Rasmussen Poll–44% already for Scott McAdams!

By LKB

Excellent news for reasonable Alaskans!

This survey was conducted Tuesday night just hours after incumbent GOP Senator Lisa Murkowski conceded the Republican nomination during a recount of the August 24 primary. Miller, a lawyer and military veteran, benefited from support from the state’s former governor Sarah Palin and Tea Party activists.

Ninety percent (90%) of Democrats back McAdams while 79% of Republicans throw their vote behind Miller. McAdams holds a 22-point lead among voters not affiliated with either major political party.

The new numbers move this race from Solid Republican to Leans Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power.

Why is being 6 points behind Joe Miller incredibly good news?

1) The Tea Party Express spent almost $600,000 in the LAST 10 DAYS BEFORE THE PRIMARY ELECTION! That’s how they took it away from Lisa Murkowski.

2) Joe Miller has now had numerous appearances and interviews on national media shows.

3) Scott McAdams has had NO advertising and very little media exposure–what exposure he’s had has been been local.

4) Scott McAdams definitely has not had any celebrity endorsements as of yet.

5) Accurate polling in Alaska primaries is almost impossible. No one knows which primary non-partisan Alaskans will choose to vote in (they can choose either the Republican or the “Open”–Democrats and everyone else). However, this is the general election which is not hindered by that difficulty. Polling numbers are usually much more accurate.

6) Rasmussen, as a rule, tends to trend more conservative.

The information I find to be most important is this:

Ninety percent (90%) of Democrats back McAdams while 79% of Republicans throw their vote behind Miller. McAdams holds a 22-point lead among voters not affiliated with either major political party.

What this says is a) Rasmusson polls must be dominated by Republicans to get these results, and b) WE MUST GET THE NON-PARTISAN VOTER TO THE POLLS!

Let’s get to work!

Nice starting point. Lets improve on that. Talk to everyone and let the facts and statements by Miller bury him.

Rasmussen “tending” conservative tends a bit towards understatement!

      M BakerNo Gravatar says:

I agree. Rasmussen always favor the conservatives. If Miller is favored by 6%, I’d estimate that there about even. It seems that Rasmussen is generally off by that much in favor of the Conservatives. The next poll will show that they are even or McAdams is even slightly ahead of Miller.

McAdams holds a 22 point lead among voters who are not affilliated? That is the majority of Alaskans!

      merlinAKNo Gravatar says:

Yeah, Lisa thought she was winning by a comfortable margin because of the polls. I certainly hope McAdams can brave the onslaught to come. This is going to be dirty and mean. I look at Miller and see an opportunist who will do anything to get what he wants.

Money bomb time? Or will Alaskans resent outsiders contributing? How do Alaska Natives trend? How can we help from far away?

      JohnNo Gravatar says:

Joke Miller got most of his money from Outside, so I don’t think he can complain if Scott gets his share also, too. In addition to money, star talking about Scott whenever and whereever possible. Start that national buzz about him being the next Senator from the Great State of Alaska. You can’t see Russia from Sitka, but you can see a Russian Orthodox Church.

      MadelineNo Gravatar says:

That’s my question, any rich people out there who hate Palin and would REALLY, REALLY like to piss her off? We need to get them to back Scott, just like the Koch brothers are backing Miller. There’s a fundraiser tomorrow night,we need to get cracking! If Glenn Beck can have a PAC, so can we.

Nellcote, with Diane Benson, the First Native Woman to run for the Office of Lt. Governor, it will energize rural Alaskans to get out the vote.

When Ethans term is up she will be the First Alaska Native Woman elected to the Office of Governor.

        Desa,
Do Native Alaskans tend to vote as a block? Can most of their issued be addressed enmass or do tribes have distinctive problems? One of the things I liked about the Obama campaign is that he had stickers and buttons saying “Native Americans for Obama”. I like very much that he reached out.

I donate to Senators who need to be re-elected, no matter where they are from. Grayson, Feingold and the rest of the good ones who care about the people of this country. PLEASE do contribute to McAdams! He will be a voice for the average person- it doesn’t matter where you are from. His vote for good will effect everyone in this country.

You can bet that Tea Party money is mostly from out of Alaska. We don’t have a large population or lots of money in Alaska. So you know it isn’t from here.

And your money goes SO far when donating to Alaskan candidates! Remember, $100 here is like $2000 in Texas!

If you have any influence with the campaign please get them working on his website! He needs to talk specifically about more issues and they need to offer bumperstickers and stuff to get more donations coming in and his name out there. Put up some videos of him talking about Alaska and talking to regular people about their problems and what he wants to do for them in DC. There’s just not much there and people are going to be interested in his campaign to stick it to Palin as well as to elect a good guy to the Senate.

AKM — I easily remember that. More like $6,000 in Cali. I just hate that it’s like that.

Nevertheless, I have thrown a ben towards Scott.

The bigger trick is to convince the DNC, etc, to dump some major bucks into this election. A thousand of me is still a tiny fraction of what the Kochs can deploy.

  6. 6
    Zoom ZoomNo Gravatar says:

I am voting for the first time in any election for the Dem side. Parnell is a Palinista just like Miller.

I imagine the turnout for this next round will be considerably over 27% of the voting public.

