Mudflatter Alison was driving down a rural highway in southern Oregon, also known as “real America.” Ahead was a giant sign with a flag… And then, surprise!
First thing that came to mind was: They should have added “Oh My!” Good morning pups, It is the beginning of my weekend and I can not wait for Sarah Palin to rear her ugly head. She is overdue.
I understand, and you are nice. It just seems that every time I have a few days off Screech rears her ugly bumpit and keeps me tied to the computer for ages. I actually hope she goes into hybernation but tis not the season.
Coastal southern Oregon is a fabulous place. Hurray for them. That country goes north and south. I really appreciated you documentary about Sitka. Those outside have N CA, OR, WA. We have Alaska’s coastal rainforests. A matter of degrees? Thanx
We object! On behalf of The American Federation of Liars, Bigots and Morons, it is my job as vice president for Public Relations to lodge a formal complaint.
We liars, bigots and morons do not wish to be associated with the people named on your sign. We too have our standards. It is people like Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Glen Back who give us liars, bigots and morons a bad name.
May I respectfully request that you alter or remove your sign. If this is not done within 14 days from today’s date we will have no option but to refer the matter to our lawyer.
Hey,$arah, Real Americans speak Truth to Power.
Listen, Read, Think, and Learn.
Nah. She’d have to open her mind at least as much as those cracked doors she keeps plowing through.
Which will happen first? $arah takes advice, or BP et al cap the oil gusher, clean up their mess, and make folks whole again? Not holding my breath, that’s for true.
Off to earn my gold star for perfect attendance this week, and to get out there and learn something.
Then I get to hang out with Littlebird…dewberries to pick and cobbler to make and movies to watch and….
Have a fine Friday, all you friendly Flat’s folks.
I do love the simple joy of learning something new. A joy our dear Scarah will never know. She really is a role model, for exactly how NOT to live your life.
It’s drizzling outside here, one of those dreary, weary continuous dripping from the heavens that means my outdoor plans for the day are either on hold, or going to be very …soggy.
The above picture has made my day. Lovely day, lovely way to begin this newly brightened day.
We have had either rain or drips for over a week. Can’t get in the garden. Can’t go outside much. Can’t stand being inside. Hoping for at least a couple nice days so I can go play in the dirt/mud.
Oh- I will share with you too!
We have so much rain and wet here…
Everyone dashes out on dry days and tries to get all things done which can be jammed into a few short hours…
If , by some miracle, the dry lasts 3 days folks are starting to look exhausted
More than 3 days and they /we look haunted… the world is ending, sky is falling kind of haunted…
House painting is a multi month activity…
Gardening is an aquatic activity…
But we always share the sunny days!
With everyone!
I agree…and not just any one can garden in snorkel gear! That takes a Southeast Alaskan! Happy Friday to all wet or dry….And I want this sign in my front yard too!!

As a teacher in a city school district, one of the changes I sincerely hope that President Obama accomplishes during his term in office is creating a new respect for education, especially among minority students. Sadly, there has been an attitude in far too many young African-Americans, especially boys, that education is something to be mocked and avoided. After the election, I was so excited at the prospect of holding our President up for these kids to see as a role model who really did look like them and who came from challenging circumstances as so many of them do.
Fortunately, our city is comfortably blue despite being surrounded by a rather red county, and the right wing sneering at ‘edjumacayshun’ isn’t nearly as pervasive as it is in other parts of the country.
I, for one, enjoy listening to people who are smarter and better educated than I am because I may actually learn something. And I certainly want the people in charge of my government to be a LOT smarter than I am!
I can’t understand why anyone would want someone who is poorly educated to be in charge of this country. For me this is requirement number one. To learn about the world and how things work and interact before taking on this job is crucial. The office of the president should have educational requirements just like other “professional” positions have. The thought that $arah could be in this position, ignore advisors, and be able to respond based on emotions, fears and personal beliefs is truly scary. The comments she has made about President Obama indicate that she believes that he makes decisions independent of advisors. She is to be feared.
Heres a coffee mug..raised high..for the honest souls who created and placed that display! Here in my part of the Oregon landscapes..we seem to have a 50/50 split..between the view points. Educationally ..’slow going’ with most of the urbans here..sad to say. My weekend is heading out for the Washington state wilderness..to help with the extensions of a sons camp..building to create the oldcamp situations of our former family generations. A new addition though..a clives multram type..composting toilet. Oh the joy..as we make a lifestyle..more and more..off the grid. In a year..I am promised my owlery..in a catwalk between 3 trees..way UP..and over the spring. Sigh..happy weekend..to us all.
Good morning! It’s my day off and rain is in the forcast this morning. The ground is so wet it’s not funny. Walking around barefoot in the yard, I can feel the water splash. Oh well, most of my plants are happy. Last year I did some serious pruning on some of my rose bushes and I am astounded by the massive quantities of rose buds I have this year. One of the bushes has roses that are much darker than previous years. Not sure why that is. Any rose experts here?
Rerun, one of my cats, got out of the house Tuesday afternoon and I haven’t been able to find him. I think he is hunkered down some place because of the rain. I need the sun to come out so he can drag his big fanny back home. In the meantime, I keep standing on the porch and calling him. I’m sure my neighbors think I have lost my mind. They just see this batty lady on her front porch yelling “Rerun!”
I guess that would do it. I think these roses are far more beautiful. They are a lovely rich dark salmon color. The previous roses were kind of a washed out pink color. I think they are just stunning! I also have a rose bush in the back yard that I got last year that has laverder colored roses. This year I picked up two Peace rose bushes. Funny, all of a sudden I have turned into a rose bush collector or something and I don’t know much about them. We have a place nearby callled the Park of Roses (where I got married) that boasts a rather extensive collection of roses. It is tended by volunteer rose experts. I should probably go get me some learnin’ at that there place! LOL
If you think that’s funny, wait til you read this: Last night, I came home from work to discover my two younger cats, Sydney and Luna, had decided to retrieve my socks from the dirty clothes pile and baptise them in their water dish! Must have thought they had demons or something. LOL and EEWW!
that is beautiful. and so, so true. i think about palin more than is healthy, and what i was thinking this morning is that she has become a caricature of herself.
It’s a beautiful day in Chicago and Sarah Palin is no longer in town!! She brought thunder storms, lightning and massive rains to town and now that she has left, the sun is shining again!!
That sign is excellent and also goes to show that not everyone in this wonderful country is fooled by her.
I was listening to her shriek and bob and weave and point her skeletal fingers while proving she is running to be POTUS.
Who in the public will be stupid enough to get her the Republican nomination, and even think of giving her access to the codes for nukes? Insanity,.absolutely insanity.
I can see it now. $P at the podium. “Ya betcha, mission accomplished, We just nuked the Iranians back into the dark ages folks. I promised ya I’de start the end of days, and I did it. Yup. The end of the world is on us!!! I told ya God wanted me to be POTUS, and by gum, ya made it all come true!!!!”
thanks for that AKM. I’m so glad there are people like you in Alaska. After last night if I didn’t come here my opinion of Alaska would have sunk to an all time low. After that display on the senate floor yesterday I see that murkowski is as poor a representation of your state as winky. political corruption appears to be the Alaskan way. I know that it’s prevalent everywhere but Alaskan female politicians tend to be proud of it and wear it as a badge of honor. Next thing, I’ve been listening to the nitwit slamming the president since the “I guess a small town mayor” twaddle. I don’t like it, in fact I loathe it, but now she has decided to set her sights on Rachel. It enrages me that this know-nothing, classless shyster has the audacity to say h8ful things about either one of these people.
It prompts me to continue to tell everyone I know, regardless of their political persuasion, of the lack of character this pos displays. If it angers them so be it. I was somewhat encouraged after a recent visit to visit in-laws in western NY that as hard-core republican as they all are, they have faced the fact that she is a joke on an international level with nothing to offer to the conversation.
Good Morning….Love it…Want one…good way to end the week…Beautiful here in N. Ca. this morning..no wind..yea, have a humming bird trying to cone thru a window..hmmm better fillthe bottle up….Have a grt. wknd Pups….
