Open Thread: Palin, Alaskans Have Something to Say

Palin, during her semi-annual book selling tour has been hitting the airwaves saying stupid things.

Alaskans understand at this point that this is part of the deal. She comes out with a book, or she needs money for her PAC she hits the TV and says ‘controversial things’ – raises Tea Party cash and then heads back to her desert villa.

I’ve been thinking of a response to her ridiculous comments on the ‘liberal‘ Pope when I happened across the Alaskan band Portugal. The Man.

While their song is non-political… I couldn’t happen to add my own meaning to their lyrics.

Come on in
Take a seat next to me
You know we got
We got what you need
We may be liars preaching to choirs
But we can
We can sell your dreams

You don’t need sympathy
They got a pill for everything
Just take that dark cloud
Ring it out to wash it down, but

Don’t pray for us
We don’t need no modern Jesus
To roll with us
The only rule we need is never
Giving up
The only faith we have is faith in us

We’re the ones who start little fires
Yet they burn out
But when they’re on the rise
They can’t help but shine

And when the wave approaches
Take our ashes to the ocean
Who cares if hell awaits?
We’re having drinks at heaven’s gate

Don’t pray for us
We don’t need no modern Jesus
To roll with us
The only rule we need is never
Giving up
The only faith we have is faith in us

We know that we’re helpless
At least we always assume
But we don’t need to prove nothing to you
Let’s keep the cool
You don’t need to feel blue
Cause we won’t sell you nothing
You can’t use

Don’t pray for us
We don’t need no modern Jesus
To roll with us
The only rule we need is never
Giving up
The only faith we have is faith in us

Maybe it’s just me. -Zach

Sarah is nothing more than a Puddle of Mudd now being a Psycho…what goes around comes around eh?

    Dear whatzername-
I’ve put this here before . Buddy was writing about people like you , dearie . It almost broke his heart to walk away from his church when the mean spirited, nasty blaming of the poor for their own travails and self righteous jesus-loves-me-more-than-you crap you spout overtook the congregation :

You can stuff your phony christianist horsepunky about Christmas Pfft!

Think only Alaska’s rethugs want to deprive Native Americans of their right to vote? Guess again. Scroll down this site to the 4th and 5th articles. Dr Frankenstein changed careers and is now a female, rwnj attorney and Sec. of South Dakota’s rethuglican party. She has decided to Parnell the winners of a lawsuit against the state,by claiming the state won and gets to collect fees from the poorest county in the state. Of course she claims she is not vindictive.

    • Alaska Pi says:

      Ms Frankenstein lost.
      Shucks. 😉

Her characterization of a dismissal-without-predudice as a win is a common response, especially of governments being sued by citizens.
We had a biggie here recently- one which the state said it “won” . See page 3 ? 🙂

However, playing games with whether it is a win is far less of a slap in the face to those who settled in good faith than going after them for costs. Ms Frankenstein deserves the boot from those who hired her to protect their so-called interests -at the very least. Suspending her license to practice law for awhile really ought to be on the plate, also too.

      • mike from iowa says:

Thank you my dear, dear friend for the S.D. update. I had not been able to locate it. It warms me olde heart to know the justice system does work for the voiceless at times. When Frankenstein goes to church, she must pray to Saints David and Charles Koch.:)

        • Alaska Pi says:

yup. once in awhile it does work , especially on such settled notions as dismissed-without-prejudice, which means if the counties fumble the agreement the folks can come back at this again.
where the doof Frankenstein got the idea it would make sense to sue for costs I have no idea and the judge rightfully slammed her big time.
Saints Koch?! Yeghhhh! But you’re prolly right… Yarg!

    • mike from iowa says:

The Snookster got the pragmatic part all wrong. If your nativity scene offends someone, put another next to it and shoot the offending swine. Remember-don’t retreat,re-load.

The most important cultural find of the past thirty seconds-Snookie’s doctoral dissertation for her BS and PHD degrees from Salad Shooter Uni.

Pass the bread croutons or croutettes.

