Palin is a Birther. Yes. Really.
I know, I know. I should not be surprised. I should have lost the capacity to be surprised long long ago. I’m like Charlie Brown with the football. You can go ahead and say it.
Here’s an excerpt from an interview that Palin did with conservative talk radio host Rusty Humphries.
“Would you make the birth certificate an issue if you ran?” she was asked (around 9 minutes into the video [below]).
“I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers,” she replied.
“Do you think it’s a fair question to be looking at?” Humphries persisted.
“I think it’s a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records — all of that is fair game,” Palin said. “The McCain-Palin campaign didn’t do a good enough job in that area.”
McCain’s campaign counsel has said the campaign did look into the birth certificate question and, like every other serious examination, dismissed it.
Palin suggested that the questions were fair play because of “the weird conspiracy theory freaky thing that people talk about that Trig isn’t my real son — ‘You need to produce his birth certificate, you need to prove that he’s your kid,’ which we have done.”

“Which we have done?” Link please? I thought not. Unless there was some super-secret certificate releasing press conference of which the entire state was unaware, I believe that the Trig birth certificate has not been shared. Her own medical records were not even shared. A generic “she’s healthy” letter from her doctor was finally released very late in the campaign, but that’s it.
I believe in her latest effort at a truth “switcheroo” she actually meant Barack Obama is the one who has shown his birth certificate. Just like HE was the one telling the press to lay off HER family. Palin + 180 degrees = Truth
I keep thinking that one day she’s going to just show up in the oval office and start working. When questioned she could just say, “I won. I won the election, which I have won with great respect for the office of the presidency and the brave and patriotic Americans who have sat in that seat.” Or something. Hey, White House gate crashing. It’s been done before.
SP is unbelievable, I am at a lost for words. Should we ignore her or should someone plan a full scale attack?

Let’s hope she goes the way of other prominent birthers…away! Any members of the MSM or well read political blogs that cover this story need to make it clear to their audience that Palin has again lied about showing Trig’s birth certificate. It would almost (but not quite) be worth it to see her run for president since she will be required to show her full medical records and not just a note of good health from her doctor.
She must want to get into the news any way she can. Disgusting. The State of Hawaii has confirmed he was born there, but these stupid people continue with this trash. They will not be satisfied by any evoidence provided, so there’s no sense in trying any further. Didn’t ADN try to get to the bottom of Trig’s birth in order to put the matter to rest and S’error wouldn’t cooperate? Even the Repubs with a modicum of intelligence don’t believe the “birther” story. S’error has not real answers for anything!
Doesn’t she realize that demanding to see Barack Obama’s birth certificate leaves her open to demands to see Trig’s birth certificate???? She’s CLUELESS

I’m just wondering if perhaps this is more artiful misdirection (guided, of course, by people advising S’error).
I’ll just put it this way, as a general hypothetical unrelated to any real people: say it became clear that some very, very damaging information were about to come out and that there’s no longer any hope it won’t come out. Let’s just say, hypothetically, that the damaging information has something to do with somebody’s birth certificate.
Say there also happens to be a dying-out, demonstrably nutso birth certificate story kicking around about someone else who’s a lot more significant than l’il ol’ ex-half-term official me, or whomever.
At that point I might be reduced to scrambling to conflate in the public mind the true story that hurts me with the crazy story about the other person.
That’s “artful,” not “artiful.”

I have made a pact with myself to no longer write about her on my blog, (hard), no longer click on any article about her (harder), because when I write about her I am giving her attention, when I read about her, I get so enraged and depressed that to do anything productive is pretty much shot for the day, so – all I have left to stay informed and make sure she is not taking over the world while I refuse to acknowledge her is You, AKM, and Shannyn Moore.
This is the only forum where I will read about her, as your writing is so accurate and brilliantly hilarious, as are so many of the comments, this is the only place that makes “Eating My Peas” Palin palatable.

Okay……..Scarah, I’m calling you out and asking what your religious beliefs are. Do you believe in the ‘rapture’? What ’signs’ do you see happening. What do you expect to happen? Do you think you were ‘chosen’ by God? To do what specifically? Do you believe in evil spirits? Do you believe that people can be possessed by them? Do you believe evil spirits can be cast out? Do you speak in tongues? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Do you believe everyone is going to hell if they have not confessed they are a sinner, repented for those sins, accepted that Jesus is the son of God? Do you believe that Christianity is the one and only true religion? All others are false, worshiping false gods?
Those are all fair questions, people deserve answers in order to know what you are all about and to understand your future plans.

Never mind that she only grabbed him right before she left the bus then fobbed him off on an aid immediately when her heels hit the pavement.

The assumption is that a librul will automatically abort a Down Syndrome baby and a Con will not. There is, to my knowledge, no proof to back that up. I remember working on a council for developmental disabilities, and the volunteers were mostly liberals with developmentally disabled children. I would love to see some statistics on this if they even exist.

