddow, stepped up and got involved. I call that a success.
PETAs Thanksgiving ad:

“Does the GOP want to win the White House so badly that they are willing to risk the country in order to do so.”
Yes.
Even Hatch said so himself when referencing the health care debate.
It is a good thing for his electors but he has to vote it down because if it passes the Dems will be looked upon favorably and the GOP will never get into power again.
And that is just one small example of the way they really think.
I am so sick of these right wing crazies using the Bible to justify hate, war, fear mongering, I tell ya, the righter they go the lefter I get. The was a time I was center, no more.
A couple of things puzzle me.
From what I’ve read, when SP first came back from the campaign trail, everyone (or nearly everyone) said that “She’d changed.” The implication was that before she was selected for the VP slot was that she might not have agreed with the “other side of the aisle” but was able to work with both sides, even if only marginally. But thanks in part to her stance during the campaign and attitude after, “working together” productively wasn’t possible.
I think my question is, was there (some) bipartisanship before the campaign? At all? Or was it just – ?
The other question: Who actually wrote the dang thing? It was no secret that there was a ghost writer. One that received no credit whatsoever – on the cover, anyway. Is SP responsible for the content, and the ghost writer only did the editing? (i.e. gave sentence structure to the broken phrases)
Just – ‘t is a puzzlement.
Here’s hoping for healthcare of some sort, a boosted economy and jobs before next fall. I’d love to see the thugs lose 10 or 20 new seats, maybe that kind of slap would bring them back to reality. Reg now, get your kids a card, your mom, bring ‘em all to vote. We’ve made it a family tradition, it’s very cool, we all go vote together. We need every one on the ball and getting ready for the 2010 fight!
And wouldn’t it be great to see Alaska spit in her eye and turn blue???????????
Is Palin even doing a book signing in Alaska?
That will be the day, Trisha. She’s just not brave like that.
This was interesting. Make sure you read the comments following the article.
http://www.insidehighered.com/views/mclemee/mclemee265
Sarah Palin as President? That would truly be a disaster. It’s too bad the Right Wing think that electing Obama was a mistake (and…..hilariously…..a fraud by ACORN – seriously, they are demented). Because like his policies or not – it takes a special kind of delusion, denial and Stupid to say that the President is anything less than intelligent, thoughtful and respectful of others, no matter who they are.
Since when is it ok to expect an American leader to completely stomp on the rest of the world, just show Strength? When did it become ok to not observe another country’s customs? When did it become ok to be a complete moron and proud of it? Is this what the Right Wing teach their kids?
- Respect for no one but those who agree with you,
- Take no responsibility for anything you do and when all else fails,
- Whine a lot then write a book whining some more
I have been appalled at what came out of the Right Wing about the President showing respect to the Japanese by bowing. As a person of Asian descent, I can tell you that manners and respect is of the utmost importance in the Asian culture. I can guarantee you, if our President had walked up to the Japanese leaders and not observed custom and bow? They would have written him off as just another arrogant Western leader thinking he can come to Japan and tell them what’s what. Would they have been open to whatever was on the US agenda to discuss? As Palin likes to say “Hell no!”
It’s just beyond disgusting how the Republicans and extreme Right behave. Do unto others? Yeah right! More like “Do Unto Me what I Demand and Screw Everyone Else”.
If I live to see the day when Sarah Palin becomes President of the United States, I will shed tears. It would be a return to the Bush years with a vengeance. As it is though, I think there are millions of people in this country who would rather have no President than Palin as President. If she wants to run in 2012 – bring it on. She will see first hand that this is not a joke and there are a lot of people in this country who take governing seriously.
She could never be a talk show host, you have to ask other people questions, what is she going to do, have people on asking her questions so she can talk about herself?
aussiegal77, well said.
Last night on Countdown they played Jon Stewart’s clip of Palin as Pres in 2012 (“Sarahpocolypse”). I know it was a spoof, but it turned my stomach and made me feel numb. Truly a horrifying moment to contemplate.
Here’s that WSJ link
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB20001424052748704782304574542051447849052.html
Why is it that SP percieves any criticism of her as an attempt to “stifle” her free speech? The free speech that Palin holds so dearly also applies to those who take issue with her statements about them in her book.
Why is she trying to stifle John Bitney’s free speech? Why does Sarah Palin hate America?
Wait, AKM, aren’t you going to comb thoroughly through the index?? Oh, hold on. . .
Has everyone caught Matt Taibbi’s latest?
http://trueslant.com/matttaibbi/2009/11/23/yes-sarah-there-is-a-media-conspiracy/
“The press corps that is bashing her skull in right now is the same one that hyped that WMD horseshit for like four solid years and pom-pommed America to war with Iraq over the screeching objections of the entire planet. It’s the same press corps that rolled out the red carpet for someone very nearly as abjectly stupid as Sarah Palin to win not one but two terms in the White House. If there was any kind of consensus support for Palin inside the beltway, the criticism of her, bet on it, would be almost totally confined to chortling east coast smartasses like me and Glenn Greenwald and Andrew Sullivan.”
Delicious. And don’t miss Sadly, No! for more on Matt’s article.
From nut’s link:
“It is her mastery of the lament that explained former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s appeal last year, and now her knack for self-pity is on full display in her book, “Going Rogue.” This is the memoir as prolonged, keening wail, larded with petty vindictiveness. With an impressive attention to detail, Ms. Palin settles every score, answers every criticism; locates a scapegoat for every foul-up, and fastens an insult on every critic, down to the last obscure Palin-doubter back in Alaska. ”
Priceless. “larded”
Thanks, Paula and nut.
I just watched the video of the Palin on-the-bus interview (it’s on gryphen’s site). The bus is clearly moving (look at the scenery going by the window). Trig is on Palin’s lap, not in a car seat.
Sarah is too special to get ticketed, I guess.

