Struggling actor youngest son was working a temp job in a Finance firm yesterday in NYC. He enjoyed the grumbling of the Repubs in the firm. He kept his mouth shut until one asked he what he though and he said, “I know I’ll get health insurance now.” And smiled. He had a wonderful time.

  15. 17

I may just lose some Facebook friends over healthcare :( Look at what one of them wrote as her status. (this person is from NC)

“It is amazingly easy to support something that other people have to pay for.”

And I just want to write back that everyone is ALREADY paying. And not everybody is benefiting! My own brother made some comment about having a hard time eating because of health care being shoved down his throat. My response? “Does it taste a lot like 2 wars?” Also, I mentioned how lucky he is that he has insurance. He’s my brother. We grew up arguing. This time, I’ll win.

People have been bamboozled and lied to and misinformed about this new bill so badly that it makes me question their motives for humanity itself. I just do NOT understand why they would have a problem with me having health insurance. And that will be my question to them if it ever comes up.

Then I’ll ask them why they don’t want me to have the right to get married, while I’m at it! LOL…. just kidding. I’m not that brave!

I’m frustrated with people like Elisabeth (The View) who keep spouting polls that say how many people are against this bill but not clarifying that some of those people don’t think this bill goes far enough. Somebody (i think Shuster? ) on MSNBC broke the poll down more. So between the people for it and want it to go further it is a majority that want HCR, but not a lot of people elaborate on it including the MSM

    It is very inspiring.

Now on to talking about those who have tried in the past and that this bill is about all of them too. Roosevelt and the Clintons, other are mentioned.

Just watched the bill signing, and did a remote drive-by to Fox; they’re grasping at straws trying to find something negative to say about it. They’re focusing on how 13 States are considering suing the federal government claiming the bill is forcing americans to buy insurance, and penalizing them if they don’t.

To me, this is such a non-issue. Most responsible families WANT health insurance for themselves and their loved ones, their children. I would bet there is a small percentage of people who refuse to buy insurance. Whoever these would be, it might be homeless, unemployed, maybe college students, etc. But again, Fox News doesn’t have much of a case against this bill, and they scrape the bottom of the barrel looking for anything to berate it.

They’re such sore losers. It’s so obvious.

It seems that your Governor Parnell is jumping on the bandwagon of suing the “feds” over the idea that mandated health care is unconstitutional.

My friend at Huff Po says it best:

Tom Joad Commented 56 minutes ago

“There was a discourse on this on NPR this a.m. The state
    lawsuits are frivolous.

If the law is deemed Constitutional, it
overrides state law and the states MUST comply.

    If the law is
deemed unconstitutional, the state lawsuits are irrelevant as
    the law will be stricken.

    It is a monumental misappropriation
of state resources to file these suits.

    The citizens of the
states should object vehemently, but in the states where this
is happening, they are too ill-educated to understand how our
    constitutional government works.

    This is being pushed
exclusively by right-wing ideologues, who really don’t care
about the people or the states or the federal government or the
    constitution.”

Interesting discussion on five thirty eight yesterday. Bill will have a federal “tax” on everyone that will eventually go up to 2.5% for those who can afford insurance and don’t buy it. Those who have insurance through employer or buy insurance through exchange will be exempt from the tax. This is the way that the federal government can enforce the mandate. Of course, the idea of a new tax is distasteful to most of us. Someone wrote that it could be considered a self insurance tax. If you want to forgo insurance coverage because you think you can pay medical expenses yourself you will be taxed on that gamble.

“A former staffer, and you’re calling it credible?” Issa said. “We have an obligation to vote, at the end of the day, based on whether we believe it’s the right direction, the wrong direction, not withstanding some former Bush staffer. Remember, President Bush was the administration that got us voted out of office. They were the big spenders. I’ve been reading about the possibility that the Discovery Channel is about to sign Sarah to do a reality show where she shows off the natural wonders of Alaska, at a million dollars or more a show. If I were an Alaskan citizen, I would be royally p*ssed. That was her job as governor! I even received (though I can’t imagine why) a colorful brochure promoting Alaska as a vacation destination and cheerfully signed “Sarah.” So, she quit her job which was to promote Alaska to make money by promoting Alaska. I wish that there was an ethics violation there.

