Palin Can Now Add “Fake Interviewer” to Her Growing Resume.

tweeet LL CoolJ

Sarah Palin’s “other” TV show is already plagued with scandal.  I’m shocked.  Shocked, I say.

Her Foxumentary “Real American Stories” is…. wait for it… fake.

The show was touted as Sarah Palin interviewing celebrities including Toby Keith, Jack Welch (formerly of GE), and rapper LL Cool J.   The show debuts tomorrow.

Only one problem.  LL Cool J had no idea he was going to be “interviewed” by Palin.  Apparently the interview was recycled from an old one he gave back in 2008 to someone who was not Sarah Palin.  Mr. J, who never gave permission for the interview to be used, discovered the network’s intent yesterday.  You can imagine his horror.

Thanks to the miracle of Twitter, he managed to send out an SOS to the progressive Twittersphere - writing last night “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW”

Uh oh.  A public relations disaster surrounding Sarah Palin?  Say it ain’t so!

We are all left to speculate, of course, why exactly this happened.  Could they not find anyone who wanted to be interviewed?  Will we be treated to fake Toby Keith and fake Jack Welch?  Has Sarah been reduced to the role of “our narrator” because of her lack of interviewing skills?  Did she tape this in her garage in Wasilla so they could just plug her in when necessary? Or will the FOX Network pull the Hail Mary of all excuses when the show debuts… April Fool’s!

TVNewser got the following response from Fox News about the Tweet of death from LL Cool J.

TVNewser:  “Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”

In other words, Mr. J…if you don’t let FOX use your moving and inspirational story to make other people feel good and prop up Sarah Palin, you’re a LOSER.

Ouch.

Hey, we were wondering what ever happened to Meg Stapleton!  Sounds like she may have landed at Fox.  Or at the very least, she’s giving them lessons on how to write using snake venom.

I don’t think Mr. Smith has a problem being associated with inspiration.  Perhaps he has a problem being associated with Sarah Palin.  Just a guess.

So now, Palin can add “Fake Interviewer” to her resume, right under Gas Commission Quitter, Half-Governor, Pretend Foreign Policy Expert, Unqualified National Candidate and Fake Author.

LL Cool J summed it up best.  WOW.

Update: If you haven’t quite yet recovered from your previous shock that Sarah Palin would be engaging in fake interviewing, you may need to sit down… This just in about her interview with Toby Keith:

“Toby was not asked to participate nor has he ever done an interview with Sarah Palin,” his spokesperson said.

Maybe this show is fall out for her TLC show, something to fall back on if the outcry is too loud and TLC either drops it or doesn’t expect high ratings. Once again Sarah is being given a soft place to fall and she will again cry victim. Fox is really the only channel that would take her. OK maybe CNN since they are becoming more like Fox everyday. Just my two cents.

It would be amazing if it weren’t so common these days to hear about something faked, phony, or misleading as regards Sarah Palin. Like begets like in this case.

I bet few mudpuppies will be watching her narration of reruns. If she does manage to corner someone to interview, I have absolutely no doubt we will be able to see the best parts on comedy clips.

This woman has no shame about having no talent and little intellect. If I were her mother, I would be so deeply ashamed that I would not venture out in public or be able to look in the mirror knowing I had given birth and raised such a vacuous, destructive child.

If I were on of Sarah’s children, I would get away from and stay away from as soon as I reached the age of majority. I hope hers are not so gullible as to think she will actually share her millions with them – particularly once her star starts its inevitable decline.

Shameless Sarah. Anything for a buck.

Not that it matters to anyone else, but allow me to correct it:

If I were one of Sarah’s children, I would get away from and stay away from her as soon as I reached the age of majority. I hope her children are not so gullible as to think . . . .

My goodness, to knock Sarah about her lack of intellect and then to make so many errors — my face is now the color of the photo posted earlier today.

Also too…..apparently, words have no meaning now, except what you attach to them to achieve whatever purpose you want.

    For example:

    - “Reload” = get out the vote!
    - “Take them out” = voice your opinion!
    - “Interview” = promote other people’s interviews as your own interviews

So in honor of words not meaning anything anymore other than what I WANT them to mean, I say this:

“Poodles apples running under over abundantly excessive ACORN”

In other words: “I’m off to lunch, be back soon!”

