You did it again, Fly! How about one somehow bringing in the mis-quote SP gave to John Wooden?
He just passed away at the grand old age of 99. I hope I leave this earth with folks thinking that well of me! Must have been a great human being.

(AKM, you can probably remember the quote I’m referring to, which was actually said by a native American, not John Wooden the UCLA basketball coach.) Since SP and Coach Wooden are both basketball connected, I though Fly could come up with a stinger! (Although those two really shouldn’t me even mentioned in the same sentence!)

Yeah, it’s not likely she’d give a brown-skin that kind of credit – she sees through Native people like they weren’t there. Token Todd had their Administration pass over a Native childhood friend for a citizens panel even though she was qualified. They both use his nativeness when their narrative calls for it, otherwise it is a non-issue, just like feminism.

RIP Coach, sorry you had to be associated in any way to a woman famous for quitting.

I love the pics of sp — very telling. I live in Minnesota which has the wonderful boundary waters, beautiful change of seasons, land of 10,000 lakes and, unfortunately, michelle bachmann. I would suggest doing something with bachmann and palin — twin (idiots) separated at birth. Their combined IQ must be less than the average adult, they have the same inability to put a complete sentence together, total disregard for factual data, and blather endlessly. Just a thought . . . Telling, isn’t it, that Wally Hickel rated a brief (less than 140 characters or is it 240?) while Coach Wooden – an extremely worthy person in his own right – got a full page of Facebook effusiveness.

Alex Haley once said something along the lines of: “when an old person dies, it’s as if a small library has burned to the ground.” A good reminder to me to appreciate and honor those who I hold dear, while I can.

Love your insight as always Nan.

It is hard to stomach the odd lies of Sarah, she’s pouring it on that both she and Todd had Coach Wooden’s quotes and playbook highlights on their person, lockers, notebooks and such.

This is as believable as Sarah naming Bristol after ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, CT, when Todd’s heritage and supplemental income comes from the Bristol Bat region. Again, the story could have Alaskan authenticity, but she just had to expand the base to the elite Eastern State corporation. When does the sports channel become a part of Lamestream Media Sarah? When they won’t do a sprecial on your three baskets and foul-ridden high school championship record?

It’s not her limited exposure, it’s her limited beliefs. She has no imagination, or empathy – she cannot see what others see, and she cannot understand possibilities beyond her dogma. There is no mystery to her – only blatant disregard for civilized behavior & overblown hubris due to arrested development and being coddled. She’s street smart, but common sense stupid. Behind the scenes, she’s a disaster.

Palin says she and Todd plastered Wooden’s quotes on bulletin boards and notebooks during their school years, so when they met thirty years ago, they knew they had something in common. By 1980, Coach Wooden was already a legend. His sayings were probably more widely known then among sports enthusiasts than they are now.

On the other hand, if either Palin had tried to play for Coach Wooden, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have gotten past the “how to put your shoes on” part. He was more “No Drama” than Obama.

Great picture! I think the title does fit as she denies the truth about anything listed at the bottom of the picture. I’ve often wondered what it would be like to live in Sarah Palin’s world where there is no global warming, no evolution, no room for women to make their own choices, no . . . Argh – then I wake up and realize what a nightmare I’ve been in.

    Hello my Peeps… er Pups!

Just a bit on news for the open thread. I have decided that since I cannot find work, I need to volunteer. So, with my background, I went to a Horse Retirement Farm today and had a volunteer orientation. At the end, I said, “So what next? Can I come in tomorrow morning?” The director looked at me like she had never heard this before and said, “SURE! It’s going to be raining, though.” I immediately thought how sad it was that she has to take care of 26 old and decrepit horses alone (or mostly alone) on a rainy Sunday morning because people are afraid to get wet??? I told her I’d see her in the barn at 7:30 sharp!

I love horses, I miss my old decrepit mare who I lost to chronic laminitis 4 years ago, and I can’t wait to get my hands on these lovely animals. I told her I’d love to get some horse massages in while I was there, too. They’ll love it on their old arthritic joints and sore muscles.

I’m hoping this opens up a little good karma. If not, then it’s still a good thing ;) Have a good weekend.

It happened to me and led me through an unexpected and surprising journey to where I am today…a job that I love that has an enormous impact on others. I was telling a colleague a story the other day and she stopped me to comment about what an interesting life I’ve had. I never thought about it that way but I suppose she’s right. Wonderful depiction. it sums up the philosophy of Tea-bagers. Ludites who believe the world is still flat. The tragedy permeates schools, short changing seeking minds of understanding solutions to real problems. SP’s narrow focus should be rejected out of hand, but so many of her followers have poisoned their minds with the fog of creationism, that by the time a crisis hits, it’s the blind leading the blind. They wrap themselves in the flag of patriotism justifying their altered universe. In the end it’s a steady road to distruction of our planet, i.e. Gulf of Mexico.

She has Alaskan connections. I didn’t think that she would hang out with folks like the Palins though. She tended towards the “old money” Alaskan types. Seems like Sarah and Todd might be buying themselves into being somewhat accepted into those types of circles now, but I can’t help but think that the old money types will never accept them wholeheartedly.

The East Coast is a dog eat dog world when it comes to money and 12 million ain’t gonna get you a seat at the best tables, unless you are the comic relief. Every fancy dinner needs a court jester and the Palin’s might just fit that requirement.

Well folks, Arizona’s done it again!

A mural depicting children being more ‘green’ is causing all sorts of ruckus in Prescott because of the color of the skin on the the main child, which some people feel is too dark. The child in question was taken from photos of students in that school and is Hispanic. The director of the mural project said he and other artists were subjected to racial slurs from passing motorists as they worked, often while children were present. The principal of the school asked the artist to “make the children’s faces appear happier and brighter.”

“In a broadcast last month, according to the Daily Courier in Prescott, [City Councilman] Blair mistakenly complained that the most prominent child in the painting is African-American, saying: “To depict the biggest picture on the building as a Black person, I would have to ask the question: Why?”

Blair could not be reached for comment Thursday. In audio archives of his radio show, Blair discusses the mural. He insists the controversy isn’t about racism but says the mural is intended to create racial controversy where none existed before.”

Screaming racial epithets and asking to have the skin of the children lightened…yeah, that’s not racist at all.

Do we need to have the EPA come in and test the water or air in Arizona because SOMETHING is making a whole lotta people there go batsh!t crazy!
