shannyn taslking about the wrecks in ANchorage because of the snow.
Begich on now!!!
Senator Begich was GREAT on Rachel Maddow’s show last night!!!
I missed Rachel last night, need to find a link for later!
on shannyn’s show…he compares him being in DC as “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” and he is CORRECT
Legislative bullying.
We’re here for you, Shannyn! Welcome from the ‘flats, Senator Begich!
mona, it’s at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#34486053
Mark is at about 7:25 (but there’s also something brilliant where he smacks down a request for unanymous consent” at about 3:25)
Got a good feed tonite, YAAAY!
and Sen Begich is sounding good!
80% of small & indiv. policy premiums must go towards healthcare, 85% of large group policy premiums….
How will ins. companies be discouraged from raising the cost of policies across the board?
Or did he say and I missed it?
ya beat me justafarmer………went to go find that for Mona. Thanks for that “show”
is the stream working?
Begich is smo-o-o-oth……….in a good way.
Working perfectly for ME
@ Kelly, I am getting chipmunks style radio. So NOT working perfectly for me.
The stream is smokin for me which is very unusual.
: I don’t have health care right now and been wanting this to pass
: Me too.
: But if some are helped (at least) I don’t believe it’s a total wash
: I had a gap…layoff’s…I have to keep dealing with denials and pre-existing conditions
: I am Alaskan native and don’t have health care living in lower 48
: when I left Alaska they said I could go to any reservation and get medical care
: and I went to the onadaga rez and they told me I had to be from that tribe
: so, health care for Natives is not what they say it is.
: Did you contact your tribe? Maybe they have pull, or the rep you talked to from onadaga didn’t know what they were talking about. It happens
: yeah, I called the BIA in D.C., and because I belong to a corporation in Ak, there is no way to get around it, it really blows
: lol, where do you get your math? Palin?
: math?
: her math is like her spelling (ION) hahahhaha
: i don’t got no stinking math
: lol… she’s wound up
: trying to catch up
If Obama hadn’t done back door deals with big pharma, the insurance industry, and had been very verbally outspoken about getting at least the single payer I would still have respect for him even if we got a crappy bill.
^ Comments from the Treehouse, btw
I don’t like this bill…I think the teabaggers took everyone out of it that would have been good. To force people to pay for insurance without a public option is enough reason for me to want this bill killed.
“Starter House”…whatever…they’ll tweak it later? Like the 2005 Bankruptcy Bill? Oh that’s why some people are getting charged 30+% interest rates…
They WON’T TWEAK IT…
I’m over it…
It’s a little off subject but one of the commercials was advertising King Crab Legs for $8.99/lb…wow! Wish I could buy some!

I am wondering if it’s worth holding out some hope for the Public Option to be included in the final outcome after the bill comes out of the Senate, then the House bill and Senate bill go to the Conference committee to hammer out the final bill for the President to sign. I’ll be totally surprised if it happens, but I’m wondering if it’s really even possible at this point. Is anyone in the know about how this Conference Committee phase works?
Mo(o)re Comments from the Treehouse:
: Bob from CA
: askes SM if she is a socialist
: ‘Good evening Shannyn, you socialist’, lol
: “I don’t know ANYone who thinks, ‘Omg: this bill is delicious!’” Me neither, Shannyn!
: me neither
: Bob’s on Cobra, has one year left, then has to wait two years for Medicare
: it is so flawed in so many ways, but it will have to be a start and hopefully the joint bill will be an improvement over the senate mess
: That’s my hope, too
: a real dog’s breakfast
: lol… I’ve never heard that one
: I was out on-the-road wednesday night and saw the Keith Olberman Show on the Hotel TV. His analysis was very sobering and i was so pissed that the WH was going after Dean.
: blue dogs, that is
: Shannyn: “I wish to hell that we had a program where (congress) had to show thier sponsors, like Nascar drivers!”
: ME TOO SHANNYN!!
: think of all the things your dog would rather have for breakfast than the nutritious food you giv him
: LOL
: If the WH and Robert Gibbs had used that same amount of effort to go after Lieberman… we might have a better bill!
: It’s Rahm though..he and Dean have bad blood
: the wh was counting on the grassroots
: and we came through over and over, but no one was listening, so eventually the effort stalled
Hey, Mona — Bob in CA here. Shannyn, you socialist was a joke. I don’t know her politics in detail. Now, on the other hand, I’M a socialist.