OK….in the interview did I just hear her say on the question of Afghanistan, “i’d have more enthusiasm to get over there and kill terrorists so they don’t come over to our land and kill us”. This is disheartening.
It’s true that in this world, each nation is entitled to protecting itself, defending itself. But, Sarah is going to have to decide: she can’t be the Madonna, righteous mother of all children, that she gathers together under her long skirt, and in the same breath, say, “hang em’ high”. I agree with you. I was horrified to hear her say that about killing terrorists. I listened to the full tape, and every single thing she said sent alarm bells ringing throughout my brain.

Early on, she told us, she would spend hours upon hours doing exercises and physical therapy to enable her child to progress ~ and the first years are so important in development; SP has really ‘blown it’ with this babe.
Not an expert is AK law, but in most states, when a child is adopted, the birth certificate shows the adoptive parents as the birth parents, so if that is the case in AK, the birth certificate will “confirm” that Sarah is the mother and Todd is the father, if they adoped the child. So the birth certiifcate, in and of itself, will prove nothing. Only medical records will show the birth mother.
The odd thing about this is that many of us, myself included, would laud someone adopting a DS baby over someone who by their own admission gave birth to a DS baby who they put at risk of death by the reckless “wild ride’.

This is such a false meme it infuriates me. There is no desire among Pro-Choice advocates to abort kids with disabilities, simply to allow individuals to choose for themselves whether to do so. Pro-Choice advocates do not and have never stated anything to indicate they don’t value special needs people. No one in the Pro-Choice community is disturbed by the fact of Trig’s existence, or that of any other kid with disability.
What people ARE disturbed by is the fact that Palin is using her kid as a prop to advance her own image, all the while as she does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to advance the cause of people with special needs.

Bystander–While the names of the adopted parents would be on a birth certificate so we wouldn’t know for sure who the birth parents are, what the birth certificate, IF produced, would prove, however, is what the birthdate of that child is. That cannot be changed, so the likelihood is that is hasn’t been produced because it would prove that whomever the birth mother is didn’t birth that child on April 18, 2008.

I’ve never understood the birthers. How could anyone believe that Ann Dunham Obama would decide to bypass the modern hospital in Hawaii and instead, take a plane to Kenya (outrageously expensive in 1961) so she could give birth to her son in an African hospital (once again, it’s 1961) then come back home and lie about it? What’s more, Barack, Senior was still married to his wife in Kenya, so I’m sure he was not especially keen on visiting the family back home.
But Sarah Palin followed a similar route herself, bypassing a perfectly good hospital in Dallas, Texas in favor of taking a ten hour plane ride to Anchorage. I guess the whole “have your baby in Africa” makes perfect sense to her.

She still contends the presidency isn’t even on her “radar” but continues to make a book signing a campaign tour. She will never, in my opinion, have the guts to tell the truth about anything. See demands adhoration to the point of wanting another “civil war” waged on her behalf. Letting this woman anywhere near a position of power would mean the downfall of the United States. Alaska learned it’s lesson, I hope the rest of America follows suit.

I don’t understand something. I read so much about the wild ride but very little or nothing about her taking a premature 3 day old Down Syndrome infant to her office. I thought premature births, especially Down Syndrome babies, were kept in the hospital for several day after birth. And I thought women are supposed to rest for a few weeks after giving birth. What is wrong with this picture?

To lilybart (#114): I can’t recall any Downs Syndrome babies being born to any of the Kennedy’s. Eunice Shriver founded the Special Olymics in memory of her sister Rosemary, who was born mildly mentally retarded (not Down’s Syndrome). Her “behavior”, not her condition, changed as she got older, as a result of her naturally wanting a sex life and probably more independance than the family was willing to give her. Joe Sr. decided to have her lobotomized, so as to control her and assure nothing she did would be an embarrassment to the family’s political aspirations. The operation resulted in her being severely handicapped and unable to care for herself. Eunice Shriver at least understood that people like her sister deserved to be given every opportunity to reach their potential.. Ironically, Palin doesn’t seem at all interested and commited to providing her son the care he will need to develop and reach his.
Will someone PLEASE remove the gun from her hand so she stops shooting herself in the freakin’ foot?????

I really wonder why the various organizations that assist families whose kids have DS don’t comment on how T is being hauled all over the country, exposed to all sorts of potentially dangerous illnesses, losing critical rehab/therapy time and taken outside in cold weather while improperly dressed.
I don’t really care whether or not she gave birth to him (other than the possible lies and coverup that were perpetuated on the public). I DO care that she, if her stories are accurate, placed his life in extreme peril during her amniotic-fluid-dripping Race to Wasilla. I DO care that she is now depriving him of necessary basic care and the urgent intervention that will determine how independent, both physically and cognitively, he will be in the future.
