Say it Ain’t So, O’Biden!
OK, ladies and gents. Sunday Night – 60 Minutes. Former McCain campaign advisor and Sarah Palin’s favorite Going Rogue whipping boy Steve Schmidt will be interviewed. Along with him will be the two authors of the forthcoming book Game Changer, about the 2008 presidential campaign. Hundreds of Democratic and Republican insiders were interviewed for what promises to be a fascinating read.
In the McCain-Palin camp, Schmidt says that when he was told by a campaign staffer prepping Palin for her debate with Biden that the vice presidential candidate was doing very poorly in her preparation, it was a crisis moment. “He told us the debate was going to be a debacle of historic and epic proportions…she was not focused…not engaged,” he tells Cooper. “She was not really participating in the prep.”
Schmidt confronted Palin with this and, he says, “She said, ‘You know, I think that’s right.’”
Well, there’s nothing like being brutally honest about the fact that you are just not “engaged” with this whole VP debate thing. Of course, that tantalizing “debacle of historic and epic proportions” never really happened much to our dismay.
It’s one of those times when you hope that those theoretical physicists are right, and that there’s a parallel universe out there where it actually did go down that way, just so someone somewhere in some dimension could have seen it. There’s a bunch of people on the other side of some wormhole still getting a good chuckle over that one.
And then there’s this:
If that wasn’t enough for deep concern, Palin had a reflexive tendency to refer to Biden as “O’Biden,” says Schmidt, something that had to be fixed before the debate. He says others in the campaign came up with a solution. “It was multiple people – and I wasn’t one of them – who all said at the same time, ‘Just say, Can I call you Joe,’ which she did.”
Schmidt says he took over the prepping, simplified it, and says she “more than held her own” in the debate. But not without one “O’Biden” slip on national television.
It’s a good thing that I was not the one debating her, because frankly the urge to call her “McPalin” would have been overwhelming.
And “simplification” aside, when you come out and tell the moderator of the debate that you’re not going to answer the question put to you, but rather you’re going to talk about what you want to talk about… it helps. Up front acknowledgment that you’re just plain ignoring the rules of the game sort of takes away from the suspense.
CBS asked Palin if she’d like to be interviewed for the story. She declined stating that she had already addressed many of the allegations in her own book, Going Rogue.
Ah yes, the book. If you go to the bookstore to try to compare the versions of the VP debate prep from Game Changer to the one in Going Rogue, and for some reason you can’t find the latter? Don’t forget to look in the fiction section.

Yikes! You are deadly on that new computer, AKM! Rant on!! I love it when you have a hissy fit!
My, my, my. Can’t wait to read her Facebook response. Should be soon – she’s always jumping the gun.
This should be good.
I am fecking mad too. The debate was a joke. The media gave her a pass.
Until America decides that education is important….you are going to drag everyone down.
The new RAM is showing.
And here I was sad because Christmas was over, but it looks like Santa left one more gift in my stocking! BTW, the only reason Granny O’Scarah’s performance wasn’t a disaster was that we had such low expectations of her. As long as she managed to stay upright and not burp TV, she was ahead. I must say, I LOVE that we’re rehashing what a trainwreck of a candidate she was. The fun, it just never ends!
Went to Wal-Mart yesterday and a clerk was moving Granny McPalin’s book to an end cap. Out of curiosity, I asked how sales had been. She stated that only 2 out of the dozen in stock had sold, and she was moving them to a more prominent spot in the hopes they would move. I then asked her how long she’d keep them there. Her response was “not much longer and they’ll either go on the $1.00 table or back to the distribution center.” I KNOW there are many Palin fans in this area, so all one can assume is that they don’t have adequate disposable income to spend on reading material.
It would be interesting to see an accurate accounting of actual sales/profit/etc. at the end of the 12 month period from release date.
I know.
PS it must make her REALLY mad that the interview is on CBS, the network of the “perky one”! Heeeeee-heeeeee! She’s probably fuming so bad I’ll bet I can see the smoke here in Pittsburgh!
Vice President Biden’s Mother passed away early today.
A lovely woman who raised a wonderful son.
It was wonderful that she lived a long life to see what her son made of himself, rising to the office of VP, along with her help, leadership and love.
I await to see if Palin tweets or ghost FB messages to the then Senator O’Biden. Sadly, her bad mannered, uneducated followers would post cruel, unkind and unwarranted messages on FB.