After several days of being pissed, and writing comments against the Senate bill, and voting Kill on the Mudflats poll, I’ve grumpily concluded we need to take what we can get. I do not have big expectations for future tweaks, but maybe by the time my kids care, enough tweaks will have accumulated to make US health care only slightly inferior to everyone else’s.
lost my power fer a while but I’m back!!!!!!!!
We are not getting what we want because we still have to many DINO’s and rethugs in Congress, especially the Senate.
Let’s take this bill, work like crazy in 2010 and go back and improve the bill.
We the people need to give Obama what he really needs to get the job done.
@24 Susie: No chance. We’ll be lucky if the conference bill isn’t further diluted.
Is he upset about $626 billion for the department of defense?
More Mo(o)re Comments from the Treehouse:
: just got here. Not sure your point, but the Admin should have maybe tried being a little supportive of some of the things the grassroots wanted.
: the grassroots don’t get a chance to write the bill though. It’s the job of OUR Senators to do that and speak for us. And they are NOT at the moment. Like Shannyn said, they have been bought and paid for.
: yes, far too much corporate influence on senators, and the wh didn’t push very hard for anything palatable
: fear of being the clinton wh all over again, perhaps?
: I’ve wondered if it’s an adamant pursuit of the ideal of ‘bipartisanship’ that is the ‘problem’?
: Keith O. told the president the truth about bi-partisanship on his show the other night. They will bash he NO MATTER what he does… so just do the right thing. Forget the GOP.
: I went to the blog a while (and more zin).
: zin?
: Bob!!!!
: Zin in CA is short for Zinfandel
: ah, okay
: Bush acted as though the whole US backed his decisions, whereas O is behaving as though the whole US’s decisions are what he’ll back (I’m expressing that poorly, but I think you get the gist)
: Are you listening? This caller is insane.
: We’d have liked it if Bush listened to progressives, and actually let our opinions sway his actions
: Is THIS guy Eddie Burke’s cousin…?
: Caller seems to think “statutes” are not “laws”. Credibility pus.
: He’s not using his brain…
: does he have a swastika on his forehead and palin in his heart, hig?
: captainkirk on cell phone
: BUT
: lol
: kirk got cut off!
: and he’s back
: It seems like they all want to ‘ scream ‘ at Shanny tonight… is there something in the water…..?
: Is this a teabagger Party… they want to scream over people
: crap state lines things…kirk has nooo idea that across state lines means that insurance companies win-win
: If there are 2400 insurance companies, but only 5 in Alaska, where are the rest of them?
: they will go to states like MINE that have weak insurance laws…
: Warshington DC?
: or they will go where tons of people live
: lol, bob!
: This guy’s voice is on ALL CAPS!!!111elebenty-one!1!!
: lol
: I can NOT believe this asshat gets to take up so much time
: Oh No’sssss… kirk has mentioned GOD as well.
: teachable moment for shannyn?
: when the crazies get craziest is when shan is at her best
: she luvs the crazies
: Why does Cap’n Kirk get to stay on for so long?
: so she can go to town on his azz
: I KNOW this guy is a Hannity lover also…
: Too!
Shannyn, a concern I have is, when the Neb. senator holds out and wins gifties for his state in doing so, how do the other senators view that? I’m mean really, is everyone supposed to hold out till the last minute in order to garner the best deal they can for their state?
Strangelet: I knew the ‘Good evening Shannyn, you socialist’ was tongue-in-cheek (I was the one who lol-ed!)
I think you’re right, and I think it’s time America became a country of high-knowledge voters. Maybe THAT’s our next ‘grassroots movement’.
I so totally agree with you Shannyn, CERTAIN things should NOT be privatized. Health care, hospitals, prisons, education, anything when it comes to human rights or protections should not be privatized.
add war to that non private business list.
We’ve got a crap load of snow here in beautiful downtown pennsyltucky… and a fatality between a snowmobiler and an amish horse-n-buggy. Yes, the horse is okay. Can’t say the same for the buggy or snowmobiler.
Doctors are not making end meet now!
Another one of those, I got mine, to hell with the rest of you.
wish I could have continued my short call with Shannyn…I have been paying into Medicare since 1967 and have paid private insurance until just a few years ago…then BCBS cancelled my entire group insurance.
and this Polish woman is dissing socialized insurance that SHE had and claims SHE has better now???
give me a freaking break…
oh!!!! “slave” me to socialized medicine!!!
I want socialized medicine and I want it NOW!!!!!!!!!!
Kill the bill. We need single payer. Anthony Wiener is doing some kind of conference on Tuesday. I got an email regarding it.
