Open Thread – Mail Bag!
A while back, I promised a New Year’s mail bag. Sadly, I deleted a couple really good ones by accident, but I’m sure there will be more coming to take their places. But for now, enjoy!
And do you know your auto menchainc Is also very under paid! Only thing Mark Begich is over paid and Not DOING HIS JOB! And Sully Sullenberg DID DO HIS JOB! I was told you libs can hold a talk! LETS Talk!
We can only hold a talk if it’s in ENGLISH.
Another liberal afraid of Sarah, so they’re attacking her again. Sarah is going to save America from the Marxist usurper Barry Soetoro, and I predict she’ll win the 2012 election against Obama in a 50 state sweep.
This is why I love the quotes in that 60 Minutes interview from high level McCain staffers calling the prospect of Palin as V.P. “terrifying.” A 50 state sweep? Only if you start with the state of delusion.
“You can order your own copy of Going Rouge – An American Nightmare HERE, and it is now also available in bookstores!”
Sorry, I would rather drag my face through a bag of nails.
If you must.
The liberal media elites and ultra left represents the minority of our population and I am wondering why they have the loudest mouths. They do not represent the true facts: they just voice out false accusations in order to justify something which is not worth for the best interest of this society. Even I wore blue, they insist that it is not blue but rather green. Look at the state of Maine, majority voted against same sex marriages, and yet, these lunatic lefts still insist on their evil principles. How I wish that the Almighty God will eventually act and he himself will alone rule this world that he created so that these ultra extremists and corrupted political leaders will soon have their lessons.
I…. just….. Wow.
You can call all you want you liberals are only 20% of the country. Obama represents himself as a moderate that’s how he beat Clinton. But he is not a moderate and Clinton should be president now because he lied to us. The progressives stoled our party with lies and we want it back.
Blah Blah Blah you are all a bunch of looney tunes. this site as a strong smell of SULPHER!!!
Is that you, Hugo??
Why do you patagucchis come to Alaska ?We dont want you r liberal laws ,your anti american politics or your 5 dollar lattes move back to Walden Pond where you can flagellate each other with tales of the wilds its also closer to NYC .Youll be able to wear your overpriced performance gear in the city and show what a wilderness lover that you are ! lol get a life mud flap man better yet move back to the East coat …
THAT one is a thing of beauty.
Happy Monday, Mudflatters! And may you be blissfully free from angry, ranting Palin-bots for the rest of the day!

