Palin Urges South Carolinians to Vote for “Egotistical Narrow-Minded Machine Goon”

Was Sarah Palin’s proclamation, “If I were in South Carolina, I’d vote for Newt” really an endorsement, or just her attempt to keep the wounded elephant that is the current presidential GOP lineup limping forward as far as possible before it collapses under the weight of its own unelectability? Correspondence from Palin seems to indicate the latter.

During Palin’s VP candidacy, her relationship with Newt Gingrich was tumultuous at best. Emails sent on Palin’s Yahoo! account while she was governor, which (despite being in the hands of the state of Alaska) have never been made available to the public, reveal that Newt had some avuncular words of wisdom for the greenhorn candidate:

She didn’t need local and state allies, not with Newt Gingrich regularly emailing advice like suggesting she not answer difficult question and instead “she should reframe it into the question she wishes they asked,” or better yet, “When your opponent has posed a question designed to put you on defense, the right strategy is to destroy the very legitimacy of the question and pose a new question of your own.” [From Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin – A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years]

But after the unsuccessful campaign, the relationship between the two became more strained. Things came to a boiling point in the summer of 2009, just weeks before Palin quit the governorship of Alaska.

This transformation had to do with a speaking engagement on June 8 at the Washington D.C. Convention Center. Sarah was originally invited to be the keynote speaker at an annual congressional fundraising dinner. As was her custom, she hesitated before accepting and Gingrich was invited as a fall-back. A suddenly dis-invited and miffed Sarah threatened not to attend before begrudgingly relenting.

On June 7, the day before Gingrich’s speech, Sarah wrote to her close inner-circle of administration confidants (including Frank Bailey):

From: gshp

Subject: Fw: Newt

…I don’t know why we have to protect the elites who do things like this so we don’t “ruffle feathers” by keeping it to ourselves. Newt “uninvited” me yesterday to speak at tomorrow’s NSRC (sic for NRSC, the National Republican Senatorial Committee). I was the surprise guest … I’d be sitting at his table, unannounced (though I think they were purposefully already leaking it, I know Meg (Stapleton) leaked it to Politico), then would get up to do a surprise speech and introduction of Newt. So… I went from being the invited keynote speaker back in February, to just the surprise introducer of the speaker this month, to the back-of-the-bus’er (“sit down and shut up”) the day before the event. One of the organizers told Meg last night that Newt pulled the plug, said he didn’t want me to “steal the show”.

This has nothing to do with me. It has to do with the machine, and egos, and power. Their action…tells us they’re not ready to walk the walk and reform the party…

It knocks the political wind right out of my gut – but really we shouldn’t be surprised. And when I mentioned to Mike Reagan [Ronald Reagan’s stepson and GOP commentator] the other night that I’d be referencing Newt in my introduction of him, he wasn’t overly thrilled…maybe there’s something others see in Newt… Keep this confidential until we figure out how I’m supposed to explain flying all the flippin’ way across the country – leaving my baby at home – to be at this dinner, then we get accused of dodging the substantive events like the NSRC, when in reality they kicked us to the curb. I hate politics.

Later that day, Sarah added more insight:

…Yes, (Newt/GOP) are egotistical, narrow minded machine goons... but all the more reason God protected me from getting up on stage in front of 5000 political and media “elites” to praise him, then it be shown across the nation. At some point Newt would have shown his true colors anyway and we would have been devastated having known we’d earlier prostituted ourselves up in front of the country introducing him and acting like that good ol’ rich white guy is the savior of the party.

