I am the anon that first commented on the Mystik sponsorship.

AKM described how this story got here correctly.

I’d like to apologize for any confusion or hard feelings caused by my comments, and what some may think was left out.

InJuneau at 5:13 P.M. was close when they said the following-

” I don’t know what the relative timing of the publication of this story on the two blogs was, but I would like to point out that it’s possible the two authors were both working the story independently but at the same time and happened to post at very different times depending on their time zones and when they were awake to post.”

Like so many other similar Alaska doings, just because it isn’t in the news or on the blogs DOES NOT mean that no one knows about it.

I’ve followed the snowmachine team since the nomination of Sarah in 2008.
There is serious money involved ( for average commonsense real American people anyway), and the questions concerning the financial disclosures of this have also been covered here and elsewhere.
There have been lots of pictures showing the equipment, machines and so on.
The coverage of the Iron Dog races is extensive.

I’ve known of the sponsorship by Mystik for a while. The minute I saw it I knew what it meant.

Citgo’s ownership of Mystik has been upsetting some users of Mystik products for years. See this commentary from July 2006 if you want- it even talks about the Alaska heating oil distribution program- but I don’t know if the facts are correct about that. To see the comment click this-

So this this Mystik sponsorship was just another fact-which I could have posted here or elsewhere- but I waited because I thought it would get better. It could have been disclosed by anyone else- I’m sure others knew about this in advance of the story breaking.

The real story here is that Sarah came through like I suspected she would- she made a commercial for the IDITAROD featuring the snowmachine with the Mystic logo clearly visible.

Todd sponsored by Mystik is one thing- Sarah PIMPING the product like she did in the commercial is what made it time to add some background info to her commercial pitch. (That is why this sponsorship was so valuable to Mystik- because of Sarah and her publicity that has in turn made Todd famous. Sarah returned the favor to Mystik with the Iditarod commercial.)

I visit this and other blogs like Palingates to see what is happening. I’ve been stopping by here since the day she was nominated in 2008.
AKM is one of a number of great blogs and sites about Alaska issues.
Each is different and that is ok.

Once the commercial got out then it was time to post.

In checking links to do my post I found the palingates post.
I thought about putting up a link to palingates, or a mention that a story was up there and decided that might get this information deleted. (I joined to post and my comments were held for moderation). The information was important, and I wanted it to be up here. Here a few reasons.

It was verified fact.
It is either a significant illustration of her hypocrisy, or it shows how she does not even know where the money is coming from- but she’s still selling anyway. It is one or the other.
If it was here at AKM it was probably headed to Huffington Post and into the regular media.
The story needed to be out as above DURING the IDITAROD- for the same reasons
for the same reason that Sarah made that commercial- maximum exposure.

Like I said before each of these blogs is different and that is OK people are free to go to where they want.

I don’t know about the “non-Alaskan” bloggers, but I’ve been lucky to have read the likes of AKM, Phil, Diva, Shannyn, Gryphen, and a few others who seem to KNOW their stories are for a bigger purpose than their own names or posts.

Anyone else notice this all became a “Me First” instead of “Hey, look at that hypocrite!” Why would anyone bother to research or write if it’s all about them?
