        Count me in on that! I can’t believe people would be so stooopid to vote the same people who created this mess we’re in back into office. Isn’t that the definition of insanity…doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome!

        I’ve got to believe that the Republicans have alienated (pun absolutely intended) sooo many different voting blocks that the Dems might just have a decent chance of pulling this one out. My big concern is that the frustration felt by many on the left at the President for not completely fixing EVERY catastrophic problem we had in his first 18 months will translate into many of them staying home and not voting.

    I love my bacon (when I indulge) and I love my chocolate (occasionally).

    But, so sorry, the two just don’t mix in any way I can imagine. Sounds gross. But then again, when it’s a fair people will go with any new fangled ‘invention’. Still, seems gross and cholesterol intense. Maybe they are trying to attract Teabaggers?

    Come hither
    Ya plump Teabaggers
    Have we got a ware for you.
    High cholesterol, no worries
    High sugar
    More pork
    Will do what your Rep. pals seek to do.

    Such thrill to reduce in the needs
    To eliminate Medicare & Social Securities
    Reduce your pensions
    Increase your age requirements.
    It works so much better
    If you just die before rich folks have to pay
    More taxes
    Cause you don’t need money as much as They.

    OK, it’s bad but I never claimed to be a poet.

    I have a friend who has asked that I not send her anything political. So I have respected her wish and have refrained from doing so. Now , I get this message from her. I am very upset and don’t know if I should respond —-or——just ignore her????
    she writes——–

    “Have been watching the political arena with interest and laughter these days. I know where
    you stand but have to say I truly don’t agree with anything I see coming out of Washington these
    days. I honestly feel there are bunch of people in there who really do not know what they
    are doing and I just pray we do not have some disaster which is beyond their ability to
    wade us through. I had so hoped that we would have a leader —- Well maybe the future
    will turn itself around —- sure can’t get any worse than it is at present. People are really
    hurting here in Florida with such a high unemployment rate, libraries closing, etc. etc.
    Times are tough. I am also sick to my stomach with the present administration blaming
    the previous one for EVERYTHING. Looking back in the history of it all, I see that it was
    during the Clinton administration that the Fannie and Freddie plans were installed and it
    was certainly Barney Frank that defended them when concerns arose during Bush’s
    term — all was voted against and hence the meltdown —–such short memories we seem
    to have and what good does it do any of us, really, to blame someone when all that really
    needs to be done is Find A Solution and quit whining around. These people wanted this
    job and said they would change the country, indeed they were going to change the world-
    I love the idealist mode – it sounds so wonderful, like nirvana, but not very realistic I fear.

    I know you dont want to hear stuff like this but some days it all just makes me very, very
    angry. Enough of my venting. Hope you are mending

      I receive occasional letters like this too from old friends who “opt out ” of the political discussion, watching the news, etc. Well, the reality is they are just too damn lazy to keep up with current events and cogitate meaning in their lives. But, curiously, they are usually friends who were pretty self-absorbed to begin with. I think when they do click back in they are pretty simple minded and lack cognitive skills to ferret out B.S.