Plus, I had nothing to wear, and God knew that too. Party machinery sucks. I can’t tell you how much I hate it – nothing ever changes – we went through it before and after the VP campaign… I’ve gone through it all my career. We just don’t fit into it, and maybe we should thank God for that. [From Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin – A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years]

Despite the good fortune of being saved from a wardroble gaffe by divine intervention, words of comfort and consolation came from Palin aide Ivy Frye: “Screw Newt, and let him take the heat for himself…”

None of this previous bad blood (of which Gingrich may or may not have been aware) seemed to dampen his enthusiasm over Sarah Palin’s comments yesterday. Nor did her explanation that the reason she’d vote for him is simply to see the carnage continue seem to faze him. He said he was “thrilled” after talking to Todd Palin who had formally endorsed him last week, and went on “It’s a signal to every conservative that the one conservative vote that’s effective is to Newt Gingrich and that’s very helpful.”

Palin’s desire to watch the five-way Republican cage fight is so appealing she told South Carolinians that she’d actually vote for the man she described as an “elite” “egotistical, narrow-minded machine goon” – a “good ol’ rich white guy” whom Palin said she didn’t even want to introduce to a crowd of a few thousand lest she “prostitute herself” in front of the nation.

We’ll find out on Saturday if the Palin non-endorsement endorsement helps Gingrich carry the day, and whether Palin continues to urge voters to cast their ballots for a man she actively dislikes.

the act of vetting candidates in the GOP is a myth.Conservatives continue to obsess on Obamma’s birth certificate & GPA, while Romney answers “maybe” when asked if he’ll release more than 1 yr. of tax returns. The GOP, (even though he is universally disliked by Republicans),turns a blind eye.Even his rivals don’t kick up much of a fuss. What’s up with that? It has taken a comedian to educate the public on how Citizens United is really just legalized graft.Palin complains of having “nothing to wear”;why not dip into her superPAC & go crazy @ the Anchorage Nordstrom?I keep hearing people say that any of the GOP candidates would be good news for Obamma.I think these people underestimate how powerful these PACS have made people like the Koch brothers who have access to billions,if necessary to defeat Obamma & make sure that nothing interferes with the growing power & wealth of the 1%rs, & the marginalization of the poor & middle classes in America.

  2. Cammie says:

I hate to say this, but you could force every South Carolina rightwing voter to read this column, and I doubt it would make any difference. It’s hardly the “values” state it claims to be. Try driving through it sometime with a young child, while shielding that child’s eyes from all the lurid “adult superstore” and “adult spa” billboards that line the highway.

  3. beth. says:

You just *know* it’s gotta be killing her that she jumped in to endorse Newt with her non-endorsement *before* the revised Iowa count came out; Santorum’s views are much more closely aligned with her vision for America, me thinks — an America that’s, once again, Xian pure and Xian holy…just as the Founding Fathers wanted it and as St. Ronnie worked so tirelessly to make it. Also, too, Santorum is not a Catholic; Newt is.

Beyond that, even, what’s with the oh-so-holy conservatives jumping all over the 100%-black-skinned FLOTUS for encouraging and promoting our nation’s youth (and their families) to eat healthfully and exercise, but not a “tsk” [let alone a full-blown “tsk-tsk”] is heard about a 100%-white-skinned potential FLOTUS who not only was a staffer-turned-mistress, but who also [according to the man she was mistress to] “didn’t care” that he dipped his wick wherever he wanted to? Family values? Lord! — have mercy! beth.

–Newt’s two daughters are from his first marriage -to his HS math teacher (1962-1980) — Kathy born in 1963 and Jackie in 1966. (Interestingly enough, his current wife, Callista, was also born in 1966.) I’m a bit flummoxed about how he can cite his daughters as sources for facts about his divorce from his 2nd wife — to the best of my knowledge, children / stepchildren are rarely (if ever) the best chroniclers of what happens to/with a couple during a divorce…and yet Newt is asking that his daughters be listened to over wife #2 [when it comes to an accounting of divorce events between N and w#2.] Go figure. b.

Gingrich and Santorum are both Roman Catholic they just play evangelical born-again’s on TV

      • beth. says:

Doh! — [palm > forehead] — I knew that! Thanks for the catch, frayedcat.

Seems as if 96% of all media conversations re: Newt and/or Mitt (no matter what that conversation, discussion, etc., is about!) insert as a ‘factoid’ the respective religious affiliation each man has chosen. Santorum? Eh…not so much, ever.