Saw the Olbermann segment of Worst Persons where Palin takes a jab at Maddow and MSNBC.
She’s such a fool to everyone but the most blind. It’s pretty stupid to make fun of Rachel for being passionate about the topics she covers on her show when the people at your rallies hold up racist signs and fax disgusting death threats to politicians who criticise you. Talk about vein popping! Plus – once again Palin resorts to childish taunts because she has NOTHING of substance to counter the FACTS that Rachel Maddow presents night after night on her show.
Once again Palin shows her hypocrisy:
passion for issues and “the cause” by Conservatives = PATRIOTISM & FREEDOM loving etc etc…….passion for issues from liberals/progressives/Democrats = something to poke fun at and probably un-American.
Lastly – Palin IS a coward. Not only will she not go on MSNBC, she won’t answer questions from the press, full stop. No questions ever! Oh, except ones that are pre-screened and softball. Those she will HAPPILY answer. She won’t ever set out any policy detail or substantive reasoning for her positions because there are NONE. Not one.
Oh wait, except for:
“I support XYZ and think that ABC should be the way of the future because XYZ paid me $100,000 and my first class travel expense to say that, thanks very much. Freedom! Yay! USA! Yay! Liberty! The Constitution! Real America!”
What a lovely sign. Nicely appropriated by two trees. Carefully crafted with two pulleys and line. Beautiful barn as background and of course our Red, White and Blue!
So I was in McCain country and golly, people think $carah Palin is a joke.
While having a nice rest along Verde River, a couple spoke about her inability to see the light and wondered why no one hasn’t hit her over the head with a bible… just to knock a few brain cells loose.
When purchasing a few fresh veggies and fruit, I pulled out my credit card and ID.
The very young clerk looked at my ID and asked if I believed anything that comes out of $carah’s mouth?
I told the young women to always honor and cherrish any oath of office she swears upon. She looked at me and smiled. … …
The young clerk’s dad came over and asked what was the hold up. I just looked at him and said his young daughter will not have problem honoring any oath of office, given the opportunity.
To make a long story short… I was invited to a pre graduation celebration right behind the veggie stand! Oh my, this was a joy, having traveled and traveled. This family had 4 kids in highschool and one was graduating, soon to head off to college. I could practically feel and hear their bittersweet tears over this wonderful event…
I left them with a open invite to my little farm in the Mat Su Valley. They are pleased and relieved to know Alaskan’s are hard working, fun loving families.
With the national image, that Palin is spreading around, they really did question other Alaskans. This Verde Valley farmer just couldn’t trust her.
And because of McCain’s choice, the parents of this family are no longer Republicans.
Life is good mudpups… Life is good…
You all have a safe and fun-loving weekend.
I need more these kinds of stories. Some days it seems like the dark cloud of Palin evil just hovers over us all. It’s like this malignant presence that just doesn’t go away and when I see people from my own state cheer her, it is so discouraging.
Every word out of her mouth is about rebellion, fighting, division, defying authority. I am SO SICK of her getting away with it. Will we ever be free of this evil?
Swell. I love this story. You know that poll that came out recently that asked Alaskans if they would vote for SP should she run for President (and “only” 41% said yes – I think these are the Alaskans who think if they vote for her for prez, she will leave AK alone for good) : I think the real telling poll should be to ask Alaskans if they would vote for her for Governor of AK should she ever run again? Bwahahahahahaha. I don’t think anywhere near 41% would respond in the affirmative, do you?
i read your story…then reread it..it is wonderful. thank you. as i travel around, here and there. i am so grateful to meet some really grand, kind and considerate people. that is why when the so-called media continues to uphold and report on the ugly and unkind ‘merikkkans among us it makes me angry.
In a report highlighting her speech in Michigan, Palin shows her stupidity and proves that she knows nothing about the world:
” Palin characterized the health care overhaul — referred by her several times as “Obamacare” — as a $2.3 trillion European-style health care scheme, and a government takeover.
“In Europe, socialism is collapsing,” she said. “Europeans thought they could have their cake and eat it, too. In Europe, work has become an option, not a requirement.
“Our president is still marching us toward European socialism ideas and national insolvency. … Like Europe, Obama thinks bills pay for themselves.”
Europe is not socialistic! Europe is not collapsing! Greece is a major problem but it represents a tiny part of the EU! And no European that I know thought that “they could have their cake and eat it too”. And sorry Sarah, work is not “an option” in Europe!
Oh how I hate that lying uninformed woman! European leaders should deny her access to their countries!
Shouldn’t the US promote a ‘truth in politics’ law similar to the ‘truth in advertising’ law?
me thinks that she thinks her audience is made up of non-readers like herself and she can throw anything out there and they will bite…oh wait, dot dot dot
Well, you know she came by that impressively in-depth understanding of European politics and economics during all the years she spent travelling and studying in Europe, right?
You remember…when she won a Rhodes Scholarship and studied in Oxford.
Oh never mind, that was Rachel Maddow.
Palin…yeah, she was the one who couldn’t hack a semester in Hawaii because of all them furriners.
I just read her piece…thanks for posting the link. Sarah Palin is a dangerous, self absorbed and delusional woman who will encourage her followers to violence and even sedition then bat her eyes and claim innocence.
Beautiful sign! Any mudpuppies in NYC and environs, this is an invitation to a meetup/mashup from hero Congressman Anthony Weiner (not my district, but I’ll be there to share the love):
Ok, let’s do this thing!
Join me for our first ever Meet Up Mash Up in New York, on Monday, May 17th from 6 PM – 8 PM at Grassroots Tavern, 20 St. Marks Place, between 2nd Ave and 3rd Ave.
It’s a dive bar, not my usual type of hangout, but I’ll be honored to attend. Hope to see some of you there; we’ve all been invited to invite others. Happy Friday, and good weekend. Health and peace.
Love me some Anthony Weiner!!! I’m on the other end of the state, but still like to take a tiny bit of credit for being part of the same state he represents!
Single Source Speakers’ flagship client Bristol Palin got Americans talking about teenage pregnancy during the 2008 presidential campaign. Today, she is a proud mom to son, Tripp, and a Teen Ambassador for Candie’s Foundation. Bristol recently appeared on the ABC drama, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and is writing her first book.
I’ll have more to say about this later, but I did nip over to the SSS’s website and found this in “Infrequently Asked Questions”:
“Will a speaker guarantee to raise a certain amount of money for my organization?
No. They will guarantee you a top-notch presentation that will inspire most attendees.”
Sounds like Bristol might breech her contract, depending on how one defines “inspire”, “most” and especially “top-notch”.
Love the sign. And it’s refreshing that it’s in Oregon. Somewhere along I-5 on our way to Eugene we always see the “real American” kind of sign. It’s been there for years and I try to not think about it too long. I’d rather see this one as we drive by, but I probably won’t – it looks more rural than the I-5 corridor.
You’re thinking of the Hamilton Farms sign, I think, south of Centralia. Mr Hamilton had the sign a little farther north for years, and though I hated his sentiments, he was at least clever – puns, twists of phrase, etc. Often interesting, if only for devil’s advocate purposes. His son maintains the billboard now, and his birther-ish, deather-ish, mis-aimed rants are neither clever nor interesting.
*sigh*
where have all the good conservatives gone? come out, come out, where ever you are!
I think when we become a country that complains about anything and everything AND don’t bother to come up actual workable solutions TOGETHER – then I think we are headed for even bigger disaster.
Enough with the partisan fighting – I want our elected officials to work together to help us ALL.
It is utterly overwhelming to contemplate how much the Bush43 presidency has damaged our country…
Sorry if this is a redundant link.
U.S. Said To Allow Drilling Without Needed Permits
The Minerals Management Service, or M.M.S., also routinely overruled its staff biologists and engineers who raised concerns about the safety and the environmental impact of certain drilling proposals in the gulf and in Alaska, according to a half-dozen current and former agency scientists.