@61 Good catch about the moving vehicle…
I didn’t watch that video but read some comments about it on another site. It said she was reading to Trig at the same time she was doing the interview? They said it looked totally fake and that child was being used as a prop.
Has she no shame? BTW, I know the answer to that question.
She’s strong. She’s a woman of faith. She’s a woman of wisdom.
bleech! Don’t these people realize that Palin hides her wicked sinfulness and stupidity behind religion?

57 pdx mb, I saw that, too. I appreciate creativity, but don’t like this type of Hollywood film. I know it helps employ a lot of people to do such a film, but I won’t pay money to ever watch that nor would I see it if it were free.
However, wasn’t that SNL, and not The Daily Show?

When my number comes up on the Going Rogue waiting list at the local library, I will proudly check the book out, knowing that I didn’t give one dime to line SP’s pocket. I will then park myself by my favorite chair near the fireplace (oh so tempting, but nah don’t dare do what I’m thinking), turn on my laptop to AKM’s page by page commentary, and then proceed to wade through the book, one PA(L)INFUL page at a time. It is because of leaders like you, AKM, who make this possible — your willingness to plow forward and tell it like it is, enables others who are less brave to enter into the minefield. No politician, or former politician for that matter, needs to lecture me about patriotism. I know who the true patriots are, and for that I thank you and all the other bloggers who keep the pressure on. Have a well-deserved Happy Thanksgiving.
antiAnti – it is a travesty what that woman puts Trig thru. Where are the Pro Lifers? Do they not care that a special needs baby is being dragged all around the country as a prop for Mommie Dearest?
Trig should be at home with his family, in a stable and secure environment. He should not be on a road tour, eating goodness knows what, being passed around like a football while Sarah prolongs her 15 mins. It’s awful to watch and I don’t even have kids!!!!!
How any mother put their child thru this is beyond me, let alone a special needs baby. Every time I see his beautiful face, I just wish I was there to take him away and care for him like a real mother would do.
Come on Sarah – exploit yourself if you want to but leave your children out of it!
Earlier in her tour, at each stop Sarah got off the bus (or plane) holding Tr*g as the symbol of all of her conservative view. She handed off the poor little guy to somebody waiting nearby. People commented that the child was not properly dressed for the cold weather. No jacket, no shoes, sometimes no pants.
And then, a magical interview at the back of the bus, with Sarah proudly holding the child. This time, he wore a long sleeved shirt, pants, shoes and socks. I guess she showed those pesky bloggers who are always criticizing her. The problem is, that Sarah was so intent on her manic interview, that she only interacted with the interviewer and not the little guy in her lap. She mindlessly turned pages of the prop book she was holding. Since he did not have his glasses on, I guess all that he saw was the blur of something moving in front of him. The video on the IM site shows that it is possible for an uncaring mother to neglect a child, even though he is sitting in her lap. It is heartbreaking and sad.
Sarah Palin and her ilk see’s the white’s of everyone’s eyes.
mae lewis: every time I see Trig, it breaks my heart. He doesn’t seem like he’s in distress but he does seem a bit confused, like he’s not sure what is going on and who all these people are. I don’t have a baby but it can’t be good for kids to be in a different place every day surrounded by strangers. Even if there are 1 or 2 family members around, he isn’t at home, in a familiar surrounding. I really just want to scoop him up, give him a hug and spend the rest of day giving him all the attention he needs.
I mean, come on. How can Sarah do this? She talks about considering abortion every time she gets a chance so that she can go on to say, she DIDN’T yet here is the little guy, right in front her and she’s busy chasing the fame and glory. It’s really difficult to watch her put Trig thru this ordeal.
I watched the video of Palin supporters at the Columbus, Ohio Borders Books and this song came to mind:
Ohio song link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI7-m919ynU&feature=related
BRAIN DEAD IN OHIO
(sung to the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song “Ohio”)
Tin helmuts and Palin’s slummin’
Intelligence bought on loan
To Borders these fools are comin’
Brain-dead in Ohio
Add a few clowns to it
Columbus is such a strange town
People that aren’t “in the know”
Went to meet Palin and
They made some mumbling sounds
And they forked over their dough
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
‘Nother small town blew it
By letting Palin hang ‘round
Should have realized long ago
Don’t even know her, yet
They feel she is profound
They’re as dumb as Plumber Joe
These morons see Palin comin’
They can’t wait to hear her drone
When she leaves they will be bummin’
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
Brain-dead in Ohio
All Sarah all the time is getting old. I know we can’t ignore her, but there are other issues of importance too, also. Here in Alaska, the Municipal budget will be of huge consequence. Because of our tax cap, if they don’t tax to the cap one year, the cap is reduced forever in the future. Nationally, health care reform is at a very crucial point. A lot of compromises have already been made, but some of the biggest compromises will come in the next few weeks. And it will be all “give” from the supporters of reform, and all “take” by those who are trying to kill the bill.
I have moved to a city in the Southern U.S. and I see people walking out of the stores with Going Rogue all the time sometimes several copies at a time. It turns my stomach to see what our ex-governor has done. I am so glad she is our ex and so sorry she ever was in office!
Re CafePress:
I just went back and re-checked the search I made, on a whim, yesterday through both CafePress .ca and .com. On Psalm 109-8 or 109:8, I find nothing. For Psalm 109 9 I find many items, but nothing comes up in the first 10 pages except things like 9/11, K-9, and a road sign I don’t understand called EXIT 109, which is often followed by RUTGERS, etc. destinations so it’s open to paranoia whether that’s inciting anything. Pretty oblique if it is.
Under just Psalm 109 the only connected item I get is a t shirt with this in colored typefaces:
“No real Christian, certainly no real American, would ever pray for the first lady to become a widow or her children to be left fatherless. Stop the hate.”
Yesterday this search also pulled a t shirt and cap saying “Pray for Obama to be a one term wonder.”
Today I don’t find this linked to 109, which possibly means the search engine is flukey.
However, they still carry the Brian mug and I still want one. Thanks BTW to the Forums for the postcard with his smiling face.

