Tiptoeing Through the Muck of Alaskan Politics

Quote of the Day from the Guy Who Beat Joe Miller in 2004

Senate Republican Tea Party candidate Joe Miller has never been elected to public office.  He thinks it would be fun to try it out in the United States Senate, representing Alaska.  He did try once to run for state representative but he got beaten by a great Democrat, David Guttenberg.  So what does he have to say about Miller?

I beat this fool when he ran against me in 2004. Miller speaks drivel. He clearly cares nothing about the lives of Alaskans just about this constitutional double talk. If I was a Tea Party supporter, I would worry about this guy being my champion. I believe he is a career wanna-be big high mucky muck, who wants to be in charge of you life.

Yeah, kinda what I thought.

Can I throw up? I am having a hard time today watching the votes come in…hoping that Lisa Murkowski ca either beat this douche bag or how in the hell can Scott McAdams pull this one off? God I have a massive headache. Spent the last couple of days up in Fairbanks listening to women voice their concerns about this guy and then the folks out in Bethel, are very alarmed at what has just gone down. Am I angry? Damn right I am angry!

A bit of editing is in order. I detect some typos.

I must have missed something obvious on the vote tally site because I am not sure how many of the ballots are still being counted. I think Lisa has closed in just a bit from the larger lead earlier today, but still seems about where she was yesterday in terms of spread and percentage.

Well, I think everyone is going to energized to get out the vote for McAdams. I’d love to see the spirited people of Alaska shove the money back up the nose of the Kochs and Beck (who is also funding the race through his PAC I’ve heard). I hope people will tell those big money folks that they cannot buy Alaskan votes.

    Yes We Can.

I understand some strategy that if Miller wins, he probably will be easier to beat by the Democrat in the general election, but geez …. this does not sound good. And if you think the Koch’s and the Tea Partiers fed this primary with money, just wait until the general election.

I hope he wins, and I hope he goes on to make a colossal mess in the US Senate for six long, gory years. Because then maybe, just maybe moderate Alaskans might get a f***ing clue. As in getting their butts into the voting booth.

Murkowski HQ is doing a press conference in a few minutes. Can’t IMAGINE they are going to concede w/ votes still uncounted, there are whole districts left uncounted.

Per the local news: The Miller campaign today put out a press release that said that “Monkey Business” had gone on at the Div. of Elections in regard to the ballots. Local news just interviewed Lt. Gov who said that the Miller Campaign took his quote out of context, that he (Lt. Gov) never alluded to Monkey Business, and the campaign should not have stated that in a press release.
Then the news anchor had Miller on air live and asked him what he thought of his campaign putting out that press release alleging “monkey business” when in fact, it had been disproven. Miller responded “We have every confidence in this electoral process” (said in about 3 different ways), while never addressing the question. Duck and Dodge, just like his mentor Sarah.

Thanks for Guttenberg’s “straight talk” quote, AKM. “Miller speaks drivel.” Three words, five syllables, sums it up.

Murkowski just conceded. In spite of her politics, especially recently, she’s always taken the high road and showed a lot of class. Miller, by comparison, is a knuckle-dragging mouth-breather.

Still typos, unless there is a new webpage competing with youtube called “you life”.

The gist of it, however, is clear. Gotta love mucky-mucks.

How refreshing to here a politician actually say what he thinks about someone. Wish they would all be so honest.

And I’m amazed that Murkowski is conceding if all the votes aren’t counted. Seems too early.

Exactly! Despite their talk of freedom and liberty, all these tea-party a**holes want to “be the boss of” everyone else. If it were still legal (and I bet many of them think it should be), they would want to OWN some of the rest of us.

On his website, Miller advertises his loss to Guttenberg as if it were some kind of victory– on the basis it was a close race. But it was still a loss. Gotta love the salesmanship of these people–they do try very hard to turn negatives into positives. Great for used car sales; not so great for statesmen.