Those scientists said they were also regularly pressured by agency officials to change the findings of their internal studies if they predicted that an accident was likely to occur or if wildlife might be harmed.
[...]
‘M.M.S. has given up any pretense of regulating the offshore oil industry,’ said Kierán Suckling, director of the Center for Biological Diversity, an environmental advocacy group in Tucson, which filed notice of intent to sue the agency over its noncompliance with federal law concerning endangered species. ‘The agency seems to think its mission is to help the oil industry evade environmental laws.’
Obama has been President for 1.5 years. The Center of Biological Diversity is suing Obama’s Secretary of the Interior, Salazar for approving 300 offshore drilling permits with environmental wavers.
This is too important to give Obama a pass on when he clearly has been on the wrong side of the issue and his Secretary of Interior continues to approve offshore drilling, while there is no solution or end to the current disaster in the Gulf.
Shell just got the green like to drill in the Arctic Seas. BP just got another permit to drill in the Gulf. How’s that Obama moratorium on offshore drilling workin’ for you? It isn’t!
I’m not a troll. I voted for Obama. However, even he said, we have to stay engaged and hold him accountable. Perhaps Obama can hold a press conference in which he and Murkowski explain how they would mitigate and clean up a leak or spill in the Chugiak of Beaufort Seas. And what equipment and personnel are in place to deal with such an event. If they are unwilling to do this, then perhaps no one should be drilling there.
Exactly. This is one of his weak spots, and I wish he would address it now. I also voted for him, and still believe in him and his vision, but this drilling business has got to stop. We can address his stance on nuclear and coal later, but offshore drilling has to be tabled now!
(((Wolfpack))) of course you are no troll. you are a little disappointed just now is all.
it’s all good. we will work with our president and call him out when we think he is wrong. it’s what he wants us to do..we just got to uplift him and help him when we can. that’s all. you know are a beloved pup. and you can rant whenever you want.
Dividing the country wasn’t enough for the Head Moron. She is now working on dividing the high school in Illinois that was not going to Arizonia for the tournament. She is trying to raise money ( I guess she doesn’t have enough) and is trying to get the team to defy their school and go to Az..
Maybe she can get a private plane and some bendy straws for the whole team! I hope the students and their parents tell her where to go and mind her own business.
I teach in a rural, all white middle school in PA. My students are learning about the Holocaust. Today, we were discussing the many laws enacted by Nazi Germany to deny rights to Jews. One of my students said, “This sounds like that new law in Arizona.” This led to a lively discussion. One of the students brought up the Palin basketball team “fightin’ words” comment – she had heard it discussed as a positive thing at home. She said, “When I heard about it, I thought: Please don’t force that team to go to Arizona if there are Hispanics on the team..they would be a target.”
The young people are getting it!
Ms. Todd Palin has teamed up with Amy Jacobson (same ‘reporter/journalist’ that investigated a crook poolside at his home while in a bikini a few years back) to encourage the Highland Park IL girls’ basketball team to ‘go rogue’ against school district ruling (and parents?) for the December trip to AZ. Ms. Michael Sneed devoted an entire column to Sarah’s screechlings today. It should be noted that the Sun-Times’ Sneed vigorously supported Palin early on and seems to admire her pitbullishness. Illinois politicking is always interesting.
It is also interesting that Sarah appears to advocate the trip to AZ based on the girls bb team plans to go to China. As outraged as the idiot was about how China treats its girls, it did not prevent her from speaking for $$$$ as her first (closed to press) international speaking engagement. (aargh!)
Well, see (to use a GW Bush approach – see), the lesson she really wants the girls to learn is that you shouldn’t do something or go somewhere unless you get paid for it. Money rules in Sarah’s universe.
She’s obviously driven home that lesson to Bristol who is now going to go screeching around the country for screeches now and her own book tour later. She learned at her mama’s knee how to make money from her shame and how not to spend time with her own son.
So, girls of Illinois, remember Sister Sarah says: “don’t you go do nothing just to learn somethin’, you go do things for money. Oh, yeah, and remember to fight – don’t care what for – just fight your elders, authority, each other – don’t much matter. Oh, wait: fight for fame and fortune. Yeah, that’s it.”
“Real America” is not as stupid as the Ugly Bumpit will try and tell you. She carefully surrounds herself with “fans” and will not engage with anyone with brain power. Love this sign! Thanks for posting.
Just for fun – guess whose husband was the manager for BP in charge of testing the blow out preventers before he left his job to follow her on the campaign trail?
More words of wisdom from the victim. Poor me and my poor daughter, we are such victims of the media and culture. She said that the elites don’t even admit she is a woman. Please someone tell me what she is talking about, it is too hard to try to figure it out for my self. Any psychiatrists in the house?
And then there was this line, “she said some young women would see what happened to Bristol and perhaps be encouraged to seek an abortion instead of facing similar criticism.”
Huh?!? Wasn’t she speaking at a anti-abortion conference?
See what happened to Bristol and get an abortion? What bad things have happened to Bristol? Bristol is the one that keeps complaining about having a child, maybe that will make young women have an abortion! Oh yes, complaining while she holds her hand out for cash.New book title Bristol, “Complaining For Cash.”
Guys, as Rachel used to say, talk me down, I can’t handle it anymore. There is not an adjective in the English language to describe this family.
NO ONE criticized Bristol for her baby, NO ONE. That is a straw man she sets up just like her own….all that criticism for not aborting Trig….never happened.
B in Co…….I’m sure there must have been a psychiatrist or two at some point commenting on the ‘flats but i do believe they went nuts ’round about a year ago. Sarah drove them ’round the bend and across the bridge to nowhere….po little things. tsk tsk.
Maybe AKM could give us one day a week where we could just let loose. Use the words we used to use in high school. I think it would be highly theraputic, better then a spa day!
Just posted this letter elsewhere. ot sure if AKM allows, but this is from the High School Web site. It’s in reference to SP’s picking the Illinois High School basketball team issue. As of today’s date, the team has not been selected, so they are not qualified for ANY tournements. So PS is definitely sticking her nose where it does not, does not belong. I wish the best to these kids next year as their become a team and do the best that they can for the coming school year. May they qualify for a tournament or more.
Dear District 113 Parents, Students and Staff:
As you are aware, there has been significant media attention to Township High School District 113’s decision to not send the Highland Park High School varsity girls’ basketball team to a tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona scheduled for December, 2010. This decision is not a political statement regarding the State of Arizona’s recently enacted legislation regarding immigration.
Under long standing constitutional law, all school districts are required to provide an education to all children within the District’s borders regardless of immigration status. District 113 boasts a diverse student population and, as a school district, we believe in equal opportunity for each of our students. The selection of a girls’ varsity basketball team for the 2010-2011 winter athletic season will take place in November, 2010. The team has yet to be selected. When our students travel, the school district is responsible, both legally and ethically, for their safety, security and liberty. We cannot commit at this time to playing at a venue where some of our students’ safety or liberty might be placed at risk because of state immigration law. Our athletes will play in a competitive basketball tournament during their winter break.
Another important clarification relates to the misreporting that is present in some media outlets. The basketball team has not qualified for a national championship tournament. Rather, they were striving to find a venue for next season that would stretch them and serve to unify the group as a team. The protocol to take a trip within the US is to request approval from the Executive Council team. The Arizona travel request was submitted to Executive Council just two weeks ago. The request was denied for the reasons previously stated.
I believe it is important that our community members understand the facts of the situation. While I am sure that with a complex issue such as this, reasonable people can disagree on a decision, it is essential that the community understand that our primary motivation is to show care and concern for all of our students. Ensuring equality for all is a fundamental value for District 113.
Well, this answers a few questions I had, thank for posting!
So the school official is quoted as saying “Our athletes will play in a competitive basketball tournament during their winter break.”
But Sarah said, “”Them are fightin’ words when you say a girl can’t play in the basketball tournament … for political reasons …”
Except they didn’t say they couldn’t play in ANY basketball tournament, just that the one in AZ would pose possible safety and security concerns with the new laws there.
