the damn things those conservatives say!!! (including sista sarah)
I like this paragraph about “them” THINKING they have a monopoly on Christianity.

“It amazes me how some Republican politicians claim a monopoly on Christianity and then go out and say and do some of the most un-Christian things imaginable,” said Charleston attorney Mullins McLeod, who participated in a candidates forum in Columbia along with Bauer Saturday. “… Bauer’s comments are despicable and the total opposite of the Christian values Bauer espouses.”

I think it was AustinTx who posted a link to creation museum photos yesterday, and reminded me of a video I’d seen back in ’07. It seems that Cold Springs, KY is home to (a or the?) Answers In Genesis: Creation Museum. That may not have been the most convincing place to build it. That area is within a large geologic area known as the Cincinnati Series, named for a rock layer that formed in an ancient sea bed and one of the richest fossil areas anywhere. Literally millions of 440 million-year-old fossils were excavated for construction of the foundation for a building dedicated to the premise of a 6K-yr-old earth. Woops. I love that the defenders of indefensible ideas so often become their own best parody. (For geology buffs, the creator of the video also posted a virtual library of links to other sources.)

Fossils: years ago, I visited a very conservative church (Wisconsin Synod Lutheran). The sermon claimed that God planted fossilized “dinosaur bones” under the earth at the time of creation (about 6000 years ago) as a test of faith. When the fossils were dug up, which would you believe: some old fossils, or the scriptures? Anybody who made the wrong choice and thought the fossils disproved the recent creation related in scriptures . . . well on the way to hell.

That God — what a sense of humor.

Nice one, flyinyoureye. Thanks for the chuckle.

Just read the full article about that South Carolina twit Bauer. And if his comments aren’t bad enough, some of the commenters are equally callous. I think what most of them don’t realize or don’t want to realize is that not everyone getting help from the government does is by choice. And many of them have one or two jobs and it’s just not enough.

I think they all should go back to Sunday School with the pre-schoolers. They apparently need to reread part of the Bible that starts with Matthew 25: 34. Clearly, they missed the finer points of that passage, which is my favorite.

Another thing – it makes me wonder if Sanford refused to resign knowing that Bauer would replace him. Here I thought he was just being clueless, but maybe he was actually doing the state a favor.

It’s so depressing the face some people put on Christianity. It’s like they missed the entire point. It’s like someone watching a game of football and deciding punting on first down is a great strategy. Just no connection to the game at all.

Cute pic. Here’s hoping Fox forgets about Sarah before that show becomes a reality.

Anyone else seen this? The often re-subbed Hitler in the bunker scene, but in this one he finds out Sarah Palin resigned.

Why do fossilized trees stand vertically through layers of supposedly “millions of years old” strata? Without showing ANY signs of wear or rot on areas of different “ages”? Why are more geologists converting to “global Cataclysm” theory, the more they learn? Why did the man who cracked the code of D.N.A. sequencing say something like ” I spent 60 in the laboratory, only to discover what I had learned in Sunday school?” Why are their NO “transitional stage” fossils? Why have Human footprints been discovered at the lowest strata level? Perhaps http://s8int.com/ has some answers. They certainly raise more questions for the open mind to evaluate. Please remove blinders as neccassery. A true scientist KNOWS nothing is impossible until tested and proven. I reccomend SEEING and Testing for yourself as many use religion as a political tool for Mass Persuation to control their populations. This is evident in the coming Numerical Contropolis described in Revalations (revealings, as in seeing) Also see http://bibleprobe.com/300great.html for more answers. May we never stop learning… BTW, I’m not red. -PEACE-

Is Sarah Palin qualified to be president – PBS poll

I just got an action alert re Palin. Mudflats seems like a good place to share.

“PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified to be president. Apparently the Right Wing knew about this is advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes. The poll will be reported on PBS…”

Voting is a simple click, no sign in or anything. When I just responded it was just over 50 percent saying yes to qualified.