So, I have a question about Sarah’s patriotism. From what I’ve read, she played basketball, got out of pep band by lying and then started dating Todd, the guy with two vehicles. Then she wandered from college to college, earning a D in economics.
When did she serve her country? This was a huge question for Obama–military service. Where is hers? Women could serve in the military when Palin graduated from high school. Why didn’t she volunteer? How about Todd? Did he serve his country in the military, or only by buying more vehicles than he could use at the same time?
No, military families, she isn’t just like you. Her husband didn’t serve. She didn’t serve. Her family doesn’t have a military tradition. They have a kid that was shipped off because he was causing problems.
Sarah should be held to the same standards as any other politician, and former VP candidate. If you expected the men to engage in military service, then you should expect the women to have done so as well.
I’m still waiting impatiently for what she really wrote….those emails while she was still obeying the oath she swore to Yahweh that she would faithfully execute the office of governor, before he apparently agreed to another covenant and became Her fulltime doorman.
Palin Univision Interview Was Cancelled Because She Was Uninformed On Hispanic Issues: McCain Adviser
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/24/palin-univision-interview_n_368792.html
From the article:
“Jason Recher, a senior campaign adviser to Palin now working on her book tour, dismissed the story and took a shot at Navarro for dwelling on last year’s news.”
LOL @ dwelling on last year’s news …if that’s the case disregard her whole Book
I also caught that quote by Jason and thought, What the ?.
He said, the only people that were dwelling on last year’s election news were the losers.
Say what? Doesn’t that include Sarah’s book? Didn’t she just write a book that dwelled on last year’s news?
In fact, isn’t Sarah last year’s news?
But, I did think it was interesting that she has “campaign” people working on her book tour. Makes me think she is trying to sell more than books.
Gryphen has the interview of Sarah Palin with Greta Van Susteren up.
I can’t bring myself to watch it, but he has some interesting comments.
@Nan #51
Before the VP campaign, Sarah worked with the Ds better than she worked with the Rs. The Senate had organized as a bipartisan group. The house was controlled by the Republicans. To get anything passed, she needed to work with the Democrats. Actually, the Legislators got things passed, and she took credit, but that’s a different story. Before being picked as VP she just didn’t care about political parties. I think that part of her still comes out sometimes, but she has learned that to get nominated by the Rs, she has to attack the Ds. So she is a bit schizophrenic. In hindsight, I think it is because she just doesn’t think about policy issues or party platforms. She thinks about herself and God. And in that order.
I’ve had enough of Scarah! My head hurts and my stomach is churning. I’m waiting for some good news and nothing she does or says is anywhere near good. I hope the steam runs out soon on this 3 ring circus train.
I glance into the future…VERY fun from Maine (via daily kos):
http://bill-in-portland-maine.dailykos.com/
Palin is now accusing president Obama of not acknowledging the sacrifices of the troops:
“There’s been a lack of acknowledgement by our president in understanding what it is that the American military provides in terms of, obviously, the safety, the security of our country. I want him to acknowledge the sacrifices that these individual men and women — our sons, our daughters, our moms, our dads, our brothers and sisters — are providing this country to keep us safe.”
F’ING HORRIBLE B*TCH
I AM MENOPAUSAL AND VERY ANGRY!!!
twain12: I made myself watch it (well, most of it). Now I really feel sick. She makes no sense; her logic? is all over the board. I wish someone could stop that “bus.”