Sarah “our family isn’t about all the drama’ Palin decides to fight before finding out facts. You disagree with me? I lash out. I don’t bother to try to understand, I am right and you have wronged me. And I am nobody’s doormat, I will not be wronged, so fight, fight, fight!
Oh wait. You mean the team CAN actually go on a trip to play, getting the exact same educational experience, just in some state other than AZ?
Sarah, you need to learn, memorize, and use the phrase of the spunky and empassioned fictional but lovable character Emily Litella here:
This team has won nothing yet, qualified for no tournies. They want to enter a league which will allow them to go to a tournament out of state, but they don’t even pick the team until Nov 2010.
Have you noticed that Sarah Palin never gives a positive speech? She always has to pick fights, stir things up, try to get people riled-up against each other?
She seems to thrive on hate, mistrust, anger. I think she is incapable of giving a speech with a totally positive message with solutions to problems. Perhaps it is because she is intellectually incapable of understanding what the problems are, but I suspect it is more that she is so full of self-hate, of anger herself that she is driven to project it on others.
I applaud that Executive Council for its decision and the School Board for trying to explain the facts around this Palin hyped-up “controversy.” Sarah just saw an opportunity to use her “just like you” basketball player’s profile to get people to ignore the real problem: Arizona’s racist law. A smoke and mirrors ploy: oh, look, the problem is denying young girls their hard-earned chance to compete instead of oh, look some of those girls might be caught and deported or at least harassed because of that AZ law.
Thanks 10catsinMD for sharing that statement with us. It sure shames Sarah.
It’s as if she is constantly PMS’ing. We women have all been there, when it feels really good to be combative and pissy? She’s like that all the time. It must be physically exhausting to be pissed off all the time.
Can you say menopause? I remember myself at that age, screaming like a fishwife at the most trivial things. On the other hand, I am not a lifelong liar and idiot, so maybe hormones have little to do with it. To quote Emily Litella, “Never mind.”
When I heard the news on the radio after her speech, I knew that there had to be SOMETHING amiss. I knew that there had to be something she was either omitting, didn’t know about or misrepresenting.
Can you imagine bringing students to an athletic competition and taking the risk that some of them might be harassed and/or deported??? Yikes…that could give anyone nightmares!
I have had this question running around my brain for over a year: why didn’t Palin release her medical records during the Presidential campaign? She’s young and healthy, people older than she had no problem releasing their records. I would have no problem releasing mine. Even McCain, with his bout of cancer, released his. Releasing those documents is really very quick and easy. But in Sarah’s world nothing is really as it seems. What was she afraid might be made public?
I’m not suggesting that it had anything to do with the birth of Trig, (actually far from it and her doctor did reference his birth in the one and a half page review)..but I do wonder what she didn’t want people to see. All sorts of things run through my mind. If she runs for President, will she be more forthcoming or will she rely on that same old “note” from her doctor? I have a feeling that Ms Holier than thou might have had a simple procedure years ago that her fans would not like. She’s lied about so many other things, I think there are some interesting skeletons in the lady’s closest.
I don’t doubt she has skeletons. If she intends to run in 2012, all will be fair game. She can not expect to given a free pass. Oh no doubt Fox News will be happy to accomodate – but it will tarnish her credibility. How electable is someone who refuses to answer questions from all but the most friendly press?
It also occurred to me that Palin has Obama Derangement Syndrome =) She seems determined to outdo the President. She’s publishing a second book to rival his 2 time turn at authorship, she gives speech after speech after speech like her life depends on it (ok, well, it does) and she inserts herself into every issue there is, in season or out of season. And now I hear that if she were to run in 2012, she would launch her bid from IL. Same as the President.
You know, her insane jealousy of the President just might be the ticket to bringing her down. I can only HOPE.
I wonder if there are mental health problems in her records. That, to me, would be even more serious than a Trig controversy.
I mean, we all think she is crazy, but if her records show a diagnosis or treatment for instability, then that could disqualify her for holding a high office.
Not that I think mental illness isn’t treatable and should be something to be ashamed of – but, really, having a President who might have to take drugs to stay reasonably sane would be unacceptable for most of us.
Her increasing irrational behavior has made me consider this possibility as a plausible reason for hiding her medical records. Just saying it is a possibility.
I don’t think there are any records because neither she, her husband, her parents, her parent-in-laws, or her children have ever seen a mental health professional, in my opinion.
Even though they need family therapy badly, to admit it is to show weakness, and we all know that that is never allowed.
So, like someone carrying a communicable disease, they go spreading it around, oblivious to the damage they are doing. It is, and will continue to be, affecting the lives of the completely innocent Trig and Tripp. The choices their mothers and fathers make now affect their possibilities for the future.
Just as their parents (Todd and Sarah’s) shaped their characters.
My feeling is that admitting you need therapy of any kind SP views as being “UnAlaskan” if not “UnAmerican”, and certainly it labels you as ‘weak’. Therefore, not allowed. Even though with her being Gov., and a new baby with Down Syndrome, and then running for VP of the US, why on Earth would anyone think she would not want a competent mental health professional to talk to, who would, by law, not be able to disclose any of the things she said?
We have zero evidence that SP or any of her family have ever used a mental health professional, and in fact (galls me no end), there is scant evidence that Trig has gotten the benefit of professional physical therapists, which they could most certainly have afforded.
My husband’s (older) sister had Down Syndrome. I think of everything his mom and the family did, and know that had their financial situation been anywhere close to what the Palin’s earned (even pre-quitting) that she could have afforded lots of things to make both their lives (mom & daughter) easier and better.
So when someone has the money but does not choose to use it …
I think what was released was a one-page summary. Could be wrong. Maybe AKM or another mudpup will help us out with this.
What I remember is a big flap because it was just a once-over lightly summation aimed at saying she was healthy, was the mother of all her children, that sort of thing.
It was so superficial that it didn’t even include her two miscarriages in her history of noteworthy medical events – only her full-term deliveries. It was as much a sham as her resume, and was released the day before the election.
It could be anything, including being prescribed a simple anti-depressant after child birth. Whatever it is, she sure doesn’t want anyone to know about it.
Great flag, I want one, we should add Lisa Murkowski to complete the unholy configuration. She represents the greedy selfish ring of this group. I really disgusted with the crap these people seem to think represents Americans. They all gotta go.

“Sarah Palin will announce her presidential bid in Obama’s home state on Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday (2/6/11), according to Conservatives4Palin’s analysis.” —–
This could be a good thing. Once she declares, she has to open up and answer all questions! All her financial, medical and real estate records are going to be fair game. Wonder how that tax-dodging is going to play?
The Pee Zoo are a band of nutters who worship all things Palin, thinks she should be
made dictator and couldn’t analyze their way out of a paper bag. I wouldn’t put much faith in ANYTHING they spout. Actually it would make Sarah look like a lunatic more than ever. She has no ties to Illinois (except for the president she’s stalking). I’m pretty sure Nancy Reagan despises her. But the zoo’s rantings ought to get the crazies pouring into her grifting PAC.
Run, Sarah, run!
i just sent this letter to the president through the whitehouse.gov web site. maybe if he gets enough letters he will do something more than just act mad, maybe he will do something.
Dear Mr president.
BP has repeatedly ignored safety and maintenance rules and regulations. they make nearly a hundred million dollars a day so fines have no affect on them , they can continue to ignore and pay the fines, its just a business expense for them.
Mr president if you are truly outraged and upset then you need to have the guts to do something about it.
EVERY BP WELL IN AMERICA SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN TODAY UNTIL FULL INSPECTIONS CAN BE DONE.
(i think they should be banned from doing any business in America)
Unless we as a nation demand that they are safe and that they are punished if they ignore the rules then we are complicit in the destruction of the environment for profit. you sir are our leader.
my own state leaders are corrupted with with oil money, most of the legislative branch of the federal gov. is corrupted with corporate money..
will you stand up for the American people and the animals of the earth?
will you put the safety of the planet ahead of the economics of man?
BP has demonstrated time and again that
they do not deserve the right to profit from OUR resources.
