“Get Motivated” With Sarah Palin.
About six months ago, the “Get Motivated” Business Seminar came to Anchorage. Rudy Giuliani was a headliner at the vaguely religious, conservative-esque motivation-palooza at the Sullivan Arena. So was Zig Ziglar, Tamara Lowe – the interestingly coiffed author of the Get Motivated book, Steve Forbes and others. The commercials ran for weeks. “Bring your whole office for just $19! That’s right! Your whole office for $19!” They know they’ll get you with all the books and classes and workshops they offer.
And I mused at the time that some day we’d know when Sarah Palin was finished – when she’d had her day in the sun. It would be a mystic sign, like an owl landing on the roof, or a sudden unexplainable rainbow. Sarah Palin would be headlining at a “Get Motivated” seminar, and the whole office could attend for $19. This is how we will know, people of the village, that her time will have passed. And the dark days will be over, and peace will again come to the kingdom. So the seers watch and wait for the sign….
IT’S HERE!
Well, that was fast. And I’m not sure now that my mystic sign means what I thought it would mean, but nevertheless, Sarah Palin will be appearing at “Get Motivated Houston.” And yes, your entire office can go for $19. Her headlining performance at the National Tea Party Convention will cost you a cool $350 per person, discouraging those sign-carrying, tomato wielding, hecklers. But when the entire office of the Democratic Party of Houston, or Defenders of Wildlife can get in for $19? Whoa. I imagine they’ll have tomato-sniffing dogs at every entrance. Or maybe they’ll be testing out those full-body scanners. And maybe Todd will have a special list of people who aren’t allowed in…
The article in Houston Style Magazine lists Palin after Zig Ziglar and Rudy G., and above Colin Powell and Terry Bradshaw.
If there’s anyone out there who wants to splurge and take the office to see the ex-gov, call 1-800-217-1339 RIGHT NOW!!! Don’t delay! That’s $19 for the whole office! Operators are standing by to take your call.
You’ll hear her talk about: (put down your drink)
- How to Successfully Manage and Balance Your Personal and Professional Priorities
- How to Overcome Obstacles with Creative Solutions
- The Secrets to Effective Decision Making
- How to Have Grace Under Fire, and
- How to Become a Person of Influence
To answer your question – No, I am not making that up.
The event will take place on Monday, February 8 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
And my email address is akmuckraker(at)yahoo(dot)com…. Just in case you need it.

Now I have seen it all. How is a woman who quit her job because of bloggers going to teach me about having grace under fire?
Maybe they have invited her as the example of what NOT to do?
Sorry AKM I live 3 hours from Houston and will not waste the gas money to listen to that liar speak. Hopefully someone in Houston will go.
Oooo, what opportunities await for some enterprising, innovative Mudpuppies! Can’t wait to hear their “boots on the ground” reports.
Now, that is funny. She fits none of those criteria and… why is Powell agreeable to headlining with her? Bradshaw I can understand, but when did Powell lose his personal values?
I’d ask for my $19 back. …
Blechhhhhh!
(blech – an expression such as disgusting, yucky, horrid, gross)
Umm, What? Maybe this instead?