(I’m trying to remember the last time I heard about Santorum’s chosen religious affiliation, and I can’t. Aiii!…but I did –and do– know it.) I’m not a very smart man. beth.

        • frayedcat says:

LOL I’ve only just scene the ‘Romney is half Mexican’ and a ‘border-hopper’ press come out too. Who knows what these people are really like or what they really believe in, if anything. It might be all about the “pageant”, I mean “campaign”, like with sista’ sarah and no real “work” planned at the end of the trail, ‘cept maybe a couple of PR shots and a lite sponsorship…

    • Cammie says:

Gross. His wife is the same age as his daughter? -Shudders-

  4. Baker's Dozen says:

I think Sarah has magical powers. How else could she get her hair to levitate like that?

Mr. Dozen says Newt says he has a place for Perry (with an E) in his White House.

So in a Newton presidency, we could see the elimination of Secretaries of Interior, Energy and Uh, and gain Secretaries of Cheerleading and Victimhood. Oh, good.

  5. tallimat says:

Ah yes, another example of Palin professionalism.
Palin and Newt are in it for themselves.

Something inside me really wants these two on the repub ticket.
Think of the wreck with each other. Way too much wanna be at the top attitude. Collision for sure.
    The entertainment value alone …

  6. Moose Pucky says:

It’s uncanny how she does it. Looks like she might have just picked herself a SC winner. Now on to Florida where Rethugs love Sarah.

  7. leenie17 says:

It never fails to amaze me that conservatives can enthusiastically embrace and celebrate a man who abandoned TWO wives when they were facing life-threatening illnesses, cheated on both of them and asked his second wife to give him permission to screw another woman while still married to her. He also supposedly left his first wife because she wasn’t young and pretty enough to be First Lady. Not to mention being found guilty of ethics charges while Speaker of the House, the first speaker to ever be disciplined for ethics violations.

And yet they obsessively focus on something a casual acquaintance of President Obama’s did when he was only 8 years old and all but accuse the President himself of terrorism.

    My brain hurts!

    • Dagian says:

“It never fails to amaze me that conservatives can enthusiastically embrace and celebrate a man who abandoned TWO wives”

It’s a noodle-scratcher, isn’t it? I guess they figure it’s okay because he’s a WHITE man. Any man of more melanin-enhancement would be a Bad Man for doing the same thing. But when it’s their cousin Newt, it’s okay!

    • beaglemom says:

Well, Republicans would ignore any American with a serious illness because it’s all the fault of the person who is ill. And Republicans would ignore any American in need because it’s the fault of the person in need. And Republicans would ignore any unemployed person because it’s the fault of the person without a job. In fact, Republicans would ignore all of us except on election day and except for those few of us (I”m not included) who belong to their 1% Club. Newt’s behavior with regard to his first two wives would seem perfectly acceptable to any and all Republicans.

  8. ks sunflower says:

There is a terrific article on Newt and what Marianne could reveal is she wanted to that would be more devastating than his affair. If you follow the link, be sure to view the slideshow of his women at the end of the article and read the captioned comments to the photos thoroughly. You truly get an in-depth impression of a very troubled, unstable and detestable man.

    • ks sunflower says:

BTW, it sure explains how much Sarah and Newt have in common – depression, instability, erratic behavior – well, we could on and on, but why? Both are very sad examples of people trying to pass as themselves off as worthy of leading the rest of us.

    • Lacy Lady says:

I would like to know if Newts daughters that are defending him are children from his first marriage?

  9. scout says:

from ThinkProgress: Soaring “dumbarse” on Sean Hannity’s radio show:

Palin: “I call them dumbarses. They, thinking that by trotting out this old Gingrich divorce interview that’s old news — and it does feature a disgruntled ex, claiming that it would destroy his campaign — all it does, Sean, is incentive conservatives and independents who are so sick of the politics of personal destruction, because it’s played so selectively by media, that their target, in this case Newt, he’s now going to soar even more. Because we know the game now, and we just won’t put up with it.