Mr president you have the chance to do something that will change the coarse of the nation and the world.
shut down every BP well in this country by executive order and really teach them a lesson.
Good points, Ivan. I can see that you care deeply, and I think whoever reads your letter at the whitehouse.gov site will understand your passion and appreciate your civility. I, too, often write my concerns and submit them on that site. So far, so good, because it seems a lot of us usually have the same idea at the same time – I say that because, to this point in time, every issue we get fired-up about soon gets some sort of response – either action or an explanation. I am hopeful.
Isn’t it great to have a President who gives us a legitimate way to voice our concerns and who really seems to care? I read that he reads almost a dozen letters from citizens every day – in one day, I bet that’s more than George W. Bush ever read during his two terms in office!
Love the flag! Too bad it takes courage for people to post it today. It would so make my day to come upon something like that. I’ve seen just the opposite, so I’m thrilled to see this.
They should reproduce the flag image on signs and bumper stickers although the right wing fringe are armed and dangerous and all those “mama grizzlies” might protect their loved ones.
Let me get this straight…She’s for smaller government and less regulation in order to allow businesses to flourish and stimulate the economy, but she wants stringent government oversight to the drilling so we can drill, baby drill. The government, which she characterizes as evil and too big and steals all our money to give it to poor people needs to step up and prevent spills like this, but when her party was in power, they gutted the safeguards that would prevent a spill like this.
I don’t usually post an entire quote (as per rules of Internet etiquette), but this was sent to me in a newsletter and I truly do not think the author would mind. I believe her purpose is to spread hope where it is needed the most, and she is credited.
Lainey – this is especially for you. Your frustrations need hope, your love for the good in the world needs to be replenished.

Reflections – You Were Made for This
My friends, do not lose heart. We were made for these times. I have heard from so many recently who are deeply and properly bewildered. They are concerned about the state of affairs in our world now. Ours is a time of almost daily astonishment and often righteous rage over the latest degradations of what matters most to civilized, visionary people.
You are right in your assessments. The lustre and hubris some have aspired to while endorsing acts so heinous against children, elders, everyday people, the poor, the unguarded, the helpless, is breathtaking. Yet I urge you, ask you, gentle you, to please not spend your spirit dry by bewailing these difficult times. Especially do not lose hope. Most particularly because, the fact is that we were made for these times. Yes. For years, we have been learning, practicing, been in training for and just waiting to meet on this exact plain of engagement.
I grew up on the Great Lakes and recognize a seaworthy vessel when I see one. Regarding awakened souls, there have never been more able vessels in the waters than there are right now across the world. And they are fully provisioned and able to signal one another as never before in the history of humankind. Look out over the prow; there are millions of boats of righteous souls on the waters with you. Even though your veneers may shiver from every wave in this stormy roil, I assure you that the long timbers composing your prow and rudder come from a greater forest. That long-grained lumber is known to withstand storms, to hold together, to hold its own, and to advance, regardless.
In any dark time, there is a tendency to veer toward fainting over how much is wrong or unmended in the world. Do not focus on that. There is a tendency, too, to fall into being weakened by dwelling on what is outside your reach, by what cannot yet be. Do not focus there. That is spending the wind without raising the sails.
We are needed, that is all we can know. And though we meet resistance, we more so will meet great souls who will hail us, love us and guide us, and we will know them when they appear. Didn’t you say you were a believer? Didn’t you say you pledged to listen to a voice greater? Didn’t you ask for grace? Don’t you remember that to be in grace means to submit to the voice greater?
Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good.
What is needed for dramatic change is an accumulation of acts, adding, adding to, adding more, continuing. We know that it does not take everyone on Earth to bring justice and peace, but only a small, determined group who will not give up during the first, second, or hundredth gale.
One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these-to be fierce and to show mercy toward others; both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity.
Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do.
There will always be times when you feel discouraged. I too have felt despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it. I will not entertain it. It is not allowed to eat from my plate.
The reason is this: In my uttermost bones I know something, as do you. It is that there can be no despair when you remember why you came to Earth, who you serve, and who sent you here. The good words we say and the good deeds we do are not ours. They are the words and deeds of the One who brought us here. In that spirit, I hope you will write this on your wall: When a great ship is in harbor and moored, it is safe, there can be no doubt. But that is not what great ships are built for.
Tally ho, here we go! I think Pirates can be dressed in white, heh? We can be inherently good, but know how to fight and steal the ships and thunder from those who deserve to lose them.
MUYS: Thank you for this.
I have been despairing of late.
With a husband who works in the oilfield (and knows a lot more about what is going on than the media does-for instance the fact that drilling for oil is a dangerous pursuit for both man and environment and our technology cannot prevent all disasters and yet I still have to go and fill my gas tank to get to work 20 miles away), a heart that bleeds for the men who lost their lives and for what is to come for both the environment and the people in the Gulf, frustration with not only our politicians but also our people (who continue to rail against one another, seeking anywhere to cast blame, rather than trying to work together), shudders from ugly, angry e-mails coming from B-I-L in AZ almost daily, etc, etc, etc. I have nearly lost heart and wanted to throw my hands up in despair and disgust and say “Oh to h*ll with it, I give up, Mother Earth will just have to do us all in and start over again”.
I went into the last election with great hope. The naysayers who have obstructed nearly everything that might have improved things are slowly eroding my hope. President Obama, although I appreciate his thoughtfulness and I understand the need to find a center in order to get ANYTHING done, has often disappointed me. I was hoping for a beautiful revolution of liberal ideas. I sometimes think that it is the impossible dream. So many roadblocks stand in the way. I am still waiting to see what this health care reform (not really the way I wanted it) will bring to people in need (as I watch my premiums and deductables rise). I am surrounded by people who somehow feel entitiled to everything without paying the cost. Our environment is getting trashed on a daily basis and we don’t seem to have any immediate answers (other than what we can afford in our own backyards).
The world is indeed a stormy sea right now. I am not sure that my ship is strong enough to hold up. But I will shine the light of my soul (as small as it may be right now) on deck and try my best to continue to do what I can, where I can and reach out to people and animals who need me. It is just that the waves of anger that crash into me on a daily basis have forced me to seek the safe harbor of finding peace where I can and sometimes that peace just comes from shutting it all out for awhile.
I agree, love my dogs, I am not happy at all with the way things are going. The Gulf, terrorist attempts, tea baggers, economy etc.. Palin provides comic relief but also frustration that people actually believe she should be involved in running our country! I am especially concerned about November and the elections. But sometimes we all need to take a break to
clear the mind and think about the positive, we all have those things to be grateful for even when it looks bleak.
Your ship is strong enough. Your soul shines brightly. I know where you live, and how surrounded you are by those who are selfish, angry, and settling in AK because they think it’s all theirs for the taking (along with anything else that comes along). Believe me, I know.
Take your break, hug your dogs, replenish yourself. I’m doing that, too.
What has sustained me lately is the the memories of my mother’s great hope and despair in the 60s. She felt a flood of relief as the oppressive wave of the 50s for her began to dissipate – she embraced the love, the questioning, the protests, the refusal to “go with the flow”. She drug us off to Haight Ashbury in the middle of it all for a visit (she was a teacher in a tiny, backwater and clueless town full of commie haters). She would have been right in the middle of it all including the protests if it weren’t for us. She stayed involved, outspoken, supportive in the face of great opposition to almost all of those around her. She rose above them all, and made a difference. She tells me now that fearful people fight their hardest when things start to change. But change it does, in spite of them. They are the minority, no matter how votes come and go. They are the fearful ones.
thank you for the honorable mention…my concern is sincerely for my grand-children’s future…this constant barrage of lying sacks that rule over us always gets me going.
Is abortion really an important issue? The world is falling apart, this country is broken and yet, taking away a woman’s choice over her own body is an urgent issue?
I understand how you feel, lilybart. I agree. For one thing, there really are not that many abortions being done as a percentage of all child-bearing aged-women. It is a sham argument. Of the abortions that do occur, it is my understanding that most are done for valid medical reasons.
