Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

Joe the Neighbor – Palin Author Moves Next Door.

Time to pop the corn, folks.  Joe McGinniss, author of the epic political best-seller The Selling of the President about Richard Nixon, Going to Extremes about the Alaskan pipeline days, and others has his sights set on Sarah Palin. She will be the subject of his next book, and now she’s also… his neighbor. McGinniss is also the journalist who wrote the piece Pipe Dreams for Conde Nast’s Portfolio and was thwarted in his attempt to win an auction for dinner with Sarah Palin.

Perhaps to encourage the muse, or perhaps out of a sense of “why not,” Mr. McGinniss has landed himself on the shores of Lake Lucille, right next door to the Palins. He’s renting the house for the summer.  While there is no indication that McGinniss planned to publish photos or information about the personal lives of the Palin children, Sarah Palin has responded to the discovery of her famous neighbor in classic Palin style.

When I said “classic Palin style,” if you immediately thought “wild, inappropriate over-reaction” you can give yourself a gold star.  And if you guessed Facebook rant, give yourself another one.  This one was just too big for the Twitter limit of 140 characters.  With twitchy forced nonchalance, she offers to bake him a pie, offers to lend him sugar and says she’ll keep her youngest son Trig quiet so McGinniss can enjoy his summer of peace and quiet while she constructs a giant fence.  In this monologue, which is worthy of every “crazy neighbor” character ever penned, she also speculates (somewhere between the pie and the sugar) that he’ll be spying in Piper’s bedroom window, and watching her do the gardening while wearing skimpy summer clothing. It’s quite something.  Reading it is kind of like watching someone spontaneously combust.

And in a brilliant move, to attempt to show how intrusive he’s going to be, and how much he will invade her privacy, she has actually published a picture of him sitting on the far side of the deck, minding his own business. You know… to show how inappropriate he is for whatever it is he might or might not do at some time in the future.  Maybe.  You know, like taking a creepy spy picture of her that she doesn’t know about and then publishing it online to a hostile audience and asking for comment.  He would sink that low, wouldn’t he.  Some people…

Of all the words I can think of to describe how Palin has chosen to react to the news of her new neighbor, “presidential” isn’t one of them.  Just sayin’.

I’ve posted a similar piece on The Huffington Post

UPDATE:

Just to compound the insanity, Glen Beck has now called for a boycott of all Random House books because Mr. McGinniss has rented a private house.

The Palins have begun work on a new ginormous fence, apparently.  Hope it stays within Wasilla building code.

Section16.16.050(19)    Appearance. The proposed use may be required to blend in with the general neighborhood appearance and architecture. Building spacing, setbacks, lot coverage, and height must be designed to provide adequate provisions for natural light and air.

http://www.codepublishing.com/ak/wasilla.html

UPDATE II:

Glenn Beck has threatened Random House with a boycott unless they pull the plug, and has also announced that the ex-half-gov will be on his program tomorrow talking about it.

Random House Books has issued the following statement:

One of the country’s most respected nonfiction authors, Joe McGinniss, is presently reporting and writing his next book, tentatively titled Sarah Palin’s Year of Living Dangerously, scheduled for publication in fall 2011 by Broadway Books. Mr. McGinniss is the author of Going to Extremes, a classic book about Alaska, and his work-in-progress returns him to the 49th state to examine Sarah Palin’s significance as both a political and cultural phenomenon and as an embodiment of the contradictory forces that shaped Alaska as it moved into its second half-century of statehood. Well regarded for his in-depth, up-close reporting, Mr. McGinniss will be highly respectful of his subject’s privacy as he investigates her public activities.

I have a great idea for Joe. Since he once bid a considerable amount of money to have an EBay dinner with Sarah, I suggest that he invite Sarah, Todd and the whole family over for dinner. He can even make his offer again– a donation to a charity if Sarah comes. As for the blueberry pie, I thought that Sarah’s specialty was a plate of cookies.

As an added bonus, he could promise Sarah that their conversation would be off the record, knowing full well it’d appear on her FB page within minutes. Pretty sure that would put it in the public domain.

Kande, you make an excellent point. It’s not that she is just resistant to anyone telling her to sit down and shut up, she cannot shut up. She simply cannot leave anything well enough alone. She is her own worse enemy.

