The Mudflats

Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

Today’s “Quote of the Day” is Brought to You by Congressman Don Young

During the President’s Day recess from Congress, Don Young (R) was back in Alaska. And then, when the weekend was over, he went home to Washington D.C. Mudflatter J happened to be in the airport with him, and passed on this little tidbit.

I flew into Seattle yesterday with Mr. Young. Waiting in line to board he remarked to someone beside him that he was returning to “monkeyland”… I almost lost control when I heard this, but decided to not create a “situation.”

I was not impressed. What kind of person are we sending to DC on our behalf? I will work hard to see him defeated.

Gee. What might Congressman Young have meant by that?

Can we just ask your Don Young just what he meant by that? Do you think he will respond? “monkeyland” does not fare well by any definition or interpretation.

He’s a snide blowhard. Can’t stand his attitude, he needs to be slapped with a dead salmon just like Palin. He’s all puffed up with dog poo on the brain and god knows what else, and I just don’t want to be anywhere near him when he finally explodes. I would like it if Sarah were standing right next to him when it happens, though – with her mouth wide open like it usually is. I can’t imagine a prettier sight!

WARNING: possibly (probably!) double entendre content.

Maybe the little man was just overcome with uncontainable excitement and hopping-on-tippy-toes anticipation… is ‘she’ in DC and he was fixin’ to go play with her and her cute little red monkey shoes? Even the mere thought of such an amazingly awesome encounter’ld be enough to drive any predisposed peckerwood totally batchit crazy, no? How could such thoughts result in anything *but* a grand display of (b)latent stupidity and a boiling-over case of the gigantic dumbazz? Was he, in his throws [sic] of verbally exuberant ecstasy, also looking forward to using some mystic lube too, maybe? beth.

Some of us recognize racism for what it is – hateful and inappropriate. That’s different than being PC, imo. Don Young continually shows that he should not be in office, and no matter what he meant, if he has no more respect for Washington, DC, than that, then he doesn’t belong there and doesn’t deserve anyone’s respect – or their vote.

Yon Dung is talking monkeys, but HE is the one flinging poo.

This episode really struck a nerve. It bothered me all night and I woke up weeping. Deep despair.

“Love is but a song we sing
    Fear’s the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
    Or make the angels cry
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why
    Come on people now…”

I know I’m fortunate to have a congressional rep I like and respect (Carolyn Maloney), and senators who usually do right by us (Gillibrand and Schumer).

If I lived in Alaska, I’d be working my head off to get Yon Dung out of office. Good luck to you, Alaska, and health and peace to all.

I’ll be in the chatroom at midnight EST (9pm Pacific, 8 pm Alaska).

That is a sickening and vile example of racism. The only thing that makes me feel just a little better is that I didn’t get the reference at all – my first thought was well, what was that POSSIBLY about? It was only as I started reading the comments, that the racist intent hit me like a slap in the face! Then in rapid fire, I realized his targets were our President & his family, any of his appointments who are black, all of the black federal employees, and all of the black residents of DC.
Did Don Young make up this insult himself, or has this long been an insult snidely exchanged among GOP racists? Did this comment come into being with Obama’s election, or has it been part of the GOP “in-crowd” vocabulary for decades?

Let me tell you something, Don Young, if you or your lackeys read this blog – and I bet you do. When you demean and insult non-white citizens and the capital city of these United States, you insult every American, regardless of race. It’s time you moved to a new Last Frontier – one with no people of color – I suggest Mars, or perhaps Alpha Centauri.
As negative as are my emotions about many of the elected officials of our national government (and those have nothing to do with race, except that the majority of them are old, white, rich males) I have always treasured our nation’s capitol – with its powerful monuments and wonderful museums, the great cultural presentations at the Kennedy Center, the tremendous variety of ethnic restaurants – the many holidays I’ve spent there with my family when various of my kids were studying or working there – the wonderful 80th birthday party weekend we spent with my Mom there – geting a VIP tour of the WhiteHouse, taking a trolley car tour, a birthday party/dinner at the restaurant on the top of Kennedy Center and the James Galway concert following it; a glorious summer wedding; protest marches in the debilitating heat; my daughter’s graduation at GW, with droll Bob Dole as the guest speaker; and perhaps most of all, a family at-home Thanksgiving dinner, followed by a tearful visit to Arlington National Cemetary on a crisp and sunny fall day. And the city itself, with all its embassies and ethnic restaurants and festivals – has a buzz and a sophistication you won’t find anywhere else in the US except for NYC.
Yes, I have a lifetime of treasured memories of Washington, DC – you have a nasty heart full of spite, bile, greed and hate.
I love my country, and the principles upon which it was founded. We have lost our way of late, and many people here and in other countries are suffering, thanks to greedy, selfish, war-mongering fools like you, Don Young. Why don’t you do the world a favor, count your ill-gotten gains and just slink off into anonymity?

In looking at the video I did wonder if Botox like ice expands when it freezes or if she just gives herself home booster shots.
Some day so one will write their disertation on whether botox lips especially in very red lipstick are supposed to indicate the wearer has just been slapped aroung real hard of if she really wants her mouth to look like a part of the female anatomy that she cannot legally hang out in public.

Either way my opinion is its is 1) insulting to all women and 2) Ewuuuu. Gag a maggot and 3) lawsy sakes, yo shore are dis-pah-rate honey.

What a strange, twisted marriage and family dynamic must have existed for Young, Lu and his kids. I wonder: Was it alright to be racist to everyone EXCEPT Alaska Natives?

I don’t really want to hear the tormented answer to that question. I just want his hoary, crypt-keeper, racist claws pried off the Alaska Congressional seat once and for all.

    DropDon.com (http://www.dropdon.com/?p=32)….

Commenting on the controversy relating to the homoerotic art of Robert Mapplethorpe, Young used the word butt-f**king before a Fairbanks high school assembly in the spring of 1995. Young told the students that he opposed federal funding for any art that portrayed people doing offensive things. Pressed for an example by an inquisitive student, Young quickly answered, Butt-f**king. [Anchorage Daily News, 4/23/1995]

In defending his words, Young said he was just trying to educate high school students and that his answer would have lacked impact if he had used milder words.

The newspaper reported: As the meeting closed, Young addressed students who might have been offended. “I don’t apologize. You’re all adults, and if you have to ask the questions, I’m going to answer them.”

Teachers and administrators called Young’s language inappropriate.