If it is so important to avoid abortions, why don’t these people promote sex education, condom distribution and use, birth control, et cetera? Oddly enough, these same people seem to be against sex education.
I think it is an easy issue to stir people up with and it gets them to donate money to the folks who use it as a rallying call. It’s easier to scream about this than to think about it and take responsibility.
I’ve been pro-choice my entire reproductive life, but I’ve never met anyone who is thrilled with abortions. They are simply a medical option that should be exercised only when needed. From the way Palin and company tell it, we all are just chomping at the bit to go out and get our abortions. Fools, such fools they are.
Anyway, they’d best keep abortion as an option. If we keep polluting our environment, there are going to be more fetal problems of a horrendous nature.
CNN just interviewed a man named Mike Mason from Alaska about the oil Spill disaster as sort of an Expert and what he knows. He talked about how the oil companies fudge or falsify the tests that are supposed to be done to prove that these blow-out valves are working properly. His opinion… the Oil companies Lie. Data submitted is wrong and sometimes fabricated. He used to work in the industry and on Oil rigs.
Sanchez asked if he is worried about BP and the Oil companies trying to destroy him or go after him.
He said he expects they probably will. Is her scared..? He says he lives in a ‘ remote area ‘.
He has testified in Court in the past about what he knows.
Asked WHY they would falsify tests and such. His opinion/response ( from the oil companies ) ” Time is Money to them “. Doing tests in their mind costs them money. Can’t be bothered.
I don’t know his background but AKM or Shannyn Moore may know him.
Here’s another tidbit. Getting ready for the Preakness here in MD tomorrow. One of the horses, First Dude, is named after none other than you know who. Checked on the owner, one David Dizney, lots of horse connections. But he made his money from the profits of healthcare (hospitals, etc.) Big exec now, lots of money, gave to McCain-Palin. Contributes to FL repubs.
So his money came from healthcare – Medicare probably, and very high insurance payments to hospitals. Got to love those $10 aspirins. Making money off the Feds and complaining all the way to the bank.
Hope the first dude falls on his tushy. Not the horse, as I love horses. But it’s like she or one of her family stick their stinky nose everywhere. Peeuuu. I’m cheering for the Lucky horse, or Paddy O.
Wonder if she will be visiting Dizney’s farm – Double Diamond. All those white fences and such.
she’s in NC this afternoon with the NRA…http://www.wral.com/news/state/story/7600645/
PLEASE, read the comments! the bloom is off the rose.
keep in mind that this is north carolina, a southern state.
You really want to know why there’s not much female support for Palin around here?
I’ll tell you.
“She’s exactly what smart girls DON’T want to be. She’s a pretty face with no brain, a scam artist that got where she is by preaching to the choir. She makes women in power everywhere look bad just by opening her mouth.
She is exactly what we should be pointing out to our daughters as an example of what NOT to do.
Now everybody, please stop giving this woman publicity so she can just go away and take care of her family, which is what she claimed she quit the governor’s job for.”
Oh, I am sick of Sarah Palin. We took our country back in the last two national elections, fair and square. And, we have listened to this sore loser for nearly as long as she was Gov of Alaska. And, fools are paying to listen to her and we are getting her words and sound bites as a result of too much media coverage. There are many other people that are speaking to groups and who are they and what do they have to say that might enlighten our citizens. No coverage of that at all.
It was reported that she had nine, NINE, bodyguards when she was in Rosemont, Illinois. Mama Grizzlies what do you think about that? Nine bodyguards to protect the pitbull in lipstick and 6 inch heels. Have you noticed that she seems to be wasting away, really flat? Even with all that security, it looks like someone stole her padded, push-up bra. Frail, high maintenance beeoch with a big mouth and an even bigger ego.
I just read on TP that NY Rep Peter King is fussing about the mosque and Muslim community center that will be built in Manhattan, two blocks away from Ground Zero. He’s got his knickers in a knot about it and saying all sorts of inflammatory things about how evil Muslims are and how the mosque would be such a slap in the face of everyone (presumably excluding the hundreds of Muslims who died that day) who suffered because of the 9/11 attacks. Many people have been hysterically repeating the lie that the mosque will be built right on the WTC property, which is not true.
Having grown up on Long Island and hearing stories about this idiot for years, I am amazed that he has the balls to make comments like this, considering his own questionable history. He’s downplayed it for the past couple of decades, but he was well known for his long-standing enthusiastic (and very public) financial and political support of the IRA during some of their most violent years.
It’s okay for him to directly support the violent thugs of the IRA, but it’s wrong for Muslims who had nothing to do with the attack to build a house of worship and community center on land that happens to be near the southern tip of Manhattan.
On a happier note (although I reserve the right to change that designation at sunrise tomorrow morning), I seem to have acquired a new alarm clock/perpetual sound effects machine.
There is a louvered attic vent just above my bedroom window that has apparently become the hottest real estate in the neighborhood. From a feathered perspective, its location is ideal…near several large cypresses that provide weather protection as well as flight-launching opportunities, and above two medium weigela shrubs that provide soft landings for newly fledging chicks. Substantial amounts of flat, completely vertical wall around it prevent access by predators.
It is currently occupied by a nest of very hungry and extremely vocal sparrow-lets who enthusiastically express their displeasure and impatience during any and all daylight hours. Fortunately for me, an early start in my school demands a correspondingly early wake-up time on my clock radio during the week, only a short time after the cheep-fest begins.
Tomorrow, however…
And HOW long does it take for sparrows to fledge??????????????
I just read that she spoke to the Susan B Anthony Society, and said that she understood the dilemma of women who have to consider an abortion because she’s been there, but later in the same speech says that she never considered having an abortion.
Do those people in the audience even listen to what she is saying??
At some point you have to ask- where is her child(ren) and how much time is she spending with them? What right does she have to wear a cross and place judgement on a women’s right-and a legal one on that front. What pressue is she putting on her own children who might not make the same choices she made. Secondly, she is now jumping in on immigration basketball debate. And she screams cries of our “country that we should take back” As a Native American-blood line. Who is she talking about? Does she consider the hispanic population who have roots to this country from 300 years plus/prior to some of the states becoming states of the U.S.A. Where her family members immigrants of this country? Does she not see that her very “moral” speech is in direct conflict to the battle cries she belts out that separate people based on their belief and the color of their skin. Worry about your own children- shut up and pick up a history book and don’t just rant what you think is correct. And she thinks she could appeal to all Americans? She is an embarrassement and represents ignorance beyond ignorant. Get back on your ship, your broom, or your new plane and go home and be the President of your children. This woman bugs me and I have tried to look at her being a mom, etc. etc. but she is simply full of it that it boggles the mind.
And another thing. Instead of starting stupid facebook pages. Encourage the govt to do some something about immigration. So now she is the basketball queen of America? Make up your mind. I pray for a female politician with substance that will come along and put Palin in her place. Right next to the moose poo.
Isn’t there a bear on the California state flag? And isn’t it COMMON SENSE KNOWLEDGE that California is a liberal godless commie state? Which means – Palin is a socialist commie liberal!
well, let’s see. Socialist- check. receives a check from the AK oil residuals, the PFD.
Commie- check! She can even see Russia from her house.
Liberal- Check!! She is all about women’s rights, and her best growing
up was a lesbian.
Aussiegal77, I think you’ve stumbled upon something here. You better wipe your shoe.
hold on a minute. Used to be that Palin would only get into the news cycles on purpose by saying stupid and inflammatory things when she was trying to divert attention from some indiscretion on her or her husband’s part.
Think Family Guy flap, e-mail-gate, AFT….
Makes me wonder what she’s covering. AKM? Shannyn?
I am so proud of our investigative media…Obama must be slapping his forehead each time the layers of corruption are peeled away…it’s not the government that needs oversight, it’s the corporations…those ‘dang’ free market, mom and pop, small business’ that grease the palms of those preachy conservatives…stop the bleeding at the source.
I’m involved with a nonprofit corporation, and believe me, there are numerous nonprofits that don’t deserve to exist. And when you look at the *major* corporations, it really makes one wonder what’s going on there.