7 high-profile speakers? How many tickets at $5 a pop does it take just to pay their speaker fees, let alone pay for the venue, other expenses, and leave enough left over for a little profit?
Even at $1000 per speaker, you have to sell 1400 tickets. Add a mere $10,00 in other expenses and you’d have to sell 3400. How big is this place? I know Houston is a major population center, and I can imagine people paying 5 bucks to hear Ziglar (I wouldn’t mind hearing Colin Powell). I suppose these people must know what they are doing, or they wouldn’t still be doing it!
Each speaker will probably have one hour. Egads, listening to Sarah Palin prattle on about nothing for an hour. I bet she gets the 8am slot and the poorest attendance. Anyone’s head would explode if they tried to listen to ALL of them, so people will just pick and choose. And I know the coordinators of the event WILL pay attention to the crowds showing up for which speakers. I just hope they listen to what Sarah has to say and determine if they think it really is ‘up to snuff’ with the quality of the rest of the speakers. I also wonder if she hasn’t been given a basic script about what to talk about. And if they have teleprompters available and who will use them if so.
At $5, I hope a Boots on the Ground reporter can …. report! But don’t forget! This is a ‘limited time offer’!
She may bail on this like she did on others and how much is Ms. Palin getting for this speaking engagement? The only thing she can speak on with expertise is how to “lie”.
good for her… I would much rather see Sarah the speaker of motivation than Sarah the Politician speaker of annoyance.
Augh! OMG the crazy lady is coming to my town! I don’t know if I can go or not. As in can I force myself. The wingnuts in Texas are abundant and they will be out in force even tho Houston itself is pretty liberal. I’m afraid the anger might cause me to throttle someone if I had to listen to this garbage. Any others in Houston on here? If so, want to make it a double date with me?
Oh please. Those are the biggest rip off seminars ever! I can’t understand how colin Powell allows himself to be used to promote this crap. The others I can believe, Rudy, W. etc. If you don’t k now how bad it can be, read this guy’s review. http://www.buzzillions.com/dz_129350_get_motivated_business_seminar_review_10357825?prRo=2&reviewSortBy=lowestRatingFirst&prRpp=1
The Toyota Center is where the Houston Rockets play, and the Reliant Center is a HUGE conference venue. They’re anticipating far more than 1000 people.
I’m also guessing that they’ll be stuff available for purchase, which is probably the biggest moneymaker.
My husband is going to try to get his office to go. Everyone cross fingers!
oops, add a mere $10,000.
I also know any BOTG reporter would be able to tell in an instant if the speech she gave was primarily supplied by the organization. We have enough samples of her speaking style to easily tell. It’s like my plagiarizing students. They just don’t get how I POSSIBLY could have known what parts of their papers were copied from someone else. It’s called STYLE and Sarah’s got one that is completely recognizable. We will know which are her words and which are not.
I feel the January blues slowly creeping in: it’s really cold and the snow’s not supposed to let up all week. I guess I was nicely distracted from politics with all the holiday preparations, but now it really sickens me to see what the GOP is up to. I’m even starting to feel that maybe QuittyPants will get away with everything after all. But on the bright side, Jon Stewart is back, and the crazy lady is no longer a headliner! She actually has to share the stage AND she’s on sale. Take that, January blues.
A shout-out to #11 Anne in Texas:
I live in the northwest part of Harris County, about 45 minutes from downtown in “good traffic”.
I’m not sure if I have the stomach for this….
Elsie – if you do decide to go let me know. I live about 10 minutes away, but would have to take all day off work to go and not sure I can/want to do that.
Anne @ 11 – If you do a boots report, I will send you the entry fee plus meal money. But no money to purchase any books or any of the other typically useless stuff they sell at these things.
Cool. Thanks Sauerkraut. I can get over the ick feeling to make myself go, but getting out of work is the more difficult issue.
Hahahahahaha to “The Secrets to Effective Decision-Making”……hahahahahaha, snort, hahahahahaha….yeah, the big secret is out Sarah, we know what it is. You use it all the time; when in doubt about what decision to make, CANCEL. I’ll bet she’ll cancel out on this motivational business seminar.
Good grief!
Will she have to answer questions? Will she draw on her vast experience of failed businesses and record of quitting things when the going gets rough?
Please someone do a BOTG!
But my personal feeling is that she won’t show.
Anne in Texas, it appears to me from reading the FAQs online, that if you pre-register with these clowns and give them your personal information, the cost is nominal.
But if you try to preserve your personal information, to avoid getting on their mailing lists, and just show up at the site on the day of the event, the cost is $225/per ticket at the door!
Here is a seating chart for the Toyota Center in the “stage” arrangement. Best I understand , the facility will hold 18,000 plus with the basketball arrangement. Add the floor seats in the “stage” arrangement and , I dunno , maybe another 1000 people.
http://www.gotickets.com/seating_charts/end_stage/toyota_center.php
She couldn’t even get motivated to send a picture other than than the Rouge cutout?
I want to know who taught her those things & when. Because you really should know what you’re talking about before you talk. I realize that’s never stopped her before so I’m not surprised it isn’t now. IF she shows up for the event at all.
I attended one of these events in my town…all of the speakers were really good.
Suzy Orman. Colin Powell (I have seen him multiple times) and even guiliani was good.
There was no political talk….All motivational. I will say I was stunned at the size of the crowd. I would estimate about 7-8 thousand peeps.
Hmmmm, anything in the fine print about no photos or recording devices?
I was sent to one of those things years ago, and mostly it was a massive bore. Colin Powell was worth hearing, and Christopher Reeves brought tears to my eyes. They seemed like the only sincere ones in the bunch. Otherwise it was a pretty stupid pep talk about nothing.
I’m guessing she might show for this one.
the obvious answers to those bullet points
quit
quit
quit
quit
lie
words are interchangable
I went to the motivational day in Anchorage…..one reason she is now in there is that her religion fits with the organizers’. It appeared to me to be more of a mass inspirational/religious rally than motivational (as in Brian Tracy, Anthony Robbins, Robert Kyosaki)…….just mho. There was one area, finances, that seemed worthwhile, but what they really want to do is sign you up for future seminars, have you buy the materials, etc.
sounds like a fun opportunity for a Merry Pranksters group to make a foray into the enemy camp – provided you bring your own camp stool, pack a lunch, and have suitably reinforced liquid refreshment, according to that review.
plus, getting on the distribution list opens up more eavesdropping opportunities, si? But otherwise, SpamArrest does a great hands-off job of filtering out the dreck, so you never have to hear from anyone again.
“How to Become a Person of Influence”. Most people would say, act with integrity, set a good example, good work ethic, have many humanitarian-related working records, or volunteer records behind one’s belt, all those examples motivate people to want to learn to serve, and emulate their supervisors, employees into more compassionate human beings.
How’s does Sarah pull off this one? Describe how to do a photo shoot and interview of Runner’s world, exploit oneself by showing leg, upper thigh, wear lots of red, high heels, caked-on makeup, cosmetic surgery, lash out through press releases to those who criticize, hold grudges, use the children as props, husband as bodyguard, and private eye, make hundreds of thousands of dollars by writing thoughts, that have no bearing on helping anyone else out there.
INFLUENCE? What has this woman done yet to preserve and help out those less fortunate with Down’s Syndrome babies, where is HER influence coming into play, using this influencial opportunity Sarah supposedly has, to mediate like she promised to families that would like to see improvements helping the disabled carry out fulfilling lives. Pfft!
I was astonished to learn the Ukraine has it’s own Sarah Palin wackjob who actually has a shot at leadership. What is it with pretty crazies that this time in history actually gives opporunity? Scary…imagine the world’s countries led by pretty, preening narcissistic idiots. You want to see war? Let a couple of those women square off, and watch out.
I talked of the Ukrainian wackjob without leaving the link, sorry. Here it is:
http://www.tnr.com/article/world/kiev-chameleon
All she could talk about is how to quit your job and become an instant millionaire.
Empathy bellies can solve lots of problems creatively, especially when you vary the sizes on any given day!
Also, too, if you scrub computers and official Alaska newspapers of any and all pld photos and videos, you can hide almost anything? Like the fact that you were not pg when you said you were.
If you can get your hooks into the religious nutjobs out there, you too can be RICH.
See Falwell, Oral Roberts. Tony Perkins, Creflo DOLLAR….
It’s the Amway/Quixtar crowd: Peter and Tamara Lowe, Zig Ziglar.
Ambots need this seminar in their “toolbox” to demonstrate to their “upline” that they are serious about “workin’ the plan”…
“Peter Lowe, born in Pakistan to missionary parents, grew up in India and Canada. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Carleton University in Ottawa. He is the founder, President and the CEO of a huge organization – Peter Lowe International worth over 25 million dollars. This has its base at Tampa in Florida and has the aim of making a positive impact on the society. It wants to help people achieve success irrespective of their varied backgrounds. This organization organizes the largest seminars – Peter Lowe’s Success Seminars in the world at different places across the coasts of United States. More than half a million people attend these seminars each year. These seminars give people a full day to learn, understand and imbibe the basic idea behind such seminars. The idea underlying the seminars is Success with Integrity. Such seminars help people understand potentials within them and then utilize them for the benefit of all.
Peter Lowe’s seminars do not concentrate only on business. Instead, it also imbibes and combines spirituality, music, patriotism and other inspirational messages from Peter. These are the greatest motivational and unique seminars of the world.
Peter Lowe has immense faith in Jesus Christ and spreads the gospel through such seminars. He does not aim at high profits for holding and conducting these seminars. He travels to over hundred countries and speaks to more than a quarter million people each year. He does not entertain or bring in only Christians at these seminars, instead, his main aim is to enrich people’s lives beyond money. He wants to spread the message of spirituality world over through his educative seminars.
Peter Lowe begins his seminars by highlighting lives of successful people – those who dared to succeed despite all adversities. Then he gives a gospel presentation before the next speaker. He stresses that greatest adversities present the greatest opportunities for every person on the earth.”
“Peter Lowe is a Christian, card-carrying conservative Republican since age 22 with a huge ministry. His reasoning was the same as that of my pastor, and he also pointed out that thousands of people have come to know Christ as a result of testimonies at the Success Seminars.” Zig Ziglar, 2002
USA Today
http://www.usatoday.com/educate/entre2.pdf:
In an April 2001 Success story, Lowe wrote that “in my business, organization is everything.” But his new company seemed disorganized at best. Vendors weren’t paid. Contracts with top speakers were canceled — though their names still were used to sell seats.
Last September, “Peter Lowe’s Success 2001″ sold thousands of tickets for speeches by Clinton, TV show host Montel Williams, Mrs. Fields Cookies founder Debbi Fields and others in Chicago’s United Center. But the star attractions were no-shows. And the event was shifted to the smaller Odeum Sports & Expo Center with little advance warning.
The result? Angry ticket buyers and a major traffic jam.
“They had canceled all the speakers, but they didn’t tell anybody,” says Jim Keppler, whose Virginia-based speaking agency is seeking arbitration over more than $1 million in alleged contract breaches by Success Events. “That’s when it became clear to me that there was unprofessional, if not fraudulent, conduct.”
…
The Better Business Bureau of West Florida has logged dozens of complaints against Lowe’s old and new companies from customers seeking refunds for arena events and motivational tapes they say weren’t worth the cost.
Van Etten, meanwhile, had problems of his own.
Last May, the SEC sought a contempt order against him for delaying payment of $25,000 owed in a settlement involving International Heritage Inc., a separate North Carolina business. SEC investigators said the now-bankrupt firm was a pyramid scam that raised more than $150 million from investors through misleading promotional materials.
…
“I wish I had enough money to pay all the people The Success Companies should have paid. But I can’t do that,” says Lowe, who has launched a new motivational speaking firm called Life Win. “That’s something The Success Companies is going to have to answer to.”
..
“We want to know where is the money, who’s got assets, what happened to the company,” says Mark Kelly, lawyer for a Tampa printer trying to collect $141,134 in unpaid bills. “Everyone’s running for cover like cockroaches when the light goes on.”
Wife Tamara Lowe is the new Tammy Faye Baker:
“Tamara has worked with five United States presidents and numerous heads of state including British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Canadian Prime Minister Joe Clark, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. Tamara has also worked with countless celebrities, athletes and newsmakers including Colin Powell, Joe Montana, George Foreman, Goldie Hawn, Charlton Heston, Bill Cosby, Christopher Reeve, Billy Graham, and Mother Teresa.
A former drug addict and dropout, Tamara’s message is dynamic and inspiring.”
Oh, hey. I see where this is going! Bristol’s new PR/consulting company.
http://www.cbn.com/700club/guests/bios/tamara_lowe042309.aspx
“During each seminar there is a straightforward, unapologetic, non-religious presentation for the gospel to the more than 200,000 annual attendees. Every year, Tamara hosts about 30 of these seminars in America’s biggest arenas, with tens of thousands of people at each meeting.”
OMG!!! Can the world support Two Evita clones?
It only proves, sex does sell more than cars.
The Gas Princess in the Ukraine, and Queen Esther in Alaska.
LOL, except it is really sad.