Gosh, can you imagine having a President behave like this? Mortifying is the word that springs to mind What an embarrassment.

I think a a friendly barbeque would be nice. A get together to mend fences (pun not intended but unavoidable). You know, invite the Palins over at six, have the Alaskan bloggers over at seven – or vice versa. Have someone video the whole thing. Whoa, boy.

Kidding aside, I do hope Joe is not living there alone. He really should have some kind of witness with him. On this point, I am very serious. I would also advise him to stay clear of windows and close the curtains at night.

BTW – Sarah’s nasty slur about him might wanting a peek at Piper’s bedroom – well, if you look at the photo, the windows on HER house sit higher than the windows on the place he is in so if anyone is going to peek, it might be HER.

What a creep she is. Her mind must be a nasty place to visit, let alone live within.

One must admit that it is uncomfortable to have someone who is writing a book about you to show up as a neaighbor. That being said, does SP ever have a moment where she looks and says, “I can take the high road and fly through this or I can jomp in the cess pool and start wallowing and throwing STUFF!” and take the high road?

She doesn’t get clicks for taking the high road. She gets excited with her name in big print.

She could have taken the high road and said nothing about it. But then she couldn’t play the victim card again. Sooner or later the playing the victim card is gonna come back and bite her. She claims she is a victim of the media, yet she chooses to make a comment about anything and everything to the media for attention. She is the one who chose to put herself out in the spotlight, now she is the one who has deal with being a media figure. What about all of those stars that you never here anything about? If they can stay out of the spotlight, and come out only for interviews then she should be able too. If she can’t stand the heat stay out of the kitchen!

Perhaps the problem is that she has no knowledge of anything substantial so the only things she CAN spew about are right wing talking points and her dysfunctional family.

        Possible “high-road” options:

–Do nothing, unless for some unlikely reason you truly feel threatened.

–Wave, say hello, be honest (hey, I can’t say we’re happy it’s you but I trust you’ll respect our privacy).
–Build a high fence without telling anyone.
–Offer to take Joe for a tour–share what you know about Wasilla and AK.
–Offer an off the record interview about something simple and noncontroversial
–Host a welcome party for him, introducing him to other neighbors.
–Contact Joe’s people/publisher and make a calm and cogent case against him being next door.

Yep, ALL of those are perfect options Mel, especially the last one. But remember this is $arah we’re talking about and not one of your options would make a lick of sense to her. You can’t begin to know how remotely one could live in Alaska without much effort. $arah has the money to get the hell out of the middle (literally) of town. Yet, she sticks around. Lots of people in Alaska who don’t have no where near the amount of money she has, have a remote cabin or home site somewhere. She’s full of it and no one would have paid McGinniss’s mention of living next door to the Palins a bit of attention had SHE not said anything. Sorta like NO ONE would have known who Bristol’s “BABY’S DADDY” is had $arah not said his name on national TV. If this entire exchange hasn’t proved to her followers that she has a screw loose I don’t know what will.

As usual, her response is way over the top.

For starters, only the very creepy would care to know what she was wearing in her backyard. Is she still pandering to that group by giving them that visual? I don’t care what she wears, as long as it isn’t indecent or disrespectful in public.

Assuming she wasn’t showing off her naughty bits and the family wasn’t doing anything illegal or immoral in full view of the neighboring house, there was no need to end her “outdoor adventure” “quickly” and the histrionics were unwarranted, as usual. Surely she has had neighbors living in that house before and apparently managed just fine, as do the rest of us who have close neighbors and lack privacy fences. In her hissy fit, she missed a golden opportunity to show one of her detractors what a normal, average person she could be.

I’d also take exception to “her” Department of Natural Resources, but I think we are just about to see what “her” commissioner Tom Irwin’s activities and “her” policies really mean to the state of Alaska when it comes to oil and gas development, and it isn’t going to be pretty.

Let’s see how long it takes for those cookies to wear off, and the real Sarah Palin to slime through. Not long, and the thought of her faking it for a neighbor, ALL SUMMER LONG, is just crackin; me up!