  5. mike from iowa says:

Rethuglicans, led by Nutty Pete Olson of Texas are supposed to file articles of impeachment against A.G .Holder today. They should be the fittest Congress ever for all their exercises in futility.

    • mike from iowa says:

Only 19 co-signers of articles of impeachment just isn’t gonna get-r-dun,fellas. Timid t-bag tortoises afraid to stick their necks out again so soon after stinging rebuke of rethuglican lead gubmint shutdown. Either t-bag caucus is split or some just wizened up. T-bags,t-bags straddle duh fence, ain’t been blessed with common sense. Cain’t you see the fence got stickers? Get off the fence and learn to dicker. Or go home, losers.

I don’t own a Bible, and my entire knowledge of the Gospel of St. Matthew comes from the Charlie Brown Christmas special. But didn’t the angel greet the shepherds with “I bring you glad tidings OF great joy”? Dare I possibly suggest that Sarah gets it wrong…cough…again?

It’s interesting to note (and I have, though Huffington won’t print my comments) that whenever Palin is mentioned in other media sites, the comments are totally critical. A few years ago, her supporters swarmed to those sites looking for letters that dared criticize their princess. They told us that we were all jealous of Sarah, or afraid of her. Nowadays, it seems that very few of her fans are out there defending her.

    • mike from iowa says:

🙂 You coud try conservatives for palin (c4p) not the adult swinger site and hear the truth according to her hienie, sorry,I meant highness.

    • Zach Roberts says:

The funding has dried up to pay the commenters.

      • Carol says:

You might just have something there. Was it ?Colbert or ?Stewart who recently did a piece on Fox trolls that inhabit the internet. When there was a piece critical of Faux Noise, the trolls were paid to jump in and defend FN, of which SP was a part. One troll admitted to 100 different internet identities, so it would look like there were lots and lots of people who thought Faux Noise did provide a vital, necessary and accurate survice.

Hey Toots, my insurance company assures me that “stricken with the spirit of generosity in December” is a pre-existing condition which they won’t cover. For a nominal(see outrageous) fee they will provide me with a bottle of castor oil guaranteed to ruin the spirit of giving. Being generous in December is one thing, but for you to survive the spirit of Griftness giving to you must continue all year long. Don’t take any wooden nickels, okay? BTW that advice will cost you 100 thousand bucks payable to me,mike from iowa, cash only please.

  8. OMG says:

This is the best review of Palin’s war on Christmas book yet–enjoy:

Also, too…has Palin and her Fox buddies forgotten that taxpayers pay for all the Christmas decorations that cities and towns put up? Do they not recognized that New York City, Chicago, San Francisco and other bastions of un-American liberal thought spend hundreds of thousands of $ on Christmas alone? Did they also forget that they want government to go away and want to slash government spending? They must be pleased then that towns across the country are indeed slashing their spending such as the amount they spend on Christmas decorations:

    • AKblue says:

OMG, I just read the Daily Beast review. The woman’s brain is hopelessly scrambled.

    • Beaglemom says:

I just read the review and the author is under the misperception that Sarah Palin “attends church.” No one knows if Sarah or her family members regularly attend church.

One of my peeves with Sarah Palin and her personal war on Christmas is that she has no idea how others might celebrate Christmas. I seriously doubt that she spends much time writing Christmas cards with notes to friends and family, wrapping presents, decorating her house (including setting up the creche inherited from previous generations), baking cookies, attending concerts or church services, and on and on. So my advice to Sarah Palin is simply “shut up.” Most of the rest of us have celebrated Christmas in our hearts and in our lives for many years now and WE DO NOT NEED ANY HELP FROM YOU.”

Watching the video..and listening to the music, as the images..burned-on-by. Those who made the video..Portugal I believe..have touched the all of US..who do believe..’in the people’. Pure strength, pure love..will defeat the world all of us..who have, were born with, raised with..pure empathy..keep rising. ‘ We don’t modern jesus’…..

  10. mike from iowa says:

A lot of t-baggers think she lives in Alaska.

Climate change summit in Poland includes 13 korporations that profit from denying climate change, out of twenty invited participants. How is that gonna work?