Are you serious??
Soooo… if a company signs up its employees for the $19, is that company violating the employees privacy rights by disclosing personal info in exchange for the reduced admission fee?
Gotta love those teabaggers… “don’t give big government your money; give it to me instead and I’ll give you nothing in return!”
It’s not about the principle, it’s about… me making money at your expense. Suckers being born every minute and whatnot.
Oh and did I mention – the seminars “imbibe”.
Check your brain at the door…
I would resign if my company made me attend a Palin lecture (yes, even in these troubled times). I would imagine that any intelligent manager would not be interested in Palin’s knowledge(?) but I do believe that evangelical and tea party believers will flock to hear the wisdom of the sacred one.
Speaking of tea parties…David Brooks wrote a disturbing column about them in the NY Times today.
Interesting comments from a blog:
http://www.gonemild.com/2008/11/personality-test-results-gullible.html
“I saw Tamara at a Get Motivated Seminar…I was flabbergasted at how Narcissistic she was. She talked about herself ad nauseum and even craftily worked in pictures of herself with as many famous people as possible, proclaiming that she was not name dropping by doing so. Her presence in the pictures served absolutely no purpose – if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck… well, it probably is name dropping.
Then she painfully pleads for you to go out and help the world (yes, she really did say that) by buying her books… And don’t be selfish by buying only one for yourself, but buy them as gifts to everyone you know – “buy cases of them.” Seriously? Perhaps this is how she got on the best seller list. People were applauding this embarrassing act of begging and I felt like I was one of the few not drinking the Kool Aid.
I was then teletransported to another dimension and I’m suddenly at a Christian Convention. A big old Jesus-fest. To the point that she asks us (if we want to to be anything in this world and not go to hell thereafter) to each silently affirm that we each need Jesus in our hearts and need to reconnect with our love for Him.
Huh? I check my ticket and it is still proclaiming to be a business seminar. I look at my employee, who is Jewish, and she is staring painstakingly at the floor. I mouth, “I’m SO Sorry” and she gives me an uncomfortable nod.”
“…It was a total insult to the professionals who follow other faiths or belief systems and mind their own business about it. No wonder half the world thinks we’re arrogant and disrespectful of their religious beliefs.”
“I had a similar experience. It’s very uncomfortable to accidentally attend a revival meeting when you’re not a Christian.”
“As a Christian I found the whole thing uncomforable. True Christianity is about relationships, not how many people you can do a Jesus rap in front of. I actually sent out an apology email on behalf of the Christian faith to fellow employees once we got back in the office.”
“I attended Get Motivated yesterday with several co-workers. I too found myself sitting in a Revival and found it somewhat uncomfortable after Tamara’s presentation. …I was SHOCKED at her ‘alter call’.”
Oh yes, it is exactly right for Mrs. Palin. ALL the same people, packaged in the same ways, with the same attention.