  7. 7
    Bill R.No Gravatar says:

Good news! This is doable for Scott McAdams as Alaskans get to know him as one of their own, and as they reflect on what life might be without their social security retirement, their Medicare health coverage, and their unemployment insurance, among other things.

  8. 8
    Desa JacobssonNo Gravatar says:

I got polled, have no party affiliation, am a “Little Old Lady On Social Security, an Alaska Native Woman and I’m a supervoter! My vote will go to McAdams and Ethan.

  9. 9
    MNo Gravatar says:

Not to nitpick, but this poll was done how many “hours” after Lisa announced? Because didn’t she announce at around 6 pm? That seems a little strange to start conducting a poll even at 8pm.

    YAHOOOOO!!!!

I do not live in Alaska…or Kentucky, or Nevada, or Iowa, or….but I do live in the USA and these tea folks have me scared to death. They challenge everything I believe in and pose a threat to the world that I think my grandchildren deserve. The kind that respects people of all religions, that cares about those who have less or are in need, top notch education, etc

So I have contributed to McAdams campaign. Not much…5 or 10…and I will continue to do so.

I hope no one in Alaska minds…I really don’t think McAdams does.

    mormokNo Gravatar says:

A great way to help turn out undecided and left leaning voters is to volunteer with your local state house and senate democratic candidates. Each district is working hard to mobilize voters and that brings more let leaning voters to the polls across the state, which means McAdams gets the people he needs to the polls. The Alaska Democratic Party does a great job coordinating it’s campaigns.

    MudflatsfanNo Gravatar says:

  13. 13
    MegaeraNo Gravatar says:

Scott, I don’t know you but I already love you.I have contributed to your campaign. So take this in the spirit in which it is intended. Spiff up–get a senatorial make-over and get out there. Don’t let up a single second from now until the day Joe Miller concedes.

  14. 14
    PolarbearNo Gravatar says:

As of Aug 31, the turnout for the election was only 31.9% of all registered voters. About 10.8% of all registered voters supported Miller, and about 10.5% supported Murkowski. Murkowski did not get her voters to the polls.

  15. 15
    M BakerNo Gravatar says:

Alaskan’s can’nt under estimate Miller. He’s a junk yard dog and will use the same tactics he found successfull against Murkowski. McAdams has to be prepared for Miller and be able to debate Miller who appeared very confident against Murkowski. I hope Murkowski comes out and endorses McAdams after what Miller sad about her.

    SAM HALLNo Gravatar says:

McAdams was on R.Maddow tv..tonight..very crediable important responses as to his experience
and what he supports..very important as to the issues at hand and his views. to mention only
    a few..he is for social security..for medicare…then think Miller..good grief..does wack job describe
him as Palin was once called by her political advisor..seems very close. Medicare etc. is really
quite a dismal situation in Alaska from what I have read..a senior citizen unless very well heeled
or with a doctor for 20 years might have to fly to the state of Washington for needed medical care.
While a doctor tried to find answers to this and there are a very few already to overworked doctors
there that will accept Medicare it does not seem yet to have any real in place working conditions.
Everyone if they live long enough will be a senior citizen ..not all will be well heeled..in todays
economic situations with the high costs of private health insurance and ever rising medical costs..
this issue would seem to be quite important and for all. Again McADAMS no doubt should be
the very next Alaska senator..he knows all the issues…fishing..government experience etc.
for all of the Palin spin ..common sense…this is the guy who actually has this.

Just saw mcAdams on Rachel. Sigh, I hate to say it but he seemed canned and flat, just repeating his talking points. He sorely needs professional campaign management. And for Gods sake we don’t want to see his undershirt peeking out. I dearly want him to win, but let’s acknowledge it’s an uphill battle!

    Zoom ZoomNo Gravatar says:

I agree. Miller is too much a smooth talker (Without the smooth part) yet McAdams with his homespun personality needs to up his game. I am at this point not voting for McAdams as much as I am voting against Miller. With a couple months to go the fear of Miller after he reinvents himself will have many forgetting he is dangerous. A lot of work to be done.

  24. 24
    DavidinEagleRiverNo Gravatar says:

44% this early in the campaign is impressive! My advice to Scott is to keep the campaign positive. The Rachel Maddow interview was a good start, but try to refrain from referring to your opponent as a “character”. Let others demean him, if you will, but stay focused on being the voice of reason and moderation. Play to the middle and you just may pull off a victory.

  25. 25
    MegaeraNo Gravatar says:

I alluded to this yesterday when I said (in love) he needs a senatorial makeover. Look at Miller and Palin–they’re idiots. But they are confident, well-dressed idiots.I will vote for Scott no matter what but we have other people to sway.

  26. 26
    blankchickenNo Gravatar says:

Lisa Murkowski should switch parties and ask Scott McAdams to step aside and let her run on the Democratic ticket. Wilson is going to put moderates in the Alaska voting booth in large numbers (finally), and she’d be part of a Senate majority that is probably going to hold.

I went to bed early the other night and, as usual when I do that, I woke up at 1:00 am. Tried to fall back asleep, but hopeless. So, picked up my laptop to check the overnight news. When I saw that Murkowski had conceded I almost fell out of bed. Got my bearings, grabbed my laptop, found McAdams website and made a donation.

How many others did the same? :-)

It’s such a bizarre-o election. McAdams sounds more like the guy Palin claims she would back. Not Joe the Slickster Elite-y guy.