Joe, you had a mandation to do this. If nothing else, you are going to throw her off her game. McGinnis tried to WIN that dinner with her, and I understand that the auction was rigged to make that impossible. So, now I think this worked out really well

Pardon me. One, Palin put her children in play when she dragged the poor Down’s Syndrome ALL OVER the United States of America during the campaign. Second, Bristol and Levi were a huge story during the campaign to show the world that “they are a ‘wholesome, loving family’. Three, Palin made a big stink about her oldest son going into the military to fight against terrorism and to protect our freedoms. Fourth, Palin jumped all over Letterman for an honest mistake he made about the mixup of her two daughters. Fifth, one of her daughters got pregnant out of wedlock — which blew her family values and holier than thou persona out of the water. Now Sixth, Palin is “alleging” that McGinniss will somehow be spying on her daughters during playtime, undressing, blah, blah, blah. Palin continues to say things that do NOT make sense. This is an accomplished writer who is on his game. He probably is sickened by the fact that he is commissioned to having to write the book on such a trashy subject. I think we need to feel sorry for McGinniss; not for Palin and her family. So it was and will always be Palin who is responsible for constantly putting her family into the national discussion. He is doing his d@mn job. That’s part of being an author Diane! He does not need or deserve to be ridiculed by this garbage woman and her trashy family.

BTW, it’s German Shepherds. And hopefully, he’s armed to protect himself from people like you, Palin and your ridiculous attack dogs. Why in the world are dogs needed?? If you read the article, he’s going basically about town to learn more about her. Nowhere in the story did it state that he is going to disrupt her, knock on her door, ask for cooking seasonings, etc. You pulled that right out of your dumb, Palin-like brain to try to fester something that does not exist. You make me sick. Stick to the story and stop creating crap!

Todd traspassed when he went onto the neighbor’s property to see who was in the house. They invaded his privacy by photgraphing him, and again by publishing it. And again by pubishing his name and address without his permission.
By putting the informatin on line first Sarah has given McGinnis an opening to tweet or blog about her all summer if he wants, though I suspect he won’t unless they start to threaten him or personally confront him.

Opps. Sarah you just lost the ball while dribbling on the way to driving to the winning basket. No, the other kind of dribble, as in her brain has sprung a leak again.

I bet she is going to be hell to live with for the next 5 months, though I suspect she is already. That one photo of her with her mouth in an unsidedown U and hate glinting out of her eyes says a whole lot about what is inside her, and it is a Big Ugly.

Goodness, she is going to blow a disc is she isn’t careful (as if she is really doing what she claims).

She is so obsessed with sexing-up everything. Menopause is not going to be kind to this woman. She doesn’t have the emotional stability to face the changes it brings. Maybe her pheromones that drive Republican men so wild will fade – and then, what will she have going for her? Certainly not a pleasant personality, a charming wit, or a lovely countenance. She will get, with age, the face she deserves.

I don’t think anyone would want Palin as a neighbor, not with her kids. I don’t think they liked her much in Juneau and she was the Governor living in the Governors mansion. Palin said some rather snarky stuff about her Juneau neighbors and how her girls were threatoned ? Something highly unlikely.

Everything she is, has done, is doing, has said, is saying – everything will be fair game as will Mr. Todd.

How is she going to handle that pressure?

Think how she would react as President and another world leader pops off about her? Would she start a war to avenge her reputation? I would say “honor,” but she has proven time and time again she doesn’t understand what honor means.

Sure, it is understandable that she could be upset. Anyone would be if someone you knew disliked you or was trying to discredit you moved in next door – BUT – and this is the key to why we are dissing her on this: she over-reacted as is her hallmark. She should not have had published that photo, nor should she have slander Mr. McGinnis, Todd should not have trudged over to the rental property unless invited – or should have used the front door. She should not have made those comments implying he would peek into windows – again, I ask folks to look at that photo – her windows seem to sit higher than his so would be the likely peeper?

Anyway, it was her over-the-top, totally crazed and slimy reaction to this that popped our corks and made us fizz in a little laugh fest frenzy.

She disrespected his privacy. She made up slurs and then added-in all the details about her attire, her sacrificial Trig load, and then inserted an implied threat that Todd will get handle him.

Gees, I mean, to be unnerved or uncomfortable is one thing. To go ballistic is quite another.

Sarah is unstable, unqualified to be President or even a political spokesman not only because of her stunning ignorance, but primarily because of her emotional instability. The world is too dangerous to trust our security to a woman who can’t handle neighbor she only perceives as unfriendly minding his own business.