This is an old one that’s getting recirculated. I think it’s from September of 2008. But no harm to vote now! AKM

Oh jeez – that stupid poll rears its stupid head again! Many letters were written to NOW at PBS about taking down that piece of sh*t poll, esp. since you could sit there and click a million times if you felt like it. I wrote at least four times myself and never got an answer. They put up some stupid reason on the main part of their site (NOW on PBS) and basically it was a load of crap. I can’t find that now since this is over a year old. No one will be publishing any results of this – let the whack jobs wear out their fingers and keyboards.

Sites like this, just like the ADN did, keep this crap up because it generates hits. That’s IT. That’s ALL. Hits translate into money. I ignore all polls – they mean nothing.

The Creationists have many fake science and fake news sites all over the Internet. The first time I hit one of the fake science ones, I sat there reading (I was doing research on sea water’s similarity to human plasma) and got the most puzzled look on my face. It started out fine and reasonable for about two paragraphs, then the rest got so weird so fast that I should have caught on sooner than I did. As in catching on in 30 seconds, instead of five minutes. I just didn’t know that they had posted all this crap out there masquerading as fact. I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair. They really do believe people are stupid, or hope they are so they can shove this crap down someone’s throat.

They’ve been doing this for awhile – so remember that in case one of these comes up in a search or research. This is their version of free speech – open mouth, get out keyboard, and lie like he11! I’m sure many of you have gotten all the fake history lessons (always trashing some liberal either new or old) sent around in email – the two first clues: 1) it’s usually all caps 2) it says to pass on to everyone you know! There are tiny tidbits of facts or truth, like some dates and names and legislation. The rest is lies and twisting. Gee – think there’s a pattern here?

Watched POTUS w/ Diane Sawyer tonight and at the end felt that he continues to leave me believing that his intentions are truly good and that he has a balanced mix of insight, humility, spirit strength and a daily ” how am i doing and how can i do better ? ” query.

Missed Shannyn today. Actually missed most of life today unless it was sitting squarely on my desk and growling at me. I did manage to make a potato/mushroom/roasted garlic soup for dinner though. It will be available for upload to the ‘Flats in about 30 minutes. Place your orders early.

Bauer’s comments are not Christian (at least my God would not approve), and are beyond stupid. So he thinks the children of people on welfare should be punished because of what their parents may or may not do. How many people would the state have to hire to check into all of the parents; it would probably cost more than the free lunches, etc. would cost. Bauer’s way would practically guarantee many of the children will become drop-outs and unable to get decent jobs. Maybe that’s what Bauer wants, a steady stream of workers who have to work in menial jobs with very low wages. Sounds like a mean, ole Republicant to me.

Our local TV station does a lot of polls on various stuff. A few weeks ago they asked about marriage equality.

At the end of the evening over 70% were for equality. So they kept it up for over a week. I think they finally got about 45% for h8te.

It’s always fun to hear the anchor on the late news have to report results they don’t agree with. I vote because I think it may give them some idea that not everyone who watches is a backer of Kevin McCarthy and his thugs. BTW, I tune in for the weather.

    * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * *

Not only not Christian but totally devoid of logic. Eating for sustinance and the drive to procreation are the two most powerful drives. One does not negate the other. Bauer’s momma was right that if you don’t feed cats they will go away – away to find somewhere else to feed or to die. So is that really the analogy he wants to make? That poor kids that could do better in school if they had a provided lunch than not should just “go somewhere else or die?”.

Also, taking away food does NOT equate to “Oh, I didn’t get a free lunch, guess I wont have sex”. What idiot would think that?

One of my favorite utterly twisted bits from the creationists is “teach the controversy,” falsely implying first off that there is a scientific controversy involving a scientific theory and something completely outside the realm of science. But it gets better when you consider that there are legitimate scientific controversies – many, many of them – debated every day among learned scientists. By their convoluted logic such controversies should be settled in classrooms by as-yet uneducated students.

I have pointed out to several creationists that there is also an abundance of unsettled theological topics still debated. My suggestion that perhaps those should be turned over to Sunday school classes for resolution seems to have been rejected w/out discussion. Go figure.