Conspiracy theory – the way they saw to “solve the debacle problem” was for Palin not to participate in the debate, so Palin said she was not going to answer the questions (participate in the debate). They devalued Gwen Ifill as a moderator by creating the big hullaboo before the debate about the book she was writing (anyone ever read that book?) Gwen was up against the wall.
Mission accomplished.
“He told us the debate was going to be a debacle of historic and epic proportions…”
It was.
The mere fact that a Chatty Cathy was slipped into the VP slot, her string pulled, and sent out to debate is an embarrassing debacle of historic proportions for this country.
History will not be kind to $P, McCain, and Schmidt.
As I had posted on some other thread.. somewhere, ( or a couple of places )
the fact that she had this ” O ” obsession with the name points out how she couldn’t THINK about anything other than “O”bama… and she still can’t.
She thought SHE was running against Obama…and where her concentration was … it wasn’t McCain. Even her supporters dismiss McCain… it was Sarah vs Obama. They think like her. And they ‘ simplified ‘ it for her and she STILL let one slip. Her brain couldn’t keep up with her mouth or visa versa. She didn’t have enough RAM in her memory to keep up.
And that Quitter Speech… Whoa !! Talk about Her record player brain running on 78 instead of 33 1/3. She barely remembered to breathe as her brain was working overtime to keep up.
AND… any 5 yo kid could remember a simple name like Biden after 5 minutes of teaching…. if they are paying attention.
Biden has 2 syllables. Does that mean she will start referring to her
kids as…..O’Piper, O’Willow, and O’Bristol…? Just saying…
I wonder if Steve is doing this interview with McCain’s approval. I ponder the point because McCain has never expressed any regret about choosing Sarah as his VP running mate.
I don’t know the impetus for Steve’s interview but it will be interesting to see his level of candidness.
I can’t wait to read this book. It should be here very soon.
>honestyinGov
No, but I bet she call’s Katie ‘O’Couric’, lol.
O’ hell
I have to admit that I was excited when McCain picked Palin because she was a woman. Then I started seeing who she really was. I then lost whatever interest in McCain/Palin after that. Not that I had much to begin with.
Palin seems to me to be someone who would be happy to flush all the work down the toilet the many generations of women who fought to vote, fought to get the pill, and just fought to be heard.
Then I started thinking that maybe McCain wanted to lose. He was so far in the campaign that it would be easier to say he lost due to his VP pick. Out of all of the Republican women out there he picked her. But in the process he lost whatever Independents and Moderates he had before. Maybe he should have put some more thought into his pick.
Meede, of course she wouldn’t give a flip about Biden’s mother, she’d show about as much compassion as she did when Biden choked up about the loss of his wife and child during the debate. A joke of a debate in which AKM beautifully points out the irony that it isn’t much of one if you are not engaging in the questions.
Seagull, I agree – Ifill was a poor moderator choice because of her book topic being about Obama and let’s face it, she was an educated, black journalist. The GOP successfully subdued her and she nor Biden could challenge Sarah for fear of being percieved as elite and condescending. Though Gwen did kind of slam Palin’s shout out to her brother’s class watching and getting extra credit. . .we all deserved EC after watching Sarah’s pathetic performance (she who does not know what Achilles Heel means.)
Great point colibrimoon. I hope and believe that Steve will be very candid because he probably has a lot more “information” to be revealed that he has not let out. As for McCain’s approval, I’m betting Steve doesn’t care at this point as he knows McCain is a has-been and he wants to shake himself from the whole McCain/Palin campaign and get on with his career in 2010 and 2012.
McCain should come out and admit he wanted Lieberman for a running mate and that Palin was forced on him which was a HUGE mistake.
McCain, the media and Schmidt are all guilty of giving her a major pass on that debate. If anyone else had behaved like she did they would have been crucified in the media.
@ 6 GreatGranny2C
” I KNOW there are many Palin fans in this area, so all one can assume is that they don’t have adequate disposable income to spend on reading material.”
————————————-
Or they just don’t read. The woman couldn’t even explain what a Vice-President’s responsibilities were 4 or 5 different times. She’s a joke and her supporters are dangerous because of thier unintelligent, uneducated minds.
Oh AKM, the parallel universe where the measure of Sarah’s performance was soundly labeled as a debacle of historic and epic proportions is the one I think we all want to live in! How can it not be this way here and now? Supplemented with hindsight?
