Bachmann and Palin – The End is Near

I’m sitting here having coffee, working from home.  It’s pajama day.  I planned this all out because I knew I’d need a recovery day from Election Day yesterday.  So, all of a sudden I hear a rumble.  I knew exactly what it was.  It started way down the valley and it got progressively louder as it approached.  Like a fleet of trucks coming from a direction where there are no roads.

Earthquake.

Just like  a big gust of wind, it hit the house and I heard that noise that sounds like nothing else.  It’s the sound of everything in the house and every beam and piece of sheetrock, and piece of furniture shifting at the same time.  Then a bit of an up and down shaking, and then that was it.  Buf the dog who was sleeping, got up, walked to a different place and sat, looking at me.  Then she sighed.  Then she went back to sleep.

It could have been the fact that I live on the “Ring of Fire” and that a giant tectonic plate was sliding beneath another giant tectonic plate, and the subduction of one beneath the other causes these tremors of the Earth’s crust known as earthquakes…  or it could be that Sarah Palin is going to be occupying the same stage as Michele Bachmann at a GOP fundraiser in Minnesota today, and soon, giant steaming fissures will open in the ground, and the seas will rise, and tornadoes are soon to follow.

For those of you who are convinced that the latter scenario is true, I recommend heading for the storm cellar with enough water and food to last until the end of the day.  For the rest of you hardy souls – those of you who enjoy laughing in the face of doom – you can actually stream the event live at Michele Bachmann’s website HERE.  If you do intend to venture into that world, I recommend a pan of cool water and a cloth, forehead padding, and some kind of flask filled with dark amber liquid.

The Washington Post refers to this dynamic duo as the “two most influential Republican women.”  So on the off chance that there are any remaining Eisenhower Republicans out there who just haven’t gotten around to leaving the party to become Independents yet, this might be a good time to boot the “rogue elephant” out of your life and re-register.

What might we expect from todays event?

Palin famously argued last year that the president’s health-care plan would create “death panels,” a claim that has been widely debunked. And Bachmann recently declared, “I said I had very serious concerns that Barack Obama had anti-American views and now I look like Nostradamus.”

I’m no Nostradamus, but I predict there will be crazy sound bites in our future.

[Bachmann] cemented her place in the center of the conservative movement by personally calling for activists to come to Washington in November for an impromptu health-care event that turned a huge rally on Capitol Hill. Party leaders felt compelled to attend what she dubbed the “Super Bowl of Freedom.”

“Representative Bachmann is looked to by many in conservatives as the Sarah Palin of Capitol Hill,” said Ron Bonjean, a former top GOP aide on Capitol Hill. “She has demonstrated a unique ability to connect with and fire up tea party groups, especially during the health-care debate.”

Get ready for the “Stanley Cup of Screeching.”

Having the two of them together in the same place reminds me of the scene in Ghostbusters where it’s warned that the two streaming particle beams should not be co-mingled :

Dr. Egon Spengler: There’s something very important I forgot to tell you.
    Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don’t cross the streams.
    Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I’m a little fuzzy on the whole “good/bad” thing here. What do you mean, “bad”?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr. Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal!
Dr. Peter Venkman: That’s bad. Okay. All right, important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

Why do Americans lose the plot over socialism so quickly? Was Reagan such a huge influence that any kind of role the government has is instantly demonised?

And what IS IT with the gun thing?? Seriously. It boggles the mind. It took 1 massacre in Port Arthur, Tasmania for stricter gun control to be enacted in Australia but yet, with so many gun related deaths and mass killings – why is stricter gun control the commonsense solution?

I mean, fine, civillians can own guns (not sure for WHAT reason but ok…) but why is it SO BAD to make sure that people can’t just get a gun with no real background testing? That if they have a history of mental illness or criminal record etc etc, that they be banned from owning at the VERY least automatic weapons?? Instead we have people losing the plot over “open carry” rules?? I mean – who on earth wants to walk around carrying some kind of arsenal?? Why?? Are we expecting to be ambushed by guerilla terrorists on the train or something?

Please help a poor Aussie understand!

Today’s other big headline here in Minnesota (Land of 1 giant loon-atic and thousands of goofy ducks that can’t walk on water…really look it up!):

    “Tarryl Clark passes million-dollar mark”

Tarryl is a MN state senator who is running AGAINST our resident crazy lady. In honor of the circus going on in Minneapolis, I donated to Tarryl today. You can too at tarrylclark.com. Today SP proclaimed that Michelle “will lead efforts to replace the Democratic-backed federal health care overhaul.” Bachmann reportedly had more than $1M on hand before today’s event so Tarryl can certainly use everyone’s help. Certainly there are a few other Mudflatters willing to help us get rid of this clown. Thanks!

RE: Posts 40 and 53: about that drop dead comment? Forgot the comma, in order to be what we all want to say TO her: “Drop dead, ‘gorgeous’!” … Kinda like a Humphrey Bogart line…

Well, she didn’t look gorgeous…..she had her hair plastered over her ears in a school marmish look. Completely different to the biker chick look she had for John McCain when she grew her chest!

Well… the Wash. Post may describe SP as one of the most influential women but the writers at CBS don’t see her that way.
    { Did anyone see the show ” The Good Wife ” last night ..? }

SP seems to a regular topic of conversation and is worked into the story on a regular basis. As part of the ‘ story line ‘ last night the character Diane Lockhart ( blond female Partner in the Law Firm ) toward the end of the show called SP…..” the devil incarnate “.

There were 3 or 4 other mentions throughout last nights episode. All in a disparaging or mocking fashion.
I’m not Nostradamus either…..But I predict this will be a recurring ‘ mention ‘ of SP in future episodes by these CBS writers. They seem to really love dropping in these little snarky lines.
I couldn’t find anything on YouTube or the Googles about the Show. My search did turn up this snarky clip titled ” Sarah Palin Demon “.. this is Palin satire.
It suggests she made or has made a deal with the devil. Enjoy.( by 236. com)

Somebody has probably already done this but if Bachmann wants to look like Nostradamus that’s OK with me.

The other night on CSI some grabbed a gun away from some woman criminal and said,”Who do you tink you are? Sarah Palin.”

lovemydogs: I agree that the “gorgeous” comment was inappropriate and creepy (to put it mildly). But this was said by a woman who, in 2007, was so moved by her passions that she kissed the President on the lips. The W. Sloppily. Bleaaagh.