I hear you…if by some terrible chance she ever makes it to the White House i fear i won’t even be save here in Canada :S
Thank you, Sauerkraut @56. That was fascinating. Very interesting analysis of online/on demand publishing. As an artist, am thinking that marketing style is shaking up the gallery scene (with etsy for crafts, etc., and individual artists’ websites).
Half of the comments are shocking, though! Wonder how many of our teachers never took advantage of their chance for an education. Sort of like Bush’s legacy tour at Yale-
I just watched, (with eyes popping wide, jaw hanging open), Palin’s Greta interview (on Fox via The Immoral Minority). Wow, is all I can say at this point. Did Greta give her “gotcha” questions that made her look like an idiot or did she simply look and sound like an ill-informed ignoramus because she is one? Of course, Greta and the Fox crew probably told her she did great and her fans are celebrating her triumph. Holy Cow…I have never seen someone so unprepared for the national stage in my life!
When is this going to end? Enough of palin, already!
Palin slams President Obama for not supporting……you guessed it……the troops:

GIANT SIGH. It was too much to expect the Shrew to at least give us a weekend of peace for Thanksgiving.
Also too – she’s wrong, as usual.
matti: good point about the talk show!
A good interviewer becomes invisible, showcases the guest.
She couldn’t do that!
although, Hannity has guests on and HE talks anyway, so she has a model
Oh happiness, that McCain brought Palin to my attention.
It meant that I found you. You are a part of my daily reading. Must go to a Mudflat Meetup some day.
AKM, I feel for you. I am having kinda of drained watching and listening to Palin’s blind cluless followers, with their books in ther hands waiting for the queen.
What happened to this civilized world? Is it the churches to blame? I just hope no one from outside this country is watching the clips. Did you see the video where the follower was asked to name any policies of SP, that makes him feel connected to Sarah Palin? More than one follower said they have no idea. DEAD FISH just following the flow. Are these people high school drop outs or what? The fact that they are that many, scares and makes me sad.
My head is spining for one reason? I am dissapointed to see how may ignorant and uninformed people in this civilized nation with books and search button just on their nose. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
For a break from the insanity, here is a video that I enjoyed when I found it.
It’s been called “The Pink Glove Dance”

Hope it brings a smile!
Many DS persons have autistic spectrum disorders. As the parent of an autistic son, I can assure you this lack of routine, constant changes, noise, new people, passed and touched by anyone would freak him the heII out. That baby should be taken away. The mother should be put away. She’s sick.
Matt Taibbi has a great piece today:
“Yes, Sarah, There is a Media Conspiracy”
http://trueslant.com/matttaibbi/2009/11/23/yes-sarah-there-is-a-media-conspiracy/
He pretty much explains how she managed to throw her ownself under the press bus.
Yes, one question. How have you gotten through reading this —-? I am way behind, but still reading your summary & interpretations. I certainly wouldn’t be able to get through the book myself! I did, however get the “real SP book” that IS worth the read, in the mail just yesterday, so “color me rouge,” I’m reading that one.
She says “worshipfull loyalty” about Obama? That’s what she demands and expects from her fans and friends.
Thanks Justa @105 – that Matt Taibbi article was great!
Look at it this way AKM….finish the dang thing tomorrow and you will have something to be truly, really, totally thankful for on Thursday!!
Thanks
You are truly a courageous woman to have braved the pitiful prose contained within the covers of that boo…
boooo…
booooo….
Sorry, but I just have too much respect for the beauty and art of the written word to call that piece if drivel a b**k. I am sending you vast quantities of virtual chocolate to aid in your recovery.
I watched the entire Greta interview. XGINO’s response to Greta’s question about the poor: What I learned was that the poor, mostly black unemployed, devastated populace of Detroit (the poorest of the poor) have the same opportunity to flourish as others because of private enterprise? Everyone, no matter where the location have opportunity if only taxes would be cut….maybe I misheard?
I did get to hear Ms. Palin actually say ‘President Obama.’ All is not lost!