I hope she understands that if any of her family or her followers does anything to harm Mr. McGinnis and his guests or the property itself, she will be held accountable as an accessory for whipping up this hysterical reaction and unnecessarily casting herself and her family as victims – particularly her daughter. That was odiously immature and distasteful.

Why talk about her 9 year olds privacy being compramized. Why talk about it at all. A fence is a fence is a fence. as practical Gertrude Stein would say. Curtains, blinds and shades are available at Walmart. A favorite of Palins.. Problem solved for a few dollars. Though the balcony does not overlook the Palins house, and they never seemed to worry themselves that anyone else could look in their yard at her scrawny hide in flimsy shorts and tops, if she is so inclined to dress. that way at home.

So she is not happy with her new neighbor who is a talented writer who exposed a psychopath and who will expose her completly along with Geoffrey Dunn. Too bad. Maybe she should have been an honest woman. She wouldn’t have to worry about being exposed if she was not a pathological liar.

So now her bots are threatening to make sure no one can ever rent again. Arson is suggested as a problem solver by these morons and sociopaths.

        • 29.2.2.2

I agree with you about a person having an expectation of privacy in their own home. However, when you have neighbors that live that close,no matter who they are, it’s very hard to really keep everything private. I have lots of neighbors and over the years I’ve heard couples fighting, heard them yelling at their kids. I know when they are mowing their lawns or working in their yards. I hear them having parties and hear their dogs barking. It’s part of having neighbors.

My neighbor, who is a great neighbor, put up a tree house a few years ago for her sons. When the boys sit in it, they look right into our back yard and into the kitchen. If I don’t want to keep waving at the five year old, I close the blinds. We live at the bottom of the hill, so I learned a long time ago to not go in the backyard in anything I wouldn’t wear in the front yard or to the store – everyone uphill can see into our back yard if they want.

So, in a way, I can understand Sarah not being happy about an author who is writing a book about her moving next door. However, bringing up that whole thing about Piper is weird. He’s not writing a book about Piper, so why would he even care – and for her to imply that he would spy on a nine year old is what’s creepy.

If Sarah doesn’t have anything to hide, why is she so afraid? Here’s a chance for her to show McGinniss that she is a great mom and the normal ordinary person she claims to be.

Besides, she’s hardly ever home, so he’s not going to see much anyway. And since she usually takes Piper with her, no worries there.

Wouid anyone have even known Joe was her new neighbor if *she* hadn’t trumpeted it on the proverbial ‘town square’? Sure, maybe a couple-three dozen folks might’ve known he had rented that particular house, but by *her* announcing it [in all her imagined-gory/delusional/paranoid details] on FB, *she* is playing, again, the ‘poor me – the lefties keep invading my privacy and keep going after my children’ card.

Question: Is it that someone has moved into the house next door OR is it that a person *she* doesn’t like (Joe), has rented and moved into the house next door? What, really, is getting her panties in a wad?

Wouldn’t *anyone* renting a property cheek-by-jowl near her house be able to see (if so inclined) all that was going on in her yard and/or through her uncurtained/unblinded windows…or is it just Joe who would be able to do that? Would she be ranting and snarking on FB if the renter had been anyone *other than* Joe? I *highly* doubt it.

Sorry, DK, it can’t be both ways – it can’t be claimed that the person(s) renting the next door house is somehow intruding on “not just her house, [but] her HOME and the home of her family” if she’s not uttered a peep [which, she, apparently, has *not*] about renters of that particular property until Joe happened to rent it. Would she rush to FB to ‘out’ me and mine if we had rented the house? Would she have posted on FB *my* picture, if I had rented it? I *highly* doubt that, too.

And, like it or not, Joe’s home for the next five months is the place he has rented on the lake…he should be accorded the *same* respect from $P as *she* expects from him. Her posting his picture –on the deck of *his* home!, to boot– on her FB page, is *not* the way to go about showing that respect. Conjuring up wild imaginationings of what evil and twisted things he *might* do while he’s there, surely is not.

Does Joe, as a renter, have a right to feel insulted and violated by $Ps ‘outing’ him to millions on FB? In my book: You betcha! What *she* did was/is *totally* uncalled for…although, I must say, it *does* play, oh, so very well, into her whole well-cultivated and well-nurtured: “Love me; send me money; I’m a victim,” ethos. I’m not sure but what you, too, fell for it? beth.