What? Why you looking at me like I’m crazy???

This show was conceived when the deal was signed last … whenever the heck it was, last year or 18 months ago. I’m surprised to see it airing so soon, since SP has been very busy and has not had time to work on a show. We now have proof positive that she has not ‘worked’ on it.

I don’t think watching a clipping together of old footage is very inspiring. Especially when it is trying to bolster SP’s credentials, which it of course will not to anyone who has a scintilla of discrimination in matters of the media.

I will not be watching. No interest, no cable, and I’ll be in the last part of the last act of Miss Saigon which is far more entertaining, artistic, and deep than SP could ever, ever hope to be. Has a deeper, hard-hitting message about war and the effects of war far beyond what SP is able to comprehend.

The problem is their own advertising is misleading because it names these people as being her ‘guests’. They are deliberately trying to make you think SP will be interviewing these people. Even if they label everything clearly during the show, they’re suckering people in.

Hopefully people will only be suckered for the first one.

If I were an SP fan, I would actually be upset at Fox for not letting her do more on the program than read a teleprompter. In fact, I would start a campaign to demand she do interviews, without a teleprompter, because SP fans all know she does not need one. I would demand Fox respect her like the journalistic professional she is. By golly.

How professional of FoxNews to put out such a snarky, nasty response. Exactly what I would expect from the people who continue to promote Sarah Palin.

The truth is that they have Sarah “interviewing” a country singer (who wears his patriotism on the tip of his tongue) and an ex-CEO. They needed someone who would appeal to the unreal Americans among us. Who better than an African American actor. The only problem is that what African American actor (or singer or pretty much anything else) would get within 200 yards of Sarah?

Just when I think I can’t be surprised anymore by what Sarah Palin or Fox do, I am. Who in their right mind would think that fake interviews would be a good idea? Toby Keith is talking about his patriotic anthem ‘Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)’ on an upcoming FOX News special hosted by Sarah Palin, but his appearance on the TV show appears to be news to the singer himself.

“Toby was not asked to participate nor has he ever done an interview with Sarah Palin,” the superstar’s publicist tells PopEater. Footage of Toby talking about the song was taped back in 2008, as was an interview with actor/hip-hop star LL Cool J who expressed his surprise to his Twitter followers, saying, “Fox lifted an old interview I gave … to someone else and are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palin’s show.”

She does not give the impression she’s interested in anyone else. Never has, and they know it. This generic show, using a generic host, to do re-run interviews someone else did is hilarious. Does she know she’s being USED by Fox? They are using her as a “prop”, just like she uses people, to get the ratings, at the cost of making an absolute fool out of her.

Fox may be learning a little something now too. While the woman still represents rating gold, when left to her own devises she is a nightmare. Tune in, one and all! See the amazing Sarah Palin read a Teleprompter like no one has ever read a Teleprompter before!! Step right up! Never mind the men (and women) behind the curtain who actually made what you see, they are of no consequence. It is only The Great Sarah who has made this wondrous visage you see, that is, as long as you praise it.

If you criticize it, well, then, it wasn’t Sarah Palin’s idea, she had no control, she kept telling people her ideas and no one would listen to her or let her do them, the problem is that she was ‘too scripted’, they should have just let Sarah ‘be herself’…

All Fox has to do is film Sarah spewing out about 2-3 hours of word salad gibberish and then send her back to her room so she can eat her crunchwrap supremes in private.

Then, using that pool of tossed words the editing wizards at Fox can piece together fake interviews with unassuming celebrities. Heck, with this technique she can interview her self! At this point the universe will end as it implodes into a singularity as it simply can’t handle the possibility of two shrieking, shrewlike Palin voices babbling incoherent platitudes at each other.

blooper@46, I am certainly as over this gal as you are with your ‘colorful’ language, but I do not for one minute think she has the savvy (herself) to leverage celebrity appearances nor has the knack of knowing when they would be advantageous to her.

My scenario is: Murdoch negotiated a deal with Barnett (did I remember his name right, her book deal agent?) which included a Fox TV deal. It was probably multi-year and multimillion dollar altogether, and included a vague description of her duties on air (analyst, contributor, and host of series). I do remember the name “Real American Stories” coming out back when the deal was announced.