And her level of snarky immaturity is perfectly summed up in this anecdote of Sarah’s behavior, the disrespect in re-naming a Senator in her head so much so that there was no way of avoiding the slip. . .when Sarah doesn’t like something, she rebrands them – some of them take, like ‘Democrat,’ Lamestream Media, Death Panels or frivilous ethics complaints. But some wither on the vine like Tasergate.
I still can’t get the image out of my mind, at her chewing gum as an ‘Executive’ and sticking her tongue out at the very people she serves.
Gwen should have popped her ass right then and there. Irishgirl is right , sarah got a pass. That prancin’ around s^*t ain’t gonna fly again.
I disengaged my gag reflex and attempted to watch the interview with Charlie Rose and Janet Napolitano (I made it through approx. 12 out of 18 min.) What a joke! Charlie asked her about education and she completely turned it around and talked about energy! No matter what he asked her, she responded with her memorized talking points. Foreshadowing to the VP debate. (BTW, how do we “flow energy”?)
I’m hoping that the GOP, after NY 23, realize that Grandma O’Scarah will only cause divsion and confusion among the ranks. Maybe the Schmidtt interview is the first step in a concerted effort to make sure she is irrelevant by the mid-term elections.
Oh, Palin, you o’liar you!
I had the pleasure of seeing your stupid book on the very bottom shelf at Borders, and just for fun, I turned some around backwards, since that’s what you did with every story which wasn’t an outright lie to begin with.
Even more pleasureful, and I’m still giggling – while traveling back to Alaska I was enjoying a conversation in an airport pub with some handsome, active and rich young men who were off to heli board in Canada. Once they knew I was from Alaska, they wanted to discuss a lot of their amazing knowledge of the Prince William Sound oil spill and many other things. They were from the East Coast, and both were Republicans.
Well, Twit of the Universe came up of course. They guffawed and said their take was that the whole thing was a plot to make McCain lose and give Obama 8 years to do his damage to the country (I was laughing so forgot to ask who came up with this evil plot – I assume in retrospect that it was those liberal types doncha know). They said she was the most incompetent nobody imaginable, and laughable! Many more great compliments like that – NOT – but I’m catching my flight so gotta run!
IMHO – John McCain has always been about John McCain. His political stance has never had anything to do with what was good for our country, it’s all about his ego and what sounds good at the time to get what he wants. I have felt sorry for him in the past, even pitied him, he is a desperate man with many demons. I am sorry to have to say this but he disgusts me now and has for a long time.
I will be watching 60 Minutes but not holding my breath for new revelations. It seems like a game to most of the country, regardless of party )o:
Let’s not forget this memorable Rolling Stone article by Matt Taibbe on John McCain.
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/16721264/mccains_last_stand
I hope he loses his seat in the senate and has to answer for what he has done. This article is quite a read and I know it has been posted before, but it never gets old for me.
John McCain used his wife’s $ to get elected and the taxpayers to get rich. Wow!
Cindy and I have something in common – we’ve both been screwed by John McCain.
Sarah “held her own” because she refused to answer any questions that she didn’t like. She basically told Gwen Ifill that she wasn’t going to play by rules of debate…that she was going to play by her own rules insinuating that her rules were what the American people wanted. I sat with my mouth open watching her wink…I had flashbacks to my high school debate club and cringed because I knew that we would have been pulled off of the stage for that kind of behavior. I saw the debachle but others were so impressed that she seemed able to stand and speak at the same time and to tell the moderator who was really in charge…that in debate rules no longer apply…that she got away with it all because she seemed rather polished…can’t believe I just said that…and that all of that was construed as holding her own…I don’t understand. Just as with Bush…if underachievers, like Bush and Palin, don’t choke on a pretzel or tell the camera person “no worries” when turkeys were being fed into those horrible grinders behind her…we give them the benefit of the doubt…and actually load them up with praise. When I brought up the winking in the debate, a former store owner (friend?) told me that Palin wasn’t winking for my benefit. I tried explaining that there were rules to debate even though the VP debate was less formal and she just laughed telling me I had missed the point…Palin’s point. I “got it”…I just don’t have to “like it.”
Thanks, AKM, for bringing some sanity into my life. I’m in Dallas and we’re surprisingly fairly progressive but Bush moved down the street and he parades around like Palin…not a clue…actually, not accurate…they have a clue…they don’t care.