“So, good call media! Way to go to covertly hype this, even Gingrich opponents, for being so brilliant they sure are dumb.”

    • Irishgirl says:

The media needs to cover Sarah’s flat arse.

      • scout says:

🙂 she’s begging for it, no?

Of the 4 Republican choices remaining, why do you choose the serial adulterer, Mrs. Palin?
To vet or not to vet, eh, Mrs. Palin?

        • benlomond2 says:

because evangalical types just LOVE to forgive somebody for their transgressions !! Then they walk around all so proud for “forgiving” someone , while they hold others in contempt who don’t believe and forgive the way they do….

    • OMG says:

Yikes…she’s a rabid 6itch. I wonder what Jenny Sandford thinks about Palin now since she just stated that she would not vote for Gingrich:

“Jenny Sanford: Personal Behavior Reflects On Public Life”

“Former South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford on MSNBC, regarding Newt Gingrch’s history with his ex-wife Marianne, said that a person’s personal behavior has an impact on their actions in the public sphere.”
      http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/updates/4340

Since Palin is attacking all those who do not like Gingrich’s nasty past, then Palin must also be slinging mud at the former first lady of South Carolina.

  10. Mo says:

    digby may unfortunately be right:

“Speaking of white supremacy — in my opinion, nobody is going to care that Newtie’s wife said he wanted to swing. In patriarchal circles, let’s face it, it’s just one of the perks. (As Limbaugh said today: “everybody has an angry ex-spouse.”) And in any case, they’re liking what they hear about “food stamp president” and telling black kids they need to get a job cleaning toilets so much that they’re probably going to overlook that ancient history. Newtie knows what’s important.”

    http://www.digbysblog.blogspot.com/

  11. Xenon says:

Seems to me that all she sees in Newt is a meal ticket, a reason to stay in the limelight. She’ll find out soon enough just where kissing up to this fat, pasty, fascist bigot will get her…then again, maybe she won’t given her own likeness of mind in these terms.

  12. LOL says:

“Plus, I had nothing to wear, and God knew that too.”

That has to be one of my favorite Palin quotes. Absolutely classic in its staggering stupidity and self-involvement.

Although, this might explain why Tebow and the Broncos lost last weekend. Perhaps God was pre-occupied with a wardrobe-related issue of Sarah Palin’s. The big guy has to pick and choose, you know.

  13. DonnaInMichigan says:

    ks sunflower..

I am sure she is stressed out. She has no job prospects. She would never win in Alaska, for any seat she wanted to run for. She can’t get another reality show picked up. She isn’t getting those donations in her SarahPAC like before. I am sure as soon as her contract with Fox News expires they aren’t going to renew it. After this election she’ll become irrelevant. She’ll just end up broke and living off Toads fisherman’s pay, in 5 yrs. Wait? Is he even working? Even her daughter Bristol was rejected in Hollywood. She’s got 5 kids, 1 Daughter in law, and 2 grandkid’s to support. Now she is trying to get NEWT as the republican candidate, because he spoke up about giving her a job in his administration. Probably only said it to get her endorsement and the money her supporters would send her, they will send to Newt.

    • mike from iowa says:

You good folks in Michigan gonna keep the Detroit International Bridge owner behind bars?

    • Valley_Independent says:

If she put the money she’s already received away, she doesn’t have to do a darn thing for the rest of her life and she won’t be broke.

Greed, however, is a powerful driving force.

  14. ks sunflower says:

Poor Sarah. She’s running out of options to stay in the news. Is it my warped perspective alone – or does anyone else think she is looking rather haggard these days? I don’t mean that in a superficial way either (though that can be fun, too), but she does not physically healthy (don’t need to go the mental health issues, we all know she’s not well there).

Anyone else think Sarah is looking a bit thinned-out, stressed-out, or just plain worn-out?