Lol – wish I could be free of palin-bots, but they live next door. They ran to my house when they heard that “Barry” was shutting down the innertubes and asked my internet-savvy son how to save their access. (Not a joke – really happened.) And cry on my shoulder because they have no insurance – but don’t want the gubbermint kind, despite one with skin cancer and the other with rotting teeth. (Again, is true.) I tell them to cheer up – teh Endz Timez iz comin’. And they have just put a new bumper sticker on their truck: “How’s that change working for you?” Yes, it hurts.
Hahaha! Good Morning Mudflappers (o:
lol, Lani.
Irish, sadly, this is true.
Good morning from the East Coast. Here’s one of the headlines from this morning’s NY Daily News:
Book ‘Game Change’ portrays Sarah Palin as unstable ignoramus who believed Saddam was behind 9/11
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2010/01/11/2010-01-11_new_book_game_change_sarah_palin_believed_.html#ixzz0cIorABIs
Here’s one quote:
The morning of her ill-fated CBS interview with Katie Couric, Palin – “her eyes glassy and dead” – was unresponsive to attempts to prep her as she was being made up.
“As they were about to set off to meet Couric, Palin announced ‘I hate this makeup’ – smearing it off her face, messing up her hair, complaining she looked fat,” the book relates.
And here’s another quote: “When her aides tried to quiz her she would routinely shut down – chin on her chest, arms folded, eyes cast to the floor, speechless and motionless, lost in what those around her described as a kind of catatonic stupor,” the book says.
I have to say, as much as I was worried about the horror that $P is, I work with people who confront the reality of mental illness everyday. It is a misnomer. It is a physical illness. Although I cannot accept that woman having a position of power in any way, I never want to demean the people who struggle with “mental” illness in any way.
Pataguccis? What are pataguccis? You know, my real name is Pat. Does this mean someone will give me some guccis? Please note that I wear a size 6.5.
Cronopio – no fair! If you get pataguccis, I get judyguccis!
(Yes, what is a patagucci?)
Good morning from the East ‘coat’ – I’m actually only about a 1/2 hr drive from Walden Pond. I always enjoy starting my day reading here. The palinbot comments scream out for education reform. Seems these days if you can spell and complete a sentence in English you risk being labeled elite.
I find it quite sad that the commenters who are most negative have a serious problem with spelling and syntax. Is that because edumacation is a librul activity that must not be allowed to cloud impressionable minds?
Ha ha! Somewhere I read that besides Carharts, SP’s other favorite clothing line is Patagonia (aka Patagucchi).
My favorite was”…true facts…” As opposed to what, false facts? Oh yeah, we’re talking about a Palin-bot. Never mind.
Have a nice day, Mud-flap Man.
“When her aides tried to quiz her she would routinely shut down – chin on her chest, arms folded, eyes cast to the floor, speechless and motionless, lost in what those around her described as a kind of catatonic stupor,”
Ooo! I know! I know what she was doing! Can you guess?
She was praying! Yeah, that’s the ticket!
$arah wants $5 lattes, ‘cept she dont want to pay for ‘em….
Urban dictionary says:
PATAGUCCI: The finest, chicest (?) brand of outdoor gear available. It’s prices reflect the chic nature, urban-outdoor friendliness and fabulous color schemes that Yvon Chouinard’s Patagonia company produces.
To be honest, I’m beginning to have doubts about this new book ‘Game Change’. The two “authors” have talked to ?200? people, under the cover of anonymity, and they’ve sure pulled every morsel of dirt they can possibly find on each and everyone of the candidates. Most likely in order to SELL more books.
After the horrors of participating in losing campaigns, what person (associated with the losing campaign) wouldn’t want to give ugly details (made up or not) – in order to distance themselves or excuse their participation.
Even the National Enquirer hasn’t sunk/stunk to this level. Prurient interest sells books. I won’t buy this book, it just seems like a ‘nasty-fest’ to me.
Some PARTS of the stuff might be true, enough to make the whole package credible. But, I’m having a problem swallowing this nastiness hook, line & sinker, when all the titillating bits so far simply seem like Yellow Journalism.
That other book, with the embedded journalists “Sarah from Alaska” reporters Scott Conroy and Shushannah Walshe, that were there IN PERSON, may have offered some scintillating details. But at least they were THERE to witness much of what they wrote about and the on-the-ground reactions. JMO.
Yes, I laughed, but I’ve got to say it scares the he!! out of me that we have so many ignorant, illogical people walking around. Long ago and far away, when I graduated from high school, we had to (OMG) learn Latin, Civics, American History AND we had to spell correctly.
If it wasn’t so snowy this morning I’d go out and hug a tree. It’s getting more and more pathetic for and about SP as details, facts, rumors, and etc. etc. come to light. Whew!
Wow. Nice mail that you have there.
And such evidence that “out children is learning” just like George W. Bush said they were.
GM all! Palin has posted nothing on her FB acct since Jan 5, but there are lots of similar comments to stick in the mailbag. : ) I’m convinced most of them don’t have an IQ over room temperature when they’re willing to devote so much time, money and energy to someone who’s essentially a pole dancer who keeps her clothes on.

