    On another note….

I couldn’t help but notice Bristol on the news tonight. They better rename the show, “stars standing with a dancer.” She certainly didn’t add anything to the show. She stood there and gyrated her hips while her counterpart danced around her.

“As for the possibility of a ‘President Palin’, Clinton told George Stephanopoulos that the “American people can elect whomever they want…But [she] served, you know, not a full…term as governor, and she went out and did this. We don’t even know if she’s going to run for President.” And it looks like Bill Clinton is going to play nice until that happens.”

Clinton weighs his words carefully, as he should, but I’m hoping that he has more pointed comments about the woman’s lack of real knowledge and experience. For instance, when pushed her fans usually fall back to point to her “energy expertise” I would truly like someone like Clinton to point out that not one Republican Governor called for her help during the recent oil spill catastrophe. Wonder why. Could it be that her energy expertise is all smoke and mirrors just like the rest of her so called experience.

I’m perfectly happy about the RNC losing money that would otherwise go to campaigns for wingnut candidates, but I am quite twitchy about the other end of the equation…Van Flein and Palin are the two who benefit from this arrangement.

    Notable Quotable….
“We looking forward to engaging Joe (Miller) in a dialog about Sen. Ted Stevens and the work he did for Alaska, work that Lisa has carried on,” said Steve Wackowski, Murkowski’s campaign spokesman, late Friday night. “As (to) the rest of Joe’s ramblings, this is coming from a man who is asking Alaskans to ‘tighten their belts’ on government spending — while he enjoyed having government pay for his education, both undergrad and graduate, subsidize healthcare for him and his family, and pay his salary for the majority of his adult life. Alaskans deserve better.”

Onto another important topic, given even more urgency by tonight’s/tomorrow’s holiday:

“You may have heard that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is saying he’ll resume settlement construction after an 10 month partial moratorium, and Palestinian President Abbas is threatening to scuttle the talks and resign if he does. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is personally involved, trying to keep the talks alive.

“J Street is running full-page newspaper ads in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other papers urging Netanayahu, Abbas, and Obama to make history, freeze settlement growth, and to give these new talks a chance to succeed.

“The stakes could not be higher for those of us who care about Israel achieving real peace and security in our lifetime — and for those of us who want to see all peoples of the region realize the dream of self-determination.

“I agree with famed Israeli novelist David Grossman when he recently remarked, “I don’t have the luxury of despair” when it comes to this latest round of talks.

“I will have none of this cynicism about the talks because it doesn’t help achieve a secure and democratic future for Israel. The paths of the critics lead only to the dead end of zero sum politics and blame games.”

“I disagree with the Obama administration on that. I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead. And I don’t think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand.”

I guess the Tea Party wants people like Joe the Plummer to balance a multiple trillion dollar budget, engage in complicated foreign policy discussions, understand the complexities of import/export balances and laws, engage with the smartest people in the world on climate change and environmental discussions, engage with the World Health Organization about threats to the health and safety of the country’s citizenry…. Send this to all those Tea Party supporters who claim that they want their freedom back (as if they ever lost it?! Are they free right now to parade around in tri-corner hats and lie to their little hearts delight without fear of prosecution?). If Fox and the Tea Party wins, we will see an end to personal freedoms and may even see a big set back for freedom of the Press (unless, of course, the media follows the rules as set by Fox news).

They just do not get it. It isn’t about whether women will have abortions or not. It is about it being safe. Period. Women have been aborting fetuses since the beginning of time. They will continue to do so. No one can stop that. Are we really ready to go back to the back alley and the number of lives that that will cost? What is pro-life about that? And I still don’t see how any woman can support a bunch of men trying to police our uteruses. What about all of their screeching about government intrusion into our lives? Sorry hypocrits, you cannot have it both ways.