    • ks sunflower says:

      oops – left out a word: ” . . . does not look physically healthy . . . .”

    • Irishgirl says:

      She looks awful.

    • OMG says:

Her hair lately is at least 25 years out-of-style and the ugliness inside is oozing out making her face look dreadful. The only thing that I could ever compliment her on was how telegenic she was…now that is gone. Of course, she’ll have her stylists on hand when she comes to the lower 48 for her keynote so she might salvage the hair…the face will likely continue to show the strain of her true self coming out.

      • Irishgirl says:

She can’t really do much about her face. She looks thin, haggard and mannish now. There is nothing feminine about her. How awful that hate can do that to a person in a couple of years. And how fitting that that was the thing she prized the most about herself – her looks – and she has lost them.

All that money didn’t buy her happiness because she knew she wasn’t good enough!

        • nswfm says:

Money can buy you bad plastic surgery, though. And bad wigs…. 🙂

        • The rotten inner portion is fighting to get out – much like an abscess – or the hordes of words ……forming like a windstorm in her mind….

          • Dagian says:

            Portrait of Dorian Grey, anyone?

Must be a really scary painting hanging in her attic if what we see today is her ‘best foot forward’.

    • Really? says:

Theres a 3 year old in our family ,also. Those children really know how to run a gal ragged.

      • beaglemom says:

Huh? I don’t think Sarah Palin spends too much time with any of her children and, least of all, with Trig.

    • leenie17 says:

I remember going to my 10-year high school reunion some years ago and seeing one of my former classmates. She had been the stereotypical slutty cheerleader and all the boys (and one of the teachers who later ended up in jail for statutory rape of another student) chased after her.

I was shocked when I saw her because she had aged at least 20 years and looked awful. I found out that she had gotten pretty heavily into alcohol and some drugs in the intervening years, and every ounce of liquor showed in her face and body.

I don’t know if Palin dabbles in either drugs or alcohol, but the stress of living with all that jealousy, hate and vindictiveness MUST take an enormous toll on a person. If she wasn’t so destructive to everyone and everything around her, I’d feel pity for her.

    • laurie says:

At this point she’s burned a lot of bridges. Her ignorance has been revealed for all to see in her state as well as the national political world She has fewer and fewer adoring supporters to tell her that she is wonderful. There must be very few people around her that she can trust because she has treated many former friends and supporters so badly. I imagine that the world she has created has to be taking it’s toll.

  15. AKblue says:

“….I went from being the invited keynote speaker back in February, to just the surprise introducer of the speaker this month, to the back-of-the-bus’er (“sit down and shut up”) the day before the event.
Didn’t she put herself in the back of the bus when she didn’t confirm that she would be the keynote speaker?
(I guess she had an outfit for making the introduction, but not one for being the keynote speaker.)
She is choosing Gingrich because she knows he is the only candidate that might do something for her.

  16. DonnaInMichigan says:

Wasn’t Marianne the mistress he left his first wife for?? I seem to recall that……..the first wife had cancer and he showed up in her hospital room, wanting to discuss the divorce?

This is what gets me about these women, they are shocked when they marry a man that cheats on his wife with them, and then he turns around and does the exact same thing to them…

The only thing a mistress gets when she marries the man she cheated with, is a man who cheats.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there ends up being a “bimbo eruption” for Newt.

  17. scout says:

    Oh, LOL, AKM;
“goon” reminded me of Alice the Goon from Popeye. What can I say; if the accessories fit:
    http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/77/976861-alice_the_goon_1.jpg

(Alice is sporting her swooning “they really like me” face ~ or in her own words; her “acting like that good ol’ rich white [rhymes with rich] gal that thinks she’s the savior of the party” face.)

  18. beth. says:

    –A slight sideways jog–

“And when I mentioned to Mike Reagan [Ronald Reagan’s stepson and GOP commentator] the other night that I’d be referencing Newt in my introduction of him, …” – from the article.

