ok, this is an open thread. A new topic. A stupid SC topic in fact.
I’m sitting here in my jammies, half sick, reading my favorite blog. And what do I hear on the news but this:
when Jenny Sanford married Mark Sanford he insisted upon removing the phrase about being faithful to each other from their wedding vows.
    WHAT?????

Wouldn’t you have thought a loved one might have pulled Jenny aside at the time of the nuptials and given her a bottle labeled ” oncoming doom” pills. What was she thinking? Or not thinking? Faithful is the big one.

The man in the snow would have learned a great deal from our biggest Newf in the pack. Franklin KNOWS that he can hide his 168 lb body if he lowers his head and doesn’t look at anyone.

About smart women in the south, especially of “that” age. I lived in the south for 20 years. I am smart. I am a bit older than “that” age, but there is a prevalence of women who marry weak men, try to prop them up, have children and then when the weakness comes through these weak men, are surprised that the man is unfaithful. Usually, the woman continues in this relationship. Jenny Sanford had to be kicked in the gut again and again and again but this total idiot before she would quit.

Um. . . yes, I tried to be a Southern Bell. Never was very good at it. When I discovered my husband had been unfaithful, kicked him out, and moved north. The Southern family was quite concerned that I just not take him back. Yea, Right.

I just KNEW you were a strong woman. It shines through.

My old dog, Taffy, would stick her head under a dresser when she heard thunder. Of course, the rest of her big 80-pound body would be visible, but she was sure that nothing bad could find her because her head was hidden. She eventually took to hiding in the bathtub. I finally restorted to giving her a mild sedative to help her through those times.

#20 @fish hawk – Jenny Sanford said she was willing to forgive Mark, but that reconciliation was another matter, and that the work of reconciliation was up to Mark. She said it was possible she might take him back if he wanted to do the work of reconciliation, but that was going to be up to him.
Shortly after she said that, she and her boys moved out of the governor’s mansion.

Her forgiveness only opened the door – I guess he didn’t want to go through.
I read her stated ‘willingness to forgive’ as wanting to follow her religious beliefs, not that she was excusing his behavior. I’ll admit that HuffPo and others had headlines that made it sound like she would take him back, when what she actually said was only that it was a possibility, IF.

    “““““
    lilibart: You’ve said it all – brilliantly! “Pseudo logic”/’rwinger logic’ to be sure: if A + B = C, and D + E = C, then A must = D (and, continuing that ‘logic’, B must = E.)

    IOW, taking the true statements: 4 + 6 = 10 and 8 + 2 = 10, and applying to them the aforementioned ‘logic’, 4 must = 8 and 6 must = 2, also, too.

Therefore, the ‘logic’ allowing for the mantle of “Wonderful, Selfless, Mother” to be bestowed upon Ms. Tebow for (putting aside her time-line highly-questionable ‘reasons’ for) *not* giving credence to her doctor’s advice/ having an abortion, can equally be applied to other situations. Like with Rahm calling a handful of whacko-idea people “retards” for presenting him with a truly whacko idea, Rahm must have been denigrating SPs DS child [the syndrome, of which, is characterized by a retardation in learning, etc.]

How Sanford can act so sanctimonious when he never had any intentions to be faithful to the point where he excluded it from his vows is beyond me. When it does come up, it’s taken as fact. I mean…….I just find it so hard to believe and more importantly, why did she feel the need to make up such a story, if it is in fact made up. You know what I mean? She said she was pregnant and so naturally people would assume a birth at some point…..so why the need for the drama? Have the baby, announce the birth, done.

I guess I just don’t get her thing of not leaving well enough alone…it’s almost like she goes out of her way to invite attention/scrutiny then turns around later to whine about it. Is it all an elaborate plan to keep the spotlight on her constantly?

What kind of perspective would she have or share because Andee has posted here on these threads in the past and just last week had comments on Bree Palin. And Sarah was ” the Governor ” when this happened.

Is there anyone locally there in the Mat-Su area that has called and or asked the Tax assessor for a response or opinion..?
If they wait long enough Sarah might respond through Meg and the Tax office will just AGREE with her explanation. Because after all… that is just easier and more politically correct.

Ummm the former half term Gov must be speechless today. However, her spokesperson — Meg emailed a response

fairly small article – from HuffPo link

Palin believes Limbaugh’s repeated use of the word “retard” yesterday was “crude and demeaning,” her spokesperson emails.

In the wake of Palin’s demand that Rahm Emanuel be fired for saying the liberal activist strategy on health care was “f–king retarded,” a bunch of people have been asking how she’d react to Limbaugh’s tirade on the air yesterday.

“Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards,” Rush said, adding that Rahm’s meeting yesterday with advocates for the mentally handicapped was a “retard summit at the White House.”

I asked Palin spokesperson Meghan Stapleton for comment on Rush’s rant, and she emailed me this:

“Governor Palin believes crude and demeaning name calling at the expense of others is disrespectful.”

It hardly has the passion of her response to Rahm, and there’s no call for him to step down. But given Rush’s stature among conservatives, it’s pretty interesting that she went this far, denouncing his on-air rant as “crude and demeaning name-calling.”

perhaps more being posted later …. @

Thanks for the link. I also have someone in my family who exhibits nearly all of the personality traits listed in this article. Several of us have tried for years to get this person to admit that she needed help but were always the ones being blamed for everything that was wrong. We recently discovered a series of financial and legal transactions going back almost 20 years that were done by manipulating and lying to everyone. Even those of us who have been the victims of this person’s deliberately hurtful behavior for years were shocked at the depths of evil we are still uncovering. For weeks, my stomach knotted every time the phone rang or I checked the mailbox, because every day brought a new revelation, worse than the last.

We have since made the painful but necessary choice to walk away from this person, who is an extremely close relative. There are many people in this person’s life who believe every lie that she has told about us, but we know that the only thing we can do is completely cut her out of our lives forever and not dwell on what we cannot change.

It is truly amazing how much damage people with this kind of personality can do to families and communities. You have my sympathy and my understanding.

I’m bumping up maribel’s post 288 from the tax cheat thread about the assessments of the Palins’ Lake Lucille property. I thought the red barn was valued at just under half a million on Palin’s pre election declaration. Refer to the original post for the tax roll links. I hope someone is doing screen captures of this stuff.

#288: The correct links are below for the Wasilla house tax assessments. The Palins own two adjoining lots on Lake Wasilla, 1120 and 1140 W. Parks Hwy.

#1120 lists land value at 27,000 and bldg at 27,500
#1140 lists land value at 116,000 and bldg at zero

How is this possible? What you seen their Lake Lucille house? It’s a stunner. How could the building be valued at only 27,500? (and why has it decreased in value in the last two years from 29,800?

I think I know why the tax assessor didn’t know about the improvements to the Palin property that was still showing, on the books, as unimproved vacant land:

The Palins never pulled any building permits whatsoever. These apparently vary from region to region, and for smaller structures in some municipalities not all of them are required, but I have a feeling those improvements were done on the sly, with no permits or code compliance inspections whatsoever.

Just to be sure, I checked it out. And according to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough website’s Code Compliance Division:

“When constructing or placement of any building 480 square feet, or an addition to an existing structure greater than 10 percent of the existing square footage; requires a Mandatory Land Use Permit. A Borough Code Officer will review the application and determine compliance with Setbacks, Zoning, Flood Plain Development standards, Conditional Uses and other related ordinances.”

    They are so very busted.

If they *had* pulled any building permits, any at all, the tax authorities would have known there were improvements being made to the property, right?

A good part of MA has forgotten about Scott Brown due to the death-by-bully of Phoebe Prince in South Hadley – home of uber-liberal Mount Holyoke College. The school district told a local newspaper that their investigation of the matter is complete and that there’s likely to be a press conference tomorrow as to… well, they told 3 different media outlets 3 different things about what to expect tomorrow. Police and DA investigations continue regardless and could take a few months to complete.

Judging by comments left at my blog (comments are moderated), people in the western part of MA are really ticked that this girl died this way. It’s overshadowed (and replaced) the election of Brown.

Excellent article tonight on HuffPo regarding federal funding to faith-based organizations –

“Faith, Hope and Charity: Why President Obama’s ‘Faith-Based’ Agenda Must Change”

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/barry-w-lynn/faith-hope-and-charity-wh_b_450099.html

“Mr. President, this is not “change,” and I am losing “hope.” Please set your “faith-based” house in order. Shut down the Faith-based Council and issue executive orders and regulations clearly banning hiring bias and proselytizing by faith-based groups that take public funds.”

The Problem is that Huffington Post put up the AP story instead of AKM’s story. Basically the AP story is a rewrite of AKM’s post about this, so Rachel D’ORO is getting the headlines for AKM’s breaking story.
While I am glad that the story is getting attention AKM deserves the credit for it not D’ORO!
    That is TOTAL BS!

Yes, I agree. AKM’s post should have been on the front page.

However, I am delighted to hear that this is now getting more attention from the MSM.

@ sauerkraut, I was very saddened to hear of the suicide of that young Irish girl. That is just so awful.