McCain SO wanted to boink sarah. Watch his eyes checking out her booty as he fidgets with his wedding ring at the coming out party. Right around the 2 minute mark. Little did he know he was looking at cottage cheese.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVSQZhQq9eY&feature=related
But, gosh darnit, it’s not her fault. Everyone who at first helps her ends up conspiring against her and making her look bad. She needs to keep away from all the snakes. That’s why she quit. That’s why she has to keep moving through those doors. She is the Chosen One. She is perfect. She is crazy.
John McCain can’t express regret because it would be like admitting he erred. My take is he just wanted a pretty face to charge up his campaign…brains didn’t count. I voted for Palin for governor; boy, am I sorry…I wish I had known about the Mudflats then..but I followed the VP posts faithfully…Thanks AKM
GA Peach a/k/a Lance the Boil aka Crust Scramble -
LMAO……….good one !!!
This spoof on the VP debate is a bit campy under an obviously shoe-string production, but I found it pretty spot-on!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRCBsFaUz_Y&feature=rec-LGOUT-exp_fresh+div-1r-1-HM
I might even buy Schmidt’s book if it tells whether or not “joe six-pack” was part of the debate prep or an invention of Palin’s. (Alternate universe dwellers were treated to “joe 12-pack”.)
HA! Reality comes back to bite EVERY TIME… Sorry sister… Even the Gulfstream II can’t whisk you away from FACTS.. Want some candy??
colibrimoon … “I wonder if Steve is doing this interview with McCain’s approval. … McCain has never expressed any regret about choosing Sarah as his VP running mate.”
And seattlefan … “McCain should come out and admit he wanted Lieberman for a running mate and that Palin was forced on him which was a HUGE mistake. … If anyone else had behaved like she did [during that debate] they would have been crucified in the media.”
McCain, aside from several of his faults, could probably never admit regret concerning his running mate. It should have been obvious to anyone with knowldge of how VP candidates are selected, that she was not his pick (i.e., just as Johnson was not Kennedy’s, Gore was not Clinton’s). Even though he has been a little more bipartisan than most of our politicians, he still would have to maintain a certain amount of loyalty to his chosen party.
After the inititial enthusiasm for Palin, which didn’t last long, it was obvious that McCain was frustrated, and that many voters let their common sense & intelligence over-rule Palin’s cutesy, gutsy appeal.
I’d personally almost like to see Palin run for president … Have a feeling that she wouldn’t get as many ‘free passes’ as she did during McCain’s campaign, and wouldn’t be able to make much headway with her whining about being treated unfairly by the media, etc. What she still doesn’t understand, apparently, is that the majority of intellligent Americans don’t want a crybaby for president. Anyway, I’m keeping a very extensive file on her, to use just in case she does run … and thanks to Mudflats for providing some of it.
#20 VillageReader, I’m with you. Those bozos don’t read.
AKM, I love you and your writing.
O’O
A ro’gue tantrum watch has been issued for the coastal regions of Lake Lucille. Be on the lookout for flying naughty monkeys. o’wink!
Condolences to the Biden family. Joe has made his momma proud, over and over again.
Austintx…you make me laugh
>Don’t forget to look in the fiction section.
Well, darn. No wonder I didn’t find it. I thought it was in the fantasy section.
Indeed, my prayers are with the Biden family as they honour a life well-lived…
As an aside, I love how Schmidt nails the behind-the-scenes bimbo on the Troopergate fallacy she was trying to sell; not to mention Tawd’s AIP affiliation that she rushed to hush.
Game on ~ and pass the ‘corn!
O’lol!
I am very interested in watching the upcoming 60 Minutes episode. I hope Republicans are going to watch, otherwise his revelations will just be singing to the choir about how incompetent Palin is. It can be so disheartening to hear all the propaganda out there, so I’ll be listening with a critical ear for factual information. Steve Schmidt does seem like a reasonable straight-talker and not a name-calling opinionated talking head. I hope he is careful and accurate with the truth so that he can be listened to and his information carefully considered.
I have an idea for punishing those who put the ex-Gov. on the ticket: an eternity in purgatory listening to her reading the audio book version of “Going Rogue” on a continuous loop.
Lol, loving how in the end those who screamed sexism the most prepped Palin to wink to distract from her lack of knowing anything. Even the name of her opponent. Get ready for the How Dumb Is She jokes…Good Lord Palin could not even remember a name let alone debate.
