Mudflats/Stonekettle Live Debate Blogging!

It’s time for rock ’em sock ’em politics in the form of the first presidential debate of this election cycle.

Are you looking for a little company tonight? Someone to snuggle up to while catching the Obama/Romney show? Well, may I offer two somebodies in the form of myself, and Mudflats contributor Jim Wright, who is also the proprietor of his own blog Stonekettle Station. We’ve been sharpening our wits to a fine ninja-sword-like edge, and we’re ready to take them both on.

You can too. Just be right here at 5:00pm Alaska time (6pm Pacific, 9pm Eastern).

There are but a few hours left, so make sure you are stocked up on supplies.

Mudflats recommends:

A box of wine for blood pressure control (glass is discouraged). Those who do not partake of the adult beverages may substitute a cup of herbal tea, a stress ball, or a cat.

A padded helmet to prevent concussive injuries after head slamming

Something with chocolate… because it’s chocolate

A cold compress to keep excessive cerebral temperature at bay

A large vice grip to reduce the risk of head explosions

Your laptop to follow along and join the fun at the Mudflats

And just to get you in the mood, here’s a little gem I found in the internet, in which someone who sounds a great deal like Mitt Romney talks about the ultimate leeches on society – babies. Those slackers.

The video was great. Effin’ babies.

  2. I’m planning to watch the debate and I’m glad to know you’ll both be here. But I don’t know if I can really listen to Romney. He sort of makes my head start to explode until I mute him. Can we just do that at the beginning – take away his mike and turn out the lights on his side of the stage.

    Yay!
    I’ll be here.

We cannot stomach the sight and sound of Mitt Romney so we’ll dvr the debate and then watch the snippets we choose to. In the meantime we’ll watch a movie that we’ve dvr’d earlier.

I’m so sick of the hype from the last several days: Obama cannot act “superior”; Obama cannot talk down to Romney; and on and on. No one says that Mitt Romney shouldn’t lie. What would the mainstream media do if the public ignored the debate like it ignored the RNC? So my blood pressure will enjoy a non-confrontational movie and then we’ll see . . . .

Thanks for the liveblog though. You realize that you will be preventing many a heart attack or stroke as people become apoplectic when Romney begins his sanctimonious lying.

This has gone to air in Oz, and I have to say I was surprised at Romney’s performance; but he was playing “Chairman of the board”, his favorite role. When he steps out of this comfort zone I think things might be different.

  7. Carol says:

Oh, AKM and Jim Wright, I won’t be able to get it until Monday, out of Computer range. S***! I’d better be able to access it then or I’m gonna be mad.

  8. bonefish says:

AKM and Jim Wright… this will be fascinating.

  9. SuzySnowflake says:

Is the live blogging right here or over on the forum?

  10. AKblue says:

And if the above methods don’t work, you can try putting on the captions and muting Romney. Somehow, not listening to the voice when the lies, distortions, and hypocricy are at their worst makes it a little easier on the blood pressure.
    The video is hilarious.
