Ending ‘Rascism’ in Anchorage – One Hour at a Time

or2

A “Rascist.”  We were never quite sure what it was… a hybrid of fascism and racism, or just someone who can’t spell his own intolerance.  But whatever it is, there’s an hour less of it every day in Anchorage.

That’s right folks, Eddie Burke, the local radio hatemonger on KBYR 700-am and Sarah Palin’s golden boy had his show chopped by an hour, and his time slot moved.  Note the following Tweet:

burke

So… going from 3 hours to 2 hours in an undecided time slot is “super drive time?”   I suppose if he stepped on a bear trap he’d end up with a “super leg!”   Or if he ordered a pizza and it came a few slices short, it would be a “super pie!”  Oh, the possibilities…

Rumor has it that the half hour screed “The Fastest Show on Radio,” with Glen Biegel is now off the lineup completely.  I guess that would mean it’s “even faster.”

Maybe Anchorage just can’t support that much hate and vitriol.  Everyone…all together… “Awwwwwwww.”

“Dang it!” This is just like Sarah quitting her job didn’t make her a quitter! It’s the new ReTeaPubBagLiGersCanParty trend – “Nobody cut my show! I just made it more meaningful by letting my boss shorten it!”

Now he has more time to be a jerk in person :)

As usual….I guess he can’t see the OBVIOUS truth in front of him.
Maybe a glance at his timecard and it would become clearer…
    and more ‘ obvious ‘. Just saying….

Or put another way… suppose Eddie was a big fat polar bear sitting on His iceberg and it started shrinking starting next week.
I don’t really think the polar bear would see THIS as a good thing.

I never listen to talk radio so don’t know how much time he had before or when it was – but unfortunately w/the 4-6 pm slot he will be on the drive home time for those going to the valley after a normal shift… and unfortunately many of the Red Shirts and $arah’s Rah Rah Club will be listening on their drive home.

Wait a minute. So he is moving from two to five and now will be on from four to six. So that means there is a slot open from two to four. Hmmm. Wonder if I can think of someone who might be able to fill that slot. Maybe someone who has a Saturday show on that station, who could get national guests, and gets callers from all sides of the spectrum. Geez, is there anyone who might meet that criteria?

So now Eddie is going head to head in that time slot with Mike Porcaro on KENI (Don’t know who is schedule from two to four on KENI0. Dan Fagan is still from two to five on 750 so KBYR is going to put somone strong against Fagan and then hope their audience bleeds into the Imperial Wizards show.

Eddie Burke, the good friend of the Palin/Heath clan that would allow a 7/8 year old girl on the radio with old goats is scary. Even if it was the one and only time that the child was on Eddie Burke’s vulgar show (which I unfortunately happened to hear), it was not right and it makes me understand a bit more why Sarah is so very screwed up. IMO, Sarah’s moose slaying with her dad only reinforced not so veiled threats during her formative years. Perhaps the real damage to Sarah was caused by her really strange father, apparently complicit (and/or clueless) mother, and compliant siblings. Lord help them all.

Sarah’s dad, Chuck Heath not ‘Chuck Palin’ (oopsy from my comment on an earlier thread).

Since I began reading about the mess that is Sarah Palin in Aug. 2008, and after reading about her upbringing, I knew in my Social Workers heart, that the woman had been developed in a dysfunctional home. Hey…many of have grown up with parents that had much to be desired, but Chuck Heath gives me the creeps. My dad and I were alwalys at logger heads…but he was sane…and he passed some really good things on to me, that have served me well.

I believe Heath senior pitted his children against each other. I think he pushed them until their breaking points. I believe Sarah is still looking for daddy’s approval. Just my 2 cents. Means nothing really, but a study of psychology makes one think of these things.

Ah, rushbo, I’ll force myself to not say more than “the same one that hopes the president fails” is in the hospital in serious condition? I read he told

If Eddie was on for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, that’s 15 hours a week. Now at 2 hours a day, for 5 days a week, that’s a new total of 10 hours per week. I assume that he’s taking a 33% pay cut to go along with a 33% cut in airtime. I wonder if he can afford to continue to do this and support his wife and 4 kids. Maybe he’ll have to quit and get a real job? One can only hope.

Were his local ratings down, or what was the reason for this change? Very interesting, and hopefully this is a good change for Anchorage, but there’s always the possibility (and probability) that the now available airtime will be filled with someone as ignorant and hateful as Eddie Burke.

    Nan (aka roswellborn)No Gravatar says:

I so hate to say this, but as someone who has chronic pain, I feel I have to.

Chronic pain is debilitating. It can make you feel stupid, because you just can’t get those synapses firing right. It can take over your life. Medication that can help with that pain is a godsend.

Appropriately used, medication for pain does not automatically mean loopy thought processes, because the pain “uses it up” before you get to that point. Overmedication, or a too large initial dose is where that loopy thinking – and possible addiction – comes in (I had to take my pain meds in half-dose increments, as it hit me like a ton of bricks otherwise.)

Further, if emergency treatment is needed while someone is taking pain medication, it can be critical for the medical personnel to be aware of what and how much medication is in that person’s system. It’s very easy for some medications to work at odds or even against another one. The docs and EMTs gotta know, period.

As I implied, I really am not happy “defending” someone with whom I am so diametrically opposed, but facts is facts, y’know? And them’s the facts, folks.

    Dangit.

I recommend acupuncture! I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my left wrist. It was diagnosed almost 40 years ago and has flared up from time to time. My doctor would prescribe pain killers and anti-inflammatories. This has been on and off for many many years. For the past two years he has been telling me I must have surgery and I am not willing. My mother had the surgery in both wrists and regretted it as well as many other people I know. For the past year my arm has gone completely numb all the way to my shoulder blade. I would wake up three or four times during the night to hang my arm off the side of the bed to get rid of the numbness. I read about acupuncture in a magazine and figured what the hey, what’s to lose?
I’ve had five treatments and by the third, the numbness is nearly zilch, I sleep through the night, my digestion is amazing and I’ve lost five pounds! It doesn’t hurt any more than a little pinch does. I’m going for monthly maintenance from here on out.

Nan, you are correct regarding chronic pain, it’s nothing to joke about. In Rush’s case the hypocrisy is the thing about his drug abuse. After years of preaching to his ditto heads that drug related crimes should be dealt with by jail time I didn’t have much sympathy when it was discovered he was a an abuser. Please accept my apology for any offense taken by my earlier comment. I see another member of the intolerant faction of my state got caught using her state email account to send racist pix of the president to her narrow minded pals. Read at huffpo that winky’s facelift book crowd is enjoying the pic immensely. Once again, anyone that entertains being the leader of the free world would not tolerate that kind of crap on their fb page.
