On the Eighth Day of Christmas,
My Ex-Gov…
You know… I’m sorry… I just need to stop here for a moment. This has been really great, and I love coming up with these verses every night, really I do. But to be honest I think the best thing I can do now that I’m 2/3 of the way through this song – the best thing for YOU, my dear Mudflatters, since I know I’m not going to be going on after Day 12, is to just quit now.
And besides, I got this nasty email that called me a bad name, and I’m spending all my time thinking about it, and I just can’t get anything done.
Anybody who knows me will know that I’m really doing this for you.
And because I just feel like it.
Just kidding! I couldn’t resist.
OK, back to the business at hand.

It is great that some democrats (most?) have heeded the charge by our POTUS (‘let me be clear’) to call the rascals out! I am happy that Sen Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) and my Senator Dick Durban (IL) have the intestinal fortitude and civility to emphatically do so. I am encouraged because, well, yes we can. We must continue to stand strong and stay vigilant.

I think the residents of Juneau need to get to the bottom of this flap…if true, it needs to be dealt with by law enforcement, these things should not go unchecked and unpunished. If it is yet another Palin lie, it needs to be broadcast widely and Palin needs to be slapped hard for another slanderous claim.
As some resident in Juneau start to speak out about Palin’s wild kids, parties at the Gov’s mansion where the police were called several times, Palin’s inappropriate comments about 14 year old boys (they are cute and sexy), and RapeLieGate, I can’t help think that one day this entire Palin chapter be viewed as the biggest hoax ever pulled on the American public.

I’m printing out the article from #11, thinking that it is the definitive charge against those who would obstruct progress, and hoping that a year from now the light will have grown and the current disgusting tactics will be history. (ok, due to the season I may be being a little too wishful there)
trisha…agreed. I do not live in Juneau so feel it is not appropriate for me to campaign for something to be done. I can only encourage any resident who wants justice served to write or call the appropriate authorities to get this resolved. I honestly feel it’s important.

I’m wondering if another Mudflatter could email Andrew Sullivan about his latest post on Palin. I’m not at a computer that will let me email. I really think he needs to be more clear in his post. He mentions that Palin says her girls (Willow and Bristol) received ‘ugly threats’ when in school in Juneau, but authorities who should have been informed know nothing about this. However, ‘ugly threats’ is far too vague. Sarah said her daughters were threatened with gang rape, a criminal offense and a threat that should have been taken with the utmost seriousness and definitely reported to authorities — both school officials and law enforcement. (Had this happened.)
By saying merely ‘ugly threats’ it leaves the reader free to the possibility that the threats were not at the level that officials needed to be notified. This is not the case. We need to hold Sarah’s feet to the fire on this. She’s the one who has made the allegation. Why no mama grizzly bear defending her cubs?

Some of AKM’s earlier posts pointed out that the Anchorage Mayor, Sullivan , has proposed in his budget to cut services as well as programs for the city that relates to ‘ Arts ‘ or programs that benefit the Community as a whole. The things that enrich them to make the Community more full and balanced for everyone and ad to the ‘ quality of life ‘.

Would you consider setting aside links to your critiques and findings in the chaqpter by chapter reviews you covered a few weeks ago here, in a sidebar section for quick reference?
As for myself, several times I’ve searched for the Palin book review chapter reviews in your archives so that I could list the URLs or links at some other site so that more people could have access to information debunking the book
It might even be an interesting topic for one of your commentaries at HuffPo.
At a reader’s suggestion, I created a category called “Going Rogue – Blogging the Book”, so if you search that category all the posts will come up. The search box is over on the side bar. I am working on also putting together one comprehensive post with links. Thanks! AKM

AKM, that was perfect. I thought at first you were seriously going to quit to make the point about the master quitter. But I’m glad you didn’t. And don’t stress about that email. We all know people like that who attack anyone who doesn’t agree with them – and once again, they just prove that they are cowards.
Thanks to everyone else with the links to what’s been said by Senators of reason. I’m glad they are taking a stand, and doing it on the Senate floor so it’s part of the record. And I’m glad that it’s been made public for the rest of u to hear. Now, if some of the Dems who need to grow a spine would just do so, and the few reasonable Repubs left would wake up and realize they aren’t helping anyone by siding with the fear monger, we might see some progress on health care and everything else.

I was just reading the comments on the last thread about E Burke’s tweets. Isn’t there a law about threatening civil war in this country? Isn’t this kind of talk considered to be treason? There is a right to free speech but when does it cross the line? When someone is threatening violence and talking about taking up arms it seems that Federal Marshals should be stepping in.
I loved the post about the speech by the Sen from Rhode Island. Well said sir. I look forward to the day of reckoning.

Last Saturday Wanda Sykes had an interviewer, who I believe was a Male female impersonator ( made it even better ) from her show interview some Sarah Fans from inside a Costco book signing. The interviewer asked questions and the Fans were just beside themselves and giddy with glee.

AKM, I would like to fall back on that old “sticks and stones” routine, but I don’t think that it works with grownups. I imagine that getting call rude names goes with the territory of blogging. Your best “I know how you feel” remarks come from your other Alaska bloggers, because they have also been on the receiving end of some pretty nasty stuff.
In the spirit of the season, I would like to offer praise and virtual hugs for the well-written, clever, entertaining, humors, thoughtful posts. Wrap yourself in your beautiful quilt and know that you are loved and appreciated.
As for Sarah’s fans, some of them are capable of saying the most hateful things because they just are not capable of rational thought. On an unnamed blog, one of her writers called Al Gore the Bernie Madoff of the environment. Absurd! At IM, someone wants to install some of Sarah’s children in the White House and send the trash back to the Ghetto. Racist and wrong wrong wrong. Sarah’s followers are exactly that because they are not able to think, write or express themselves, or they would not be following her. I can’t bear to listen to the screaming T-baggers, anyone on Fox News, and I can’t bear to read the pro-Sarah comments because I can’t imagine that people choose to be that ignorant and hateful.
But then, some of them end up in Congress in Washington DC. Yesterday, some Republican senator actually offered a prayer that (Senator Byrd) anyone who wasn’t present wouldn’t be able to make it to the Capitol for the vote. How mean do they have to be before they lose all humanity? And, especially at the time of year when we are supposed to be exchanging warm greetings to each other. Whether you agree or not with the sentiment, the book is an excellent representation of an angry left-wing. Going Rouge attempts to tear down the myth, and is worth reading if for no other reason than to see what the Democrat’s fury at her looks like in full bloom.

Palin’s alleged threats against her girls seems a pretty good match for her long-after-the-fact claim that she felt threatened by ex-BiL Trooper Mike Wooten – a “threat” she mentioned to no one while she dismissed her security detail and continued to drive herself to work – Alone. It’s just real hard to estimate whether her dishonesty exceeds her intellectual malpractice or vice versa.
I didn’t hear anything about threats to her girls. All kidding aside I hope that isn’t real. But if she made that up she should be ashamed of herself. Also aren’t her older girls party girls.
