Something’s Fishy…
5 01 2010A simple reminder to conservationists to attend the election meeting of the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game has taken a fascinating and amusing twist. You’re going to like this one.
I noted in my first announcement that the website AmmoLand.com had posted a notice from the Anchorage Second Amendment Task Force (2ATF) about this meeting, in which they reported the following:
Radical environmental groups have mobilized to insert their preferred candidate’s in order to use the board to promote their twisted agenda, including supporting the listing of cook inlet Beluga’s as endangered.
I copied and pasted this quote from their website directly into my post.
Then, after I posted and linked to AmmoLand, the copy suddenly changed. The word “radical” was removed from “Radical environmentalists,” and the word “twisted” was removed from “their twisted agenda.” This was interesting in and of itself, but then the following comment appeared on The Mudflats.
“Submitted on 2010/01/04 at 2:53pmThe alert sent out by Anchorage 2ATF reads:
“Environmental groups have mobilized to insert their preferred candidate’s in order to use the board to promote their agenda, including supporting the listing of cook inlet Beluga’s as endangered.”
No links were included.Mudflats misquotes this statement above:
“Radical environmental groups have mobilized to insert their preferred candidate’s in order to use the board to promote their twisted agenda, including supporting the listing of cook inlet Beluga’s as endangered.”
Link included.Do not expect any factual information here.
Mudflats live off the distortion of the facts.”
Even more interesting. This person was saying that I had changed the wording of the Anchorage 2ATF to sound less extreme. And, they said, not only had I deliberately misquoted them, but for some reason had linked to the site that I misquoted. Hard to believe.
Apparently our little friend didn’t realize that the email that was sent out with the “radical, twisted” wording went out not only to the 2ATF mailing list, but that I have a copy of it. Here it is:
I cropped off a little on the bottom, but you can clearly see at the end that my quote is accurate.
So, what was going on here? Someone was coming on to The Mudflats and trying to tell readers that I was lying – that I couldn’t be trusted – that I was manipulating the facts to suit my personal agenda – that nobody should believe what I write. Well, that’s not very nice…
Obviously, anyone who has gotten the 2ATF email can go into their inbox right now and see that the claim by this commenter who goes by the screen name “AK_Fish,” is categorically false. They may have changed the website, but the email cannot be taken back and remains as it was originally sent. You can’t unring the bell. Who would be foolish enough to say that the email said one thing when it had been sent to hundreds of people who could easily check it on their own computers? I was curious.
So, I decided to check out this commenter and see who it might be. I checked out the email address that the commenter was nice enough to leave. It turns out that the email address associated with “AK_Fish” is easily traced to none other than Alaska House District 22 Candidate Mark Fish. I guess the “fish4house” part of the email should have been a hint. I’m shocked, shocked I say! Imagine the idea that a Republican candidate for political office in the State of Alaska could do something like that. Don’t that beat all?
This is what we’re up against, folks. So, back to my original intent for this post. Please don’t forget to come to tonight’s meeting! We need every single one of you. And if you’re early, it’s rumored there will be brownies!
Anchorage School District Building Education Center – 5530 Northern Lights Blvd. – 6:00 TONIGHT. Please come and bring friends!

Odd that a blog with “commonsense” in the title has none.

#46 @AK_Fish
You know perfectly well that the apology is not TO you but FROM you. Don’t pretend to be more stupid than you are.
And you are a small-minded big-mouthed ignorant chickensh*t not to own your own mistakes. You got caught with your pants down boyo. Go flow with the other dead fish.

I hope no one jumps to his blog and leaves a message. The poor pitiful thing has no doubt got blogger envy since there are only a few comments left on there during the entire year. And I believe a few were comments he made to himself. (snark intended)

amy, i almost did. was going to say something like apparently you failed to notice the screen shot of the email. chose not to.
January 5th, 2010 at 5:15 PM
AKM- best wishes for all of you tonight.
I went to that site twice that first evening and read the twisted and radical foolishness… didn’t get a screenshot but certainly read it.
Folks spout goofiness like that, dumb but fine.
Folks realize they stuck their foot in their mouth and try to pretend it didn’t happen… well, just dumb.

Way to go, Lilady! Get him! (verbally, of course)
January 5th, 2010 at 5:49 PM
Poor AK_Fish. He’s living proof that you can’t fix stupid. Or, so he’ll be able to read this, “He prove’s you ca’nt fix stupid”.
January 5th, 2010 at 5:53 PM
It really doesn’t matter what he says now, when the original was already sent out via email and is on mudflats for all to see and read.
The original site Had the exact wording as used by AKM.
You definitely owe Alaskan bloggers and AKM in particular an apology.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:02 PM
Do Repubs ever apologize?
January 5th, 2010 at 6:09 PM
Hey, you can’t scare me – I’ve raised teen-agers. LOL
January 5th, 2010 at 6:56 PM
got a chuckle when he declared he was NOT a candidate for any office….and then saw this on his blog… Is Alaska different from Cal, in that you file “An Intent to run” and then file AGAIN to actually run ??? sheesh !!

Letter of Intent
A letter was filed with APOC yesterday, declaring my intent to become a candidate for Alaska state House in district 22. I would be foolish to campaign as I did two years ago and expect a different outcome.
If I am to become a candidate, I need an organization that includes capable management, a finance director and network of active volunteers.
I do not believe as some, that I live in a district that will not elect a Republican. Any Republican that receives proper support can win this district. If you believe I would serve the interest of the people of Alaska, let me know what you can do to help.
I’m in the phone book . Give me a call.
Contributions up to the legal limit accepted.