Other than Sarah herself, has anyone ELSE stated that the book is definitely going to be negative? Because the title (to me) doesn’t come across that way. ‘Sarah Palin’s Year of Living Dangerously’ connotes a brave epic; or at least certainly sounds less negative than… oh… say, the title ‘Going Rogue’. But maybe that’s just me.

As a person with a paranoid disposition, DK, I imagine that, if you were in Sarah’s place, you would wonder if ANY renter of that property was snooping, and would have taken the proper precautions to minimize any casual opportunity as soon as the thought occurred to you.

But then, I doubt you would have constructed so close to your neighbor’s property line. I know I wouldn’t, and I’m not particularly suspicious (just shy!)

FWIW, (and this is just my own opinion) I’d rather know my neighbor is nosy, rather than just suspect that he is. That kinda’ thing eats at you, ya’ know?

Most of us are not living in guarded compounds or so private as to exclude anyone seeing our activities out of doors. She can dress anyway she chooses. What is she so afraid of?

I think Maginnes has every right to his rental. He hasn’t done anything wrong. He hasn’t intruded on the Palins. Except in her imagination. And her peculiar preoccupations with her daughters sexuality. There isn’t a hint of pedophilia in the writers background or life. Why would he spy on Piper? Curtains from Walmart would take care of that in an hour.

No one knows what happens inside Palins house, except for her paid Magazine covers and her T.V. interviews with Matt Lauer, Greta van Susterin. She invites the world inside her home. So much for my home is my castle. And privacy. She shows what she wants to show publicly.

His rental is for 5 months more, and who knows who will rent it after that. If she was smart she would buy the damned house. She is rich enough.

I personally don’t think living next door to Sarah for 5 months is going to give him much to write about. Sarah also, unwittingly, just gave him some good publicity for his book, if he is writting one. By writting what she did in her FB, also rewarded him by showing her anger towards him moving next door, which is probably exactly why he moved next door to her, just to get on her nerves. Also too, if any harm does come to him, or the property, Sarah should be held responsible. Some of her fans and the people she attracts, seem to be somewhat mentally unstable and could easily do harm to him just to help out Sarah out, who they worship. I also wouldn’t be surprised if that is the reason she put it in her FB.

Do I think this was a “nice” thing to do (i.e., would I do it)? No. It’s clearly a provocation. In some mitigation, it could hardly happen to a more deserving provokee than the Mistress of Slurs.

Does Palin have a right to be upset, and broadcast that emotion? Of course, just as she would have the same right no matter who the neighbor was, and just as mudpuppies have the same right with respect to Palin.

Do I think that Joe rented the house so he can “spy” on the Palins? I gather from some of your prior comments that you believe this to be the case, but I think it’s an absurd idea. If one sets out to spy on somebody, one does not proceed by publicly renting the neighboring house.

As a thought experiment, how far away do you think would be an acceptable rental location for someone writing a negative book about you?

BTW, I disagree with you when you say that celebrities “shouldn’t have to” acquire isolation if they want privacy. My disagreement is based on my understanding of the meaning of the word “celebrity”. It is not the same thing as “famous person” or “public figure”. A celebrity is someone who is routinely “celebrated” by the media, and is almost always an active participant (at least partly famous for being famous).

You have to choose to be a celebrity, if the opportunity presents itself, and if you do so choose, one of the consequences is some loss of privacy. Another is the need to put some serious distance between your outer wall and your lot line if you want privacy at home.

        • 29.3.1.2

Again, I get your point. But if he is writing a book about her, then he just hit the jackpot. And since the house was for rent and he had a choice of where to live, any good investigative writer/reporter (which he seems to be), would do the same. He’s free to rent wherever he finds a place and she can’t do anything to stop him. Until he posts photos of her or writes personal things about what she and her family are doing in their house, she has no grounds for complaining. It makes her look paranoid and rather silly.

Now, that’s not to say that he won’t do those things. Should she be wary of him living there? Probably. But not because he can see into Piper’s room (still creepy on all levels), but because he will have closer access to seeing what Sarah is up to.