“She’s lookin’ at you, Jon Stewart. You too, Stephen Colbert. You too, Washington Post. You too, Star-Telegram, for reporting that Tamara and Peter Lowe “launched Tampa, Fla.-based Get Motivated Seminars Inc., after Success Events International shut down in 2001, owing millions in unpaid bills and facing complaints from attendees of false advertising.” And … well, you get the idea.”
I’m really having trouble making sense of the world today. Can someone explain how a person who mangles the English language, who can barely form a coherent thought or utter a cogent sentence, makes a lving as a SPEAKER??? The irony hurts my brain…
Rachel Maddow interviewed Tamara Lowe, executive vice president of the Get Motivated Seminars Incorporated, on her show October 21, 2009. You can read the transcript at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33431346.
One thing that Rachel brought up with Lowe in the interview was the reaction from unsolicited emails sent in by viewers responding to the promotional broadcast during the preceding night’s show:
“…something sort of unexpected happened, when we talked about Get Motivated on the show last night … we got a raft of unsolicited e-mails from viewers of this show, people who said they had attended Get Motivated seminars …And they told us that they had experienced Get Motivated as a-essentially, as a money making event… I wanted to ask you to address that perception, that this is a that this is an event at which people will be expected to sign up for other things that will cost them a lot of money?”
Lowe said of course not, they just offer seminars to people “who want to continue their education…like how to start a business, or how to invest their own money or things like that. But it’s certainly not required. It’s simply offered as a service for people who would like that.”
Rachel also addressed complaints that religious indoctrination is pounded into the audience by at least some of the evangelical Christian speakers. One Jewish viewer commented by email to Rachel that at the “business seminar” she attended, a Christian speaker preached for 30 minutes in an essentially evangelical religious service that “you can’t be healthy or happy without Jesus”.
Rachel also addressed another viewer’s complaint in an earlier email, prior to this show: “…somebody who attended a Portland, Oregon event says that for months after he filled out a registration form to get his ticket to the event, he got lots and lots and lots of phone calls from what he called the Get Motivated operation trying to convince him to buy various products.”
So to re-cap:
Rachel’s viewers told her
1) “the event seemed to have sales pitches disguised as motivational speeches, interspersed with other motivational talk”.
2) Unspoken in the marketing of this event is the religious drive of the Christian speakers to bring ya to Jesus.
3) Their marketing department or vendors continue to hit you up, for months afterwards, to buy their various products.
What an exercise in head-bangery! I get queasy just thinking about sitting through hours of this trash.
This may only be the penultimate sign. If you see her shilling for anti-cellulite cream, or in a leotard squeezing a spring loaded contraption between her thighs with that, “I’m so totally getting off” look on her face, then maybe we can assume she’s circling the drain.
Will she show up? Will she say she never committed? Is this a joke? Maybe she needs to pay back the money her publisher gave her for so many of her books selling at $4.50 in package deals across the country.
I think I can help here….
How to Successfully Manage and Balance Your Personal and Professional Priorities: Set up 2 Email Accounts – one for Official State Business that the people who elected you can see & access and one for Official State Business that the people who elected you have no business seeing.
How to Overcome Obstacles with Creative Solutions…..By Lying & Making Things Up, then Blaming the Media.
The Secrets to Effective Decision Making i.e. Stringing Conservative Buzz Words together to form a sentence then Blame the Media. Also too, randomly make pronouncements & issue op-eds in newspapers about things you have no clue about.
How to Have Grace Under Fire – Write book filled with lies about all the mean people who have been mean to you then go around the country shilling said book.
How to Become a Person of Influence – Set up a Facebook page and Post your every waking thought. Also too, make up something about Death Panels in the health care bill. Plus, Blame the Media.
This is part of her Billy Graham and James Dobson networking. She’ll show up.
And they will have paid her a great deal of cash for her time…
Rachel Maddow covered this group some time ago (sorry, can’t remember the date). At that time, former president Geroge W. Bush was one of the motivational speakers. Some one interviewed people exiting the affair, asking which speaker the audience seemed to like the most. The winner was Terry Bradshaw.
The organizers are a couple with strong conservative leanings. Rachel had the woman as her guest, asking some pretty tough questions. The thing that bothered Rachel was all of the associated motivational books, tapes and additional sessions– items sold in conjunction with the motivational speeches. Rachel dismissed it all as a load of stuff (not her exact words, but that’s the sense of it). If you bought an expensive package of motivational experience, there was nothing there in the end. However, the organizers’ motivation was clear; they were taking in plenty of money.
I enjoy Rachel’s show because she really does her homework, and asks good questions. She has been doing serious research on the C Street crowd of conservative, religious politicians. And, she really did her homework in her reporting on this crowd. I guess GWB was busy; it’s a good thing that they could get Sarah.
I’ll try to be civil but this could cause the earth to tilt – not for the reason you think…. When all the fried-chicken, hush-puppied, BBQ-Laden, church-bus waiting folks either get to the church parking lots within 500 miles to gather and wait for the local HS school bus chartered to carry the tea parties to the Toyota center in Houston, the weight may be too much for the pavement.. If the parking lots don’t fail, the highways along the way surely will…. five, maybe seven degrees of additional tilt…. The Toyota center is a multi-use center but is STILL rated by natural loading rules for lbs. per square inch of space available versus load expected. It may collapse…
PS I didn’t see Elsie’s post (above). Thanks for the great description!
What about George?
Was he fired?
Lacking motivation?
Does he have something better to do?
Does he have enough money after all?
Whole thing too embarrassing?
In any case, congratulations to Palin for (finally) getting Bush’s job!
As motivational aids/inspirational visuals/props, will SPs two youngest children and “Dang! Have you seen Todd?” be there also, too? Inquiring minds want to know… beth.
It’s a pure and simple money makin’ scam…in the name of Jesus, of course.
Perfect for the grifter.
If my company made me attend a Christian indoctrination seminar…..I would be more than spitting mad. I would be complaining to HR. I can’t see how any business would want to put themselves at risk for making employees attend a come to Jesus meeting.
I wouldn’t pay them a dime even if it was for a boots on the ground report. I don’t think anyone else should either. Why support an organization like this? You will just be adding to the report about how many people attended Palin’s event. Why support her like that?
Now, a protest or a PR campaign to let people know the true motivation of this organization….I’m in.
I bet the small print says that these “exact” speakers are not guaranteed to be present. It seems they have a history of a bait and switch.
“How to Become a Person of Influence”. Ha-ha!
I shall pass over the easy “under the influence” joke and just say that “person of influence” reminded me of the “women find me likeable” shirt I & my friend made a while back:

Drag 19 dollars worth of one dollar bills through a trailer park and surely S’error will be the first one running after the money. We’ve got the quitter’s MO, it always about money for S’error. If she actually and honestly cared about anything else, she would have been able to answer Couric’s question; what do you read?
Regarding the “interestingly coiffed” Tamara Lowe. Gee, I haven’t seen a hairstyle like that on a grown-up before.
Must be a new version of the mullett…business (ok, straight) bangs in the front, birthday-party ringlets in the rest.
Just stoopin’ to a little morning snark with coffee.
Well, if you substitute all her topics with how “not” to do everything listed, then she’ll be perfectly fine.
$19 for the whole entire office? What if we came wearing Obama shirts? Could we still come and watch Quitty give her Sh&tty speech?
Could she maybe pay us instead?
If SP can’t make it, can BSMP,LLC come in her place?
“Thanks….but NO Thanks!”
Uhhh, this should be interesting.
There will be thousands coming to hear Sarah mangle the english language. It will sort of be like a speech dyslexic hater rally. Sarah will be calling the slack jawed in her audience “good Americans” and vilifying the POTUS while still introducing Todd as the First Dude, and alas, swinging her poor diaper and t-shirt wearing only baby on her hip.
Unfortunately–(not really) I live in the Midwest and will miss this
debacle of lunacy.
Pleas go to IM, Gyphen needs some hits on Bristol’s “job”. We needs this to go MSM. S’error must be exposed.

Perfect opportunity for a brand new embarrassing prank! Protesting outside also too!
LOL, it’s a joke she’s given the chance to open her stupid mouth. This event company is just trying to cash in on her fan base while they can. She’ll be boo’d off the stage if she tries this route.
They can’t prevent people in these events from recording or note taking, it’s supposed to be educational. I can’t wait for the media to infiltrate this just to catch her bogus lies. Maybe an investigative reporter can show what a ripoff these seminars are. And how they force those in attendance to listen to alter calls.
Alert the media people, get them on her trail. Don’t the speakers go city to city? oh, so many wonderful opportunities to give her grief and call her a hypocrit. Will she be parading her props? she can’t do this alone ya know, she’s too chicken sh*t.
Does Colin Powell have tax problems? What’s he doing hanging around this Love Boat of political has-beens?
I still haven’t forgiven him for his behavior during the Bush administration, but Powell never struck me as the type to shill for this kind of get-rich-quick scheme. He might as well be selling ‘Colin’s Magic Colon Cleanser’ on late night teevee.
S’error needs to put her butt in a chair and start writing those speeches.
The last time she gave a speech ( can’t remember which one ?) didn’t she have MONTHS to prepare for this one big occasion and it came out as
‘ word salad ‘…?
She has only 1 month…. and van Fleabag WILL be bothering her with Notes as to what he is supposed to do about the court custody case…. ” that my Mother has no part of “..
AND… if you have never been to one of these motivational type settings it is VERY common to bring along a tape recorder to tape the speeches as part of your notes for later. To apply what the speaker was talking about.
THAT was common practice even 20 years ago.
No amount of SArahPac handlers and Meg Stapleguns will prevent THAT from happening. And those recording devices are soooo much smaller these days.
That’s the same list of things Sarah can’t do. I don’t think I have laughed that hard in a few days, thanks for the drink warning, coffee sure would have fired across my computer.

