” Washington scholars say there is simply no record of our first president ever invoking Jesus Christ or Christianity in his public pronouncements. He usually referred to the “Supreme Architect” of the Universe or some other deistic term. I suspect this is far removed from the God Palin wants government to invoke and support. ”

      from the link:

In his famous 1790 letter to Touro Synagogue, Washington assured the members of this Jewish congregation that their religious liberties would be secure in the new nation.

“The Citizens of the United States of America have a right to applaud themselves for having given to mankind examples of an enlarged and liberal policy: a policy worthy of imitation,” Washington wrote. “All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship. It is now no more that toleration is spoken of, as if it was by the indulgence of one class of people, that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent national gifts. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.”

Yes, it is disturbing that someone who knows so little has gone so far.

Good morning! What a great shot, fly. Thank you for making my morning happy. Still stuck inside because of the silly pollen. Wish we’d get some rain! Maybe by Thursday night. Spent most of yesterday frantically working on this computer because it developed some sort of gastric upset. Boy, thanks to google and different sites where people share knowledge, I think I performed an appendectomy or something. Whatever I did, we are back in business. My new computer comes next week, so I hope this one will poke along till then.

    Good morning mudpups and hushpups.

I have been wondering this for a while: Has anyone called out McSame for his remarks after the health care bill got passed? When he was on the campaign trail, he claimed that he had a history of reaching across the aisle to dems. Remember that? Then after the health care vote, he said we won’t see anymore cooperation from the republican party. Way to be a uniter! Just wondering if anyone has called him on it.

I got so mad last night I could spit nails. In Ohio, there is stimulus money available for an indepthstudy and future devlopment of a passenger rail system to link the 3 major Ohio cities. The controlling board voted along party lines (4 dems voted yes, 3 repubs voted no) to use the money available for the in depth study, but will need a super majority vote (5 to 2) in order for the project to use the rest of the stimulus money to build it. Ohio has been hit pretty hard by the economy and the rail project would create jobs. I am sick to death od all this partisan crapola!

Oh, and please excuse the typos, misspellings and such on my comments of late. I am having to do this from my cell because my laptop cooling fan needs it’s own health care plan. I’m to broke as yet to replace it AND this old gal needs some new glasses which I also can’t afford. So between the itty bitty type face on the screen, typing with my thumbs on an itty bitty key board, I’m looking more illiterate than usual. LOL

Can’t wait for the money to get here for the state to set up offices to assist people with applying for benefits, complaints or appeals regarding healthcare. I’m going to apply for one of those jobs. Then maybe I can finally return to a decent standard of living. The job I have now, in retail pays me the same as what I was getting for unemployment before that ran out.

So you might all get stuck reading my silly typos for a while yet. Sorry.

And jimzmum -@9 – kudos on the appendectomy. thank goodness you didn’t accidentally remove the funny bone!. We need that one these days.

Fly – great graphic, once again. I have a feeling Ernestine would have no trouble taking $P down a peg or five and I’d pay good money to see it .

Snos – I know it seems like a silly thing but I’m just lovin’ the numbers and the bold text on the names. Thanks again !!

Palin Makes a Good Character but not a Good Leader :

    http://www.lsureveille.com/opinion/nietzsche-is-dead-palin-makes-a-good-character-but-not-good-leader-1.2233124

*** Whatever your opinion about Palin, it’s impossible to deny she found a formula that interests America.

The reason is simple: She’s quite the character.

By that I mean she’s quite the fictional person. The smiling, good-old-fashioned hockey mom identical to every other suburban, freedom-loving American we see on television is a carefully constructed, elaborate ruse designed to milk every inch of publicity from a gullible public … “

Dems launch website mocking Harry Reid’s Republican opponent who suggests we should considering going back to bartering with our doctors for health care

    http://bit.ly/9uEUnS

*** Lowden, who wants to replace Harry Reid, said this:

“I’m telling you that this works. You know, before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say I’ll paint your house. I mean, that’s the old days of what people would do to get health care with your doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people. I’m not backing down from that system.” ***

      trisha08No Gravatar says:

      Wow…the stupidity is astounding.

Here doc….here is a chicken….now cure my sick child of cancer. Ya’ right. How about this…here doc….here is my house, my car, my bank account numbers, my 401K….now treat my child for cancer.

Even then, most doctors are NOT in private practice anymore. They work in clinics owned by the HMO’s, insurance companies, etc. It’s not their call to “take a chicken” for treating you. It’s up to the higher powers.

Man, he is out of touch with how the system works.

Buffgal – I laugh at this, but I also remember when my bro-in-law had a private law practice, he had some local farmers for whom he did routine legal work on the barter system. He had fresh eggs delivered to his office every week, frozen chickens and rabbits, canned berries and jellies in season, and healthy farm-raised beef every year.

Also remembering Doc Hollywood – just how many pigs can a Dr use?

    • 18.4
      MoonNo Gravatar says:

That made me laugh, too. In all honesty, I LOVE when my darling husband barter’s with his patients. My house is filled with arts and crafts from patients, and once he even brought home a motorcycle. Never any chickens or cows though.

      • 18.4.1
        BuffaloGalNo Gravatar says:

I’m actually a big fan of barter and love haggling with my clients. I barter advertising space for all sorts of things and it works out really well for everyone. ( I have open tabs at a few local restaurants and pubs. It’s a very nice deal !) I just wish this woman who is running against Reid had a better handle on the ins and outs of local bartering. She’s putting it out there so foolishly and making herself look like an idiot. Neighborhood doctors are not the norm anymore. You can’t just walk in to an HMO run clinic and pitch the barter idea. The fringe right seems absolutely clueless about the real world.

As my Gramma used to say …. ” She’s a big nidgit !”
