Wow. I’m back from the Muckrakers Ball, and what a great time it was! I met so many wonderful people, and saw so many familiar faces. It was really amazing. I was sitting here waiting for my pictures to load and thought about writing up a post tonight, but I started nodding off almost immediately, so it will have to wait until tomorrow.
I’m going to drag my weary bones to bed, and tomorrow will be a day of catching up. I’ve got so many great stories on deck, and I’ve been getting more and more behind all week. Tomorrow morning’s first post which will come to you while I am sleeping via the amazing robo-post feature is from the writer of the “other” Going Rouge – the Sarah Palin coloring book. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Good night all, and thanks to everyone out there who helped make tonight so wonderfully special!

Congrats AKM, you just keep ‘doing us Mudpuppies proud’! Eager to see your posts AFTER you get some well deserved rest.
God has chosen her to lead our country

Hook ‘em Horns ! It was ugly , but we won.
Waiting breathlessly, AKM!
glad you had a good time….get some rest
Tho she would be too modest to say so, our AKM has become one of the most influential people in alaska. Who woulda ever thunk it?
Found this name for Mrs. Todd Palin on HP- Reverend Sarah “Dollar” Palin..
Describes her will, don’t you think
Congrats AKM, I hope you had a great time. We are proud of you! Keep up the good work.
Can’t wait to see the pictures, really looking forward to reading about the Ball!
After the snooze, of course.
uh, austintex…that game was beyond ugly.
but, yes, ok….hook ‘em.
(an ex longhorn here)
uh, austintex…that game was beyond ugly. thank heavens for strong kicker’s legs.
and, yes, ok….hook ‘em.
(an ex longhorn here)
double post.
sorry
….gotta tell ya; akm was stunning!! Well-spoken (as we would expect) and riveting, I would say. Shannyn introduced her to ‘say a few words’ heart-feltedly, the band was great, dancers had fun, and many notables in smiling crowd. But she will tell all ~ I just wanted to give an unbiased viewpoint, LOL. (I am biased). I say she better get ‘accustomed to public speaking’ ~ is a real natural at it, and those who don’t/can’t read would benefit much from hearing akm. Irresistible.
Again Contratulations, and well deserved.
All you PJ clad, basement dwelling Progressive Alaskan bloggers (boy for a dirty word it sure has a lot of sillybuls, and makes a lousy acronym, PJCBDPAB) are really taking the town.
Awaiting pics as patiently as possible.

Ugly ain’t the word. I don’t know which coach called those last three plays, but I want a serious sit down talk with him. If you got no passing game, there is an alternative to continuing to throw the ball out of bounds.
oh, austintex……Nebraska is still suffering from the karma they collected during Osbourne’s reign. It may have been truly ugly but I never doubted you would win.
Can’t say ‘hook em’ here in Oklahoma, think it’s a state law with mandatory prison sentence, but I CAN say better you than them!
#2 Chris – Interesting Guardian article. Thanks!
Testing the word ‘disturbing’. Used it in a post that was rejected by the spam filter. I do like the filter warning and opportunity to edit. If this goes through, I’m just baffled.
Guess McCain just called $P “irrelevant” on the morning talk show. With a laugh, of course, but I’m sure the Crazy Woman is pissed!! (h/t to Phil Munger for the CW tag)
I was catching some of the comments and responses from S’errors Gridiron
appearance and she continued her ‘ victim meme ‘ even with some of those. She and her fans would say she is just ‘ poking fun ‘ and it is lighthearted… and that might fly if not for the fact that that is what she has previously done in the past.
Any time she has a podium or cameras in front of her…. this is her
‘ opportunity ‘ to let a few barbs fly. Not funny… just mean.
Plus….. the jokes were just lame. I read at one of her ‘ conservative sites’ a comment that they thought she was even better than Tina Fey….more Kool-aid anyone? That Award sitting on Tina Fey’s mantle says otherwise though.
There is something else that struck me the other day when reading some of the Alaska blogs and I wonder how her ‘ Fanbase ‘ in the Lower 48 would answer this question or try to spin it. They talk about how popular she is and well-liked. In her home state this SHOULD be even more true. She lives there.
WHY…. then is there not ONE Alaskan blog directly from AK that shares and supports her. If there is all that ‘ love ‘ for her… there should be at least ONE that would surface, grow and be a platform for her opinions. But…None of her Fan websites are from AK. Andrew Halcro and Syrin don’t support her. THAT tells the real story.
I sort of wonder why there have been no stories written on blogs or in the Media pointing out this FACT. It’s such an obvious BOLD statistic.
Can’t wait to read the stories from the Ball last night.
Planet Green Network: Black Wave, The Legacy of Exxon Valdez
I’ve never seen this before now…so sad for the commited workers and the big corp is unscrupulous
I bleed orange , but 13 pts. ain’t gonna cut it against the Tide.