Thats funny.
One other bit, notice in the photo EVERYONE but SP is looking at the camera, ie making eye contact? That speaks volumes. Or am I READING to much into it?
I used to be a public school teacher. I don’t know about other states, but here in broke CA teachers have to attend inservice days arranged by the school or district in order to improve skills, etc. I would have loved to have attended seminars that did that, and in 38 years of teaching I did–once! The rest of them were a waste of time and money. After I got tenure, I just worked in my classroom–a day to arrange, write plans etc, etc. was greatly appreciated. When they started signing people in to the events (too many of us making better use of our time) I took the work with me. A couple of my colleagues actually took the days off. They didn’t lie and say they were sick, they said why. And took a day’s pay dock.
We had the same types of speakers, just with “educationese” titles. Sounds pretty darned much the same, except for the religious part. And we even got that one year in a public school. Many of the teachers, including me, that represented the Not Real America were p.o.’d. And I’m a church attending type. Just not their church.
If you have to go, take something to do with your time. BOTG reporting is good, but an ipod is a life saver!
Bea—Colin Powell was on last year’s Get Motivated Tour also– he was the headliner and spoke last. I went to my local one last year and was amazed at all of the additional workshops offered that people scrambled after for a $1000 a pop for some.
Zig Ziglar is having “memory” problems due to age and had his daughter there to prompt him into the right story. It was a little sad. Lute Olson spoke but is having legal problems of his own.
On my local one of these this year in AZ, Laura Bush is the planned speaker.
I’m going to pass.

Isn’t that the picture from “Going Renegade” ? The one that looks like she’s wearing a wig made from a dead octopus thrown on her head?
Does she ever wash her hair!
There are several Motivational/Demotivational poster creation sites where you can load a picture and a couple of lines of text- I’ve played with Sarah photos, but haven’t found sufficiently sarcastic quotes to fit them. Yet.
I didn’t attend the one in Fort Worth with Bush as headliner, but I did get caught in the traffic of people waiting to park. People at work who arrived later than me were stuck in traffic for almost an hour. So these things are well-attended.
Jon Stewart covered the Fort Worth one, and it was pretty funny.
Grace under Fire? Is she kidding? I’d love for someone to ask her if Tweeting her insanity is an example of Grace.
Chooch.
Oh and @53 trisha “It’s a pure and simple money makin’ scam…in the name of Jesus, of course. Perfect for the grifter.”
For the Troops, too, also.
So do I understand correctly that anyone who pays the $225 on the day of the “event” will not have to submit any personal information? I’d be up for sending some money to send someone for a boots-on-the-ground report. Also, too, that person could be compensated (by us, if anyone else is interested) for the loss of a day’s pay.
Elsie & Anne in Texas – I’m in The Woodlands. Actually had a woman tell me at Halloween 2008 that she cried when she saw my Obama poster in the front yard. (For those not from Houston, The Woodland is a wonderful place but conservative, white bread, and Stepford wife-ish, hence I needed to establish some liberal creds. )
I’ve been shaking my head at the ads for this event wondering how in the world Palin could speak on the topics listed. I might be tempted to go but I bet Palin doesn’t show, which would make it even more of a waste of time than usual.
“How to Successfully Manage and Balance Your Personal and Professional Priorities
How to Overcome Obstacles with Creative Solutions
The Secrets to Effective Decision Making
How to Have Grace Under Fire, and
How to Become a Person of Influence”
LOL – does anyone, including Sarah, really believe she’s qualified to talk about ANY of those topics? My favorites though, are the ones I bolded, especially overcoming obstacles with creative solutions. So, she’s going to tell people that the solution to obstacles is to just lie and keep repeating it in the hopes that someone will think it’s the truth?
Good grief. I wouldn’t be able to sit through a day of that. Maybe I could listen to Colin Powell, but he’s the only one.

******
Duct, who knows if, on the day of the event, it will be announced that the place is sold out? I wouldn’t want to bet the farm on the fact that any tickets really are sold at the door, since the whole premise of all this seems to get personal info to continually harangue people to buy the marketed products for the next several months after attending.
Whether it’s $19 or $1900, the whole blasted hoopla seems overpriced and underwhelming, except for Colin Powell. I really admire THAT man.
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Bush sure did a number on Colin Powell, didn’t he? Swept away all his credibility and dignity with one big Ol’ lie of WMD’s.
BTW, that hair on Tamara is creeping me out. It looks like she attached a poodle to each side of her head. Really? She goes out in public like that?
I also saw Rachel’s show and interview with that Tamara woman. She just kept smiling as Rachel read scathing emails sent to the show from attendees complaining primarily about the religious overtones and loons hawking crap at the event. Actually when the event was in Denver sometime last fall they held the same thing at a local venue on a big screen, like a pay for tv boxing match. The company one of my clients works for required staff to attend. One made up an excuse so only had to attend 1/2 day other one read a book for much of the presentation. W wasn’t on board yet but they did have Laura Bush & Colin. Customer told me Colin was alright and Laura spent most of her time defending W’s “legacy”. OT, but speaking of Laura & the recent “book thread” American Wife was an absolutely great read.
If any one has read Crazy for God he was a preacher at these types of events and he kind of tells how they work and it was just as a lot of you say preaching and telling people they will go to hell if they don’t believe what is said them the tapes and books for sale for the gullible. He did it for years till he got sick of it and yes it was the billy graham ect bunch. Now he belongs I think he said to a more main stream church,He also has received death threats for telling what was going on and exposing the far religious right or so he says in his book.
I’m sure the speaker will ONLY be on the stage and not be close enough to the audience. How many of the Bots will find a copy of ” Going Rogue ” and show up with it in hand thinking they will get it signed…. I’m thinking many.
I can see her multitude of Fans waving it in the air at her, ” Sign my book Sarah?”
As someone else suggested, I can see the event organizers sending out a pre-printed list of questions she is supposed to cover. They list the question… and she has a space to ‘ fill in the blank ‘… blah… blah. Maybe she will even ask Piper what she should say as the answer…?
If she ‘ consults with ‘ Bristol as to the answers to the questionaire…? Bristol might have a nice little check show up in that new BSMP.LCC bank account as well. Don’t put it past her.
I don’t expect a speech and I don’t think it fits the organizers Plan.
Besides… she has the BIG Tea-Bag speech to prepare for later that month.
That’s where the real venom and hate spews… the one thing she knows about and is good at.
Forgot, Grace under fire LOL really Grace under fire she doesn’t know the meaning of grace under fire.If anyone does it is President Obama and Hillary Clinton. She can write a book trying to destroy people and that is called grace under fire. She can have people baned from a book signing and that is called grace under fire,LOL far from it IMO
A blogger at Bree’s site has posted a link to another event she is listed on for October 2010:
http://bpcbakbusconf.com/promo
oh, I get it now – someone is paid for their name to be promoted as a speaker for this event, but they don’t have to actually show up and speak. Perfect setup for Palin, of course.
Really the only topic(s) Sarah Palin can speak to with any authority:
How To Get Tight Abs, The Art of Scarf Wearing, and How to Conceal a 5th Pregnancy for Seven Months.
Also, too, How to Control Your Labor and Delivery When Flying from Dallas, TX to Anchorage , Alaska.
Thanks, CG, for the Daily Show clip of GW Bush as motivational seminar headliner!
Hoping this closing ceremony will involve a battle between the stars- Sarah vs. Tamara. Bumpit-thrashing vs. curling-iron sword-work. With Jello.
To my way of thinking, if it ain’t announced on Sister Sarah’s FB pages, it ain’t gonna happen. And, even then, it might still be ‘rescinded.’ (see IM for a ‘take back’ of an ‘announced’ event.)
Newly (semi-)emerged Meg must be working overtime: keeping up with such a sought-after (in solid pockets of red -with or without props), busy (protectin’ herself and family from the AKBlogger Witches’ hate and spew…and from the MSMs who keep “makin’ things up”), gal. It must be hard for Meg to keep such a plethora of Sister Sarah’s ‘truths’ from stumbling all over each other as they change from day to day, audience to audience, whim to whim. beth.
Despite my problems with what Colin Powell did for Bush, I have to give him great credit for helping Obama win the election. Remember what he said when he endorsed Obama? He narrowed it down to Sarah Palin – he said that she was in NO WAY qualified to be POTUS, which is the job of the VP (to be able to assume the Presidency if need be).
I think it was a major turning point in the election.
We all know that scarah never forgets a perceived slight – will she refuse to shake his hand? I see a long list of “demands” forthcoming from her highness including “no Press,” “no recording devices,” “travel and hotel for the whole fam damily” etc.
I predict “no show.”
Which one of us could go without waving half a peace sign? I know I couldn’t. I’d rather stick forks into my eyes.
I agree with Lori. Also, too.
a review of the seminar:
“I really enjoyed Colin Powell and Rudy Giovanni but it wasn’t worth a day out of the business to hear them speak. “Sully” was good too, but not entirely motivational. Get ready for some old time religion, because there’s lots of it. Oh, and infomercials too. Way more commercials than content. And downright begging from organizer, Tamara Lowe – please buy my books and accept Jesus as your savior. I felt like I spent the day at the Davidian compound. Very weird and creepy. The Emcee supports the fake blond stereotype with lots of cheerleader style screaming. I felt more motivated when I arrived than when I left.”