Again, though – if she has nothing to hide, she shouldn’t be worried. She should take the opportunity to show him that she is the wonderful person she keeps telling the world she is. My guess, however, is that she does have things to hide. The woman doth protest too much. And if she is hiding something and he figures it out, I hope he does tell everyone what it is. DK, of course she has a right to be upset, but how she reacts to that upsetness is what is telling here.

She invokes, completely out of the blue, sexual imagery and suggests the man is a perv who will be gawking at her young daughter in her bedroom. There is zero evidence for that . She inserts the sex into it, which I find very inappropriate, unprofessional, maternal, or presidential.

There is very good reason to believe the details she is relating are mostly lies – lawnmowing, after just getting back from weeks of travel, Trig on backpack (egads, how unsafe is that?), garden …. what garden?). And the stuff about the pie and the cup of sugar is just pure sarcastic snark, indicating a brain that hasn’t emotionally matured since about 10th grade.

Does she have a right to be upset? Yes, but she should also expect to be judged by how she handles her feelings. She made this public on Facebook, which says she is more afraid of not having her name in the newscycle than any threat from the neighbor. Otherwise, why wouldn’t she and Todd just deal with it personally or with local law enforcement as (if) appropriate?

Any neighbor there could see into their yard on their own deck. If they want their privacy, they need to make whatever legal improvements to their property they can do to insure that. They have plenty of money to do so.

Basically, in other words, the Palin’s could simply have built the big fence without announcing it to the world.

So one has to ask, why would she write such a piece? If she and Todd were going to build a fence (my parents built a fence, and we weren’t even as close to the next house as they are), why personally publicize it? What is the reason?

Apparently the neighbors decided to leave their modest home on the lake. Now they have rented it to a famous writer for the summer. They have that freedom. I am sure the intention was to see what she would do, which is not polite but –
If she believes in the rants of Rant Paul, the neighbor had the right as a private business person to contract with anyone they wanted to and she should be good with that.

All she has to do is act like an adult, and not make a public spectacle of herself.

She had an opportunity to make a positive impression on her neighbor, and she blew that out the window the first day.

Let’s not kid ourselves that Sarah isn’t loving the attention, and loving the chance to erect another martyr’s cross in her own mind.

Obama would have asked the new neighbor over for hamburgers and a beer.
Salomon would have done something similar.

Christ would have stood on the steps of the Temple and debated with the new neighbor.

Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt at great risk to their lives and with much strained trust, sat down together to end a war.

    - An IDIOT makes $12 million from doing nothing but spitting out the same speech at each event, but with different wigs.

    - A freaking oil spill from hell that just won’t stop and NO ONE knows how to bloody turn it OFF. –

    - Unemployment STILL hovering around 9% and the people in charge can’t agree to EXTEND unemployment benefits.

    - MORE Idiots on Fox News making us scared all day every day about everyone and everything around us – they may as well put up posters everywhere saying “Do you have feet? Then you MIGHT DIE!!”

    - The new immigration law in AZ is just a powder keg waiting to explode.

    - Some idiot who is running to be KY Senator actually had a problem with corporations NOT being able to turn away non-whites, the government being meanies to BP and who described the Massey mine accident and the Oil Spill from Hell as “accidents” that “happen”.

But, of course, fear is the favorite flavor of the right-wingnuts and she always seems to bring up sexual comments in connection with her kids so this should come as no surprise.

Between dragging Piper all over creation, putting her in overly-mature, inappropriate clothing (HOW much was that purse?) and talking about several different sexual scenarios involving several of her children, she’s done some potentially serious damage to that child. From a structural standpoint, it isn’t practical to build a wooden or vinyl solid fence more than about 12 ft high because the wind will eventually blow it over. If you look at Palin’s stalker picture and the aerial pictures there is already a fence between the two houses that stops at the red shed. There is probably a certain number of feet setback from the lake and I’ll bet the edge of the red shed is right at that limit. This teen aged face book comment is the response to an author moving next door for a few months. We all know that Sarah cannot handle criticism, jokes or unscripted gotcha questions. She exercises almost total control over everything, so this unexpected snag has really thrown her for a loop. Great cred for a presidential candidate.

The Matanuska Valley history has a lot more to it than Wasilla, which is a fairly new community. My mother’s family is from the Valley, her grandmother relocated there after an unhappy life with Baptists who had removed her from her native family near Kodiak. I hope Mr. McGinnis does go into the true history of the area, people write mostly of the Colonists (dust bowl farmers transplanted to Alaska) and not the Natives.