POINT OF FACT: Michael Reagan, born in 1945, was the adopted son of St. Ronnie and his first wife, Jane Wyman. They also had a biological daughter, Maureen, born in 1941. St. Ronnie’s other children, Patti (1952) and Ron Jr. (1958), are his biological offspring with his second wife, Nancy. Mike is Nancy’s stepson; he wasn’t St. Ronnie’s stepson. beth.

    • ks sunflower says:

Good points. Not everyone knows this, and it is important. For values voters, they might want to know that Ronnie started his affair with Nancy while still married to Jane. Ah, the GOP – holier-than-thou and dirtier, too.

  19. Zyxomma says:

Hey, G$HP: God doesn’t decide the outcome of elections. Voters do.

  20. COalmost Native says:

OT:Perry is dropping out of the race, announcement will be on CNN this morning. I don’t know if he finally realized Texas is fed up paying for his expensive ego trip, or he doesn’t want any more flaws exposed…

Finally! ABC and CNN are focusing on Mitt’s tax rate, and that some of his Bain investments are housed in offshore Cayman accounts; not illegal-thanks Congress- but hard for him to claim he is part of the middle class. Not. 😉

    • ks sunflower says:

Also, too, add the news from a new book that Mitt’s grandfather fled to Mexico when polygamy was outlawed to start a Mormon colony there. Mitt’s father was born in that colony but came back to the US. The colony still exists and is still polygamist. No small wonder that Mitt never followed Rick Santorum’s “proud of family” speech in Iowa. Mitt has been so reluctant to talk about his roots; now we may know why.

Wonder how that will fly with those “values” voters?

Oh, and those off-shore accounts are important because I believe they are not taxed. It is a way (albeit legal) to avoid paying US taxes – putting the burden on the rest of us.

    • Baker's Dozen says:

No. He finally heard G*d correctly. He was saying “DON’T RUN!!!!!!!!!” all this time.

  21. g says:

I hadn’t read this before, but boy, it sure shows the depths of insecurity and resentment that drives her every move.

  22. Molly says:

The professionalism shining forth in her emails is just astounding; nay, adorable. 🙂

Also, God seems to be telling her what to do an awful lot, but she doesn’t seem to be listening, for it was God Himself (if we’re thinkin’ like Palin) that told her to sit down and shut up. She is such a whiner.

    • leenie17 says:

  23. Irishgirl says:

Oh Mrs. Palin…you got some splaining to do. Is this the sort of thing you support? Why yes, yes I believe you do! And Todd also too. 😉

“But as the former House speaker gains steam as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney in the lead up to Saturday’s South Carolina primary, his second wife, Marianne Gingrich is claiming that he did not live up to his public proclamations. In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Brian Ross, Gingrich claims her ex-husband wanted an open marriage. “He came to her and said, ‘I want to stay married to you and still have an affair with Calista, his current wife,” said Ross. “According to Marianne, he said ‘You need to share me,’ and she said ‘I don’t want to share,’ and the marriage ended.” ”

  24. Diane says:

I still think she will make an effort to be somebody’s VP candidate to deliver the evangelical votes.
Newt needs them badly. he only has 1 more marriage then st ronnie and he is not as ‘catholic’ as santorum.
Newt thinks he is so smart that having palin as VP would not be an obstacle.

  25. 907voter says:

Very unpleasant news. Lordy I thought we were done with her.

In an interview with Wolf Blitzer that will air today at 5:25 pm E.T. on CNN, Newt Gingrich said he will ask Sarah Palin “to play a major role” in his administration if elected President. Gingrich’s remarks come a day after the former Alaska governor and vice-Presidential candidate made waves by offering a quasi-endorsement of Gingrich on Fox News. “I want to see this thing continue because iron sharpens iron,” Palin told Fox’s Sean Hannity. “If I had to vote in order to keep it going, I would vote for Newt.”