@ # 45 weary voter
Talking about “continuous loops:”
I suspect that SP was so hopped up on caffeine and stress levels of epinephrine/norepinephrine during the campaign that her neuronal circuitry was operating in a frantic closed loop…….not unlike a hamster on a wheel. Just furiously round and round…..Obama Obiden Obama Obiden.
On second thought…..her brain doesn’t need caffeine and stress to operate in a frantic closed loop. It’s just the way she’s “wired,” eh?
From early on I’ve admitted to “an unhealthy obsessions with Sarah Palin.” I got it from hanging out on Mudflats in late August, 2008. Since then, all facts have served to reinforce my first impressions. This new information reinforces and validates what our friends from Alaska have shared; what we saw on the trail; what we heard in interviews, most importantly what she demonstrated in her public appearances: toxic, shorthand, apeals to low information voters, winkin’, blinkin’ and nod, ghost writers, aggresive lawyers and Meg.
Note to Sarah: you’re about to have your clock cleaned on “60 Minutes” on Sunday.
Take a deep breath and step back.
You don’t win this fight; and from the looks of it, you have almost no friends to fight it with.
Bow out garcefully. But,of course we know, you wont
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_real_john_mccain
The Real John McCain. I wonder how he is twisting history to fit Palin into his memoirs. He will forever be linked with her and I truly think it will be his final undoing.
Babygate: “Who’s YO’Mama?”
Lee323 -
O’a laffing !! Thanks for the diagnOsis.
Just watched Rachel and more excerpts of Schmidt’s interview finally letting the world know that Palin wasn’t cleared of ethics violations and that Mr. Palin was a member of the AIP.
Only wish Tina Fey would write a Book as I’m sure her book sales & signings would surpass Palins by the millions.
Yo..If being a third-dimensional creator with no substance or mass wasn’t enough to force this loon back into her hole, it was announced today that she would NOT be speaking at the ultra-conservative CPAC convention (partially funded by the John Birch Society) this year because they won’t pay her fee (har..har..har) BUT instead she WILL speak at the ultra-ultra-conservative Teabagging convention in Nashville..They WILL pay her fees…
It’s amazing to me everyday WHY the ‘mainstream’ media doesn’t/can’t/won’t/are too afraid to call this loon out?? Astonishing….
Right after Palin’s book came out, McCain reportedly told his old campaign operatives not to go on camera to rebut her version of the campaign.
Now that Grifter O’Palin’s book tour is over, it sounds like the “no camera” sanctions have been lifted since Schmidt is going on 60 Minutes.
If so……it seems McCain was interested in Palin maximizing the success of her book tour. Did he feel guilty about thrusting an ill-equipped and uncouth fraud for VP into the harsh, sometimes brutal limelight? Does he now feel his debt is paid to her?
How can he ever repay the debt to our country for the damage his divisive, vindictive running mate has caused so far?
Andrew Sullivan has her O’Biden gaffe from the debate posted. It’s on YouTube.
I hope they shred her, but I’m not keeping my hopes up. I’ll bet the worst of it is in the teaser and that Schmidt ends up backing off and qualifying his comments to go easy on her just to protect himself should he ever have to work a GOP election again.
O’Palin has responded via O’tounge. He he he he.
O’Palin will now brew up a diversion via FB or twitter. Her best bet is to do something grandious and “prop like” with her O’children or O’grandkid.
Keep in mind, her performance in the debate wasn’t discuss in her memior, but Frank was. She hates him. She will create a diversion.
Ya know, my retirement account investments involve popcorn. Not to be harsh or anything, but gosh my eyebrows did raise up a bit once I confirmed that interesting little tidbit in my retirement account. O’Palin is gonna do me good.
Hugs and blessings to the Biden family.
I doubt O’Scarah will send sympathies.
I was just reading that V.P. Biden’s mother passed away. She sounds like such an amazing woman. Blessings and prayers for the Biden family.
(One would hope that McPalin can behave herself and express her condolences without being snarky to the Joe Biden. But I’m not holding my breath.)
best part about this whole thing is that Troopergate is revisited.
beat part about this whole thing is that Troopergate is revisited.
(tried to post this as O’Ripley, but it won’t let me) Wah.
of course I meant BEST
Been lurking since the election due to family issues but happy to see many old mudflatters still here and many new (to me) family members.
Hilarious comment from the American Spectator article:
Memo to Palin – Get Over Yourself.
See Karen J’s comment at 4:43 here:
http://spectator.org/blog/2010/01/08/memo-to-palin-get-over-yoursel
and James reply at 5:20 says:
******************KarenJ is a liberal nutjob from mudflats blog.
The “conversation” becomes very heated indeed. What you’d expect.