Can someone explain to me what Obama could do with the DINO’s to get them on board for the Public Option or expanded Medicare?
You have to know the insurance companies are already plotting how to manipulate the bill to get over on us.
This is the link he sent me http://countdowntohealthcare.com/ Anyone else get this?
This floral guy is great
Hey, Shannyn, hang in there………I’m pretty dang sure the opposite to what you think and believe is worse.
Strap a Bomb On . LOL.
Brill. Shannyn
You are making a Huuuuge difference.
Keep At It. One sand grain at a time.
Dont’ forget “No government in my Medicare”
OT: Now RuPaul has her (?) own take on Sarah’s cover, Going Vogue:

And Yay Mark Begich!
Back when she was in Poland only the ruling class got good health care.
There she goes, gotta love it !
Yeah Shannyn! Enjoy your adult beverage! Stay warm.
Great show tonight, Shannyn.
Great show indeed.
I would have told the immigrant [as the son of Polish immigrants in Canada]
The Same Thing.
Wake Up Lady — UR Fortunate [in America[ with UR husband’s health insurance – which not everyone in America has — and Should have, by rights.
Does everyone really think that if President Obama had written up a bill and sent it forward anything different would have happened. It would have been worse than it is now,People would be saying he alone is trying to take over health care..The house and the senate have to write the bills and vote on them.Do any of you really want another person who does just as he or she wants and listens to no one else about anything..Personally I think they should do the best they can now and ad the public option or the op out or opt in to medicare at 55 and use reconciliation if they have to to get it passed. That gives them 10 years,If it works it will be hard for any congress or sitting president to get rid of it.If it fails than maybe we are better off.We can not let these republicans that do not care about the middle class or poor win this one no matter what or we lose everything. President Obama has said he did not care if he was a one term President if he could accomplish some of his priorities.
I watched Mark B On Rachel’s show and he was great,he said and did more than I ever thought he would. Great going Mark.
I think that if this fails this time it will be many many years before it is bought up again and this stall tactics by the senate is working towards that.I would bet anything that the republicans never thought that they would bring in the senator who is so sick and had to be wheeled in in a wheel chair..Mark was right it is outrageous to use our troops for political gain and I hope they are all watching how the republicans are not supporting them, they can claim anything they want but it boils down that they tried to hold the senate hostage and these are the same people that applauded the troops being sent over there.I hope one of the people McShame talks to brings up his I object,May not have a video but do have the transcripts..Wonder how McShame got those few minuets deleted, maybe the same way he talked the Vietnamese into not letting anyone see his POW records.
gaaak….that Polish woman was full of crap…
jojobo1 @ 57, I am from AZ and would like to apologize for that asshat McCain. I hope someone progressive steps up to the plate so we can retire his rogue self from public office. He has disgraced my state more than once in this past year.
Hold out for single payer. Elect ONLY those that support single payer. Make it the issue. It IS the best way. Merry Christmas, everyone! God IS good!
@56,57 jojobo1: Generally, the President does not “write” major legislation, but certain legislators are entrusted with introducing the Administration’s preferred language. In this case, there is apparently no Administration-preferred language.
I am an unmovable Democrat, and therefore a supporter of the President. And I have sixty-two years of understanding the limitations and inherent biases of our Federal system of democracy, so I am reluctantly able to accept the current Senate offering as progress.
However, there is no doubt in my mind that the Senate version of health care reform could be much closer to the House version if President Obama had chosen to employ his charisma and popular support more aggressively. There would have been some political risk if he had done so, but the upside benefit would have far outweighed the risk.
The President chose, instead, to minimize the political risk by divorcing himself from the legislative process. I suppose this may have been smart politics — I mean, if in 2012, Obama is running against Palin, or Romney, or any Republican I can envision winning the nomination, I will vote for Obama despite my loss of respect for him due to the health care fiasco. But the loss of respect will still be real, and may be communicated to my now-eligible-to-vote children. They have a forty-year different perspective on the world.
I fear for our nation, when our best have spines of jello.
Senator Begich did great on Rachel Maddow Show. Wouldn’t be surprised if HE gets enough national attention to one day run for President?
Now that would be something, since he doesn’t have a college degree.
That WOULD be something……
strangelet You may be right.I am not a straight party voter and have voted for someone from both parties if I felt it was in the best interest of not only myself and state but other states also.I am a true independent in my voting.I could never follow lockstep like the republicans seem to be doing now.Though I think they have lost members as the democrats may have over this health insurance reform bill. The only thing I will say is the dems have something out there the republicans not so much. They just want to kill anything they can.