I would love to see the whole MSNBC office go to this, Keith, Rachel, Chris, et al !
Good one, wild tortuga. That was SO easy to imagine!
This may be a trial run for Scarah, I checked the other seminar dates, which are previous to hers, this is her only gig listed. I hope she bombs.
Interestingly, Laura Bush is speaker at two of them.
They do not allow video or audio taping. They do allow cameras. They sell no books, tapes, cds or dvds. So it sounds like Scarah can’t sell her books. But they do have a a pre-ordered workbook, they don’t say it’s free.
Money back guarantee, no questions asked.

We’re going to sell you on goal achievement! We’re going to sell you on continuing education! And we’re going to sell you on how much more YOU can do and be!”
Four fun facts about a Peter Lowe Success seminar
It takes three semi-trailers carrying 120,000 pounds of equipment to haul in the sound and lighting equipment at a Peter Lowe Success Seminar.
Over 60 pounds of explosive powder is used during a year’s worth of Peter Lowe’s Success Seminars.
The average adult laughs 52 times during the course of a Peter Lowe Success Seminar (average laughs-per-day of people not at seminar: 7).
Average number of standing ovations at a Peter Lowe Success Seminar: 16.
http://weeklywire.com/ww/11-02-98/boston_feature_1.html
Nine thousand people, 200 platitudes, one Henry Kissinger. Examining the motivations of Peter Lowe’s Success Seminar.
“I’m sitting in Loge Section 22, Row 7, Seat 17 of the FleetCenter, where the latest incarnation of Peter Lowe’s fabulously popular “Success” series of motivational seminars has just begun.
Vitale, the motormouthed commentator for ESPN’s college basketball telecasts, is the seminar’s opening speaker, and it’s clear he’s supposed to serve as some kind of human alarm clock. Entering the arena to Snap’s “I’ve Got the Power,” Vitale scampers around the stage like his loafers are on fire, whooping up the local crowd by praising the likes of Larry Bird and Nomar Garciaparra, and more than once invoking his trademark Vital-ism, “Awesome, baaaaaaaaaby.”
…
Indeed, we learn that it’s pretty fabulous to be Dick Vitale. Because, as he reminds us on his way off stage, while the rest of us going to be trapped in the FleetCenter for the next nine hours, he’s off to catch a plane to Florida, where he’s got a “two o’clock tee time in Sarasota, baaaaaaaaaby.”
…
By the time Peter Lowe’s Success Seminar is over, I will have listened to rich and famous people talk about being rich and famous so many times that I will be wondering if the only way to achieve true happiness to become — yes — rich and famous, just like them.
…
Peter Lowe, the mastermind behind the Success Seminars, is a gangly 40-year-old whose buggy eyes and thick, fire-engine-red hair make him look like the kid brother of Danny Elfman, the lead singer of the late-’80s band Oingo Boingo. Before the seminar, leafing through Peter Lowe’s Success Yearbook ($19.95 US, $27.95 Canada, free with seminar ticket stub), I learn the following things about Lowe: he was born in Lahore, Pakistan, the son of missionary parents; he is a Canadian citizen; he and his wife, Tamara, were married on a riverboat on the Mississippi; and he enjoys (in this order) skiing, skydiving, bungee jumping, hiking, and boating.
…
A Success Seminar, it should be pointed out, is not a business seminar. You won’t learn the finer points of, say, the capital gains tax for your 49 bucks. The vast majority of people who attend Success Seminars work in sales of some sort, and they range from the corporate to the self-employed to the chronically jobless. They don’t come here looking for nitty-gritty advice. They come looking for motivation. And as Peter Lowe knows, nothing motivates today’s Americans more than celebrities.
…
In terms of star wattage, the FleetCenter lineup does not disappoint. There’s Vitale, Ziglar, and Popcorn; Reeve, Bledsoe, and Kissinger; motivators Brian Tracy and Dan Kennedy; nutritionist Dr. Jack Groppel; and ice-cream kingpins Ben & Jerry. “One of the greatest collections of leaders and experts ever to gather for a business seminar in Boston!” a booming voice announces over a loudspeaker at the seminar’s outset, which is less impressive than it sounds at first (ever to gather for a business seminar?).
In reality, the seminar’s quirky roster makes it look like a combination of an infomercial and Hollywood Squares.
But as Peter Lowe will remind us ad nauseam, all of these people are famous. Whether they can motivate us, however, remains to be seen.
…
Though they may differ in style, Lowe’s motivational speakers all share a basic business philosophy and view of the world. The principal tenet of this philosophy is that the free-enterprise system is very, very good for everyone.
The speeches, it turns out, are actually little more than commercials for the speakers themselves.
…
We get Kissinger right around noon. Immediately, Nixon’s former secretary of state sets his own agenda. Where every speaker to this point has bounced around the FleetCenter stage strapped to a mobile microphone, he stands firmly behind a podium. After the three motivational speakers, Kissinger — with his Nobel Peace Prize, his lifetime of global foreign-policy influence, and his thick German accent — brings to mind the old Sesame Street song “One of These Things Is Not Like the Others.”
When Kissinger finishes, Peter Lowe bounds out on the stage, clapping his hands. “Henry Kissinger!” he cries. “Now who wants to win a trip to Disney World?”
This kind of weird dichotomy is what the Success Seminars are all about. Ultra-serious world leader gives ultra-serious speech, and is followed by amusement-park raffle. But that’s exactly the point of having so many celebrities at the Success Seminars. It’s not that they’re going to say anything the audience finds particularly prescient or life-changing. It’s just that they are here.
…
Because when you get right down to it, the main message behind a Success Seminar isn’t any business principle or hidden sales trend — it’s the basic truth that people everywhere covet and aspire to fame. People want to get as close to the stars as possible, as if their greatness will somehow rub off.
…
In this spirit, we are finally confronted by the true star of the Boston Success Seminar: Drew Bledsoe, the fresh-faced, six-foot-five quarterback of the New England Patriots. Bledsoe, whose hair is still wet from a post-practice shower, has come to the FleetCenter in a helicopter from Foxboro Stadium, and when he walks on-stage, he zips a pair of autographed footballs into the crowd.
This I can understand. Athlete worship is as old as athletics themselves, so it’s no mystery why the Success Seminar crowd applauds vigorously after every Bledsoe utterance. We like Drew. We want to be him, young and rich, riding helicopters and playing on Sundays.
But sometimes just wanting something isn’t enough. You won’t learn this dispiriting fact at a motivational seminar. Motivation-through-envy can allow you to achieve certain things, but the natural laws of the universe dictate that some goals will always elude you. That’s the pitfall of star-worship, and the fine print of Peter Lowe’s Success Seminar. Just because you like Drew Bledsoe doesn’t mean that you can be him. Motivation alone, after all, can’t make you six-foot-five.
For the GWB debut Maddow sent Kent Jones, he couldn’t get in being press. He did interview some folks outside afterward. They mostly liked Bradshaw.
winski – i’m an overweight liberal. and i am not alone in this. i am offended by your remarks.
“How to Overcome Obstacles with Creative Solutions”
Now HERE is a subject she knows something about.
Empathy belly- enough said
But S’arah, and or at least Her Fans ( well one Family Member as well -Chuck Heath ) have decided to take the lead about that ” obstacle ” in the court system.
Levi vs Bristol. They want to harass and try to influence Judges because they know better and are just smarter than some ‘ Judge ‘… what do they know.
Jessica Beehive and Eddie Smurf have joined Sarah’s Army as recruits.
SNAP TO SOLDIER!! (Chuckie will be on Eddies show today )
Celtic Diva has reported on it. Bree Palin and Palingates reported back to Diva’s page and then Andrew Sullivan linked back to those stories and the BSMP.LCC connection.
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/01/bristol-palins-new-company.html
You can see Battle about to begin….because the Live Feedjit shows shot after shot of volleys coming in from the blogosphere from these links
AND… the HP is reporting about the story Gryphen had about the BSMP.LCC connection that was also covered on Rachel Maddow last night.
Jessica BeeHive and Eddie just stirred up a ‘ hornets nest ‘ with a big stick.
Watch out… somebody WILL get stung.
I immediately thought this would be another book selling event for Palin but apparently not based on the last poster. I noticed that Going Rogue was listed as #1bestseller for several weeks. Then I thought, No this doesn’t reflect sales of normal books that people buy or order but rather is due to forcing people buy books if they wanted to see her for (2 seconds).
It was actually pretty ingenius though because it put Palin in front of her adoring fans, gave her media coverage for a few weeks, led to record book sales = instant cash to her, gave the impression of a successful & popular book and served another way to force feed the Palinbots the BS in her book.
I just hope “The Lies of Sarah Palin” is launched with the same media blitz when it’s released.
I almost forgot, did anyone else hear on Rachel Maddow that Bristol Palin is the “owner” of Palin’s new LLC business? Apparently the business was set up by Van Flein (?sp) under codes that cover lobbying, public speaking etc. They claim that Bristol is the Ambassador for an Abstinence Group and say this fits the criteria for the business codes. Yes, I can totally see how she’be be the ideal spokesperson for The Abstinence Group!
Anne @ 102 – yes, IM covered it yesterday or the day before. He appears to not like how RM covered it, but I see no problem in how she dealt with the issue. It is an issue worth following.
Last month, you had to buy a $29 book and stand in line all night to get a audience with the Ice Queen Palin. Next month, you can take the whole fam damily for $19 to hear her. She is a modern day 8-track tape.
I’m ashamed of Colin Powell. For a man with his experience and credentials , a top general and former SOS, to prostitute himself as a motivation-seminar speaker — and billed beneath Sarah Palin! — is a disgrace to him and a sad commentary on our country.
IM has an update on Rachel’s airing of Bristol’s new company. Additionally, it has been picked up by HuffPost and there are pages and pages of comments already.