I might get a tee-shirt made that says Liberal from Mudflats.
I guess you’ve arrived when American Spectator knows Mudflats.
Great story! We’re replenishing our popcorn supply.
With all the coverage of Gwen Ifill’s book prior to the debate and the fear that anyone who attacked Palin would come across as mean and petty, both Biden and Ifill undoubtedly felt tremendous pressure to give her some slack. The expectations of her performance were lowered to the point where they had to dig a hole in the floor of the stage to get the ‘bar’ low enough As long as she kept breathing and didn’t pick her nose on camera, the debate would have been considered a rousing success for her (my kindergarteners wouldn’t have even had a problem with the nose thing!).
Once again, I am reminded of the tremendous loss we all suffered when Tim Russert was taken way too soon. I would have LOVED to see him moderate the debate or interview her during the campaign. I can’t imagine him letting her get away with the cr@p she’s gotten free passes for since her petty, mean girl, nyah-nyah speech at the convention.
@dragon lady: that’s my spouse’s blog that took down Sarah’s PAC.
Of course it is never her fault. The Palinbots are aghast once again at the “mean media” who try to make her look foolish. Naturally, she is quite capable of doing this on her own but they cling to the theory that the media is “afraid” of her and the “power” she commands so anything negative is treated by the “fans” as idle gossip constructed to make her look bad.
I want to be a Palinbot! Imagine never having to think? Must be restful to go through the day with absolutely nothing in your head to interfere with reason. In their world Sarah could dangle Trig by his ankles from a balcony and they would cheer.
h/t to Michael Jackson
Before I made a comment I just had to check and see if Andrew Halcro had posted a story about what Schmidt is saying now. He hasn’t.
He must have a little smile on his though
He had made that statement from S’error back when she was running for Gov. where she replied to a question about the fact that he knew all of these facts and all of that was really nice and all.. BUT did it really make a difference..?
(Obviously NOT to Her )
So… Andrew saw the REAL Sarah back then, but this is just a 2nd confirmation that what he had said back then was true… as far as her studying.
There seems to be 2nd confirmation coming out to a LOT of the things she has done and said. Levi’s stories and others.
Despite all her claims… they can’t all be ‘ makin stuff up ‘.
Have a good weekend Mr. Halcro… and don’t miss 60 Minutes.
Dragon Lady Says: January 8th, 2010 at 7:46 PM and James reply at 5:20 says: “KarenJ is a liberal nutjob from mudflats blog.”
That was me…
I answered truthfully. I’m NOT a liberal. As for “nutjob”, well, if someone is going to use names like that –and a lot worse — on others, they don’t seem to realize it hurts them more than the person they’re insulting. How can you respect someone who insults people the way these people do?
OTOH, they were mortally insulted because I called the Tea Party people “teabaggers”, and Palin fans ” ‘Bots”. I guess they never heard of, “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”
I had a lot of fun over there this afternoon. It’s unusual to be able to verbally tussle with neocon wingnuts and not have the conservative blog owner go all jihadist on you. A lot of the neocons seemed to think they could be bossy and tell us (half a dozen or so) to get lost. Of course, we didn’t…
Well… it is Not Joe saying ” Say it ain’t So “… but the Conservative are saying it about GrandMa Palin. They are telling her ” Get over yourself !”
They bring up her lawsuits… her Medicaid Scandal.. and LOTs more.
This is like a 12 Round Heavyweight fight.
She’s down… and the referee is starting to count… 1…2… 3…4…5……
————————
(The emails earlier this week didn’t help either )
“But trouble started a brewin’ earlier this week, when internal Palin emails were allegedly inadvertently forwarded and teabaggers discovered the Grifting Grandma Palin was charging them between 50-100k to talk to them, on the very day when they will Queen her Queen of Teabaggers next month! Yeah, she wants to charge the “grassroots” patriots money to hear her speak. Cuz it’s all about the cause…
Er, progressin’ Alaska….Er, ‘Merkica….
Well, darn, it’s about somethin’!
http://www.politicususa.com/en/node/7422
OK. Here’s my take: Schmidt is only “revealing” what most of us already have known in bits and pieces. Don’t forget, this man is a protege of Karl Rove and a dedicated, serious and competent Republican strategist. He’s looking out for this year’s elections and attempting to get back some of the fringe elements to the Republican fold–after all, Republicans don’t even have a 20% approval rating these days. The Republicans eat their own and Palin is just the latest, and this after she’s become a laughing stock. They don’t admit their mistakes, just try to cover them with distractions, like this 60 Minutes interview.