These emails are just a small glimpse into the mind-numbing ignorance that some people wear like a mantle. I pity their hatred and confusion and increasing smallness. They are cult-like in their delusion.
As far as Granny Palin is concerned, um, Sarah? God called. She said to tell you the door is CLOSED. Get the message and move on.
I find that I am also wondering about the veracity of the book. “They say” or “we were told” and no names are a bit concerning. 60 minutes, though, by bringing in Schmidt, covered any concerns of them passing on “gossip” about her. Considering how she jumps the gun towards litigation, a smart move on their part.
The mail is certainly exciting. I was telling my mother that I find it very strange that people just don’t use their spell check and grammar check. But then I’m 55, and had an English education rammed home by a wonderful woman, Grace Spindle. If a paper wasn’t right, I just kept getting it back to correct until it was.
#17 @ Kath the Scrappy
This book is no less a “nasty-fest” than Going Rogue. In fact, it’s probably more honest in that the persons interviewed were in the midst of the events as they were unfolding. After all, the reporters did not interview strangers on the street.
These emails and the following post from Andrew Sullivan is why Palin remains a very scary person in politics today:
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/01/palin-and-the-kids.html#more
I appreciate that Schmidt is trying to correct the terrible wrong that he did by unleashing this fraud on the American public but he and the others responsible need to do so much more. They can’t turn back the clock but they need to do something to put this evil genie back in her bottle.
Kath the Scrappy @17 – I had pretty much come to the same decision as you regarding the purchase of this book. If one can’t give their name and stand behind their “disclosures”, then maybe the info shouldn’t be firmly and unconditionally taken as truth/fact. The same goes for those news items where the person “isn’t authorized to speak”, etc.
Lord knows, there is enough gossip and half-truths to be found reading most websites, so why waste good money to read what is likely nothing more than an expensive version of the National Enquirer? Additionally, I have disliked Mark Halperin from the get-go. He had some difficulties with one of the networks and his show was cancelled if I remember correctly, then he became a regular on MSNBC with Joe and Mika. He is cynical and arrogant with his comments towards Obama (or any other Dems for that matter). It is amazing the money some authors can rake in by simply gathering other’s thoughts (no fact-checking in most cases) and pass them along as gospel, simply because they have name recognition and pander to the prurient streak in most humans.
GA Peach @18 – Agree with you also, it does scare the daylights out of us with the venom spewing from so many of SP’s followers. We aren’t talking about people who have drastically opposing viewpoints. My B-I-L and are as diametrically opposite politically as anyone can be, so we long ago agreed to disagree and we simply don’t discuss topics that would create family friction. But I’m not afraid of him. I know he isn’t going to go *postal* should we have a discussion that he doesn’t like.
Although the Palin rallies were vocal and rowdy, there was no major violence, just a few small incidents. I think it was only due to there not being *libruls* foolish enough to show up and deliberately agitate her fan base.
I am more saddened at the message to AKM than anything else. I don’t think anyone would disagree that there are people who are underpaid, and there are those definitely overpaid. What was the point of that statement in relation to the rest of his/her message?
The writer wants to talk, but as we know, one can’t talk with another who wants to shout and be ugly. The lack of a decent education is so obvious, and is indicative of many on the right. Do these people not realize (and feel slightly ashamed) at how badly they spell, or how disjointed their sentences are? Probably not – they sound just like Sarah Palin, and we know she doesn’t put an emphasis on education so why would they think it important.
Yes, we want to chuckle at some of it, but when we laugh in return and demean them, it reinforces their opinions that we think we are better (snobbish elitists). Overall, the posters on this site DO appear to be better educated and more well-read. So much was made of Obama’s reference to Judge Sotomayor’s *empathy*. I’d like to think that we Mudflatters also have empathy toward’s the Palinbots. From Webster’s Dictionary:
Empathy: the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner
Palinbots are threatened by anyone smarter than them, they don’t understand empathy, and they only know to fight what is unfamiliar to them. Criminy, I could go on and on talking about the Palinbots and this message! Sorry for the diatribe! Hang in there AKM – someday, a few will realize there is a difference between what they perceive (that we hate and fear Sarah) versus the reality (that we feel empathy for all of them because we SEE her for what she is and does).
Matt Taiibi has a name for her followers – he calls them “Palinsanities”.
This morning, CNN barely touched on the 60 Minutes segment about Sarah Palin, and said NOTHING about her mental illness. Instead they have been harping ad nauseam about the Harry Reid scandal and how the Rethugs want him gone. I was afraid of this. Very good to see that Palin is getting hammered in other news sources.
Well Mud Flap Man, I guess they told you, huh? *sarcasm here*
Seriously, that Andrew Sullivan post linked above was one of the scariest things I have read yet.
How I wish that the Almighty God will eventually act and he himself will alone rule this world that he created so that these ultra extremists and corrupted political leaders will soon have their lessons.
———
He tried. But Limbaugh had so much stuff in his veins that He couldn’t quite get the plug fully pulled.
He did, however, call Oral Roberts home.
Wait… Walden Pond is near NYC? Hell, it’s nearly a 5-hour drive from NYC.
But it is located across Rt 117 from the Concord town dump.
I too have to take anything said without attribution to a direct source with a grain of salt.
With Sarah, though, there is soooo much smoke we know there is a fire. Even before the gubernatorial election she was a psycho. Wonder why she stopped showing up for “open forums” at prominent businesses? She didn’t like being confronted with people who knew more than her limited sound byte/feel good brain. “Hostile environment” and that’s in quotes for a reason.
Padow! Nothing like the sweet smell of TRUTH in the morning…
Gooday all.
The fact that the book has a large number of anonymous quotes and ‘they said’s’ might be troubling for some. It might be a valid concern if the writers were unknown. Mark Halperin(Time) and John Heilemann(New York) are two well respected journalists that work for well respected magazines. To my knowledge they have not ever been questioned for their integrity regarding their reporting. I also believe that the fact that they come from such respected magazines that they most certainly know and have actual ongoing work relationships with enough of the campaign staff and the reporters covering not only the last election cycle but other elections as well to know who knows the truth and who doesn’t. Halperin and Heilemann not only have access to news pool, they most certainly have ongoing access to the most senior aides of the campaign. They have earned the benefit of the doubt, something SP has yet to earn.
Andrew Sullivan has another great piece.
“Think about that for a minute. A campaign for president had as its vice-presidential nominee someone many of the campaign strategists believed was “mentally unstable.” The idea that in office they could have relegated Palin to a vice-president as beauty queen was also revealed to be surreal given Palin’s propensity for going rogue and the fact that she wielded much more clout within the GOP than McCain did. Not only was she vastly unqualified to be president, as vice-president she would have rendered McCain the Potemkin president.
This was indeed surreal. It should never have happened. That such a figure came near the presidency of the United States is so alarming an insight into the self-serving cynicism of the political elite that one understands where the rabid populism now comes from.”
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/01/mentally-unstable.html#more
I also would bet the farm that the producers of 60 minutes did some real actual fact checking before airing the story. They are not an organization that might be willing to throw their hard earned reputation to the wind. They have a stellar reputation in terms of accuracy and objective reporting.
Irishgirl…I just read the excellent Sullivan post. He really drives the point home about the heinous move that McCain made in trying to put Palin so close to the WH. Sadly, it’s not over yet…not until Palin’s star-struck supports recognize reality.
lol AKM, funny emails, and probably would be funnier if I could understand them.
The Palinites go on insisting that “Going Rogue” contains all the truths we need to know while decrying “Game Changer” as a pack of lies. Go figure.
Delusions wrapped in myopia and sealed with stupidity.
Once we all get grown up, I think we forget the gradeschool lesson that there are, in fact, talentless and dumb people at the bottom of the class, and that even on a good day, half the population is comparatively uninformed and less quick on the uptake than the other half.
Well, being grown up doesn’t mean you still aren’t a fool, or that you somehow have other skills and talents that make up for it. Nope. You can only vote. Only once per election, hopefully.
Being a fool doesn’t mean you can’t have a kind and loving heart, of course. But bell curves being the thing they are, the odds are also good that one falls on the lower half of the meanspirited/loving scale as well.
So to all those out there in the meanspirited dolt quadrant, who write such emails as quoted above, you go right ahead and ignore that adage about a fool and his money…
Anyone listening to that rambling “resignation to nowhere speech” could deduce that either she was woefully stupid or seriously disturbed to do what she did. She may be “all about the money” but there are other factors at work there as well. The speech clearly was indicative of someone who has issues as she found it difficult to clarify her statements with any measure of coherence.
Yes, she would have made a “brilliant” vice president. But again, this all goes back to McCain, his staff, and the craven purpose of choosing her without having a whit of knowledge as to what they were dealing with. They created this monster and now we are stuck with her.
Her defenders, another group of Know Nothing idiots, will stick with her as long as she peppers her comments with “God”.