  26. k l m says:

There was a tweet yesterday from Think Progress that Newt had said Sarah would have a ‘prominent role’ in his administration. Think on THAT one….even if its just a rumor. Egad.

  27. sunday says:

Sarah Palin is desperately trying to hold on to any form of relevance she may have in this 2012 Presidential election. Once Romney has the nomination it’s hard to imagine any place she may have in the process. What’s she going to do? Endorse Romney? Well, I guess she’s going to have to. Fox isn’t going to allow her to say anything negative about him.

But for now it’s fun to watch her and Todd prostitute themselves out to the Gingrich campaign. Karma.

  28. Sasha Veronicas says:

Sarah is trying to stir things up and create some chaos because she is a bitter vindictive spoiled narcissist. She holds and nurses grudges the way some people nurture an infant. She does not care a hoot about the Unites States and it’s people. She is all about settling scores. She’d hitch her falling star to Newt just so she could watch him crash and burn. She won’t be happy until the gets her fill of revenge against everyone she things wronged her on her god given quest to be queen of the universe.

    • nswfm says:

See psychopath link in my comment above. Plus, she didn’t have a THING to WEAR! Like she couldn’t go and buy it.

Moron Palin, of course you don’t fit in with the rest of the country.

  29. I See Villages From My House says:

She is a piece of work huh? Claims to be all straight talk and speaks the truth when she’s just as bitter, vile and two-faced as all of ’em, any of ’em put in front of her over the years.

CNN now shows that Santorum actually got 34 more votes over Romney in Iowa. This may be just the sway to get voters to pick Sweater Vest over Newt on Saturday in S.C.

If Newt loses the wind in his sails yet again, this is gonna be funny; however, she’s given herself enough of a cover to say she was only encouraging more competition and vetting (whatever that means to someone who didn’t have to go through all that, and couldn’t even handle an eight week taste, in fact, she downright blew it up and ruined it for the guy that sweated it out in the first place.)

If South Carolina was the Weimar Rethuglic,SP would vote for old AH-you know Aldous Huxley. No that isn’t right. Must be ad hoc? Nope,I remember now it was Armand Hammer. This is silly. I have Hitler’s name on the tip of my tougue and can’t remember who she’d throw her considerable baggage behind. Abe Horowitz, maybe? Alana Hamilton? Alexander Hamilton, perhaps. August Busch? No we can’t have a Potus named Gussie. American Harmonica? I got it-Alger Hiss.

Ah Sarah . . . . Constantly walking around with a can of gasoline, no common sense, avarice
and a huge case of malignant narcissism.

  32. OMG says:

Palin has no moral code nor does she have values that she adheres to…she is as Ana Maria Cox opins a “grandstanding prima donna”:

  33. benlomond2 says:

Sarah thrives in a chaotic scenerio; her “endorsement” is designed to continue the ongong circus that is the 2012 Republican Primary, and to try and make herself relevant in the news.as a possible kingmaker. If Newt wins, she will claim herself as the deciding factor, if Newt loses, she will place the blame elsewhere for his loss…
It’s so much fun to watch these people die by the sword they have themselves created; Super-Pac’s, voting irregularities – Iowa STILL hasn’t certified their vote count, several days after their deadline of 14 days-( how many Republicans does it take to count 100k votes- One, to pull the lever on the jackpot machine, which never gives the same answer twice ) Flip-flop on issues depending on the state they are in…False ad’s about each other… attacking their own policies.. doesn’t get any better than this !

  34. A Fan From Chicago says:

Her next move will be to endorse the cruise ship Captain for Prime Minister of Italy because he quit halfway through the rescue.

  35. Lynn in VA says:

The Republicans remind me of a small child covering his eyes with his hands… I can’t see you, therefore you can’t see me!

If they manage to settle on a candidate (probably Mittens), things will jus get uglier. And if, (God help us!) they manage to retake the White House, I for one will be fervently praying that the Mayans got that end of the world in 2012 thing right

  36. Ripley in CT says:

OMG! Nothing to wear!? God protected her from the speech because he knew she had nothing to wear? Oh, the humanity!