One of the biggest reasons that I and I expect many if not all of the Mudpuppies and so many of the Alaskan bloggers, and the majority of Americans, resent and dislike Sarah and the Republidumbs is their open hatred and constant insulting of what thay call “elite intellectuals” and are really just normal people who happen to respect knowledge and seek to increase their knowledge by writing and speaking on an intellectual plain.
If I were an Alaskan I would resent Sarah saying she represents “real” Alaskans.
I no longer live in Texa but I am really angry that the world sees that pathetic excuse for a politican Rick Perry as representing the intellectual capacities of all Texans.
To disrespect an expansion of the capacity of God’s gift of a big brain with its sapient intellect, should be anathema to a true Christian. Shouldn’t it?
Not so for Sarah and the Republicdumbs who take that gift and turn its power against itself in an effort to destroy the gift itself. And in Sarah’s case do it in the name of the giver.
Wow! S’error is really taking a hit for Daddy Chuck’s comments on why she left school in Hawaii! With a dad like that, it is no wonder she is such a messed up personality. I suspect xtian dominianation upbringing would warp anyone’s physche.
He personifies the comment: “with friends like those, who needs enemies” and he is her father! Once could almost feel sorry for her……if she wasn’t so in our faces.
AKM, I’m really glad you had such a good evening. We were thinking of you in chat last night and sending our good wishes. I’m looking forward to your description of the event.
I hope it’s her family that wakes up and see’s the danger in having her involved in any way with our country’s standing…and finally says something in unison…they can bring her down for all I care! I don’t feel the least bit sorry for her…she brought this all upon herself. There comes a time when your parents or situation are no longer responsible for the way you act.
From Sully: “…..But when Ms. Palin noted how busy she has been — with five kids, a book tour, running a huge state — Mr. Frank suddenly started and looked quizzical, seemingly wondering at her last item since she unexpectedly quit as governor last summer……”
Congrats, AKM, on a well-deserved award and evening of fun and adulation. We all love you in text here on the flats, but it was great that you got some live and in person kudos for all that you do!
honestyinGov @21 – I also read some of the comments from the gridiron dinner and was appalled at the mean tone of some of her comments, especially this one:
“If the election had turned out differently, she said, “I could be the one overseeing the signing of bailout checks and Vice President Biden could be on the road selling his book, ‘Going Rogaine.’”
Interesting point you make about the glaring lack of supportive Alaskan blogs. I’m sure she and her little flunkies could find some way of blaming President Obama for that, like they blame him for everything including the paper cut on their thumb!
I was busy during the middle of last week and must have missed this post story by Andrew Halcro. The whole story is a good read. I just now read it and it and although SP is the ex-Gov and gets the headlines, Parnell is the Governor now and should be working on finding solutions for Alaskans.
( Like those in Nunam Uqua this Winter)
Has Parnell even addressed the issues there…? Has there been ANY response from his office? Or is he pretending the ” problem ” doesn’t exist and wants Ann Strongheart to solve the problem.
( But…Isn’t THAT his Administrations job?)
{ This quote from the story speaks to Parnells ‘ problem solving ‘.}
————————————–
” Since his sudden ascension into the governor’s seat in July, I have spoken privately and publicly that I believed Parnell would change directions by the end of the year.
I assured friends and colleagues that Parnell simply needed to get his feet on the ground before he started making changes. I was wrong. I was dead wrong.
Over the last few months it is become very clear that Parnell lacks the sense of urgency and the independence to fix what is clearly broken.
In his speech to the Resource Development Council last month, where oil producers delivered grim news about Alaska’s oil & gas industry, Parnell struck a tone that could only be described as detached from reality.”
————————-
” detached from reality “….. sounds familiar doesn’t it..?
Anybody want some Cookies….. Anyone…?
Ooops…. forgot the link to my post # 29 by Halcro.

Andrew Sullivan’s Quote of The Day is a must-read and seems to say it’s unlikely Palin’s family will be waking up as #26 Lainey and many of us would hope.
Here’s just a snippet:
“My friend went on to say this particular family member mentioned that Sarah was the “most important person in the world right now” and that Christians needed to get behind her and pray for her.”
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/12/quote-for-the-day-ii-1.html#more
Not sure how if this matters and if it should be noted (or I’m being a bore) but I also commented about Sullivan’s QotD on IM and Bree Palin.
@31 curiouser
The parallels to Jim Jones in SarahWorld are astonishing.
LiladyNY – Yes! But Sarah, with her sights on impacting the world, scares me more.