You go Mo! Well spoken. (and articulate, too. Also.)
That was a blog of ugly.
You should start a weekly roundup of hate mail like KO’s does. It’s very entertaining to say the least. And at best, we will ALL suffer along with you, as you have suffered for us. (like reading through Going Rogue).
Speaking of Walden Pond , God bless Don Henley.

Thank you. Your comment is a work of grace and beauty.
“those whose depth-of-perception..hovers about the depth of a freckle..”
and that part … lol
Kath the Scrappy, i’m feeling the same way about this book. seconds before i read your post i decided i would not buy this book.
Going Rogue = Gouging Rubes
Just sayin’ …
This article is from the NYT Magazine of January 10. Wonder if sarah is gonna campaign for him ??

I noticed on faux crawlers last night comments on the schmidt interview stated only that winky said her selection for vp was “God’s plan” and that schmidt said if someone else would have been chosen mclame would have lost bigger. Guess they didn’t hear the part about her being a lying POS or that she most likely is mentally unstable. ADN is fairly similar, they do squeeze in the middle that she made “some inaccurate statements” also comments are closed. ADN really should go the way of many local “rags” they appear to be very intimidated by the fraudulent, quitter grifter. What a bunch of wimps.
This liberal versus conservative back and forth reminds me of football game. I think Palin has the underdog persona. Or if you are a Palin fan maybe she winning. Some conservatives feel they must defend her. And the sad thing is that when they start with the “liberal elite” banter- then more Palin insults get tossed. Perhaps- the negativity on both end gets thick. ( Stop the madness) as one exercise guru once said. I say shame on Mccain’s people for picking an attractive woman to stand as their token. They thrust her on the stage. Did they really think that she would say “no.” Now, they are crying because they created Frankenstein’s’ bride and she wont go away!!! ughh another elite liberal.

