Going Rogue: Page by Page (A Resource and Links)

28 12 2009

Yes, I read Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue – An American Life.  I read it from cover to cover, including all the words.  Why would I do this?  Am I an unabashed masochist?  No.  The answer, my friend, is that I did it so you didn’t have to.

My own copy is marked up in various colors of highlighter and Sharpie.  I tore a page because I pushed to hard while I was making a big red circle with a line through it.  I refer back now and then making more notations.  I look at it like that girl in the “I made it through Marine boot camp” commercial.  I tested myself, and I won.  So, now you can look at me and say “Good morning, Marine!”

I’ve had a couple requests over these last weeks to compile the various posts into one place.  So, I’ve created a category in the sidebar, and will now post this comprehensive linky list.

And while I’m at it, I thought I’d include some comments by various “debunkers.”  Below, see links for articles that call Palin out on her lies, delusions, and exaggerations.  I’ll just add to this as the list grows.  And you know it will.
Chapter One – The Last Frontier

Chapter Two – Kitchen Table Politics

Chapter Three – Drill, Baby, Drill (Part One)

    Wow. This is awesome.

Another new lie uncovered??????? I just read on Palingates that Palin talks about Willow being born the day after the Fourth of July (she was trying to go into labor on July 4 but she said Willow didn’t arrive until a day later), but Willow’s birth date is July 7.

How is July 7th, one day after the Fourth?
Did Harper Collins even fact-check one thing in this book?

I wonder if this is no longer Maria’s Song (West Side Story) but has been taken over by Ms Palin as a comment on her book and life

    I feel pretty,
    Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty, and witty and gay,
    And I pity
Any girl who isn’t me today.

    I feel charming,
    Oh, so charming–
It’s alarming how charming I feel,
    And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I’m real.

See the pretty girl in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive girl be?
    Such a pretty face,
    Such a pretty dress,
    Such a pretty smile,
    Such a pretty me!

    I feel pretty,
    Oh, so pretty
That the city should give me its key.
    A committee
Should be organized to honor me.

    I feel dizzy,
    I feel sunny,
I feel fizzy and funny and fine,
    And so pretty,
    Miss America can just resign!

    I feel stunning
    And entrancing–
Feel like running and dancing for joy,
    For I’m loved
    By a pretty wonderful boy!

    Such a pretty face,
    Such a pretty dress,
    Such a pretty smile,
    Such a pretty me!

How many liar gates does Palin have now. And it looks like she’s add another rape gate lie again this week.

Reading Gryphen tonight and went to Google images to look at Track and Curtis Menard. All the Briston, Willow and Piper looke like the Palin’s children. Track really doesn’t so much but he does bear some resimblance to the senior Menard in the nose an mouth.

    Hmm.

I still think Sarah and gates and doors confused and keeps rushing through gates that she thinks are the doors God is opening for her.

Perfect. I have been thinking that there needs to be a “Fact check” site just for
Palin’s lies. This will be the “go to” place in the coming months whenever the mean quitter, twitter, sister opens her mouth to tell another tall tale. Do you think she will ever learn?

  22. 22
    califpat Says:

She has always been about herself and a media seeker who later found that her children could be used as props to garner attention and sympathy. Her children have never been her priority, so I believe she left them in the car while she did whatever she did in the house. She may not have been drinking but she was doing something inside that she did not want anyone to know about.

OT. There has been a question on my mind since I first ran into the this train-wreck during the Campaign. She keeps harping on the fact that everything she learned about life, she learned through basketball when she was a basketball point guard known as the “Barracuda”. If she was so good in basketball, why didnt the “Barracuda” receive a Basketball scholarship from any University? Just a query and a thought.

    ginger Says:

You really should publish all of your hard work in book form. People really need to know she is not what she tries to portray. Another good book would be a picture book to show what all of her supporters money is going towards, new house, Escalade, Hawaii, daughters legal fees, etc etc. They may not read much but maybe, just maybe if they saw it in pictures they might finally get it.

    But…
Do you see If you find , what?, 2 more ? cites of fire-y britches you will have gathered 3 times as many chapters on lies of the Really Odorous Ginormous Underbelly Extrusion which is our gone gov than she managed to yarf up herself?

I think, but could be wrong, that the quote Palin (and I guess quote garden) attributes to Plato was actually written by Marjorie Pay Hinckley in her book Small and Simple Things. Scroll down to see the quote.

About the comment from A Scrabble Player who says “…any good scrabble player knows that there’s only one K and one Q per set of tiles…”

Yeah but any good scrabble player with a Sharpie can hoard all the K’s and Q’s she wants.

    GhostbusterTX Says:

Hmmm, strange at it may be to be siding with Sarah on anything, I think the Scrabble player whose critique is cited above was misreading that passage in the book. If members of her family tend to hold onto high-value letters – like Q and K – hoping to use them on a triple word score – well, that’s how most folks I know play (myself included); calling that strategy “hoarding” makes sense, especially if you are talking about a number of games over a period of time, even if you can only “hoard” one or two tiles in a particular game. Sure she just said “Ks and Qs” but I think it’s clear from the context that Zs and Js and Xs might just as well be “hoarded” too…

On the other hand, I wonder qualifies as a “long fancy word” in the Palin household – maybe quack?

And just to be clear, I think that like every sentence in her book, that one serves a purpose – to show her readers that she is too smart and knows long fancy words and stuff, all public evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

Now, putting on my nitpicker hat:
(Psssst, AKM, it’s spelled “indices” – with an i.) :)

Say No to Palin in Politics Says:

So does anyone believe Scarah went kayaking when 9 months prego, while in labor? first of all would she fit in a kayak? would she be able to balance very well, especially while having contractions? and, would it be a wise or safe thing to do while in labor?

Inquiring minds just gotta know whether this could possibly actually happen or whether this is yet another big ol fabricated fib.

Any docs or kayakers out there that care to comment?
Any witnesses to this event? Mernards, Chucky, Sally, Toad, care to comment?
