The Connecticut for Lieberman party was never a real part. Joe didn’t even bother to join it and is in fact still a registered Democrat. John Orman, a professor of politics at Fairfield Univeristy who was opposed to Lieberman discoverd nobody was registered in the party, according to the state, promptly joined – appointed himself as it’s Chairman and began to have a field-day using it to pummel Joe. An acutal Joe supporter, Stuart R. Korchin, claimed he had registered for the party before Orman and CN had failed to change his registration and claimed that he was the real Chairman. CN refued to get involved in the inter-party squable and hiliarity insued as they both claimed to be the real chairman of the party. John Orman passed away this past July. It appears that Dr. John Mertens is following in Orman’s footsteps and using the party to continue to fight against Lieberman. That this situation exists at all really shines a light on CN’s crappy election laws. They allowed Joe, the loosing candidate from a primary of a party to create a new party and declare himself the candidate of the party even through the party had no members and had not had any proceedure to nominate Lieberman.

Now if they could have ad Jon Stewart doing his great impersonation of Lieberman’s annoyingly whiney voice, the ad would have been perfect. For anyone who hasn’t heard Jon Stewart do his “Joe Lieberman” whine – it’s priceless!

Thanks for posting this. I got it through another route. It is worth seeing. I hope there is a strong Dem that will take Liberman out at the next election. We need to get more than 60 to get the job done. There are some Dems out there that think the Republicans care about those making less than $100,000 a year.

I guess it could be comforting in some strange way to see that other states have representatives to congress that don’t actually represent their state, since Alaska suffers from that problem with some of our MOC, but it really doesn’t feel good at all. I hope Connecticut wises up and elects Ned Lamont if he’s willing to run again, or some other person who actually can represent Connecticut and vote for Health Insurance Reform like the people of CT and the vast majority of Americans want. What year is Joe’s term up?