Today’s corporations (nonprofit and for-profit alike) have been given a free pass for way too long. They need to be scrutinized, and they need to be held to what they promised when they organized!
For the nonprofits especially — if they can’t show they’re spending money to actually DO something (other than line their pockets), then they lose their 501(c)3!
First thing that came to mind was: They should have added “Oh My!” Good morning pups, It is the beginning of my weekend and I can not wait for Sarah Palin to rear her ugly head. She is overdue.
Okay – I’m trying hard to be nice here, but it’s not working. I like the sign, and I love your addition. I hope you have a great weekend.
I understand, and you are nice. It just seems that every time I have a few days off Screech rears her ugly bumpit and keeps me tied to the computer for ages. I actually hope she goes into hybernation but tis not the season.
CNN is carrying her speech today per the see 4 p pitchforkers.
it is well said isn’t it?
yes. love the sign. love the owner.
And the spelling on the sign is correct!
Might have been amusing if they had written “moran” with quotation marks. Great sign nonetheless.
TGIF ♥
Coastal southern Oregon is a fabulous place. Hurray for them. That country goes north and south. I really appreciated you documentary about Sitka. Those outside have N CA, OR, WA. We have Alaska’s coastal rainforests. A matter of degrees? Thanx
To the owner of the above sign:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Best regards,
Clondyne Mergenford
Funny! This comment, along with the photo, is starting my Friday very well. Thanks. Happy weekend to all mudpups.
WIN!!
Hahaha!
Way to go Rennie!
Being a good ole’ Oregon boy, you gotta love these people. More power to you.
I have not picked dewberries since I was a child. Thanks so much for the pleasant memories this morning.
I do love the simple joy of learning something new. A joy our dear Scarah will never know. She really is a role model, for exactly how NOT to live your life.
Amen.
It’s drizzling outside here, one of those dreary, weary continuous dripping from the heavens that means my outdoor plans for the day are either on hold, or going to be very …soggy.
The above picture has made my day. Lovely day, lovely way to begin this newly brightened day.
What a lovely picture!
We are starting with a rare clear sunny morning here in Southeast Alaska …
I will share with you!
We have had either rain or drips for over a week. Can’t get in the garden. Can’t go outside much. Can’t stand being inside. Hoping for at least a couple nice days so I can go play in the dirt/mud.
Oh- I will share with you too!
kind of haunted…
We have so much rain and wet here…
Everyone dashes out on dry days and tries to get all things done which can be jammed into a few short hours…
If , by some miracle, the dry lasts 3 days folks are starting to look exhausted
More than 3 days and they /we look haunted… the world is ending, sky is falling
House painting is a multi month activity…
Gardening is an aquatic activity…
But we always share the sunny days!
With everyone!
I agree…and not just any one can garden in snorkel gear! That takes a Southeast Alaskan! Happy Friday to all wet or dry….And I want this sign in my front yard too!!
Hey, you forget about us in Oregon, we don’t tan , we rust.
Ah….a dose of truth to kick off the day.
Check out this fox divin’ for dinner.

Gorgeous fox..and what a nice fluffy tail…hmmm…methinks that tail would look good as a hat….(just kidding)

Olbermann:Cornell..Maddow:Stanford/Oxford – Beck:1 College Class..Hannity:Drop Out..Rush:Dropped Out of Southeast Missouri State University..Why is this not mentioned more?
Because going to college is considered elitist.
LOVE IT….I want one…..
me too
Heres a coffee mug..raised high..for the honest souls who created and placed that display!
You may have canes growing from the root graft on that rosebush. Sometimes it happens, and the flowers are different from the top graft.
LOL
LOL. po Merry.
If you think that’s funny, wait til you read this: Last night, I came home from work to discover my two younger cats, Sydney and Luna, had decided to retrieve my socks from the dirty clothes pile and baptise them in their water dish! Must have thought they had demons or something. LOL and EEWW!
Your cats are funny. I hope Rerun comes home safe and sound.
you have sweet kittehs. they just trying to help teh momma. can they haz cheeseburger now?
that is beautiful. and so, so true. i think about palin more than is healthy, and what i was thinking this morning is that she has become a caricature of herself.
Sarah found her niche!
I love that barn owner.
Ha !!

Amen to that!
i’ll take a large slice of that chocolate cake please.
It’s a beautiful day in Chicago and Sarah Palin is no longer in town!! She brought thunder storms, lightning and massive rains to town and now that she has left, the sun is shining again!!
That sign is excellent and also goes to show that not everyone in this wonderful country is fooled by her.
Happy Friday!
“Who in the public will be stupid enough to get her the Republican nomination, and even think of giving her access to the codes for nukes?”
Those who, like Sarah, believe the launch codes are Jesus’ secret pager number.
Now that’s MY Oregon! It’s a great place. Sunny statewide today too. Thanks!
I am proud of the state of my youth, if they are thinking this way!!!!
YMMD! Salute to the courageous soul who put that sign up. (Or maybe he/she has the largest arsenal in the county and everyone knows that!)
thanks for that AKM.
Thanks for that…sometimes it feels like the only Republicans that see the real $arah are those in Alaska!
Good Morning….Love it…Want one…good way to end the week…Beautiful here in N. Ca. this morning..no wind..yea, have a humming bird trying to cone thru a window..hmmm better fillthe bottle up….Have a grt. wknd Pups….
thanks Star..you too.
need spellcheck…me bad
I love my state. Oregon is the best.
What a hoot! Great sign. Almost wish it was morans, not morons. =)
Wow, what a wonderful story.
This is the BEST story I have read today so far. YOU are another great ambassador for Alaska!
OH HELL NO!!!!!
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Tallimat))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
i read your story…then reread it..it is wonderful. thank you. as i travel around, here and there. i am so grateful to meet some really grand, kind and considerate people. that is why when the so-called media continues to uphold and report on the ugly and unkind ‘merikkkans among us it makes me angry.
Wonderful story. And way quick thinking, Socrates.
Lol!
EXCELLENT take down by Malia of Palin’s IL screech:
http://malialitman.wordpress.com/2010/05/14/sarah-palin-you-fouled-out-game-over/#comment-1008
Deserves to go viral – post it all over the place, everyone!!
…. more Surprises! @ http://www.singlesourcespeakers.com/speakers/bristolpalin/
Bristol Palin becomes flagship client for SSS
Single Source Speakers’ flagship client Bristol Palin got Americans talking about teenage pregnancy during the 2008 presidential campaign. Today, she is a proud mom to son, Tripp, and a Teen Ambassador for Candie’s Foundation. Bristol recently appeared on the ABC drama, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and is writing her first book.
LOL
Oh gag me now, with or without a spoon.
I seem to be on a links roll today…..another great read from The Atlantic’s Michael Kinsley:
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2010/06/my-country-tis-of-me/8088
I think when we become a country that complains about anything and everything AND don’t bother to come up actual workable solutions TOGETHER – then I think we are headed for even bigger disaster.
Enough with the partisan fighting – I want our elected officials to work together to help us ALL.
Me, too.
It is utterly overwhelming to contemplate how much the Bush43 presidency has damaged our country…
Sorry if this is a redundant link.
U.S. Said To Allow Drilling Without Needed Permits
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/14/us/14agency.html?hp
Salazar is no friend of the environment. He also allowed the delisting of the wolves in Yellowstone.
Great story #25! What a delightful open thread with great comments and resources from everyone. Have a wonderful (rainy) day!
Yeah – what a great plan.
“Hey kids – stuff your parents and your teachers! Go to AZ yourselves! Here’s some money, have fun now!”
She is a lunatic.
Malia’s take:
http://malialitman.wordpress.com/2010/05/14/sarah-palin-you-fouled-out-game-over/#comment-1008
(aargh!)
South Side Chicago
I believe you meant “Head Moran.”
“Real America” is not as stupid as the Ugly Bumpit will try and tell you. She carefully surrounds herself with “fans” and will not engage with anyone with brain power. Love this sign! Thanks for posting.