Another O/T – Palin’s followers have started a campaign of threatening and harassing the judges in Tripp’s custody case. Celtic Diva has a good post on it and Bree Palin has some screen shots of the actual statements from C4P, Palin’s FB page, as well as Tweets. Eddie Burke has also gotten in on the action.
Colin Powell!?!
Looks like the Steele man got it right for once: GOPers are in BIG TROUBLE, evidenced by begging ~ er, groveling for dollars.
So what is true here, the Get Motivated web site says they sell no books, etc, do they mean by “we” they don’t have their own, but fail to mention the speakers books will be available?
Also, if speaking of Jesus as saviour and asking those listening to dedicate, accept or rededicate their lives to Jesus by a speaker is not sermonizing, I don’t know what is.
from the web site:
“Will Books, Tapes, CDs and DVDs Be on Sale at the Get Motivated Seminar?
No. While we believe that these kinds of resources can be valuable sources of information, we will not have any books, tapes, CDs or DVDs for sale at the event. ”
from a news article:
http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2009/10/finding_their_special_purpose.php
“Given the program’s lean to the right, the event could best be summed up as Fox News Channel meets QVC: Attendees were pitched on the concept of Winning Through Faith!, while also being sold motivational tapes and books.”
from the web site:
“Is There a Political or Religious Emphasis at the Get Motivated Business Seminar?
No. The emphasis of Get Motivated is on achieving personal and professional success. While some of our speakers may be political figures or spiritual leaders, their purpose for being at the Get Motivated Seminar is not to campaign or sermonize, but rather to educate and inspire. Get Motivated gathers the world’s greatest leaders on one platform to share their experiences, lessons, resources and tools for success. Our goal is to provide our attendees with the information, education and inspiration needed for a balanced, successful life. Our speakers come from a wide variety of political, religious and ideological backgrounds, and we allow all of our speakers the freedom of speech to mention their belief systems in their presentations if they choose to. Our role is not to dictate or censure what our speakers can or cannot say, but rather to gather expert achievers and give them a forum to share the ideas and strategies that they feel would be beneficial in helping our attendees achieve personal and professional success. We celebrate diversity and welcome a free exchange of ideas. We realize that not every topic or speaker appeals to every person in the audience, which is why we have such a great variety of speakers and topics—so that there truly is something for everyone.”
“Are the Speakers Live and In Person?
YES! All of the speakers are live, in person, and extremely motivating! (Of course emergencies do occasionally occur — even for the rich and famous! — but it is extremely rare for us to have to substitute a speaker.) All of our speakers are locked, loaded and ready to go! Prepare to be blown away as you’re motivated and inspired by the best speakers and the greatest leaders in the world!”
The speakers are “locked, loaded and ready to go.” Colin Powell and Terry Bradshaw keepin’ their powder dry…?
More on motivation: Congressman Parker Griffith’s entire staff was motivated to quit yesterday. Griffith switched parties (from Dem to Republican), apparently motivated by Mrs. Palin from Wasilla:
From Sarah Palin’s Twitter:
Congratulations Alabama! And all Americans concerned about Capitol Hill’s current agenda;Rep Parker Griffith just did the right thing. Welcome
Chief of Staff Sharon Wheeler said: “I appreciate Congressman Griffith’s being a very dedicated congressman. But we believe he made a mistake — a well-intentioned but misguided mistake that is not in the interest of the great people of North Alabama who elected him a year ago as a Democrat. As his staff, we wish him only the best, and we all remain committed to the citizens of the Tennessee Valley. But we cannot, in good conscience, continue working for him.”
Griffith’s campaign consulting team dropped him when he announced his party switch.
Gosh, thanks, Mrs. Palin!