Secondly, Palin’s 15 mins are about over and the gravy train is stopping. The only people willing to pay her a large sum to “speak” are the teabaggers, which is where she actually belongs. No self-respecting Republican org is going to give her money, they need it for the coming elections, and the economy is so bad even that small percentage is going to hurt their fundraising (even the usual corporate funds may not be what they expect). So–Palin needs to protect whatever assets she has in the event she needs more legal representation, etc. Thus we have BSMP, LLC where assets can be dumped as the end nears. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “compound” on Lake Lucille is signed over to Bristol as well and there isn’t a Swiss bank account already. Palin will always protect the money even if she doesn’t protect her own kids.
After all, those few millions she earned will not last all that long, considering how expensive it is to shelter, feed and clothe 8 people, none of which have any real qualifications for work that brings in the big bucks, even hobbies like snow machining, and snow machining disguised as a business is not looked on favorably by the IRS (you can bet they’re watching the Palins like hawks these days).
Granma68@70, yes, yes and yes.
I expect to watch and enjoy 60 Minutes tomorrow night (literally with popcorn ,,,, and an adult beverage ’cause I’m a adult!) but don’t expect to hear anything really new. However, amazingly enough, there are many people who haven’t heard this, and the 60 Minutes program will probably reach quite a few of them.
It does seem as though there’s been a “Palin Shift” in the Repub party (about time, I say). She’s gone from The Darling to The Tolerated (God Bless Her) and now it’s, as you say, going to be a scrappy fight for every dollar donated. Very little of every dollar given to Sarah goes to Republican candidates or causes – that was proven to be true with SarahPAC’s initial FEC disclosure through June of this year, and I doubt it will be different for the last half of this year.
So, yes, I predict the money in the machine will not be being replenished at the rates she saw earlier. And the speaking requests are going to drop off too. That’s the only reason I think she agreed to go to the Southern Repub Leadership conference – she needs to be seen doing something that makes her look still serious. Depending on what else she does this year, I do not expect her to be issued speaking invitation to that or CPAC next year.
So yes, Bristol better have a real plan about what she’s going to do with BSMP LLC when her biggest client is out of bucks, because if Sarah keeps flying around all creation (from Alaska, very expensive) it is not going to last terribly long. Every time she donates $5000 to Perry’s campaign and $5000 to whatever else flavor-of-the-month group or cause, that’s less that can be paid to Bristol or anyone else. But that’s what the PAC said it was set up for, and that is where the bulk of the money should go. Otherwise, there’s a word for asking people for money and telling them it’s going go for one thing and then doing something else with it …. oh yea, it’s called fraud. (Silly me, I didn’t think engaging in fraud was a Christian value. Someone needs to Walk the Talk a little more in this area …)
I predict that 2010 will be the last year Sarah will be considered any sort of ‘political figure’ any more, and news about her will dwindle, except of a purely celebrity nature. But we’ll still get a good laugh about her here.
Oh, and shhhhhhhhh! Don’t tell the C4Pers or the TeamSarah people but, Sarah Palin will not be running for President in 2012. Nosirree. She’d have to be interviewed, and let the media into speeches and submit her 2008, 2009 and 2010 tax returns, her new medical evaluation. She won’t have nearly enough money and she knows she can’t win.
Actually, do tell them, ’cause it get ‘em all riled up which is fun.
I think you have hit on something. “McPalin”
def:
Like MacNuggets, et al., McPalin is a product or politician made of artificial ingredients with low nutritional value that has to be constantly hyped and repackaged to make it or them even remotely appealing.
A high profile, but quick and easy substitute for a real meal or political stance – no thinking or preparation required.
Cheap and easy. Drive through political posturing.
Someone or thing with a flashy but cheesy facade
An individual or product produced solely for profit.
A poor imitation of a real product or politician. A product or person of no real value or substance.
Usage: Sarah McPalined again in her speech last night, reintroducing the usage of an Obama Death Panel.
O’Boy, to say that O’Dummo held held her own during the debate is a stretch.
She didn’t answer questions, and she winked her way through the debate.
The bar was set so low that just showing up gave her points for “holding her own”. Really? is that the best we expect from our leaders? I’m sure, in a way, he is still trying to protect himself with that statement since he took over Palin’s debate prep.
