I don't know about you guys, but we have a problem with grubs in our lawns where I live.
When I saw this, I thought what a great idea, I can hang it on my lawn and scare away all the other grubs!!!!!!

Krubozumo Nyankoye Says: January 15th, 2010 at 6:25 PM kareninOR @ 93 I will willingly go there. I am 60 years old and have no progeny, I intend to have no progeny. It is a simple choice, who in their right mind would willfully bring anyone into the world we face in the future?
------
No wonder I like you, KN. Since grammar school and reading Diet For a Small Planet, I've felt that no way did I want kids and it would only go down hill from there. I'm about 15 years younger than you and, even as a kid, thought the responsibility of being a parent was so huge, I didn't want to try it and screw it up given the way the world was going. A Ph D candidate when I was an under grad told me, "You can't take yourself out of the gene pool!" Oh yes I can, but the thing I fear as a single person is not having someone to advocate for me in my old age.

My parents' 50 year anniversary is this Sunday, so it's not like I didn't have a good example, but neither my older sister nor I have ever married nor had children. Both of our under graduate degrees are in science. I don't know if that has something to do with it.

Watched Christa Brelsford interviewed on The Today Show this morning. What an inspiration she is. A sad thing to happen to her but her attitude is something else. She's from AK??

kareninOR @ 93

It is a simple choice, who in their right mind would willfully bring anyone into the world we face in the future?

I could go on at length, this is usually so, but I will leave it at that.

Cheers,

I was fortunate to know the Brelsford family while I lived in Anchorage. I "mentored" Christa's brother Julian and his band as they got into Irish music, and to know Julian was to know his entire fantastic family. Christa is such a wonderful representative of her family, of Alaska, and of the human race in general. If anyone up in Anchorage reads this and knows the family, tell them that Maggie, Julian's Irish music mentor, sends all her love and good wishes.

Heartening to hear that Christa Brelsford is from Alaska. I saw her on Larry King last night and didn't realize she was an Alaskan. What a LIGHT is that lady! Now, there's someone who could be progressing Alaska not to mention mankind.

By the way I have a perverse sense of humor, and I love the pistol-packing fetus. Just about sums up Sarah's vision of progressing this great nation.