Get Motivated! Seminar Draws Crowds, And Some Criticism
“The real superstar is Jesus Christ,” intoned Tamara Lowe, who with her husband, Peter, runs Get Motivated! Seminars Inc., the Florida company behind Wednesday’s event and similar events throughout the country.
Not everyone who attended the event, which flooded downtown Hartford with about 19,000 people, cared for the overt religious proselytizing.
“To be perfectly honest with you, it pissed me off,” said Bill White of Westfield, Mass., who helps manage a CVS store in Bloomfield. “I have my own beliefs and I don’t like it when somebody tries to shove it down my throat.”
White said he felt misled by the event’s advertisements, which emphasize business skill development, increasing profits and overcoming challenges, but make no mention at all of religion. “I almost feel like I’ve been lied to,” he said.
Event officials declined to discuss the event’s religious aspect.
Truly, I am laughing my butt off. These people are ridiculous. And of course, while the “seminar” itself doesn’t offer books, there ARE materials available from each individual speaker. No doubt $carah will have “Going Rogue” available.
Tamara is as big a liar as Palin is, and just another ex-junkie who found that religion would get her big bucks. I just wonder if Powell knows who he’s hanging out with–but nevermind, he hung out with GWB and that was enough to damage his credibility (which had already been damaged during the Vietnam War, if you look it up). People have such short memories.

“We don’t just need information for success, we also need transformation,” he tells the crowd. He then invites them to pick up Bible materials at tables around the perimeter of the hall. More than 5,000 people surged to pick up free copies of a Billy Graham booklet and Zig Ziglar’s testimony tape. Had a similar scene happened on Wall Street, it would have been called a feeding frenzy.
Lowe’s unique presentation has gained widespread attention—”Time” magazine featured him in a May profile—and deep respect from people like Bill Bright, who serves on Lowe’s advisory board.
“Peter Lowe’s ministry is without a doubt being blessed by the Lord in an unprecedented way,” says the founder and president of Campus Crusade for Christ. “His articulate and bold witness in presenting a brief gospel message during, but separate from, his motivational talks on business techniques is miraculously effective for the kingdom. Literally tens of thousands continue to receive Christ through his God-inspired ministry.”

From the comments section of Preemptive Karma blog describing the Seminar coming to Portland (and a good read):
“Bob — …Colin Powell aside, ever read Revelation? Do you know about Israel and what will occur in the last days? Bible prophecy is NEVER wrong. More of the prophecy is revealed as time goes on.
Better read it — many more Iraqis will die as will others of Muslim faith. God promises to protect those that support Israel. Unfortuanately US is working towards becoming more like Sodom and Gommorah and will face loving and patient God’s wrath unless we change. I’m glad to know where I am going when the “brown stuff hits the blower.”
This has nothing to do with Get Motivated smeinars but perhaps a chance for you to look for the right answers. There is only hope in the LORD.”
After the seminar, are they going to be selling time shares?
Is SP going to be handing out business cards for BSMP L.aughable L.aundering C.on? And cookies, also too?
This is a hoot. This organization is an gotcha kind of a organization. The $19.00 is just a come on. Once inside is where the selling goes on. People end up spend hundreds of dollars. LOL, true enough there is a sucker born everyday. By the way both parties participate in the activity. Really sad people go to really get something out of it. All they get is nothing.

We attended the Get Motivated Seminar in Anchorage, AK. The seminar was good, a little over the top as well. We did sign up to go to the seminars in Anchorage that followed. PLEASE BE VERY VERY CAUTIOUS. We signed up for the tax lien study and now they are in Bankruptcy. One member of our group returned the materials in the timeframe they gave to us at the seminar. We have been trying to get a refund of $1495 for three months only now they have told us they cannot refund the money because they are in bankruptcy. Be very very cautious about these seminars. I am not saying all of these are scams but be careful.
“Grace” and Sarah Palin are two parallel trajectories which have never and will never intersect….
A better title for her talk would be: “How To Be A Scapegrace Under Fire”
Look it up, Sarah. I think it’s what you really meant.
A Day Spent in Hell…this is a hoot: http://www.everygreenreview.com/121/a-day-spent-in-hell.html
One writer’s experience at this seminar with George W. Bush as the keynote speaker.
Sorry, that should be http://www.evergreenreview.com/121/a-day-spent-in-hell.html
Evergreen, not everygreen. : )
that should be intresting. Colin Powell HATES palin, and changed his vote to Obama when she was selected. He said she was unqualifed to lead a girl scout troop to sell cookies.
Grandma68, that is one of the best reads I’ve had in a long time…
Thanks.
CG, you’re most welcome! : )
Just read this on another of my favorite blogs,

I started reading it because I was fascinated by the name Kiss My Big Blue Butt and stayed because this Texas lady is kind of Molly Ivins-ish and I’ve become very fond of her. Enjoy.
Susan,
Yesterday I received a wonderful business opportunity. Seems for the new year the Get Motivated Seminars, Inc wants to jump start businesses in Texas, specifically Houston. What a windfall for those businesses!
Their brochure is offering a special! For a limited time only, you understand, Houston area small businesses can purchase a $225.00 ticket to the seminar for only $4.95 (yep, that’s .05 less than $5.) or send their whole office for $19.00! WOW! What a deal….until you see the
list of speakers.
Now we all have to admit it would be powerful to hear Gen. Colin Powell, Zig Ziglar, and the ever entertaining Terry Bradshaw. Heck, I’d pay $5 to see Gen. Powell discuss “Take Charge Leadership.” Mr. Zigler will of course expound on how to stay motivated (so his books keep selling) and Mr. Terry Bradshaw, god love him, will tell us ??? how to property fold a toupee into your back pocket and lose endorsements. Now those folks might be worth the $4.95 + parking at the Toyota Center BUT !!!!!!
They are gonna have to hand out cash at the door to get folks to come watch OR listen to Rick Belluzzo; “Lead and Succeed” A guy who is listed in Wikipedia: “As of 2009, Belluzo is working as a speaker on a traveling circuit that books/sells low-cost speaking events in auditoriums, civic centers, etc ” His business experience is listed in part as, “Much of his career is clouded in controversy and many consider him to be responsible for the demise of SGI.” Then there is Tamara Lowe, a woman according to her book title, with Motivational DNA. Wow, wonder if the FBI knows about this. Is it a subcategory in their DNA screening process? Bet it is in Texas! By the way, she and her hubby own the seminar company, guess she can be what ever she wants to be, huh?
The last two speakers offered up will be your personal fav’s: Rudy Giuliani on “The Tenacity to Persevere: How to make it through a crisis” (Moving your mistress into Gracie Mansion?) And last but not least…..Ms. Sarah Palin on “Achieving Your Personal & Professional Goals” Can’t even begin to comment on that…bet you can!
The website is here.