But, the part where she wasn’t engaged, not focused,etc……….priceless.
I have to wonder how her fans over at “Conservatives for Palin” feel about their gal blowing off the CPAC convention to headline at the Teabaggers convention.
That’s gotta sting.
They bent over backwards for O’Paylin.
Dressed her properly, got her hair dressed and makeup.
Prepped her, though she balked, or couldn’t absorb data.
Tried to get her a nutritionist to eat probably to get those synapses firing.
About the only thing she did right was look great in what they provided. Eye Candy for the men who liked her wink. Ugh.
Imagine a president who winks at the electorate. The faked folksiness of G.W.Bush and O’Paylin. They are one of us? dumber than a door stop.
Someone at the Sea of Pee didn’t know what a John Bircher was, said she was too lazy to look it up, please explain. Says a bit about the intellectual curiosity of the average O’Paylinite bot.
There’s still a huge PILE of McPalin books at our Costco. They sit steaming right on the aisle, right on the very edge of the sales shelf. I guess the smell drives away the curious! Perhaps we do have some sanity in our neighborhood.
DF – Why would any one pay for it when you can get it free online?
Osara ben payme, your time is running out as the leader of the Talibots. With your bumpit, you might be able to replace the gal on the Progressive commercials as your next gig.
laprofesora@23 – I too watched the 2007 Charlie Rose interview that included Janet Napolitano. My impression was that Charlie figured out Grandma Grifter didn’t have a clue – he must have chatted with her in the green room before the interview – he spent much more time talking to Janet, who could give concrete examples to his questions and not just talking points. The camera looked over at Sarah at one point who had not spoken yet, and she had an uncomfortable smile. I think she knew he was ignoring her too. Once he did start asking her questions and she only answered with energy-focused talking points, he finally called her out “Do you even know the Bush Administration’s energy policy”. She just said “Yeah, of course” and nothing else. Charlie gave her a serious pass by not following up, but he proved his point. I guess once she learned those energy talking points, she figured she’d done all the learning she ever needed to do. Just keep saying them over and over without any substance.

Schmidt is only “revealing” what most of us already have known in bits and pieces.

True enough. However, the ‘bots have steadfastly ignored all revelations to this point, claiming that they were merely lies by people who were jealous of their perfect angel. Now we finally have the SAME claims being made by a respected, high-ranking member of the McCain campaign and Republican party.
I guarantee they will find some excuse to dismiss this interview at the Pee Sea, but it just might open the eyes of some of the more reasonable dupes who have just been bamboozled by the sham of O’Palin (doesn’t that sound like a place you’d visit in Ireland?!?!).
am still working my way through my morning tea, so that’s my excuse for being dopey enough to wonder, “O’biden? What’s with the O?”
until Lee’s post caused the penny to finally drop:
“her neuronal circuitry was operating in a frantic closed loop…….not unlike a hamster on a wheel. Just furiously round and round…..Obama Obiden Obama Obiden.”
Oh. I mean, O. Of course. O’Sarah has alway thought she was actually running against Obama for President.
I knew I’d heard her say “O’Biden” at least once during the debate, but at the time I thought it was an attempt at humor along with the winking. I gave her way too much credit! Nope, just not too bright that “O’Palin.” How hard a name is “Biden” to remember anyway? I mean really??

That was Sarah flexing her intellectual muscles. Obama and Biden combined.
Oops can’t even type my own pseudonym.
Does anyone else get the feeling that the GOP have had enough and have declared Palin to be fair game for the media? (S.S.’s 60 Minutes)
Oh PLEASE…. (eye roll to heaven, hands clasped fiercely)
KaJo Good work I saw you did a good job but boy are those people nasty .That nobama is a real nasty piece of work i have read there post on other places and it’s always the same talking points and instead of giving links they name call.Well this troll called herself out by asking people to google and fact check things and use the brains God gave them.
Seems palins rabid followers are giving her a pass because of the John Birth society. i had to look it up myself GOOGLEED it to make sure it was what I thought it was.It takes a few seconds to fact check something or Google something For Gods sake are those palin fans afraid to find out how wrong they have been????
My popcorn is at the ready for tonight’s crucifixion. 60 Minutes had better not “softball” this story.
Finally, something I can agree with Dick Cheney on…..his comment that Palin was a “reckless choice” for McCain’s VP pick.