    Just got this info… so steamed I can’t see straight… so, of course I posted on CBSnews.com with a ditto here.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    When you get right down to it, Sarah Palin has more experience applying to colleges than she does as governor (serving Alaska for 22 months).
    Palin went to 5 colleges, but re-enrolled at one twice. So doesn’t that count as SIX COLLEGES? :
    1). Palin and three friends were to go to the University of Hawaii at Hilo after graduation from high school in Alaska in 1982. But they left after a few weeks… so says “Going Rogue”.
    The registrar at Hawaii-Hilo has no record that she ever enrolled. Public record.
    2). Then, Palin and a friend then traveled to Honolulu and enrolled at Hawaii Pacific University. She attended only as a freshman during the fall of 1982, in the Business Administration program. Public record.
    3). From Hawaii Pacific, Palin then transferred to North Idaho College, a TWO-YEAR school in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She attended this community college in northern Idaho as a general studies major for two semesters, in spring 1983 and fall 1983. Public record.
    4). Palin THEN transferred 70 miles south to the University of Idaho. She majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news, from fall 1984 to spring 1985. Public record.
    5). She then returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer, AK – ANOTHER TWO YEAR SCHOOL – in fall 1985. Public record.
    6). Then, ONCE AGAIN, she returned to the University of Idaho, for spring 1986, fall 1986 and spring 1987, when she graduated.
    Despite her journalism degree, Palin does not appear to have worked for any college newspaper or any campus television station, school officials said. Anyone can verify under FOIA.
    Bottom line, Palin has the attention span of a GNAT. And this is the person you Tea Partiers want holding the nuclear football and standing in front of the Red Button?
    nah…. I don’t THINK so!!
    • 18.1
      Speaking of Sarah’s attention span, after hearing people say she had a short attention span during meetings as both mayor and govenor, I seriously believe she has Attention Deficit Disorder, ADD. If she does, it would also explain her lack of even trying to get up to speed on political issues, and may possibly explain her anger issue people talk about. I haven’t heard anyone but myself talk about this, but I seriously believe it is a very real possibility.
      • 18.2.1
        leenie17No Gravatar says:
        ADD would explain a LOT…about her dubious academic and adminstrative records and about her lack of focus and abysmal social skills.
        My nephew has ADD and he has never been able to stay with a job for more then 5 years. He’s an extremely hard worker and always gets great evaluations, but ends up changing jobs (and usually cities!) on a fairly regular basis. Now he has his own business and is doing much better than he ever did working for others!
        Of course, he’s a lot sweeter than Princess Wind Between Her Ears!
    Irishgirl,
    There a million things that can happen between now and then. Look at the nutjob “pastor” in Florida who wants to burn the Koran on 9/11. God knows what that will bring about if he goes ahead with it. Burning books is wrong period. Burning books that others hold sacred is unforgivable to many. This is the kind of thing that people need to be paying attention to. Somehow our freedom of speech has become all twisted in the hate and fear mongering. I guess he is “praying” about it now. Give me a break!
    If the Republicans get all of their nutjobs into Congress and Governors’ seats, we will see more of the same old crap and perhaps the world will come crashing down. More likely, POTUS will be busy with the veto pen and Congress will be busy with all kinds of BS “investigations” and our government and economy will spiral down to a grinding halt. Nothing will get done and people will continue to suffer and by the next elections in 2012 we will either be in a full on civil war or people will be ready to take to the streets and demand that the adults start acting like adults. All the people who are not in church praying for god’s will to run this country that is. The Republicans don’t have any new ideas that I have heard of.
    It is very depressing but HOPE springs eternal and we can continue to make a difference. I am hoping that the democrats’ and independents’ voices just aren’t being heard right now (for various reasons) and that we are still out here ready to vote in November. We just aren’t screaming our opinions like the whackjobs because we aren’t all riled up like they are (in the media). We are sitting at home and reading, learning and thinking about how to get things done. I think that there a good number of people who are frankly horrified about what is going on and hopefully they will make their voices heard in Nov. That, or no one will vote except the whackjobs on both sides.
      Ed is setting himself up for criticism from Beck and the rest of Faux News for not having the crowd Beck had. Beck promoted his for 6 months and Ed is only doing his with a month notice. If you want to get cheap air flights you would almost have to book today. I see why he would want to do it before the November elections and certainly hope he has more people than Beck, but on the other hand I don’t want to give Beck and his cronies fodder to criticise Ed and other liberals with. This is not a good idea in my opinion.
      • 21.2.1
        Lee323No Gravatar says:
        First of all, it’s not Ed’s march. Dozens of sponsors have already committed to the event. Below is a partial alphabetical list which only goes to “i” because the list is too long for this post.
        Second….since when should progressives, Democrats, or anybody else stifle their enthusiasm for a public demonstration of our nation’s unity because “Beck and his cronies” might criticize it? Who died and appointed them the national arbiters of these activities anyway? Hell, those folks are going to criticize one way or the other, even if they have to make it up! Sorry, but your rationale for not attending sounds suspiciously like “fear of failure” to me. In fact, I would assert that a primary reason Beck, Palin, Limbaugh etc. have succeeded in framing so much of the political debate in their negative, even seditious terms is precisely because the reasonable people in this country have not been as loud, aggressive, or pushed back.
        Finally….Give your wet blanket an extra hug tonight. Nobody will criticize you for that….probably.