*** Maybe it isn’t wise to note all of her missteps and misstatements as if they are evidence of a cavalier approach to politics and governing.
Maybe, just maybe, Palin is doing the best she can.
Maybe the woman who claimed she was “not a quitter” when she quit as governor of Alaska is not quite the bright star that her supporters imagine and her critics fear. Maybe she is just a little bit dimmer than we thought. ***
“Sadly, it’s not over yet…not until Palin’s star-struck supports recognize reality.”
They never will — that segment Andrew Sullivan reported about, the reader’s account of political science students zoning out and becoming “bots” any time Sarah Palin enters the conversation, yet being completely rational and logical in their discussions on nearly any other subject –that’s Jim-Jone-Jonestown scary.
“mud flap man” what is scary is these people believe the crap they spew, and it seems like there are a few out there walking around without straight jackets on.
“Pattagucci?” Is that a mash-up of Patagonia and Gucci?
Keep up the good work, “Mud flat man(sic)!”
Oh, my bad–it’s “mud flap man!” Yes, that makes much more sense.
I doubt the media will say things about Scarah’s mental stability. It’s too tacky to go there and will appear attack like. Even if it is true.
She should just sit down and shut the F up, lol. Then everyone would leave her alone.
BUT, she’s into milking the system for all she can get, and that should not be left alone, cheating, lying, manipulating and deception are all fair game. Her false bravado about everything bugs me too.
It’s kind of funny that Steve Schmidt is just now coming clean on what we all knew to be true from the day she was picked. She was unqualified, in over her head and not vetted, not at all.
Patagucci AKA Pradagonia.
The rantings of a madman complete with a couple of interesting references. Definitely a thing of beauty.

Your posts are poetry.
I am always happy to see a house spider lurking in some odd corner. I know that they are keeping the “bad” things away. I have no love lost for brown recluse spiders, however. One bit my son last Memorial Day and it nearly killed him – I do not exaggerate – he had three heart surgeries in seven months because of it.
usually i think palin won’t run for president. just in it for the money. but then i think she might, for one reason: to get her chance to give that lovely concession speech she had all readified back in ’08.
My theory about Sarah Palin is that she has an undiagnosed learning disability. It would explain the lackluster academic performance and the multiple colleges; the lack of preparation she showed at city council meetings, in other government assignments, and as mayor and as governor; it would explain her refusal/inability to be “prepped” for debates and events, and the Katie Couric interview. Also, didn’t she once make a comment to a competitor in a debate that she was awed by his preparation and knowledge, but thought that “it really didn’t matter?” Like some other students with undiagnosed learning problems, she was able to use vivacity and charm to hide or compensate for this deficit until she was thrust into a situation where you really have to do the homework, and she didn’t have her complete support network to do it for her.
Parents are surprisingly blind to their children’s problems sometimes, so I wouldn’t expect her teacher father to have automatically recognized a learning disability.
I see that the media and the GOP are all focusing on Reid’s comments not Palin’s lies and mental instability. But, more attention be placed on McCain for putting country last by his Palin pick. Andrew Sullivan said he should lose his seat over this, and I agree.
McCain decided that partisan politics and pandering to woman was more important than the safety and security of our nation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He needs to go……….NOW.
Democrats need to stage a counter attack to this fixation on Reid.
Wooohoooo! Don’t miss Glenn Greenwald today, it’s a hoppin’ rant!

No event in recent memory has stimulated the excitment and interest of Washington political reporters like the release of Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s new book, Game Change, and that reaction tells you all you need to know about our press corps. By all accounts (including a long, miserable excerpt they released), the book is filled with the type of petty, catty, gossipy, trashy sniping that is the staple of sleazy tabloids and reality TV shows, and it has been assembled through anonymous gossip, accountability-free attributions, and contrived melodramatic dialogue masquerading as “reporting.” And yet — or, really, therefore — Washington’s journalist class is poring over, studying, and analyzing its contents as though it is the Dead Sea Scrolls, lavishing praise on its authors as though they committed some profound act of journalism, and displaying a level of genuine fascination and giddiness that stands in stark contrast to the boredom and above-it-all indifference they project in those rare instances when forced to talk about anything that actually matters. …
The real value of a book like this lies in the opportunity it presents for Washington’s elite class to distract themselves and everyone else from the oozing corruption, destruction, decaying and pillaging going on — that these same Washington denizens have long enabled. … All imperial courts — especially collapsing ones — love to occupy themselves with insular, snotty trivialities. As this book and the excitement it has produced demonstrates, providing that distraction is exactly what our press corps most loves to do and what it does best.

“Political reporting” means “royal court gossip”

I’m a co-owner and host in a political chatroom, so sadly enough I am all too familiar with the type of people who “wrote” those letters. I’m constantly amazed at the inability of people to engage in a real debate, rather than just posting links to a right-wing blog and claim that’s the “truth”. If they are challenged to provide actually evidence of their claims, they become abusive, hostile and go back to reciting what Rush Limbaugh or Ann Colter said, as if these were facts.
I respect the right of people to hold differing opinions, but only if they can back up their views. Yes, there are some conservatives who regularly chat in this room who are intelligent people and can provide a rationale for their views, but they are few and far between. I think fear and lack of education make the ranters unable or unwilling to think for themselves. Most of these people are also part of the Christian Taliban and believe “God wants his country back again.” Personally, I think God has far too many other matters on His mind to really give a rat’s ass about politics. Or football games, for that matter.
Hang tight, you little Mud Flap, you. You’re in good company and we thank you for what you do.