This from Gryphen re: Lisa Murkowski –
http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2010/05/after-devastating-environmental-damage.html
why oh why am i not at all surprised?
So, here’s hoping Rachel or Keith pick up on this. I have no confidence that other MSM will mention it.
Love the sign, love the barn.
Love crazy, independent Oregon!
More words of wisdom from the victim. Poor me and my poor daughter, we are such victims of the media and culture. She said that the elites don’t even admit she is a woman. Please someone tell me what she is talking about, it is too hard to try to figure it out for my self. Any psychiatrists in the house?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/14/sarah-palin-mama-grizzlie_n_576431.html
And then there was this line, “she said some young women would see what happened to Bristol and perhaps be encouraged to seek an abortion instead of facing similar criticism.”
Huh?!? Wasn’t she speaking at a anti-abortion conference?
I’m sooooooooooooooooo confused.
Sarah drove them ’round the bend and across the bridge to nowhere….po little things. tsk tsk.
yes BinCo….there is an adjective or three but AKM won’t let us use them.(hanging head and weeping)
Maybe AKM could give us one day a week where we could just let loose. Use the words we used to use in high school. I think it would be highly theraputic, better then a spa day!
LOVE how they put Palin first.
Sincerely,
As usual, Palin sticks her nose into a situation where she has left out almost all of the facts and creates a mountain out of a few grains of dirt.
OH! That’s different.
Never mind.
This team has won nothing yet, qualified for no tournies. They want to enter a league which will allow them to go to a tournament out of state, but they don’t even pick the team until Nov 2010.
according to the school’s website.
Thank you for posting this, I will share it.
When I heard the news on the radio after her speech, I knew that there had to be SOMETHING amiss. I knew that there had to be something she was either omitting, didn’t know about or misrepresenting.
What an idiot.
Thanks for sharing this.
Can you imagine bringing students to an athletic competition and taking the risk that some of them might be harassed and/or deported??? Yikes…that could give anyone nightmares!
If I’m reading this correctly, the “team” doesn’t even exist yet. It will be selected in November.
She’s lied about so many other things, I think there are some interesting skeletons in the lady’s closest.
very interesting
So when someone has the money but does not choose to use it …
Gotta problem there.
I agree, mental illness AND a tubal ligation after Piper!!
I thought she did release them. Seem to remember it took a bit to get the medical records, but I remember reading about them.
It will be a whole new ball of wax once she declares her candidacy. Bring it, Palin, bring it.
She thinks she’s scrutinized now? HA! She ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
She did not release the records but, the night before election day, she did have her doctor write a short summary:
http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-36308520081104
i think she is hiding a severe mental disorder. truly. no snark intended.

FROM HUFFINGTON POST:
“Sarah Palin will announce her presidential bid in Obama’s home state on Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday (2/6/11), according to Conservatives4Palin’s analysis.” —–
http://bit.ly/aD9Y9h
This could be a good thing. Once she declares, she has to open up and answer all questions! All her financial, medical and real estate records are going to be fair game. Wonder how that tax-dodging is going to play?
great!!!
Sorry but palin is no Ronald reagan not at all
Gag! If you can stomach it here is live feed to NRA convention and Winky is screeching right now.

Good heavens, are we never to have a break from her??
i just sent this letter to the president through the whitehouse.gov web site. maybe if he gets enough letters he will do something more than just act mad, maybe he will do something.
Mr president you have the chance to do something that will change the coarse of the nation and the world.
shut down every BP well in this country by executive order and really teach them a lesson.
sincerely, your employer.
Mr Ivan *****
I hope a lot more of us follow your example!
The Country (actually the world) is in serious trouble if this woman gets more of a following:
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Media/sarah-palin-drilling-bp-oil-spill/story?id=10649211
I have to say Palin looks very thin and quite orange in this clip but what she says in even more scary.
I’m getting dizzy….
Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D, author of the best-seller Women Who Run with the Wolves
That was wonderful–I’m going to save it! Thanks for posting it.
dear Martha uys….thank you. i was in need go those words. so beautifully written and so true.
bless you dear Martha and love and kisses and many many hugs from your fellow mariner…bubs
“For years, we have been learning, practicing, been in training for and just waiting to meet on this exact plain of engagement.”
You are where you need to be for your grandchildren – do not give up.
never will I give up for them…I want their world to be a better place.
As Palin motivates her fans, I hope the rest of us will motivate ourselves to help to ‘get out the vote’ against them:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/05/14/palin-hits-campaign-trail-for-anti-abortion-group/?fbid=-5OYzFUIY6w
Is abortion really an important issue? The world is falling apart, this country is broken and yet, taking away a woman’s choice over her own body is an urgent issue?
ugh
June 8, baby…I’m ready!
Shannyn just had him on her radio show a few minutes ago.
See this.
I haven’t yet.

I LOVE Calvin Borel. I’m cheering for a triple crown!
Not First Dude – First Dud….
LOL
she’s in NC this afternoon with the NRA…http://www.wral.com/news/state/story/7600645/
PLEASE, read the comments! the bloom is off the rose.
keep in mind that this is north carolina, a southern state.
I liked this comment:
Frail, high maintenance beeoch with a big mouth and an even bigger ego.
it’s all that redbull and lack of nutrients…can affect the operation of the brain also too
I just read on TP that NY Rep Peter King is fussing about the mosque and Muslim community center that will be built in Manhattan, two blocks away from Ground Zero.
Yeah…that sounds reasonable.
This is just a drive-by opinion, but Rep. Peter King (R-Nutcase) is what is clinically known as a POS.
And possibly, and FPOS.
an
Demagogue = political agitator who appeals to the prejudice and passions of the mob.
Sarah Palin = demagogue.
http://www.csmonitor.com/From-the-news-wires/2010/0514/Sarah-Palin-says-Obama-would-ban-guns-and-ammunition-if-he-could-get-away-with-it
*snap* you owe me a coke.
She’s gotta stop making stuff up. People are not that stupid.
It would be SOOOOOOOO good, to have someone stand up and yell “You Lie” !! everytime she says one…..chortle… it would end up being a short speech !!
I just saw in my local paper online that Palin said that Obama would ban guns if he could. That is the lamest thing I have ever heard.
So would I.
Po Leenie… i hope you got plans for 6am other than sleeping in….heheh
I just read that she spoke to the Susan B Anthony Society, and said that she understood the dilemma of women who have to consider an abortion because she’s been there, but later in the same speech says that she never considered having an abortion.
Do those people in the audience even listen to what she is saying??
I don’t think that her fans care: they love that she incites hatred and loves the way that she looks. For them, that’s all that really matters.
Is her children learning?
flying pig…..sheeshh big bad grizzlie girl…needs 9 bodyguards…tooo funny…hope she lands on her ass….sorry AKM…about the naughty word…
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this comment from HuffPo in response to the story about Palin and the mama grizzly republicans:
“The Bear was the symbol of the Soviet Union…clearly, this woman, whoever she is, is a Communist.”
The poster said he was not the original author of that comment but felt it was important to repeat. I agree!
Wait till Glenn Beck finds out!
Isn’t there a bear on the California state flag? And isn’t it COMMON SENSE KNOWLEDGE that California is a liberal godless commie state? Which means – Palin is a socialist commie liberal!
GAH!
Well! I never saw that coming……=p
well, let’s see.
You better wipe your shoe.
best FRIEND, of course.
Has anyone actually seen her birth certificate…long form, of course? How do we even know she was born in this country?
She certainly doesn’t speak the language like a native…
Really, she is a freak show. We are all so astounded that anyone could be such a blithering idiot.
I’ll keep my eye on her though.
hold on a minute.
AKM? Shannyn?
Time for mini humor break!

How about doing both.
Bed. Night Mudpups.
Or, you could just go to bed. Night night. Don’t dream of liars, bigots and morons.
Or dim bulbs!
When Forty sends me to bed, I know she is right!
I wonder what is happening at IM?
LOL…go. to bed.

I posted a comment there.
Lainey, absolutely right.