So now Fox has to produce this show as part of this agreement. And it seems they are trying to spend as little money on it as possible, using old footage, etc. So what does this tell you?

Fox Network doesn’t give a crap about this program, this is just a cheap vehicle for them to to satisfy the obligations of a contract I wish to God that they had never signed (and who knows? They may be thinking the same.)

Fox is guilty of believing their own publicity when it comes to Palin. They probably thought that anyone would be Thrilled to be on her program and get the publicity for it.

Too bad for them that some celebrities actually do care what their name is associated with.

I’m sure there will be others who either don’t care or won’t have a clue that some interview they gave years ago has been dug out of the achieves to be shown on the show.

It appears that neither LL Cool J or Toby Keith were even contacted to let their publicist Know that the tapes would be used. Legally, Fox might have to do that, but ethically, they darn well should.

Meanwhile the set people are recreating the backdrops for Palin and someone is putting the questions on a teleprompter so they at she asks the exact same ones that the original interviewer asked. The director is studying the old footage to make sure the cutaways happen in the correct spots.

And for what? To make Palin look legit?

Give it up. She’s a liar and a quitter. And now she is a cheater. And it isn’t just crib notes on the hand. You could construe this as plagiarism. She is copying the other interviewer. No original work of her own.

Why is Palin so popular? Is it so that the ignorant and uneducated can live in hope that they too could be a Governor, get a multimillion dollar book deal or become a media celebrity?

This is just a train wreck. No matter what they do now. She tanks if she attempts a live interview and she’s ridiculed if she uses the tapes.

And yes, it is a form of plagiarism. And yes, if *I* were the original interviewer I would be screaming too. Unless I’d been paid off or pressured to keep my mouth shut. But it won’t help. You can bet right now there are people combing YouTube looking for the original footage. Right after Palin’s show airs, the blogesphere will be burning with posts of the originals trying to beat everyone else to the punch.

Not a problem…for those who cannot restrain from their curiosity, watch it on youtube where the viewer tally won’t register…or watch any other show that I’m sure will cover it. Also, when I find out who the sponsors are, I will boycott them as well.

The really ironic (and karmic) aspect of this FOX debacle is that Palin’s “Real American” show was rolled out to correspond with the roll out of her Tea Bagger’s tour. Without a doubt, Rupert Murdoch and the others behind Palin’s political image thought they were damn near geniuses in this tandem promotion of her brand of politics: Palin, out on the highways and byways, screeching her demagogue’s tripe to “real Americans” while Palin, on screen, is holding court with “Real Americans.”

Yeah, pretty much blew up in their faces….as usual.

When are the geniuses at FOX ever going to learn that it’s a myth that Palin has been hampered by poor handlers! The American public caught on to the REAL Sarah Palin because of her gaffes, her jaw-dropping ignorance, and her divisive rhetoric. She exposed herself…..and the media reported it. She’s not a victim of the media….She’s a victim of her own limitations and hubris.

No amount of rebranding, repackaging, or spinning is going to make a silk purse out of a nasty little sow’s ear.

It kinda seems to me that this is more of a reflection of “who/what” FOX is, rather than Palin. (Well, except for that whole “birds of a feather” concept.)

It’s the network that promotes its own shows, and this network has proven just how it defines “fair and balanced” over and over again. This is just one more example of their willingness to do anything at all to get what they think they want.

my 2 cents worth, that’s all.

I’m sorry, but who in their right mind watches Fox?? I refuse to expose myself to their “fake news”??? Its not news its political drivel, they make it up as they go along. Take Glen Beck, (please), O’Reilly (again please) ad nauseam, it just figures they’d put scarah on the payroll. She fits right in, no credibility, political b.s., just posturing, sucking up, take the money and run. Just be sure you can keep the lst dude in a manner to which he is becoming accustomed. Is it true that the only duty of the mayor of Wasilla is signing payroll checks? If so that must have been a big challenge for her, did she print her name? Fox does not enjoy high rating numbers, they are far behind MSNBC and CNN. BTW whats the status of the Discovery channel exposing the country to scarah’s Alaska?

His well documented torrid affair with former Palin aid Ivy Frye would make him an ideal candidate.
Quinn’s crediblity is as good as the people at FOX.
AP booted him out of Alaska, then fired him so he came back for more.
Funny he got here just after Megan Stapleton stepped down.