OMG@26 The irony I’ve found with the Palinbots (and the students mentioned in Sullivan’s blog) is: supporters of President Obama were accused of treating him as a rock star during the campaign. He was considered an empty suit and void of any real policy knowledge or stands on issues. We were all groupies on the road to the White House.
Now look who they support, the Queen of Media attention, Drama Mama = Sarah Palin.
Groupies, indeed.
I agree with Wallflower that some of Sarah’s problems may be due to a learning disability. If my comments sound familiar, I have made the comparison before, using my nephew who has ADDH and George W. Bush, who probably has the same problem. For someone with a learning disability, it is overwhelming not to be able to read, process, write and handle the learning tasks that most of us go through when we go to school.
My nephew and GWB have several traits in common- a great facility with people, charming, the guy you really do want to have a beer with. But that sinking feeling of being unprepared in school overwhelmed my nephew, and he compensated with substance abuse. We know that Bush was a famous drunk, and Justin Frank, “Bush on the Couch,” goes into much more detail about other possible causes in Bush’s personality.
Sarah simply could not concentrate, study and prepare herself for the second most difficult job in the world. She had been able to charm her way through lower levels of politics, but I think that the Big Time overwhelmed her. Previous posts here suggested that Sarah might be on some form of medication, because she seemed to constantly lick her lips. If we need an example of someone “going off the rails,” we need only look at the resignation speech again; something wasn’t right with Sarah that day.
The other traits that Sarah and George share is that of never being able to admit a mistake. It took years for Bush to admit that “Mission Accomplished” or “Bring it on” were bad choices of speech. So far, Sarah has never admitted a mistake; she has stubbornly insisted that it is always some one else’ fault, and she is the victim. As long as Sarah tries to stay politically active by issuing ghost written face book posts, soliciting contributions for her PAC, is out there earning money by making political speeches, she still can influence people, and for that reason, she remains a dangerous force.
It’s obvious that Palin is finished as a potential GOP presidential candidate. She’s not being “swept under the rug” because Republicans have something against liars; they just can’t abide stupid liars!
Yay! Open Thread! This was on last night after 60 Minutes (and just in time-!)
Save it for when you need it, every moment is breathtaking!

Hey, look who’s going to get to “contribute” to Faux Niews: http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/01/11/sarah-palin-to-contribute-to-fox-news/?hp
Any news from MA, on the race to fill Senator Kennedy’s vacancy? The GOP is deploying their resources to close down the Democratic Senate majority.

As others have already posted, Palin signs a deal with Fox News! This does not mean that she is giving up on being Queen, oops, I mean President. After all, Huck is also a contributor on Fox. What it does mean is that she’ll actually have to work at something. Of course, Fox might already recognize her short comings and have already hired her ghost writers. She might be on air a lot, sounding intelligent due to the carefully crafted speeches written by others. She’ll be a talking head that her fans will adore and her detractors might mistake for someone of substance. Heavy sigh.
My hope is that she’ll be forced to wing it on live TV and show the world her ineptitude (although I do not believe she would ever sign a contract that would require such a thing). I also hope that the barracuda shows her stuff and that the likes of Hannity, Greta, O’Reilly and Beck get to feel those razor sharp teeth sink in as she steps over them on her way to the glory that she believes she deserves.
@OMG, they’ll get to see her up close and personal! What makes Fox think they can turn her word salad into anything remotely decipherable? The McCain campaign couldn’t.
I also think that this sends a signal that she is not running for 2012.
Nice cross section of whacko. I assume these people do not rely on written communication for their livelihood.
I like the 50 state sweep, when she is not even in the top five of repubs.
DKOS does a Saturday roundup of their crazy mail, although it has been kind of tame over the holidays.
Do you think this will hurt McCain’s re election in AZ?
I just read in the comments over at HuffPost that $arah has been hired to be an occasional commenter on Fox Noise.
Sorry, I forgot to get the link. It shouldn’t be hard to find though. Give it an hour, it’ll be all over the intertoobs.
MsQuitter should get along just fine @ Faux –
they can’t ever get the facts straight either.
Ork! I just received a Washington Post news alert that SP just signed on with Fox as a pundit! It’s a good thing I don’t watch that channel because if I had to be exposed to her voice… much less the nonsense and non-thoughts that come out of her mouth I’d pull my own hair out!
I love that she’s joining Faux noise… she’s the kiss of death. They’ll pay. teehee
I see that someone else had posted a link to something on PBS. I saw a show last night that tied in with Mudflats that you might enjoy. Not sure if PBS has a listing for what is coming up later in the week. Look for this though.
The Show was called ” Crown of the Continent- Alaska ”
It is about Wrangell St Elias Nat’l Park. It is sort of in AKM’s backyard.
Maybe AKM might do a story or post some pictures if she has been there…?
(From this webpage link )
“Wrangell Saint Elias, a half-day drive east of Anchorage, is a park of enormous size, 13.2 million acres (528 thousand squares kilometers) six times the size of Yellowstone, larger than Switzerland), which is populated by enormous mountains glaciers, and rivers. There are 9 of the 16 highest mountains in the US, and more than 150 glaciers, among them the Malaspina which alone is the size of Yellowstone, the Nabesna, which is 75 miles long, and the Hubbard, which advances 10 meters per day.”
http://www.terragalleria.com/parks/np.wrangell-stelias.html