    • Irishgirl says:

She must have sold the RNC clothes on ebay! 😉

      • Molly says:

No, more likely all the clothes were dirty and lying in a heap in some back bedroom. Todd was maybe out practicing his snowmachining and wasn’t available for a trip to the dry cleaners. But what a handy God she has, that he protects her from speeches because He knows she doesn’t have anything to wear.

        • slipstream says:

Yep, good old God was so busy protecting Palin from a potentially catastrophic style mishap that he didn’t have time for the children starving in the Sudan. Gotta appreciate God’s sense of priorities, right?

          • leenie17 says:

Seriously? Does she REALLY think that God gives a cr@p about her wardrobe??

I had no doubt from the first time I heard her speak that she was grade A, double-decker narcissist, but that’s just beyond comprehension!

  37. Irishgirl says:

“Either Newt has successfully shed his years-long association with Washington culture, or Palin – like many Newt supporters – is so angry with the Obama administration that she doesn’t care if Gingrich’s values genuinely match up with hers; she just wants fireworks. Preferably M80s. Thrown in the White House commodes.

There’s an element of what-the-frak-ness to the GOP campaigns at this point, and Newt embodies this (you could say he approached marriage the same way). Robbed of the chance to have a real nomination fight, voters will settle for theatrics. Palin is no stranger to drama over content, after all.

One thing’s for certain: they both have animal pelts for hair.” 🙂

Our Sarah doesn’t care for Wall St. Willard (cultish mormon!). She prefers the family values guy.

  38. I thought it was funny that even some of the commentators remarked (while laughing) that when she said that about the candidate not being vetted in 2008 they thought she was talking about herself. That’s exactly what I thought. If she had any brains, she wouldn’t bring that subject up. All she did was remind everyone how foolish McCain was in choosing her and how foolish the whole republican party was in 2008. Looks like some things haven’t changed a bit.

And speaking of vetting candidates – it’s beginning to sound like the repubs still don’t know what that means. Mitt with his money hidden away, Newt just being Newt with a former wife that doesn’t seem to think much of him, and Rick Santorum who also has a wife with an interesting past. When these people decide to run for office, why doesn’t it occur to them that someone is going to start digging around in their personal lives and if there is anything to find, the world will soon know it. There was a time when a candidates personal life was left alone, but that isn’t the case anymore, right or wrong. Are they really so hungry for power that they are willing to go through all of the prying that goes with running? I guess so.

    • mike from iowa says:

Rick Sanitoriums family back in Italy are dyed-in-the-wool red Commies, according to an article I read recently. He never seems to talk about them at all.

      • Scorpie says:

I read that same article. It was most interesting.

      • bubbles says:

why am i not surprised? the family in Italy probably don’t talk much about him either. they know it is like to live under Fascism. he needs to go back to his roots and get a clue.

    • Diane says:

Really, if she has any brains, she would be embarrassed at her lack of knowledge and either work on gaining that knowledge or just be quiet.
She should be an embarrassment to the republican party, but they are so disorganized and crazed, she fits right in

    • diz says:

You’re so correct, PatWA. Their families pay a steep price when the scandals break. Cain exposing his wife to shame over, apparently unknown to her, marital infidelities and Newt knowingly subjecting his current wife to scorn and ridicule as the long time mistress of a married man. That hardly plays well in the ‘Hollywood’ that the right so loves to demean. Now the world knows that Santorum’s wife lived with the OB/GYN 40 years her senior who, in fact, delivered her. Will be interesting when the holier than thou parents have to ‘splain that to their brood. Won’t even bother to mention the mess many of the grizzled one’s offspring may encounter along the way owing to the drama of their mama.

Doesn’t that dimwit realize that she wasn’t vetted?

Should 2006 be 2009 in paragraph above?

This primary is sure entertaining. Now I wonder what Palin has to say about these emails? Flip flop! 🙂