Poor fish. You were not even running with the big dogs, and looked stupid. I see why you need an “organization” to win a local election.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:35 PM
Good grief!
Why am I always surprised? Republicans really are that stupid. And they really are that mean as evidenced with the attempted smear.
I’ve learned a long time ago, if I’ve read it here its true.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:57 PM
I went to Fish’s Blog and read his BS. If I was moved to post there, I would have posted something like this.
Besides being a bad liar which Mudflats has already proven, you must be fraudulently taking campaign contributions too. Did you or did you not post this….

Blah blah blah blah (no need to copy the rest of your ramblings)
and this

So are you really running? Or did you just find an easy fraudulent way to get people to send you money?
Get a job cupcake! And maybe a lawyer while you’re at it.

Also, LiladyNY made use of the term “hoisted by one’s petard” earlier. I did the same a few weeks ago, then decided to see exactly what a petard was. I was thinking it was a nautical term such as a mast or a boom……. whooo boy was I wrong. Well it is a boom sort of….. a fart.
Here’s what I discovered by googling.
1. A small bell-shaped bomb used to breach a gate or wall.
2. A loud firecracker.
(so far so good)
“ETYMOLOGY:
French pétard, from Old French, from peter, to break wind, from pet, a breaking of wind, from Latin peditum, from neuter past participle of pedere, to break wind; see pezd- in Indo-European roots”
(whoops!)
“WORD HISTORY:
The French used pétard, “a loud discharge of intestinal gas,” for a kind of infernal engine for blasting through the gates of a city. “To be hoist by one’s own petard,” a now proverbial phrase apparently originating with Shakespeare’s Hamlet (around 1604) not long after the word entered English (around 1598), means “to blow oneself up with one’s own bomb, be undone by one’s own devices.” ”
(OMG the French built a bomb out of intestinal gas to blast through city gates? No wonder Americans now despise the French!)
“The French noun pet, “fart,” developed regularly from the Latin noun peditum, from the Indo-European root *pezd-, “fart.” ”
I’m blown away so to speak by this discovery. And I thought Shakespeare was classier than this. He now seems so…..common.
But in this case, it fits……. AK Fish was blown up by his own fart so to speak. No wonder his post smelled.

AKM, this act of deception should also be reported to the MSM and HuffPo as an example of Rethuglican dishonesty.
January 5th, 2010 at 11:02 PM
Well, I got off my derriere and stood in line for an hour or so. Listened to everybody speak, voted for the “progressive list” plus one guy from the other side to balance it out, and left. Now I’m dying to know the results! Did they announce the winners? I’d make a totally wild guess that there were maybe 400 people there, (give or take a hundred) and frankly, many of them looked like they probably hunt with automatic machine guns, but hey, this is Alaska, so maybe they were just really manly looking environmentalists. I saw several people that I know (all assuming that I was voting on the anti-environmentalist side) and I politely clapped for every candidate, even the one who started out by announcing that he’s a convicted felon. I’m hoping that there were other “undercover greenies” like me, or else our candidates are in trouble. But Please, somebody post some results. Could the meeting still be in progress at 10:48PM?
January 5th, 2010 at 11:04 PM
Well, I was rash and actually left a comment. So that you all will not have to go there to read it I will copy it here:
Strange, the email you sent out contained the words radical and twisted. Once sent, any “corrections” do not fly down the series of tubes to the original email and “correct” them. The email came from your address. You screwed up, own up.
January 5th, 2010 at 11:31 PM
Ok I agree that this Fish fella stepped on his own D***, but in akbatwomans own words, inadvertantly reveals an absolute truth: “I’m hoping that there were other “undercover greenies” like me, or else our candidates are in trouble.”
The only way greenies and lefties win is.. by deception.
But then, you all already knew that..
January 6th, 2010 at 12:55 AM
It’s not that a Republican could not win District 22, just that Mark can’t (61-39 split last time), especially after this deception.
Mark, you argue for less govt and more personal responsibility–well it’s time to walk the talk. Admit you screwed up, and publicly apologize for defamation of AKM’s character. I’m really looking forward to the next time you come campaigning at my door.
January 6th, 2010 at 7:21 AM
To Rusty @ 74 – you mean like your former governor? or do you mean by winning at the ballot box like Obama did 14 months ago?
January 7th, 2010 at 12:05 AM
Rusty, I was born here 46 years ago. I was undercover because sometimes it can be scary around certain people who like guns as much as many of the people last night do (my father was in Federal Law Enforcement for 30 years and you kind of pick up on these things). Also, there were several people that I know socially and professionally, and from the comments that some of them made, I did not want to possibly ruin my relationship with them over something as dumb as the fact that I was voting against them. I know their views and like them in spite of it, but sometimes people are so rigid that they will throw away a perfectly good friendship over nothing.
I see that the guy who bragged that he was a convicted felon got elected. That tells me that many of the people there were so passionately against the other side that they threw common sense out the window. I myself voted for a guy who was only running to keep the “Defenders of Wildlife Crazies” off the board, but I know him to be a good and honest person who would make thoughtful decisions.
Would you do the same?
January 10th, 2010 at 6:30 AM
Thank you to all the mud pups for bringing out the truth. Chronic liars everywhere especially in affluent positions where millions and millions of federal dollars for the people is being misused and abused. Stupid greedy people lie and cheat to keep their control.