That webpage at the bottom has page after page of pics of the park. Some of these would be great for a desktop background if you wanted. Page after page of FANTASTIC views. Check them out.
Way to go Rupert!
Another Murdoch corporate welfare funding of the Palin household.
His publishing house gave her a book deal, his news corporation
is putting her on FAUX . . . . Does he have any other ways to corporately support unstable Granny Grifter Quittypants and her unfortunate brood?
Actually–I love that Sarah is going on FAUX. It’s not exactly screeching drive-by, ghost written Facebook crap while she sucks down crunch wraps in a robe. I’ll miss that cesspool of idiocy, but knowing GG she’ll continue to bless us with her shrill, clueless diatribes.
Now she’ll get to read (can she)? pre-written crap, while screeching about Obama, the ungodly, and energy independence (all of which she knows nothing about–except probably about being ungodly). Only now — someone competent will be doing her hair. Also, she can get even more verbally *itch-slapped by Olbermann for squealing moronic drudge like the other patients at FAUX. Maybe she’ll even up her Worse Person in the World cred.
C’mon folks—-Granny’s always a good time. . . . .
Oh, my. I just saw it myself.
Maybe lack of a tv isn’t such a bad thing after all…
OMG Mudpups! I knew it – Palin is joining Fox News!!!
http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/01/11/sarah-palin-to-contribute-to-fox-news/
Ok….she will be a contributor to an ongoing series but will not, apparently, have a show of her own. YET.
This is great news – because now she is PART OF THE MEDIA she loathes and it means the content of whatever “news” show she will be hosting is now fair game.
Irishgirl…I doubt that they’ll let her be herself. She’ll give canned remarks in a safe environment. They’ve seen her enough to know that she can’t be trusted on her own. But she can read a speech; she’s still getting credit for her convention speech written by Matthew Scully. They credit her with “hitting one out of the park” just because she could recite someone else’s words and thoughts. She doesn’t seem to mind as long as the credit goes to her just like it did with her bylines on the Washington Post op-eds, her FB postings and her book.
Fox will make sure that she sounds intelligent by providing the content for her to read. She’ll be taped, so they’ll be able to control any attempt on her part to wing it. I hope she tires of being handled by them too and goes totally wacko rogue for all the world to see in her new MSM role.
Sarah Palin and Fox News….how utterly, vindicatingly satisfying.
Well Granny O’ Grifter is going to have to actually work at something and also answer to others. This could be interesting.
She’s got a contract now so unless she managed to have a “quitters clause” included she’s going to have to perform as expected and for as long as agreed upon. And she’ll also have to listen to a producer. And a director. And an editor. And the poor little schlep that is going to catch hell for being the one to have to tell her ” you’re needed on the set in 2 minutes Mrs. Palin . ”
She’s going to be working with young, thin , attractive women and this will cause her to question her image , constantly. She’ll not eat and will go back to a power bar and Red Bull diet ( if she hasn’t already) She’ll be in a job where she is not going to be in a position of authority. When she’s in town the TMZ type photographers will be out in force now .
And now that the reality of Winky Dink is beginning to find its way to the surface and phrases like ” mentally unstable” are being welded to her image , she is not going to be able to play the diva card for much longer. She’ll be spending extended time in NYC where there is no pedestal with her name on it. She’ll be B list celeb, at best.
Yep. Gonna be interesting.
hahahahha I see that “Palin Joins Faux” is already big news here on the thread. DRATS. I wanted to break the news! hehehe
I think my day just perked right up =)
She’ll have lots of viewers no doubt. But it will be the kiss of death for Fox and for her. Make no mistake – THIS is the train wreck we knew would come someday.