This is why a lot of people will want to be a part of that book. Old families like to establish themselves in history, new ones want to share their dreams for their futures. Wasilla was populated in a completely different way than Palmer, and I’d like to know a lot more about that. Sarah’s info is poison and not one thing out of her mouth believable. I’ve been as upset about her rewriting Mat Valley history to suit her needs as anything else – much of my family is still there.

The Palins, if they have an ounce of good sense will make sure that everybody knows that this man and his property are not to be touched and that he is well received and well treated.

Whatever they do it will end up in his journals and notes.

He is probably smart enough to make sure that each day’s work is backed up somewhere out of reach of Wasilla, hackers and anybody but his agent or family or publisher.

Basically, he is black mailing Sarah et al., and Wasilla etc into good behavior whether they want to or not.

Any harm that comes to him or his property will end up at Sarah’s feet.

I thought she was an Ayn Rand Paul supporter, you know freedom to do what you like, like renting a summer house in the cool Alaskan summer.

Isn’t it interesting that in a state as large as and lightly populated as Alaska that these two house are jammed as close together as row houses in any city.

Wasn’t Sarah renting that house at some point? Not sure where i read it, or when, but I seem to recall some sort of conversation about her renting the house next door. If that’s true, this is her own fault for not continuing to do so. *shrug*
As for Mr. McGinniss, whether or not he’s writing a book, he’s sure brave renting that house. After she so publicly commented on it like she did, I certainly hope he is careful. There will be watchful eyes on HIS every move, you can bet. I’d also hope he is on the lookout any of her rabid fans. Who knows what one might do. I’m sure he thought this was a cute thing to do, after the brouhaha from the auction and everything since then. Maybe he can get a photo of her actually at a desk, typing into a computer, “writing” her own material…..

Everyone that has a tale will bring it to him, gift-wrapped with plenty of down home quotes and easily verified. What an assignment!
She really does imagine herself to be quite the sex symbol…Daddy has certainly been pushing that point…ahem! That is too creepy, yuck.
Because she sleeps alone most of the time, she is obviously sexually frustrated…announcing it in every post and outing in some form. Poor Sarah…oh so sexy and oh so unfulfilled…tsk tsk, couldn’t happen to a more deserving “fixated at 13 yrs old” mentality, a sick female trying to slime our President across the country and insulting every brain that breathes.

If what he writes is true, and so far I’ve seen nothing to indicate it isn’t true, why call it a “negative” book? Why not just call it a plain old book? Did he move in there to totally p**s her off? More than likely, but so what? If she has nothing to hide she wouldn’t be upset by a book, right?

And yes, she is a one-woman weirdo squad. Hauling Piper around all the time makes you wonder why Willow doesn’t get a chance to travel with her. And using Trig to show what a good woman she is, raising a baby with DS is just cruel to Trig. Good moms don’t use their children to make themselves look good. They don’t single one or two children out and ignore the rest. They love their children equally and are equally proud of all of them.

That’s exactly what she counts on…most of the time. Then you have those who face down the bullies with laughter and really smart counter moves. The more they freak, the more attention his book will get, he knows this.

What’s freakin’ out Sarah is not that he’s going to look in her windows, it’s that he’s going to get the town to talkin’. She’s blowing smoke, as usual – it’s always been her tactic to attack and encourage others to do so in her name. She’ll try to keep the focus on Joe for awhile – but the real tell is the rest of the town. No one is interested in Piper’s window, but Sarah will play that one up and a million more before she’s through. Hmmmm…she’s through. That has such a nice ring to it! 87. 88
Martha Unalaska Yard SignNo Gravatar says:

Another thing that would just be glorious is for her to go too far in her accusations – like the Piper window comment. That’s grounds for legal action if so desired…

Now, she can fly away all summer and go pukespeak for money to hide from the writer – but then that leaves the mice to play while the cat’s away. And summer in Alaska is something you live for all year long (most of us), so this is really gonna throw a monkey wrench in that enjoyment if she stays.

“Should I go? Should I stay? Why won’t this evil man just go away? Waaaaaaahhhh, I want my daddy!”