As far as Palin on Fox news—I don’t understand how she can interview someone who is not present—–does one call that an interview?
If I was one of these persons that she is to “interview”, and I wasn’t asked to be on the show, I would sue all of them—-including Palin.
I never watch Fox News, but I am tempted to do so, just to see how much she fouls up. Maybe they could re-name the show—-”Comedy Central”.

I’ve tried to find something on the FOX TV web site about this show “Real American Stories”. I can’t find it anywhere. Is there an even remote possibiltiy that this is a FOX April fools joke? They gave it less than 24 hours notice, from what I could tell, it doesn’t show up on their web site, and just the whole thing looks like FOX’s idea of being funny. Just a thought.

ABC has a segment in their news casts called American Spirit that highlights individuals who overcome adversity. The difference is there is a real reporter doing a real interview. Guess this is Faux news way to try and make her look legit. Trouble is, it’s lazy and lame to just dust off old interviews and add a narrator with no new content. The whole thing is an epic fail. I’ll stick with American Spirit.

The “premier” of a new interview show typically has the biggest and brightest on board right out of the gate.

In Palin’s case, the premier of her show has, it seems, two fake interviews. Do we know if she interviewed ANY of the guests named in the promos?

    MysucreNo Gravatar says:

I went to the link and posted a comment but it never appeared. It looks like the site stopped accepting them sometime yesterday. Here is what I tried to post:

[…I am appalled that Fox News would stoop so low as to recycle old interviews without the guests’ permission and make the interviews appear as if Mrs. Palin was the interviewee. Not only does this upset me, but Fox’s response to Mr. Smith is unacceptable. Mr. Smith merely pointed out that he had no knowledge that his two year old interview would be on the show, nor had he ever spoken to Mrs. Palin. He did not say anything derogatory toward Fox or Palin, he simply pointed out that your network was misrepresenting THE TRUTH.

For you to imply Mr. Smith is anything but a true american or that he ‘didn’t want to be a part of something truely inspirational’ is dubious at best.

Shame on you Fox News! Shame on you Sarah Palin! I am a true american! I have many ‘real american stories’ but you ma’am will never represent me nor my family. We were taught that the true character of an individual is their actions not their words. I do not accept your forced perception of what a ‘true american’ should be. Your description is narrowly defined and inclusive, bigoted and full of hatred. You may say what you believe with a smile on your face, but the daggers in your eyes and your heart far outspeak your words.

Will Jack Welch’s interview be plumped up to fill in the empty spaces?
This is her “big debut” as a correspondent? hah Using her to introduce filler ??
Poor girl, even FOX won’t spend any money on a real show with real people in real time…what oh what could they be afraid of? Not making their money back? Exposing their wonder girl?
It just doesn’t get any better than this. I haven’t checked today, but yesterday the show was listed on the Direct TV guide.
Never has there been a more BWAHAHAHAHA moment.

Fox wishes LL Cool J “the best with his fledgling acting career?” The man has been in movies since 1998 and has a starring role in a major network television series. That’s hardly “fledgeling.” Not only did they call him a jerk for not wanting to “serve as an inspiration for others,” they insulted his acting skill.

    Dana in NYCNo Gravatar says:

F.Y.I. Toby Keith is a registered Democrat. A conservative Democrat but still a Democrat. I am sure that LL Cool Jay has no problem “serving as an inspiration for others”. Perhaps he’s unwilling to serve as a tool for the Fox network and a prop for Mrs. Palin. Especially without his consent and without proper compensation. LL Cool J’s “fledgling acting career” looks a lot better than Mrs. Palin’s fledgling journalism career. After all, he actually does the work he’s credited with doing. P.S. How do you Alaskans like Mrs. Palin’s stated desire to “own Alaska”?

FOX makes me want to listen to and watch everything LL Cool J has ever performed. :)

FOX is trying to spin that a Grammy award-winning performer and actor of 20 years (plus or minus) is a whiny fledgling (i.e. ignorable), not an accomplished, media-savvy artist … when just seconds before they had been using him as such to lead their show?

I had been assuming that FOX is not fooled by Mrs Palin; it’s just that the network thought it could handle her better than experienced political handlers …. but now I’m not so sure….