For Discovery Channel to choose someone who had so little regard for the environment, doesn’t see climate change as a real problem, shoots wolves from airplanes and showed a real disregard for people whose lives were impacted by ice or a poor salmon catch …it’s a crying shame!

Palin is so… yesterday to me today. She just gets uglier, screechier and stupider by the week. She brings attention to her declining looks with a million changes in hair dos, weird clothes, stupid makeup – I am not a catty person and never make comments on looks. What’s so lame about Palin is that SHE has made it all about her looks, and so like driving by a bad car accident, you can’t help but stop to glance. And she does it so poorly, so without class, so randomly that it hurts the eyes.

I’ve heard everyone talking about wigs and falling out hair, and I don’t believe any of it. The rill story is that her hair gets big when the snakes get all riled up and can’t be contained. Rilly, rilly!

Haven’t read all the comments, and someone may have mentioned this already, so sorry. The child is Marcelas Owens from Seattle. A few weeks ago, he went to Washington DC with his grandmother and spoke about the need for health care reform. He is 11. His mother had a job and insurance, got sick, missed a lot of work, lost her job and insurance. Because she couldn’t get insurance, she didn’t get the kind of health care she needed and she died three years ago. This is one really neat kid. I was so happy to see him there at the signing. I was so disgusted and outraged yesterday when I learned that the Washington state AG is joining in that law suit, saying that he’s standing up for all the WA state citizens who don’t like the bill. I’m not sure how it will play out. He apparently made that decision on his own without even talking to the governor first, or anyone else. I sent an email immediately telling him that I thought it was the wrong thing to do, he certainly isn’t speaking for me, and assuring him that when he’s up for re-election, I will be working for his opponent.

I’m still angry about it. I hope that bit of insanity gets thrown out quickly. But it’s probably going to end up costing the tax-payers a lot of money. I’m not sure how that sort of thing works when the AGs sue the government. I know there was a law suit between Kansas and Colorado over water rights that drug on for years, before Kansas finally won.

(I’m reposting this here so more folks see it, pass it on please)

Now this is what needs to get out to the media and American public to prove the Repubs are WRONG about the majority not wanting reform, a 1000 person of all age standing O over it, in Arkansas of all places.

Plus, all sorts of good things are going to kick in before the Nov. elections, so fat chance the Repubs hot air will get them anywhere except lining their own fundraising pockets as long as they can by mongering. McCain sent out a letter asking for $ in order to ‘fight’. Probably all the Repubs did, taking advantage of anger.

Rachel goes over it, this is good, please pass it around! Can videos be put on facebook?

Aw shucks! You beat me to it. I just finished reading that excellent blog with incredible footnotes as well as all the comments. It really should be posted far and wide.

@39 R’ip: I’ve always kinda liked that pen tradition, but maybe a different approach would be better when it’s being shown in real time.

And here I always thought they were supposed to vote for us or the majority not for themselves.Shows where the party of no stands and it is not with the people who elected them. This shows they vote for their own policies. The are unacceptable

Here is an excellent petition to sign about the hateful things that went on this weekend and how the Repos have done nothing to stop it.

AKM…. I just finished listening to Shannyn’s Show and she said she would be at the Assembly Meeting tonight.
I’m sure you will make an attempt to be there as well. The two of you should sit together and compare notes. The two of you make everything FUN.

And bring your little YouTube camera thingy as well. Maybe you can catch Sully in a ‘ Nixon moment ‘…… ” I am not a Crook “.
He has that Nixon look to him in his pictures.
Does Sully record his Office conversations as well… also, too…?

AKM, I just LOVE your orange pics! Looks so much like spring, and we’re a few months off yet …….

And, oh yeah — keep those crazy critter avatars! They’re perfect!

BIG THANKS to all of you who expressed concern about the four wolves recently killed near here in Yukon-Charley National Preserve.

There was indeed a meeting last night in Eagle. I could not attend due to work, but I did talk, both before and after, with a City Council member who attended. She taped it, and I believe there will be follow-ups in the news. Specifically, I think Alaska Dispatch might have some good info coming up.

Just wanted to give you a little update.

SMR, tell your girl big thanks for her interest in the subject, and I hope she changes some minds! Good for her.