Talk about a ‘viper in your bosom’. Makes me wonder what she’s got on him.
I agree with the comments here that this Fox gig will soon turn into quite the revelation on Sarah Palin.
Palin has never been able to work with others well. She starts off on a good note – but sooner or later, it turns into bitter recriminations. Murdoch has no idea what he has just bought into.
As much as Palin’s appearances will be canned, polished and engineered – there is no way to direct and guide the ambition of Sarah Palin. She WILL grow tired of her handlers and start bitching about filters….being held back….etc etc. And the business will really hit the fan!
Then I will be able to post “Dear Fox & Rupert – you reap what you sow.”
=)
New post up about the Faux stuff… http://www.themudflats.net/2010/01/11/palin-signs-deal-with-fox-news-and-were-all-shocked-shocked-we-say/
But Big Oil and Coal lobbyists are demanding the Congress pull the plug on Obama. Senator Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican and the #3 top recipient of campaign donations from oil companies and electric utilities, is leading the charge by pushing an amendment to block any efforts to enforce the Clean Air Act.4
Did everyone get their email from moveon.org? Seems that Murkowski will be trying to block President Obama’s clean air act. They are looking for signatures for a petition.
The vote on Murkwoski’s Clean Air Act rollback amendment is scheduled for next week. Right now it’s too close to call, but we can stop it if enough of us speak out.
Take a minute to sign our petition opposing efforts to pull the plug on President Obama’s enforcement of the Clean Air Act. Click here to add your name
Sorry. I don’t know what happened on that last post. It got all messed up.
In any case, Murkowski is going to try and block the Clean Air Act.
Moveon.org is looking for signature for their petition.
Sarah will have to “black” out FOX from her hats in her future vacation plans once they throw her to the curb. The Fox network knows she will boost their ratings and it is simply all about money for everyone involved.
I wish for her to zip her lips but that won’t happen so we may as well laugh at her when she trips over and over and over.
And why does Meg continue to call the “the governor ” she’s a quitter and a hater. . call it what she is
These notes sound like they’re written by the same guy who apparently has several million dollars in my name just waiting to be claimed in Nigeria.
Apologies if this is also in US press, it was full page in the national Australian today: (too long to post)

Palins’ book “Going Rogue” is advertised on TV here (Ohio) for $4.95 and you get 4 months of Newsweek with it. That tells you how brisk sales are for her propoganda.
Heeee heee heee heee, can’t WAIT to hear what Olbermann and Maddow have to say about FAUX Noise’s latest acquisition! What’s that old saying, something about “cream rises…..and *something* floats”? Sounds like Sarey has floated to the appropriate level.
Looks like Sarah is not the only Palin who will be raking in the bucks. Bristol with her lawyer Van Flein has signed a deal to with a tabloid to do a spread on the Palins. So much for not exploiting Tripp for money.
http://palingates.blogspot.com/
CONSPIRACY!!! The far right conservatives, (ie, Sarah, Beck, Hannity, etc,) have all been quick to jump on type of imaginary conspiracy they invent, I would like for you to seriously consider what Murdoch possibly has built for his own use. Murdoch who controls FOX network, helped in starting the Tea Party’s with Beck’s 9-12 movement and his crazy theories, has control of the print media that he owns, now has the increased his ability to control the conservatives by using Palin and her fans to further build and control the Tea Partyer. The FOX network is the main news source all of the conservatives listen to and seem to seriously listen to and believe whatever it says. Since Murdock now has control of moat of the Right through FOX, is it not reasonable to assume that he can control the entire right wing, espeacially since the Republican Party is in so much trouble. I would like to hear others opinion on this.
I don’t think it is as much about power as money. As long as the crazies are bringing it in, he will stay with it. I have been reading that his family is not happy with the one sided stuff, but he just gave Ailes (sp) more money and power. Their different groups already circle “you know what” stories/lies so there is nothing new there. I think the right wing is kind of divided right now so controlling all of it may not be possible.

Wow! Thanks for the hummingbird link. Amazing. It is worth the 50 minutes of viewing. It was cleansing for my mind to watch that after reading all the craziness in the news today. What amazing and beautiful creatures.
It was bound to happen someday….

Janes Switches From GOP To Tea Party Ticket In Tennessee
And the demise of the GOP as a national party has officially started…
Since the palin people read here I guess I can say this if you want an Taliban to take over our country get out move where they are go to Iran or Afghanistan or Pakistan and join them with there only one belief system. We certainly do not need that in our country which was founded on freedom of religion.I am guessing they don’t realize we smell the sulfur wherever they and palin are and if they checked anything out to get the facts Clinton did not win and should not have won.Bill Clinton did in fact make bad remarks about the black people.IMO MS Clinton is right where she is doing the best good.IMO Bill C would have been a shadow president just like Mr palin was a shadow governor and had IMO much to much to say about things that were none of his business being in the middle of.
